Reviews of Hotel 1929
Location good, stuff friendly, but the room is small and dirty. I found a centipede while taking a shower.
Very friendly and nice front desk staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Upgraded my room for free and it has a huge balcony. There is food smell in the hotel rooms and corridors. Should be from restaurants below. Bed is very hard but not too bad to spend a few nights. Room is clean but shower water will run out of hot water really fast. Toilet needs some repairs but overall it was a good experience.
Good hotel to stay in if you’re prioritising location. Very central in Chinatown with plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants. Close to the MRT and multiple malls.
Hotel itself in terms of quality is essentially a budget hotel. Small room and there was mould growing on the ceilings. Blanket was very small so we had to ask for another although we were only given a bedsheet. We didn’t hear any noise from our room as it faced away from the street which was good and we slept well.
Overall - very good location and fine if you’re okay with budget-level facilities.
If you are looking for a large, luxurious room with turndown service and a mint on your pillow, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a clean private room with your own bathroom at a reasonable price, this might be the place for you. There is nothing fancy here, but it was definitely clean and well-maintained.
Very compact hotel, good for short visit and for backpackers
If you are looking for a cheap place to crash while in Singapore, this hotel isn't a bad choice. It is right in Chinatown, in the midst of all the bars, local temples, street market and hawker center.
The room is small but not an issue if you just need a bed to sleep on. Same with the bathroom too. There is no table so you have to be creative if you need to do work or eat some takeout food.
The wall is paper thin. I could hear people talking at 2am in the morning in the hallway trying to get into their room (I presume). The internet is actually pretty good, strong signal and reliable speed.
Be prepared to be woken up at 7am when the nearby temples goes about doing some chanting accompanied by gongs.
Unless you get a terrace room they are extremely small. Only given 1 key for the room for 2 people 5 days. Good housekeeping but we had to ask for more toilet paper twice. Included breakfast was very good! Perfect location between 2 MRT stations
Good location!
A nice hotel close to China town.
Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
Rooms are quite compact but well designed to get the most out of the space.
One person in the room is ok. Two people in the room may be a bit tight but still ok.
If you need plenty of space in your room then you will need to ask for a larger room.
The hotel has a restaurant that serves nice meals. It also has a bar.
I enjoyed this hotel and recommend it for singles and couples.
I love the location in Chinatown. Great for nightlife and eating outside. The historic building is architecturally beautiful. BUT, I couldnt get over how small the room is. 20sqm for a King double room and Junior Suite.. its disappointing. Shower over closet just empasise the cramped space of the room even more. Not for the claustrophobic. Need to rethink the interior too, grey wall, grey door, small rectangle space..feels like prison
Im giving 5 stars compared to nearby hostela and capsule. Easy booking, can accomodate early check in, unlimited drinks anytime of the day and friendly staff. Location very strategic for your tourist destination (near MRT, Churches and to your foodtrip chinatown). Luckily, we got a discounted rate via booking app even a night before. Clean room, no smell, a nice place to rest after your stroll.
Great hotel for a few days stay. Nice breakfast - good range. Good location. Compact rooms. Live band some nights so a bit noisy but fun to be amongst it all.
Hotel 1929 is a small and clean hotel in Chinatown. Booked the room seeing the availability of restaurant from their official website. But unfortunately they did not have any restaurant in their hotel when i reached. Hotel staff was kind enough to give an early checkin.
Room was small and had a wash basin near the bed. Room was clean with enough lighting. There was no window, phone or table in the room and there were hardly 3 - 5 local channels in TV.
Singapore being an expensive city i am not sure if 165 singapore dollar per day is ok for this type of room. I liked the hotel reception staff. They were really friendly and helpful.
The room layout is totally different from the photo I book 2 days but I only manage to force myself to stay 1 day . It’s like climbing a mountain to go bed or go toilet or go out
The hotel is at the best location near Outram Mrt which is one of the Mrt hub and many good restaurants around the place.
I LOVE the staffs here, they are really nice and friendly. Their breakfast is one of the best and their bar offers good price at night.
The only thing that can bother you (if you don't mind the tiny room) is the noise of the traffic and the music outside.
Door latch is spoilt in the room and not repaired. Requested for iron and ironing board but never came. Rain shower is not working properly. This hotel is no longer the 1929 hotel which I have heard on all the good reviews
The hotel near MRT and connivence to walk around. The hotel is so close Chinatown and food centre. There are housekeeper and they are make up the room in everyday but the room was old and not quite.
Good location but the room is tiny and a little dirty overall it is okay for a couple days for the price
It was okay very average and is just not a hotel i would pick personally but is worth a try . overall is better to invest in a better hotel even if is just for a day.
The hotel is very close to the metro and the main thongs in Chinatown. Is quite. The room are very small. The staff are friendly and helpfull. I recommended thus place
Good, near to chinatown. A lot of amenities by just walking distance.
02/Nov/2022 i love it , the Japanese food in 1929 hotel . My wife and i really enjoy the food and the service from Ms Weiwei is excellent. . Will come back more rounds 👍👍👍👍👍
Very Nice hotel, the owner was very kind, room is clean and near to outram park Mrt station.
Did what it was expected to do. Excellent room, useful location near Chinatown.
You get what you pay for. They clean the room everyday.Very very nice location!!!!
Tv can’t be used. Dust everywhere……..😮💨 lucky we were only there for 1 night
Not big but okay clean and cosy. Love the balcony
Its quiet nice and cool place to listen to live band every friday while enjoying your dinner and beers.
Ceiling looks dirty. Side cabinet having dust. Apart from all this two, other are ok.
One of my fav place for. A staycation .....brings memories and they got really nice staff working ...
Great location close to public transportation. In the heart of chinatown
everything was just okay i guess but cleanliness can be better
Good,nice

Just walk for eat!
Nice
Super Trip
Great service
Clean & Compact Hotel
The location is okay. It's not far from the subway station. There is a bar below. It may be a little noisy at night. But it doesn't matter because I go to bed late. It's just that the mattress and bed in the room I stayed in are not the same size. I often bump into my feet. Yes. Painful. Risk of injury=.=
Someone in a review 5-6 years ago mentioned free water and coffee biscuits. Those are no longer available.
The counter is very friendly and can communicate in both Chinese and English.
In terms of transportation, it is very close to Maxwell MRT. Even if you push a large suitcase, it will not be difficult to walk there. There are many bus stops nearby, so it is very convenient to go anywhere. You can also store your luggage first, which greatly alleviates the troubles of the journey. . As for the environment, there are almost unique bars downstairs in the entire street. It is very convenient to go directly to the restaurant after drinking. The disadvantage is that there may be a bit of noise at night, which may be a bit bothersome for light sleepers, but it is still acceptable to me personally. Scope. There are also many specialty cafes and brunch bars nearby. It is also very close to Chinatown, making it a very convenient location. The equipment is quite old, but it is very clean, and the spare parts are fully supplied (but no disposable indoor slippers are included). If there is a problem with the equipment, the staff will deal with it proactively and have a good attitude.
The location is convenient from the MRT and bus stops, and it's easy to find, so you won't get lost. The reception staff are kind and friendly (depending on the person, some staff members speak Cantonese). The size of the room is okay for Singapore, but I think it's a reasonable hotel if you don't have any issues with things like a desk but no chair, and no power source at the bedside.
Small room, just the right size. At night, there is loud noise from the bar below. Soft bed, soft pillows, towels always changed, water forgotten to be added for 1 day, cleaned every day. But found 1 little cockroach on the bed. Another day found it on the glass wall. The bathroom does not have a bidet. But the toilet is close to the shower. The accommodation is near the MRT, convenient to travel.
Singapore for the first time in 3 years.
As always, hotel costs are extremely high compared to neighboring ASEAN countries.
This hotel is close to Chinatown and is located on a food street that is popular among young people.
It is also within walking distance from Tanjong Pagar Station, where there are many Japanese restaurants.
A room arrangement that does not match the exterior.
Although the room was very small, it was convenient.
It may have been a coincidence, but it was helpful that the room I stayed in had a small window.
The brightness outside in the early morning is a concern.
The elderly man at the front desk was very helpful.
If you don't hang the MAKE UP MY ROOM tag on the outside doorknob, they won't clean the room.
Breakfast is a short walk to Chinatown.
We ate at Hawkers in Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market.
Extremely small rooms, which were, however, very clean and practical and modernly furnished. Very good location near Chinatown and not far from subway. Very friendly staff. From the maid to the breakfast server, everyone was absolutely lovely and helpful. The hotel also has a small bar - it can sometimes get a little louder in the evenings. However, it only happened once during our stay. We'll definitely come back again.
The 1929 is the first to score points with its excellent location in Chinatown between the two MRT's Outram and Chinatown with many restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities right around the corner. Very clean, if somewhat small rooms. Bathroom also very clean, but you can't get to the toilet after showering with dry feet. Breakfast tasty and sufficient. Choice from sweet to savory. Very good WiFi. Uncomplicated, friendly staff, always happy to help make your stay as pleasant as possible. We felt very comfortable as guests...
I did a lot of research before finalizing my stay at 1929, and it really met my expectations. The room is really small, but in general hotels, apart from the big chains, have very small rooms. But I found the room to be normal and the space very well used: there is a table, large drawers under the bed, a space to put your suitcase and a sink next to the door. The shower is next to the toilet, but nothing that really gets in the way. The breakfast, although simple, was good, and I thought it was great that there was a minibar at the reception with water, juices and soft drinks, as well as several types of delicate cookies for free. The location is good, less than 10 minutes from Outram Park station (exit F) and with several restaurants and cafes, of all types, nearby. The only negative point was the smell of sweat in the room, even after cleaning, but I would definitely stay there again.
I stayed for two nights. The first night I stayed in a balcony room, which was unparalleled. The so-called balcony door could not be opened or exited. The bathroom in the room was extremely thin and had a three-pointed and octagonal design. There were traps everywhere, which caused my husband’s feet to be injured twice! On the second night, I changed to a cheaper ordinary room, but it still had more space. It was strange!
Although there is a bar downstairs, it is not too noisy. The surrounding environment is quiet. The room is small but the bed is big enough and there is a terrace. The transportation is convenient. It is close to Outram Park Station and only a few minutes walk to Chinatown. It is a very cost-effective hotel. .
The 1929 is a very nice and clean boutique hotel. The location in Chinatown is good. There are many restaurants, bars and shopping centers in the immediate vicinity. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Only the rooms were really very small and there was a lack of storage space. The shower and toilet were close together in a small wet room, so it was not possible to go to the toilet after showering without getting wet. All in all recommended.
As others have already reported: the rooms are very small, but efficient. The bed is good, the shower is fine. The air conditioning worked well without too much noise; the breakfast was good. We had a midnight flight upon departure; It was no problem to leave the luggage and we even got a room and a towel to shower in the evening. This without extra costs. Very friendly staff. Definitely recommended.
The 1929 Hotel is located near Chinatown and Outram Park MRT stations. It can be reached in just over five minutes' walk. Since there are many Chinese people in the area, it is actually very convenient for eating and living. Supplement: This time I saw that there will be a subway station after Maxwell nearby. This location is even more perfect! However, there are usually bars downstairs and around the hotel at night, which are quite lively, so don’t consider it if you have trouble falling asleep. Because I am traveling alone, I am more afraid of backpacker hostels. The hotel prices in Singapore are still high. After comparing this one, I feel that although the room layout is not big, it is fully equipped with a double bed and an independent bathroom (you can sit on the toilet and take a shower) ), and the TV has built-in Netflix and YouTube. If you are not picky about accommodation, this is really a "100% sure". This restaurant has mixed reviews. I seriously think I will choose this place next time I have the chance to come! This is clear enough!
What a Peranakan world!! the atmosphere of the time is still there. you can feel the good old days. I got away. Word of mouth is not helpful. I had great time stay here. and left feeling satisfied. ※room with a small balcony. Reviews are not helpful. I'm rather satisfied. It had enough facilities, was close to the station, was quiet, and even included breakfast. The room was normal and not small.
Although the room is small, it is clean and tidy. The hotel is very well located (just a few steps from Chinatown) and has a multitude of bar and restaurant options nearby. The highlights were the treats at the reception: complimentary water and soft drinks, as well as delicious cookies! The only negative point was the smell of sweat in the room. I had the feeling that it wasn't a matter of lack of hygiene, but that someone who was very smelly had stayed in that apartment and the sweat had soaked into the mattress.
in a revitalized area of chinatown, this boutique hotel caters to solo travelers and quick stays. It is worth noting that breakfast is not included in the price, but there is a restaurant on the ground floor that is quite nice. Another important point is the size of the rooms, which are many, but very small, mine was 12m2 or 3x4, but it served very well. nice bed and a very good shower.
The hotel is located in a strategic position for visiting Singapore. It's about a 20 minute walk from the garden bay, a nice walk between the skyscrapers. The rooms are very small but comfortable. The very kind staff. Nearby there are many places to eat at cheap prices.
I made a reservation at a low price including breakfast using a hotel reservation app. Reviews said the room was small, but I liked it because it was small enough for two people for the price. If you leave a note requesting room cleaning on the room handle, the room will be cleaned every day and all pillows and blankets will be changed. The hotel itself was always cool, and the room wasn't hot even without the air conditioner on. When taking a shower, the basic water temperature itself was not cold but lukewarm, so it was okay. The warm water comes out briefly as it is heated, but you have to turn it off during the shower and turn it back on after a few minutes. We had breakfast at the restaurant right next door, which is connected to the hotel, and there was a lot of variety, so we had a different menu every day. The food is generally delicious. The staff seemed to be well organized. It was friendly and friendly, and I liked it all.
The location is perfect. You can take the subway directly from the airport. It is very close to the subway station. There is an electric pick-up at the exit. The two subway lines intersect, so the transportation is very convenient. ||Limited by the building, the space cannot be too large. But the space is used very efficiently, for example, there is a drawer-style storage space under the bed. There is a capsule coffee machine in the room ~ it feels like a boutique hotel || Unlimited supply of mineral water, cola and juice, very generous and practical || In short, it is a hotel that I will consider staying in again when I come to Singapore
Very good location near china town, . Close to MRT and bus station. Its small room but not bad for 1 person. Clean the room everyday if request. Kindly staff at reception.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The room was called “Double Superior”. There are no photos of him on the website. The most budget option, but very cozy and compact, just what you need for a few days.
The window overlooks the back yard. The shower is combined with a toilet. Kettle. Hairdryer Air conditioner. Towels. Toothbrushes. Bottled water was waiting for us upon arrival. The bed (or rather mattress) is large and comfortable.
Convenient location: we walked to the main attractions of the city, close to the metro. Direct metro line to Sintosa Island and to the airport. There is 7eleven nearby.
We were very pleased; value for money is excellent.
On the last day of their stay, a neighbor showed up; you could hear it over the water in the shower.
Among the minuses, we can say about the tiles in the bathroom that were not polished to a shine in some places.
We only spent one night there - relatively small room with bathroom but OK for 1 night, little space for suitcases, but clean, good location near the Metro Outram in Chinatown - very friendly staff, lots of restaurants around
Overall I liked the hotel, it is located in Chinatown, about 10 minutes walk from the metro. Nice staff at the reception. I liked that on the 1st floor, opposite the reception desk, there is a refrigerator with water, juices and cola. You can take as many drinks as you need, and it’s free for guests. Internet in the room without problems, limited to only 3 devices. The room is small, but everything is there (TV, hairdryer, shampoo/shower gel, toothbrushes). But there is a peculiarity - a cabin with a shower and toilet is built into the room, located a meter from the bed and has translucent walls and, of course, audibility is strong. If someone likes to retire to the restroom, it won’t work. And it’s also a bit noisy, in the morning you can hear everything that happens in the corridor + noise from the street. But overall the hotel is pleasant. And good breakfasts in the morning.
I booked a double bed room for two... but the room was really, really small. There's a bathroom door (glass door) next to one step from the bed, and when you open that door, you're right in the toilet... I felt like I was sleeping with my head near the toilet... Also, there was a sink in the room instead of a bathroom, and maybe because of the humidity, there were a lot of mold marks on the ceiling... My mom was disappointed when she saw the room. ㅠㅠ I was lucky that I arrived in Singapore late at night, slept, and checked out right away the next day. It would have been embarrassing if I had booked for a few days... The location is really good. It's in the middle of Keong Saek Road, so it's good for those who want to go to Keong Saek Road. It was also close to Chinatown, a 5-7 minute walk.
I arrived early in the morning and had to leave my luggage as check-in was at 3pm, but they let me check in early if I had 2 hours to prepare it, which was helpful. ||I was prepared for the smallness of the room based on the reviews, so this was expected. It's true that the trunk can be expanded to become a bed, but other than that there were no inconveniences. The shower is right next to the toilet, so the toilet will definitely get wet, but as long as you keep the lid on, it won't be a problem. Wifi was also easy to connect to. ||I chose it because of its location, and it's convenient as Auto Tram Park is less than 5 minutes away and Chinatown is less than 10 minutes away. ||Breakfast didn't have many items, but the porridge was delicious. The downside was that there was no refrigerator in the room, but the drinks in the refrigerator in front of the reception desk were all you could drink.
