Reviews of Hotel 81 (Premier) Star
This is a really hard hotel to review. It's location in the red light district was confronting, though it was safe as it was Singapore and there were no issues from this. The immediate surrounding area is the dirtiest I've seen in Singapore. However, using buses it's extremelly centrally located being able to get to multiple MRT lines so that was great. Further into the nearby residential areas (less than 1km away) rather than the red light district, it is really pleasant, with shops and nice hawkers markets. There is a building under construction next door which when complete will no doubt improve the area. The room was functional and clean with coffee and tea (just soap in shower though, no shampoo/conditioner - all expected given the price). The star of the show were the staff who truly went above and beyond for my friends who I was staying with who needed a little extra help with things. Even going so far as showing my friend to the nearby eateries in the middle of the night.
Special thanks to the bloke on night shift last week, who was exceptionally helpful. I'm awful with names but his name was something like Yugan (sorry! Can't remember the actual name - was last on Friday night I think).
It's 5 stars for service and affordability. It is still a budget hotel though - so expect that with amenities. But if you find anything missing be sure to ask the staff as they will help you out.
Room was clean and staff would change towels every day.
Bed very solid though you do get used to it after a couple nights.
Distance from MRT is not too bad but walking home after a long day wasn’t fun.
Wouldn’t recommend for solo female traveller but couples or solo male on a budget its not bad.
Just as much as I expected, no more, no less.
Room is quite nice, almost everything is clean enough although some details are moldy and disheveled.
I do concern about the location and the neighborhood but so far so good. Love the Old Airport Hawker and citizen area nearby.
Near the Aljunied MRT station. There are so many restaurant near the hotel, and the hotel is very close to the bus stop.
Friendly staff (Receptionist and Housekeeping staff).
- The bathroom is quite small but very understanable.
- AC, refrigerator, waterheater --> functioning well
- The mattress is queen size, it's too small for parent with one child.
- They provide you android tv which you can watch youtube.
- Hotel slippers are not provided
Great experience, good hospitality & prompt service. Regular cleaning except Sundays and a bit high on rates compared to other Hotel 81 here.
A brilliant budget hotel with enough water bottles and towels given for the duration of your stay. Very clean and tidy. The location is in the red-light district. Very quiet though.
Customer service is on point. The staff speak excellent English. Seasonal events happening all the time. We attended the moon festival in the hotel.
I was driven for free to a local bakery. Wonderful staff go above and beyond.
I have a very good experience staying this Hotel. All staff are every helpful and especially when I arrived at the hotel early in the morning, Nurhakim, the Chief Officer was able to find me a room and gave me early check-in.
And on one of the early mornings where we have to get to F1 Pit Building to start our marathon race, the staff manage to get us taxi even though it was super hard to find and we have a couple cancellation attempts on our pre-booking.
Super happy with the service, will surely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family!
Hotel 81 Premium Star in Singapore offers a budget-friendly stay with basic amenities for travelers on a tight budget. Situated in the vibrant Geylang area, it provides easy access to local eateries and transportation options, making it convenient for tourists exploring the city. While the hotel offers clean and comfortable rooms, don't expect luxury accommodations. The decor is simple, with minimalistic furnishings, catering more to practicality than extravagance. Rooms come equipped with essential amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests. One of the highlights of Hotel 81 Premium Star is its affordability, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers looking for a place to rest without breaking the bank. However, it's essential to note that the hotel's location in the lively Geylang district means it can get noisy at times, especially during the evenings.Overall, Hotel 81 Premium Star is a suitable choice for travelers seeking budget accommodations in Singapore. While it may lack the frills of higher-end hotels, its affordability and convenient location make it a practical option for those looking to explore the city without overspending on accommodation.
Basic economy hotel located in the Geylang area of Singapore off of Lor 18 Geylang. Bookable online. Credit cards probably preferred but cash maybe accepted as well.
Good budget place to stay for solo or couple travelers. Not so suited for families. Rooms are simple, clean and small. Not much wasted space - or any other kind of space! Again, fine if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. Bed linens were simple though not quite warm enough for the blasting AC. Toothbrush/paste toiletries provided. Western-style toilet arrangement. Good hot water and water pressure.
Wi-fi adequate for at least basic stuff. Television only had a half-dozen working stations at any given time. Again, not a place to luxuriate but an adequate place to sleep at night. Rooms are not well-insulated against noise but it wasn't noisy the night I stayed there.
The biggest problem with this place is the location. Even-numbered streets in Geylang are less than savory particularly after dark. It's Singapore, not Bangkok or other places so it's not overly obvious but there is a *lot* of street traffic after dark - both foot and motorized. Other than the neon lights you might not realize the small places across the street are selling adult services rather than food. Just be forewarned. Easy enough to go in and out of the hotel.
Perfectly pleasant and convenient for both bus and metro. There are bars outside which service a certain kind of customer but they are very unobtrusive and would be unrecognisable if you didn't pay close attention. All in all a very good room for the price and would recommend this to people as a cheap place to stay in Singapore.
The room quite exception with prices but hotel receptions quite helpful.
This hotel near Bus station, so the location is best
The room was well kept and large. Customer service at check-in was great. When I informed the reception on the second day that the safe had a low battery, she asked if I needed to use the safe. The hotel is located right on the red light district strip. Overall, it is good value for the accommodation except for its location
Affordable place to stay in Sg for short period.
Walking distance the Bus station.
Room was small but it's worth its price.
Hotel workers are very accommodating and helpful.
It's just a bit noisy at night, and there was a time when I got suffocated from the cigarette smokes sipping in the room at midnight from other customers
The hotel is generally clean and tidy. It is generally a comfortable stay. There are washing machines and dryer for customers to use so it is quite convenient, but it is located in the ************** of Singapore so at night time, it would be quite noisy at times. Overall, it's still safe and a good choice for ppl with a limited budget.
It is so convenient for transportation. Easy to get Bugis, City Hall by bus. If you work afew minutes, you can reach to MRT. A lot of food courts are just nearby. Booking with trip.com is so convenient.
The location of the hotel is good, 10 minutes walk from the metro station. 2-3 minutes to the bus station. Good budget hotel for waiting for the flight. Not too far from the airport and the city. The cleanliness is just ok
Clean room. Supplies basic requirements. HairDryer, 2in1 Shower Gel + Shampoo, Toothbrush + Toothpaste, Towels, Floor Mat, Sanitary Bag, Safebox and 4 hanger.Water Pressure is great.TV is sufficiently big and has LIVE TV, Internet TV and Youtube smooth experience. The only cons is the blanket that gets separated from its casing easily, but not much of a problem for us.Overall, very premium and wonderful for a budget hotel for us.Would love to return if require any activities at Geylang/Vicinity.
Room is very small but for me and a friend was enough we just sleep there and rest of the day we were out so we didn't mind small room. Room was clean and I have nothing to complain about. Receptionist are good they help you when you check in and you get a welcome letter :) Neighborhood is quiet even if they have some "massage" activities across the street.
Only 2 minutes walk to the bus stop, a bit further for MRT (approximately 10 minutes slow walking). The room is clean and comfortable. Services are awesome! I called at 12 to ask for early check-in and they said yes without hesitation! Well-prepared staff also helped me fix the sink right away at 11 PM! Highly recommend if you are budgeted travelers but don't want to stay in dorms.
Clean and a little bit roomy compared with the previous accommodation we had. They also serve bottled water coffee tea and there’s a mini refrigerator which the other hotel doesn’t have.
i just need a place to sleep after a long night out, came to this place.I wasn't expecting much on budget hotel,
I'm impress with the cleanliness of the room, the lobby is simple & clean, staff is very nice & helpfull, even lend me a phone charger. Little thing made a difference.. definitely I'll come back again.
Affordable and great location in the middle of the city. They offer hourly rates as well as overnight. Room is a little small, but looks nice and has all basic amenities.
Nice hotel but in the red light district. Friendly staff, clean rooms but not so big. Just a minutes walk away from the main road.
A cheap and small room for 2. Bathroom is really tiny but clean. Room floors could be cleaner, not washed before our arrival and any time during our 3 nights stay.
Service is nice and helpful
The hotel is clean but my room had a cigarette smell which made it a bit uncomfortable. Apart for that, it was good
Hotel 81 premier star is a good place to crashed. Nice welcoming environment. The staff have a grade A services. Im very happy with the friendly and welcoming services. The location however was in the middle of the red light district. But that doesnt stop us from coming. I like coming back to the hotel as the room was super nice. Amazing ambients. Soft beds. But the toilet in d room abit small. This is and always be my favorite hotel.
Room was better than expected. Recommended as long as you don't mind it's near a red-light district. Not too far walking to MRT stations.
Simple, clean rooms with everything you need (soap, toothbrush, bottled water) for a short stay. Rooms are small but well maintained.
Efficient and friendly 24h service.
Nearby several 24h food courts.
Smack in the heart of Geylang a Tip Top hotel that serves guests from all over the world. Clean and well priced affordable for the weary traveler. Nice good natured Staff has a smile for everyone. Great place to stay overnight or a dew days.
Good hotel I booking by agoda. Stay 3 nights 2 person room was clean service is good, Don't worry it safety for you when you walk on street. Easy to buy food and walk a cross road you can buy cheep thing in big supermaket.
Budget hotel. Rooms are decent size compared to others in Singapore. Location is not too good. Geylang area.
But bus stand is just a 50m walk. Didn't try the MRT so don't know where the closet one is.
As for price, rooms are ok, very small but will do for couple days. It's quite far from MRT and Old Airport Road Hawker and generally, neighborhood isn't very pleasant. There are food courts and groceries closer, but I wouldn't eat there again
EXCEPT FOR BEING A SMALL ROOM I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT HOTEL. YOU HAVE TO TELL THE TAXI DRIVER EXACTLY WHICH ONE YOU WANT TO GO TO BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF HOTEL 81s AND EACH ONE HAS A NAME ON THE END OF THE HOTEL 81. MINE WAS HOTEL 81 PREMIERE STAR. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET THAT LAST PART RIGHT.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.
Basic Hotel. Clean, reasonably priced (for Singapore!), helpfull staff and relatively near bus stops and al junied mrt station. Down side is its distance from city center and the fact that it is located in a red lyt district.
Small little room with a small toilet However location is easy access to great entertainment around and also great access to food and drinks
The room is not so big like my country, but it's cheaper and clean for resting. All stuff in the room are enough; hair dryer, locker, hanger, soap & champoo, toothbrush, TV etc. There are a lot of people reserve here.
Still good for 1night stay ,nearby got restaurant but not more selection
Very convenient and comfortable, nearby a lot of eatery and places to visit, happy stay
You get what you pay for. The sink didn't drain much and I complained but they just said small pipe and refused to do anything about it. Room is small but then again you get what you pay for.
Worth the value. Its hard to find a hotel in Singapore selling below their price and worth their value
The place is nice and staff is friendly, the only issue that we had was with the windows because they could not be opened and as we arrived there it was a constant smell of cigarette smoke.
The hotel is fine in some sort, but it is located near the "red light" district of Singapore. Unless you really want to enjoy that, I suggest avoiding book here!
Location is nice! Near lrt & bus stop! Water heater function well!
Very good service, friendly staff and helpful. The rooms were pretty good and the cost very reasonable.
hotel is v clean, well designed & cozy despite located at red district area. not suitable for family with kids.
Great location. Fantastic aircon. Will stay again if price is this good.
I love this place so much! First, the price is cheap. Second, the place is comfy and aesthetic. Third, the room so clean! ❤️
Very pleasent stay of 4 nights, convenient to eat and move around. Godd location and friendly staff.
Great Hotel clean tidy, no food but plenty in the area of a much darker lively area of Singapore
Very things was very goods and will share to my friend and family.
Clean and nice room. Easy access to food and to public transportation. Very happening places at night.
Good location and alot eastries near hotel. Will come back again.
Nice and clean place...i was live there for 3 nights and is ok 10min from train station
I found it good, courteous staff, nice rooms. Overall I would recommend it!
Everything was good and Jade was very polite in serving us
Good place to accomodate. around 800 meters to nearest MRTstation.
A place where you feel it's like ur own home... wonderful management... wonderful staffs too...
A basic hotel that does its job. A comfortable bed and a good shower with a reasonable state of cleanliness and maintenance at an affordable price in Singapore. Quick connection to the center by bus. The metro is further away.|If you are going to be at the hotel to sleep, shower and rest, it is enough.
Even though at first I was surprised because it was a red light area, the hotel itself was very good. The service is good, you can check in first without additional fees, you can leave your suitcase even when checking out. Nice and clean rooms, suitable price
The room is good, very clean, at this price I don't think I'll get a window. The service is good, but the accent is difficult to understand. The location is considered close to the bus stop, but the atmosphere outside is not very suitable, too close to the service center.
18-21/3/67 This time staying here for 6 people + 1 child. Booked through Agoda and got the price for 4 days and 3 nights, 1000 baht per person per night (not counting children). Very cheap. Scream. Booking can be cancelled. Because there will be a cheap price. midnight
Clean hotel, clean rooms, clean, change towels every day.
Leave your luggage before check-in. After checking out
Pay hotel bills using youtrip and pay right away.
Reserved a double bed room, it fits 2 people. The bathroom is quite small, there is no bidet, the shower water is very powerful, very satisfying.
There is a toothbrush set, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, 2 bottles of water per day, hair dryer, and kettle.
But you should prepare soap. It's better to use your own shampoo.
Thai power plug Prepare additional extension plugs.
There isn't much in this zone during the daytime.
There are a lot of people at night. Came out to explore for a nightly meal with two women, but walked carefully, keeping one's head and one's back. Some people look at us as untrustworthy. Cheap food 4$-5$, fresh fruit 1$.
Liter bottled water at the shop in front of the alley, buy 2-3 bottles a day, 1.2$ per bottle, very cheap, divide it into a water bottle, each person carries it. Carry tissues with you.
Taking the bus in front of the alley is very convenient.
The service attitude of the front desk staff (English name: Seven) is very good. The hotel is very clean. This time I had delicious food in Geylang and could also see Singapore's mysterious red light district up close🤓. The only drawback is that the windows cannot be opened and there are no clothes. Place to dry and come back next time😊
Good room, complete equipment The bathroom is small but not uncomfortable. TC has YouTube for you to watch. Staff are willing to serve you. Convenient transportation.
close to the bus stop but a bit far from the MRT.
It's close to the stadium but I couldn't find bus or MRT access close to it on GPSaps, so I suggest walking.
if you walk, the distance is quite good.
cleaned every day.
Every day the drinking bottle is refilled.
It's a bit cramped but it's okay if you just rest and shower.
Cheap hotel for singapore.
The room is fair, 2 suitcases fit and no more. Clean, with independent AA (I clarify because in other comments I said it was central). Very poor cleaning of the common spaces: elevator and hallway floors were always very dirty.
good lighting in the room, it has a mini bar and hair dryer.
Bathroom good!
Musty smell, but with the fan it was bearable. No
Location: area on the outskirts, not level. 30 minutes from tourist areas. From the airport the taxi costs less than 20 USD.
Many cabarets on the same street (don't expect a good neighborhood). several bus stations less than a block away and minimarts. Local restaurants within 50 meters. We didn't try them, because they didn't seem clean to us, but there are options...
24-hour reception, and you can leave your suitcases without problems.
Maybe in advance there are some offers in more central hotels, it was not our case so we ended up in this hotel. I would look for something more touristy next time.
It was a great experience. I went there around 12 noon. But at front desk they gave me a room straight away. Room was good clean so did the bathroom. I felt like it’s more than worth for the price as a budget hotel. There was a receptionist named Thinesh. He demonstrated outstanding hospitality and humanity. My overall experience is very good and I will definitely come again.
Very nice room. Spacious and bright. It feels like everything is new. The bathroom is very pleasant with a large shower cubicle. Super good wifi. Super comfortable mattress. Water, tea and coffee available every day. A little light on the cleaning which is nevertheless done daily. Vacuumed once in a week. Hall air conditioning constantly in North Pole mode. The area is not crazy but the center of Singapore is easily accessible by public transport. Very good value for money.
The rooms are nicely furnished and relatively large for the conditions. However, they weren't completely cleaned when we arrived, which is why there were still black hairs all over the bathroom floor. In addition, the rooms are very noisy. You can hear the other guests in the hallway as if they were standing next to you, which can lead to an early awakening in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although they once forgot to deliver towels to our room.
Stragically located. Short walking distance from Aljunied MRT station. Value for money.
Thank you to Faiz Hakim and Thienesh for the wonderful service that you have provided me during my stay !
Good hotel. Be aware that it is located in the red light district
