Reviews of Cafe USAGI Tokyo
The mochi was a bit raw, I think they should hire someone who is skilled at making mochi. The matcha is nice. It's 19 dollars for matcha and two mochi (grape & strawberry). The fruits are nice but the mochi skin is uhm..
Staff is very friendly and nice.
one of us doesn’t typically like desserts and still really enjoyed the chocolate ice cream x mochi waffle! the long black was really clean tasting too, will be back
Visited for dessert after having sushi.
Needed to order ice cram and waffle separately and you can choose putting ice cream in the top of the waffles.
It was good but I don’t know it was best considering the price. I would like to try mochi l, maybe next time.
the food is very ok. waffles and ice cream were ok too. we asked the staff about how the mochi will be added and she said wrapped within.
when we ordered, the staff did not prompt to ask if we wanted mochi in the ice cream although this is their signature dish. so as a miscommunication, we didn’t get mochi in the ice cream which is what we visited for.
matcha is okay…. had better ones.
nice spot to chill
Decided to try out this new cafe and am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food!
Was there just thinking of trying a scoop of ice cream but was convinced to get a waffle and order a drink. I have to say I really enjoyed every bit of the waffles and the ice cream. I ordered the signature mochi ice cream but made a mistake myself when it arrived I told them I did not order the mochi one. They didn't reconfirm my order and just replaced the mochi one with a normal ice cream and I paid $1 extra for it :(
Everything was so good from the ice cream to the waffles and the tea. As a matcha lover this is a place I will definitely return! Would love to try other flavours of the ice cream as well.
Place is rather small though so be aware!
The waffle was just like the normal waffle, nothing special. We like the mochi with ice cream, the mochi not too thick or thin. The ice cream was quite nice after ate we won't felt thirsty (We ordered the matcha with mochi skin & sea salt with waffle)
Next time will try again the other ice-cream tastes with mochi together 😋
My order 🧾
🍵 Matcha Ice Cream, $5.50
Mochi + $1
🍓 Ichigo Strawberry Daifuku, $6.90
🥤 Hojicha latte (less sugar, cold), $6.80
Matcha Ice Cream + Mochi 🍵
Firstly, the matcha flavour is relatively distinct albeit a little on the milky and sweet side. As for the mochi, it is a tad too thick and chewy that it’s quite impossible to cut 😅 So this is definitely not for sharing guys. You can only use the fork to pull the mochi and bite it off
Ichigo Strawberry Daifuku 🍓
The mochi skin here is thankfully thinner and softer. The juicy and slightly tangy strawberry is well complemented with the red bean paste. Overall, not bad but it is still pretty pricey for just 1 strawberry daifuku 🫢
Hojicha latte (less sugar, cold)🥤
Milky and tastes pretty diluted unfortunately 🫢

Ordered a hojicha lavender ice cream and matcha latte. The ice cream comes with crunchy cacao bits (surprise!) and the mochi is very chewy. Latte is pleasantly smooth too, despite the appearance of having many large sediments.
Fruit Daifuku is very so so. The fruit is not juicy with the mochi skin pretty dry and not soft.
Strawberry milk is served without any shaking and simply milk and added strawberry jam.
Will give it one more chance to the waffle.
Limited seating, not much of a cafe atmosphere since you are basically sitting by the walkway, yet priced like a cafe. Even the mochi waffle was kinda meh.
Only come if you need just a quick fill of ice cream on waffles
It was alright nth great nth bad. The daifuku tastes a little old and wet, not sure is it cos of the strawberry being too overripe or not refrigerated properly. The mochi ice cream was nice but it was wrapped properly so it just came off as one whole sheet later on. Had the samurai blue salt and earl grey smth. Tasted ok but a little icy.
Ice latte wasn’t great. Quite bland.
The mochi (add $1) didn't quite stand out, but the ice cream ($5) was delightfully rich. Opt for tea if you plan to stay a while, as it takes some time for its flavors to develop.
Very unique matcha ice cream. It has a pleasant fragrance that I have not tasted in other matcha ice cream offered in Singapore. It would be good if they could find a way to make the ball stick together though as the ice cream crumbles. I thought the ice cream would not be smooth because of it but the texture of the ice cream was really smooth. I do hope that offer more tea flavours in the future!
The hojicha mochi ice cream at this cafe is a blissful revelation of taste! The rich, roasted green tea flavor of the hojicha combined with the chewy mochi and creamy ice cream creates a heavenly and unique dessert experience. A must-try for anyone seeking a delightful twist on traditional mochi ice cream!
A nice little Japanese cafe at Suntec that offers matcha, Houjicha teas ☕️ and mochi ice cream! They also have strawberry daifuku which is soooo similar to the one in Japan! Highly recommend to visit!!
Amazing ice cream wrapped around a chewy layer of mochi. The ice cream ( chocolate) was thick, creamy and decadent. The mochi was chewy and really adds depth to the ice cream.
They gave us a spork which is so useful to eat the mochi easily.
It gets crowded fast and we were lucky to find seats. The waffle mochi was sold out by the time we arrived though.
Overall would surely come again!
Been craving mochi waffle for awhile now, and also wanting to try the mochi ice cream fad. Glad I managed to catch their last mochi waffle - which was really good. Not sure I’m a fan of mochi ice creams though! Was $14.50 for this mochi waffle + mochi ice cream. Good service but small sitting space.
The mochi waffle is crispy and taste good. 🧇 Ice Caffè latte is not bad too. ☕ Will come back for sure. 👍
Very nice strawberry mochi, packaging presentation can be improved given that Japanese packaging is always the best so when I see them just wrap with plastic wrapper it’s quite not as expected. Nevertheless the mochi is nice, very similar to the one you eat in Japan, except the price is doubled but expected.
Ordered the White Chocolate Macademia and well flavoured ice cream. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Dining in cutlery is cool and amazing, love the cone like design for the scoop :)
Because I came around 9:30pm, didnt had time to dine with coffee or tea to try it. Would come back again for their Rich Chocolate.
Lavender Houjicha Ice Cream was heavenly. It felt like I was actually eating lavender. Had to get another cup after the first one.
Mochi skin was way too thick. It was impossible to grab a small piece of mochi with the ice cream as the entire piece of mochi would just get dragged along.
Tl;dr: Lavender Houjicha Ice Cream is highly recommended. Mochi Skin, not so much.
Mochi fans, this is the place to get ur mochi ice cream! The matcha ice cream is great too! Love the mochi waffles
Visit was on CNY Eve morning. We were informed they are operating on half day. It was a quiet and serene visit. Order was sea salt and lavender ice cream with matcha latte. I asked about the daily handmade daifuku and got a strawberry as a takeaway. It was my favourite item for this visit.
This is a delayed post.
Tried the chocolate mochi ice cream and matcha ice cream with waffle. Ice cream was quite good, not too sweet and good texture. The mochi is worth the price however waffle was too undercooked, still wet and raw. The portion, two square pieces also with the taste doesn’t seem worth for $6.50
Overall okay place to come for dessert their ice cream was quite good👍
Loved the Signature Mochi Ice cream. Its something hard to come by.
The flavours they have are apecial and great too. Highly recommend the coconut miso and chocolate (forgot the actual name). But you are able to sample them before ordering.
Been here 3 times. Generally, service is not bad, but depends on who is on duty. 😀
Unfortunately no pictures as it was too good, and we finished it quickly. The hojicha was amazing - bitter in the after taste, perfect after a heavy meal - and the mochi skin very soft and natural flavour.
A simple Japanese desserts cafe along the walkway of Suntec City that serves pretty good ice cream. They’re more famously known for their matcha ice cream($6) and sea salt ice cream($5.50). Give it a try with their waffles as well!
Went there on a weekend evening and thought of trying them out after seeing them on social media. Wanted to get two mochi skin ice creams but they only had one mochi skin by the time we ordered. Nevertheless, we got the lavender hojicha and hokkaido milk & vanilla. I had the former and thought it was pretty tasty, it was sweet, had a fragrant lavender taste and I especially like the added crunch. My friend ordered the latter with the last mochi skin and according to her, it was ok but apparently too icy. Also ordered a cold matcha latte and thought that was the most disappointing. For $6.80 (iirc), the matcha was pretty clumpy. I’m guessing they didn’t mix the matcha powder properly and at the right temperature. Service was ok but there’s a lot of room for improvement. It was a bit slow due to the lack of manpower and the staff seem crumble at the pressure of a growing crowd. The star was really the ice cream so I hope to see them improve and become more stable!
Matcha and sea salt ice cream are so good. The price definitely worth it.
Tried the Matcha and Rich chocolate flavours. Matcha ice-cream was decent, with a deep flavour, albeit similar to one of my favourite cup ice-cream - Morinaga MOW Matcha which is less expensive. Personally liked the rich chocolate more, as it's really rich as per the name! Was surprised at the bittersweet flavour. Overall, the ice-cream at Cafe Usagi was decent 👍🏻
Rich chocolate IC enrobed in mochi. Very big portion, can share
We dream of this ice cream every day. The salt and vanilla milk flavours are so good.
Good place for eating dessert and coffee, level 2 suntec city tower 3
Very good
Ice cream is quite rich and their mochi waffles is yummy. Would definately come here again
Friendly staff. Good ice cream
tea was pretty good, but I'd say it's kind of pricey. if it was 6 dollars I'd totally come back.
Foods are okay, but the service is good tho.
respect how they handles those psycho peoples everyday in sg.
