Reviews of Albert Centre Market & Food Centre
Really great place to eat and shop around. A huge number of shops to look and mingle among the locals. Good for tourists and locals. The food are reasonably priced and of good standards. The nearby Buddhist temple and Hindu temple are worth a visit. The dried goods and snacks stall at the top level are worth walking around too. The shopping centres around are also great to walk around. The watch shops are interesting as well!
Came rushing in for a smoothie, but regretted not being able to stay longer! Place has lil more ‘clean food’ and healthy stalls it feels and definitely going back again to explore more
My favourite Peanut porridge, chee cheong fun and Bee hoon!
Must try!!!
1.30 for porridge.
1.30 for CCF
1.30 for beehoon - that a double portion so 2.60.
Total spent $6.50 for 1A1C.
No doubt its all carbs.
Texture of CCF and Bee hoon have good bounce..
Sweet sauce isn't overly sweet paired with their chilli..
Peanut Porridge simple clean flavours but so tasty.. w Crispy fried Bee hoon to add a special taste and flavour..
I usually get 1 bowl of each for myself. But today I shared the CCF with my girl..
If you visit Bugis Street, try Hawkers Albert Center. The only affordable option in the bugis area. This area is packed full of amazing food, even though it's a bit messy and looks like an old building. I tried eating in Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle & Ser Kee Restaurant.
At level 3, great place for purchasing dried goods like mushrooms, seafood, nuts..In this period, lots of CNY snacks at great prices. Highly recommended for those who are looking for great bargains. Hawker ctr at level 1.
Being a local, I'm surprised I have never stepped foot into Albert Centre. If not for the fact that I had to replace the wheels of my suitcase, I would not have discovered such a gem in Singapore! The food is really great, and it's a paradise upstairs where so many experienced and seasoned local folks shop and look for all kinds of treasure... I read from other reviewers how this place will be really crowded nearing Lunar New Year - I can so see why!
Great hawker centre with lots of food options. We stayed at Rendezvous Hotel and ate here a lot, only 7 mins walk. Cash only like most food centres.
Great array of various cuisines drinks and desserts to fit your budget and personal preferences. This food center could improve on cleanliness and ventilation.
As a prawn noodle lover, decided to try the "火城大虾面". The soup is indeed robust and flavourful. The noodle is yummy with the tasty chilli paste. However, the pork rib is a bit tough, with mild favour. The prawns are ok. In terms of eating experience, it is quite a pain to try de-shell the prawn with the filmsy delicate disposable spoon and chop stick. For $7.50, one would expect at least some decent cutlery. For prawn soup lover, it is still recommended.
Great hawker here in Singapore! Tasted many different food and all of them are great! It is in Bugis area so it is quite crowded!
Lots of good food, everything we tried today was good. Was there at about 8am to takeaway, some stalls already had queues. Recommend the porridge and chwee kueh👍
Great place to get hawker food. Good prices. Used by locals. Covered area. Love it. Living like a local!
Came to try the pork rice but it was just average and not worth photo taking.
Waited almost 30 mins.
But the bean spouts with Cockles was good!
3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ goes to them.
There is wide variety of fantastic food. Bought the bee hoon chicken set and Nasi lemak fish set ($3 each set) for my wife. The bee hoon was in a generous portion and the chicken wing was still hot and crispy. Also, the slice of luncheon meat was twice as thick as what I got elsewhere. The nasi rice was fragrant and the ikan bilis were crispy. For the price of $3, I think it’s very economical! I like the dessert from this stall 甜品之家。I got the mo mo cha cha for $2 and it was delicious and the jellies inside were soft. The green bean soup cost $1.50 and the portion you get is definitely worth the money. The western food stall looks popular as there are always people placing orders. Bought some for my kids. I think the prices are very reasonable.
Excellent choices, photos are from Stall 85, Mee Goreng was very tasty. Customer service was great. It does get busy at this stall which is great, the locals clearly recognise great food
Bustling food court with wide selection of food, from halal to non halal food. There’s one famous yong tofu place but i forgot to take picture, definitely worth the wait!! I myself had nasi biryani from one of the indian stall, low price yet good portion and definitely delish!
Indonesian food, and their are many more nice and good food here.
Its not well maintained but the food and this dessert is so refreshing we eat here twice and I can really recommend this food center.
Many choices but the light abit dim for a food court.
I have been tried few stall and this round I try the pickled shredded pork noodle.
$5 for a adult is enough.
Must try Say Seng cooked food. The wild boar pork belly mixed with homemade sourly garlicky chili sauce is fantastic. Find the store with the longest queue - opens around 3 pm. Minimum price is $5.
I loved this place because it has many places to eat and different things from meals to desserts the cost is very low and the food is very delicious. The problem is that when people eat they do not remove their plate. They leave it on the table until they get to clean but it's great this place will definitely go again.
Been coming here for many years. Food is top rated and price is value.
Very stall food is good.
A hawker centre where you can find lots of local food stall at very good value. I tried this 百年 which only offer a noodle bowl with a combination of stuffed beancurd, bitter gourd. This cost sG$4.5 but still keep Long queuing.
Located at the intersection of Albert Street and Queen Street, Albert Centre is famed for its local delights at the hawker center on the first level and is a market for dried seafood items and textiles on the upper floors.
Among the favourites are:
1) Bai Nian Niang Dou Fu
2) Guan Kee Black Carrot Cake
3) Pondok Makan Indonesia
Albert Street is named after Prince Albert, the consort of Queen Victoria of England in 1858. Regrettably, most of the stalls here do not accept QR Pay.
Take MRT to Bugis station and then walk to Bugis Junction, u will see a lot of chinese street stalls. I tried fried Kway Teow Mee (sg 3) and Honey Lime Juice (sg 1.5) today.
All the food and beverage are made in front of you. That means everything are fresh. The price is cheap but they taste good and they are clean. Lots of local ppl eating there.
Been here for the first time, always pass by this area but never tried before. The hawker there was super friendly and nice. They do serve decent food.
Everytime i come back for a visit, this is a must come place, to support local business, local food culture, and appreciate the hard work hawkers have put in.
Most stores have been here for more than a decade.
For the locally famous fishball store, they are closed on Monday as the fish market does not trade on Monday. Between 7am - 1030am, the store with a long queue is the one I'm talking about, you can't miss it. It's called Hock Lee Fishball Noodle.
Tried the pork leg rice with mmeat cake. Overall $7.9. solid meal. A bit dry, maybe will be nicer with a bit of gravy. Place is kinda humid and hot
Only Hawkers Centre I have been to so I can't compare, but the food was good, drinks were so-so, and it's overall a great experience.
Had laksa, chicken/duck/pork rice, durian at a nearby stand just to see what it's all about, soya/grass drink ("Michael Jackson - Black and White), Milo Dinosaur (do not recommend), and teh tarik (highly recommend).
BRING YOUR OWN WIPES/NAPKINS! Try to use the bathroom before you head out for a Hawkers Centre.
Very busy food market at Albert Centre selling many varieties of food at reasonable price. It's not very quiet and hygienic place but we still enjoy the atmosphere at the dinner time.
Many choices of food and beverage
Located inside a building, no Ac, I think it looks like a "traditional market" because too many people, less air circulation, too hot inside, dirty tables, and very hard to find empty table.
So many options! There are workers constantly cleaning. You can always find an open spot even when it’s very busy. I had the best cendol ever and tried couple new dishes.
If u wanna experience sg culture- food center is a must go place. One is this Albert food center. Popular, tasty Singapore food. Finest ingredients and tasty extremely delicious.. esp soya bean and steam "rice cake"
Great food with great price and variety.
Beside those many popular stall , One of the under rated stall here I like is the Indian rojak stall at the corner near the stair at the side entrance.
I like the mee siam . Indian mee siam is less oily compare to Malays version. And this stall have the perfect receipt. Try for yourself .
Great food market!
Busy food centre with alot of varieties for local delight. Avoid peak hour if possible. It will be challenging finding seats.
This food centre is quite a favourite for both local and tourist.
One of the Must Eat - Banana Fritter (facing the road)
Today I ate fried noodle from Ban Heng Nasi Lemak/fried Mee Hoon stall.. cost was abit too steep which I knew when I was about to order. The petai beans (臭豆) is main culprit 😅. Noodle at $1.50, beans at least $2 & sum up with an egg, total cost is $4.50. Sound more expensive than a normal cai peng (菜饭)。
5 stars for food sold here
1 star for government agency responsible for this hawker centre
Most stalls unlike food court the chef is the owner. They take a lot of pride in their cooking.
Pork organ soup store is my favourite. Guess when the old man retire, this dish will be a dying art
Govt of Sg should invest some of its wealth in not only providing better work, hygiene and customer experience but to have tourist share and enjoy this culture . Young people will start appreciating this and wvwm go into the trade
Sure everything cost money but once this is gone, Singapore will have all artificial food cooked by foreign labourers . A worthwhile investment otherwise our descendants will just see this in wax figures in museums.
Great variety of local food to select from. One of the favourite local hawker centres in Singapore. Price is much affordable compare to food courts in shopping malls.
Quite run down by today's standard. Hot and lacks ventilation. My opinion is its overdue for upgrading and/ or cleaning. Food wise average.
I recommended everyone to eat at Albert Food Court. There are many kinds of food to eat. Tasty but cheap.
A hawker centre in Bugis area.
A wide variety of food available.
Though slightly more expensive than other hawker centres, it is still considered cheap compared to other cafes/restaurants here.
Very crowded and hard to get seats.
Best place to eat all local delicious hawker fares from Ma Po noodles to red bean desserts! And if you get to the 3rd floor, a lot of wholesale edible plums and sweets and even traditional herbs awaits you!
This is THE PLACE to get all your dried goods - from dried anchovies (ikan bilis) to dried oysters, dried mushrooms and dried scallops to Chinese sausages (lap cheong)… the list goes on. The place is always packed especially during the period leading up to Chinese New Year.
Lots of nice local food in here. Just follow those with long queues. There's famous yong tau foo, local desserts like tau suan, chin chow, soya bean and my favorite goreng pisang, fried tapioca and Bedok chee kueh.
Like this place for the Loh Mee, just one notch below the Whampoa Hawker center Loh Mee. If this Bukit Purmei Loh Mee get their crispy meat balls crisper and small. Then these 2 are hard fight. Whampoa one is pricier, this stall will have better traffic flow. Actually, was hunting for this B P Loh Mee for a long time. Glad to find it, need to control my addiction.......
Good food and affordable. This briyani is from Mohamed Jaleel Muslim Food. Tender chicken and flavourful rice and curry. Overall cleanliness of the place can be improved but for a hawker standard is good.
Decent variety of food stalls with a couple of halal options but still a majority of Chinese dishes. Noisy and crowded, not very hygienic despite elderly cleaners going around to clear the tables.
Fried fish laksa from Ma Bo lor mee - super tasty laksa gravy. Came with generous portion of fried fish. This food centre could do with a food safety audit. Good selection of food on offer but the general standard of hygiene could be a problem
Nice hawker centre with market. There are many dried food shops at upper level too. A must go place for LNY shopping for sweets and dried food.
Worth Trying.
Over 2/3s of stalls are closed (Came here Sunday/Monday during F1) meaning there's not a lot of variety. Thankfully there's 1 of each type generally open.
Typical cleanliness for a hawker place. Fans. Birds can be inside.
See my Soon Lee review of Char Kway Mee.
Cash only.
Savour famous and interesting food at very affordable prices at this centrally located hawker centre !
With the lunar new year coming, this place is packed with shoppers for goodies and dried seafood, mushrooms, nuts and chinese herbs. They are much cheaper here. Location is just opposite Bugis MRT, walk through Bugis Centre. You will see Albert Centre. There is a market and food court on ground floor and on 3rd floor is where you will find dried seafood. Besides the building, there is rishaw centre where tourists can take rishaw rides.
An easily accessible hawker centre filled with a broad range of stalls selling affordable local delights 🤩
Good selection of affordable food although it can get crowded at times. I love the porridge from Li Fang Porridge. The you tiao was super crunchy and the porridge was nicely seasoned.
Good food, crowded on weekends. Only issue is that it’s really dirty for hawker centre standard.
Busy food centre. Very crowded during lunch time. Plenty selection and nice 👍 food.
There are many nice food that reviewed by many food bloggers; pig innards soup x 2, fried carrot cakes, hock hai or Hong Lim complex curry chicken noodle, and an over hype fried kway teow. But, I will never miss my favourite Wat Tan Hor (滑蛋河)or Creamy egg sauce flat rice noodles. It had not attracted any review so far, but the aroma, taste, and wok hei brought me back to Chinatown Singapore during my childhood days. I had tasted wat tan hor in KL, Penang, and Ipoh, they are tasty in their own ways but did not evoke my memories.
The stall is 85 little eatery or 85 小妙。
Public parking is more expensive than nearby malls. It's better to park at Bugis+ and walk a bit over. Lots of food stalls. Can be lost for choice.
I was looking around for Nasi Padang at their food centre. I was stoked to find one pretty good one, which was opened by a Chinese Couple. Pretty impressive, I would say!
This is a very popular hawker centre. Lots of great food.
Some of my favorite stalls are:
Kway Chap, Fish soup, morning Mee Pok, Tao Suan, lor mee, porridge, Chwee kueh, Indian rojak etc.... never short of good stalls
Food court is good. Nice food and desserts especially nonya chendol. Level 3 is a whole food centre for dry food. Very good quality and cheap.
#01-110 Cambridge Fresh Fruit Juice Uncle is very friendly and honest!
He offer nice, fresh genuine and generous fruit juice better than other store that I bought just behind his stall is more expensive and diluted.
I will definitely come back for more Cambridge Fresh Fruit Juice!
Authentic hawker food at its best! Noticeable lack of tourists which adds to the authenticity. Lines can be long but as expected for great value local grub.
Good variety of delicious food. Mostly clean but birds are frequently picking up scraps from the tray return area.
Pork knuckle rice with salty vegetable.
The pork knuckle is very juice and traditional 鹵味taste 。excellent
Tasty and Affordable Meals I they deserve my 5 stars ⭐
Good and delicious dishes.
I highly recommend it
a place which local and foreign tourists mixed ... sort of a 'historical' atmosphere ... there're food centre which carter to mostly local cuisines ... and some foreign delights ... you can freely 'roam' as you like ... 😊
Good value and portion, only $3.
A nice cendol at there and a lot of delicious food choices
This is the place you going for Singapore local food......
Long queue as not many stalls open at 8am on saturday
There are many varieties of food here to choose from. Many many old stalls sell delicious food. Seats are available even at lunch crowd
A hawker center where you can enjoy a local feel and is used by many locals.
There are many stores open, and you can sit at any available seat and eat in a food court-like style.
At Chinese stores, many of the staff didn't speak English, so we had to order using gestures. That said, everyone seemed to be cooperative and didn't seem bothered.
Prices are quite cheap compared to restaurants in Singapore.
However, since it's outdoors, there's no air conditioning, so it can be quite a pain on hot days. There is a roof so rain is not a problem.
Halal food is at the end of the aisle (you can follow the "more Muslim food" signs)
There are various typical Malay, Indonesian and Arabic foods available
Prices are relatively cheap, starting from 2 dollars for snacks, and starting from 5 dollars for heavy meals
The food portion is quite large and can serve 2 people
My recommendation is to try Teh Tarik, Ice Lemon Tea, Chicken Fried Rice, and Pita Bread + Chicken, the spices taste mild, but not spicy/makes your stomach hot.
Don't forget to return the tray/cutlery to the place provided (marked for returning halal trays only)
Enjoy ❤️
The dining environment inside is a bit stuffy and the cleanliness is not very good. There are not many food stalls at night. If you want to save money in Singapore, you can go to the cooked food center to eat. It is cheaper than outside restaurants. The portions are not large but you can still feel full.
#喖宝mabo, the Chicken Chop Laksa is SGD 4 ($92). Although the taste of laksa is different from what I remember, it is still delicious.
In addition, my friend went to order from another restaurant and heard that there were many people queuing up at that time, so he followed the queue and ordered the kway teow and braised mei platter. The taste was very special but very salty. It was not delicious. It was a taste not found in Taiwan.
Here I found Indonesian food, but because I only brought non-cash and I only had a little cash, I ended up eating nasi lemak for 3.8 dollars. The portions are large and there is a halal place to eat at the very end.
+ Many food choices at quite affordable prices. The food portions are really big😅
+ There is a halal food section with quite a lot of choices
+ There is a place selling dry food and other goods on the top floor
+ There is a pigeon that walks casually under the table, not afraid of humans😆
There are a lot of seats but there is no air conditioning and it’s very hot so I didn’t eat 🤣
It was too late and I didn’t go to the dry goods area on the 3rd floor. I heard it’s cheaper to buy Bak Kut Teh bags here💰
Delicious 😋
When you're done eating, you should keep it yourself.
This country is prosperous. Everything is expensive.
Porridge 200++ per cup
For many nights, I've gone bankrupt.
This is a hawker center near Bugis. Around the hawker center, street stalls sell clothes and daily necessities at low prices.
There are many types of restaurants, and like any other hawker center, there is always a line for the famous and delicious restaurants.
I went to a house where the wife made the wonton noodles and the husband, the owner, cooked the wonton noodles inside. It was good for a light, inexpensive breakfast and the meal was convenient. I ate stir-fried wantan noodles and it was delicious. This restaurant is perfect.
The wonton seemed to be small, but it was very easy to eat in just one bite.
The food was good, but the hygiene at the place where you return the dishes after eating was not very good.
