This is also one of the original 3 stores that sell cai fan (菜饭) at the 4th floor food place. Both were operated by elder folks and they had both left the business. So this is the only cai fan store left. 28 Economical Rice is also selling Teochew style porridge in place of rice. However, today I can around 2pm and there are no more porridge left. My favorite dishes are the braised chicken wings and egg. Today they also cooked braised pig skin. I also like their steamed egg. They have numerous dishes and they cater to people with different preferences. The Q can be very long during lunch time but generally quite fast. They were previously at #04-65 and 28 Economical Rice is now at #04-66 which was previously a Thai food store.

Good food at good prices. Staffed by friendly people too. Side note: In my eyes, economic rice / mixed rice / cai fan stalls act as one of the bulwarks against the rising cost of living. Yes, their prices have increased, but they are one of the few places that can offer a full and balance meal for under $5 or $4. We should treasure them.

Popular stall within food center, expect to queue that clears quite fast. Fried fish recommended, if that's available. Reasonable price/portion.

They have literally watched and fed my boys now to young adults since primary school where they settle their lunch afterschool tuition days Very friendly and their servings are great !
