Reviews of Buta Kin @ Beauty World Centre
Super! Must try! I am sure going to be back!
Amazing and for reasonable price.
Food... yummy! I love the rich soup base of the ramen. Tried the black garlic soup base, yum! The white base is equally good!!! The portion is good, more than enough! The pork slices are just too good! The onsen eggs are so good. Had items 12 and 17. Going to try others next time.
Definitely a must try if you are at this place.
There's free noodles upsize. There's also more affordable lunch sets. So check out the menu.
Owner is patient and quick.
Stall is right at a corner, be warn that weekend can be busy. There's a nice space right in front of stall.
Ordered:
- 1 x Special Tonkotsu Ramen
- 1 x Red Tonkotsu Ramen + Osen Egg
Total: $15.70
The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the crisply fried meat. At such an economical price, it's no surprise this place is highly rated.
Recommended!
Excellent curry rice. Piping hot and crispy pork cutlet matched with silky smooth Japanese curry and steaming rice.
One of the best curry rice I have had.
The curry packs some spice is not the all-sweet curry sauce. Cutlet is flavourful; the crunch and temperature of the meat is excellent!
One of the star outlets of this hawker centre. Atmosphere is what you would expect of a hawker centre. The pigeons are a problem for this hawker centre but shouldn't distract you from the good food.
Their curry rice is very delicious and their rice portion is just nice . Their salmon is soft and this is a very good place to eat.
I purposedly went to Beauty World Food Centre just to try this ramen stall. I read that this stall is one of the 'must try' in the list. I went through the menu and saw that the ramen called BLACK KING (GARLIC) has 3 thumbs up sign. I ordered a bowl costing $9.90. It did not disappoint me. The broth is tasty with rich umami flavor while the noodles are al dente. The thing that I liked most is the barbecue slices of pork with nice charred flavor while maintaining the tenderness of the meat. It also comes with cabbage, japanese style soft boiled egg, and generous topping of bonito flakes. I would definitely recommend this stall. An affordable ramen that is only a fraction of cost than a normal ramen would be.
A perfect ramen. I ordered Black King $9.90. The ramen is perfectly cooked, not soggy, awesome fresh tasty broth, with generous portion of smoky tonkotsu. Despite busy with lots of orders, the uncle is friendly and fast serving efficiently. Highly recommended.
I was intrigued by the reviews since they are either about the good food or about the angsty stall owner. Had a chance to go there and try, turns out both are correct. The food is good and very much worth the price but be prepared to be greeted by the not so friendly stall owner.
Don't, let this simple stall front deceive you. Their tonkotsu broth ramen are very good and could give those big name restaurants a run for their money.
Prices are pretty reasonable too.
Expect to queue during peak hours especially on weekends.
Ordered their normal ramen and the taste of the broth is pretty strong yet not too oily. The pork was well done too with no gamey smell.
The Eggs could be marinated longer though.
Overall pretty good bowl of ramen for $6.50. ($1 for the egg)
Ordered their Tonkotsu red ramen to try and I love it! It's not spicy and the flavour was amazingly good. Meat was tender too!
Ordered takeaway for the Katsu Curry Rice & the Original Ramen set meal which came with cold tofu & a drink.
The Katsu Curry Rice was nice! Crispy and generous with the meat.
However, can’t say the same for the ramen. Only gave one piece of Chasu and it’s a bit sour… The soup and noodles were lacklustre. Tbh it might be because of the delivery, will come down in real life to try again.
Authentic ramen taste below $6?
Yes but the main difference is that it is in a non air-conditioned environment. But goodness i was shock at how thick the slice of meat (see photos) that i took 3 shots of each dimensions. Thicker than my chopsticks!
Soup is really satisfying. Enough spring onions and fungus and legit noodles. I haven tried giving "additional" instructions for hardness of noodles and if the soup taste can be adjusted.
But the quality of meat and soup for $6 deserves this a 5 star anytime in Singapore =)
For the price of the ramen and the quality that you get, it's definitely very value for money (that's why the 5 stars)
The noodles texture were cooked just right and the broth was just as good as many other famous ramen stalls.
Ordered the special for SGD7. 50
First look presentation is good as everything is laid out nicely. The broth is tasty but it heavy while the ramen is springy and Chewy. The grill pork is char on one side which gives it a good texture and very yummy. Portion is just right.
Was there for early lunch around 1130am on 10th Nov. Ordered the signature ramen noodle n was delighted to report that bowl of noodle is delightful tho the broth can be richier but good enough. Hope they can stay around and serve the community with such a comfort bowl of food . Thank You
Wasn't expecting too much when I tried this store, having tried many 'authentic' ramen places when I visited Japan in the past. I have to say though, this place exceeded my expectations.
The broth is nice and thick, although I would say it can't be compared to the best broths I've had overseas. But overall, it's still very good especially for the price I really got no complains at all. However the
dishes they are lacking a bit of authenticity in the sense that they use takoyaki flakes and minced meat in some of their ramen which is seldom seen used in Japan.
Where they really shine though is in their generous servings of char siew. It's really huge and amazing considering the price. Hard to find a better value for money ramen in Sg.
Got the special ramen (item no 1 on the menu) and waited 2 hrs plus before eating at home. Just by heating it up, it was still very good. The noodle is slightly thicker than usual and the soup base had a tinge if herbal chicken taste to it which was quite unique, even though it’s tonkatsu. The meat was smoked superbly, really good.
Quality ramen that is value for money.
Soup broth is balanced without being salty or fatty.
The roast pork is of a lean cut with a nice char.
Love the cabbage which is fresh and leafy.
Overall good value for money with the add ons.
I have eaten some other food before this and thinking I should not miss out a $5.50 ramen deal and,
I am glad I go ahead and buy this $5.50 ramen as it is the best value ramen I ever have.
The pork they grill it , thick and lots of meat. The noodle portion is so big.
Soup is thick like those in restaurant.
The standard$7.5 have egg and extra meat and seaweed is more value if you going to try it.
Highly recommend 👍
Tried the tonkatsu ($6.50). The pork was fresh (at this price point, can't expect top notch quality) and well fried, and the rice came smothered with enough Japanese mild curry sauce to mop up with. No shredded cabbage was included though, but I still enjoyed the meal.
Decent ramen for the price. Ordered tonkotsu and feel soup cannot match up to restaurant, the taste is quite different. However, the char siew is so good!!
Their charsiu-don is hands down my favourite thing to get at this food court. I've never tried their ramen because I always get this. The pork is usually fatty and quite tender, and they use Japanese rice too. It also comes with a bowl of their tonkotsu soup!
I had the red tonkatsu ramen. Uncle did a great job cooking the noodles. The pork soup was tasty, not too rich. Overall very satisfied. $6.80 where to find??
Exceed expectation. A gem yet to be discovered for those who have not try it or thought it’s overpriced until u taste the flavour & its quality. Highly recommend the tonkotsu ramen at $6.90 a bowl. U will not be disappointed. Worth the price tag considering that they give u 3 thick slices of melt-in-your-mouth char siew scorched with a blowtorch, perfectly cooked tamago egg with slight hint of mirin, sake & soysauce, with 2 pieces of seaweed sheets that taste best when soaked in the colagen-laden tonkotsu soup.
Simply love ButaKin's Black King Ramen, keeps me coming back at least once a month. Love the generous portions and wonderful tastes of the tonkotsu broth and the chargrilled prok slices. If you have been to Zero Ramen in Sapporo before 2019 and loved it there, you must try ButaKin's Black King Ramen 🍜
Had the tonkotsu ramen 🍜 it was delicious. The broth has definitely improve from last time, the char siu was charred on one side and soft on the other. Quite delicious 🤤 overall. In my opinion the ramen egg could could be slightly improved since the soy marinade didn’t penetrate into the egg but nevertheless will keep coming back to eat at Buta Kin!
Edit: I just realised this is the same store in NTU Can 1 last time!!! omg can't believe I found it again 😭😭❤
Got two bowls at $15 with egg. Pork slice is to die for because its charred real nice. Noodles are chewy and the soup is really nice as well - not too thick and you won't feel sick by the time you finish your bowl.
Highly recommend and will definitely come again!!!
Coming to this place you have to dampen your expectation a bit. It is in most measure respect a respectable bowl of ramen but it is not stellar. The owner definitely nailed the heart of ramen: it's broth. It is not the best tonkotsu broth out there but you will be surprised how much effort he put into it. For a 6 dollar ramen, the broth is on par with some 16 dolar ramen out there, the taste won't lie. The noodles are sufficient, char siew is forgettable and ajitama is not good. However, I really really want the owner to succeed and improve his recipe. 5 stars all the way.
Buta Kin is located in the hawker center where ham bao bao also is.
Buta Kin serves multiple types of Ramen but this is the tonkotsu that we had.
The soup was a bit thin for Ramen, but at the price that's half of what you usually pay, it was good enough.
The portion offerings were quite generous, and on par with most other ramen outlets. The Chashu seemed to have beem grilled on one side howevee, instead of being broiled. Still juicy though.
All in all, not worth travelling very far for, but if you're in the area, definitely value for money.
I tried the black garlic ramen and it was surprisingly appetising! The noodles are chewy, the pork belly is charred to perfection and the soup is addictive. I didnt expect myself to finish the whole bowl even the soup. Please pardon the aunty for a straight face because she has been standing for the whole day. She must be feeling tired. She is a nice lady!
The best value ramen I ever had. $6.90 for a bowl of ramen with 3 pieces of great charsiew? No where else you could get that. It may not be of air-con environment, but the food is definitely of restaurant quality.
quite frankly haven’t found a more affordable good ramen place than this. A bowl is filling yet the soup is light enough I don’t feel bad after eating. Been here at least a dozen times and it ain’t stopping anytime soon.
Cheap and good authentic Ramen. With charred pork. A lot of effort being put into the bowl for a very affordable price. Well done!
Standard of food is not as good as before. The char siew is tough and dry. The service is bad. The auntie is so rude. They also did not state that they have fave pay besides cash payment as their only payment option and when i found out myself and tell her i want to pay with fave pay, she say its too late and seems to be really irritated with me. They also increase their prices alr .
Value for money if you are looking for a legit bowl of ramen. Personally I find the texture of the ramen abit lacking and tastes closer to that of Chinese’s. But anyway it is a good option if you are at the beauty world hawker centre
The pork was really crispy and soft, the noodles were also a good texture. A really great order :)
Visited because it was Foodking Good. Under-delivered. Broth is good. Meat provided had a good char but was not seasoned. Having visited many other Foodking Good stalls, the good was a little below expectation.
Decent ramen for the price. Good for a cheap and quick meal
One of the best tasting cheap Japanese stall. The broth of the soup is awesome. Not forgetting the spicy miso pork don, that’s the best!
One of the best hawker ramen you can find in Singapore. Don’t not expect to taste like restaurant quality
Ramen was very reasonably priced and service was relatively fast. The ingredients were huge, makes for a very filling meal.
meat is quite good. broth is ok. price is exellent. good if you're in the area but I wouldn't go too far out of my way for it
So cheap and so worth! Soup is nice and flavourful and noodles are soft yet springy! Recommended for the cheap value 🍜😊
The food is made fresh and is very value for money. Definitely recommend this to everyone who like tonkatsu and curry rice.
Hard to find ramen in food centre. Taste good. Yummy ramen egg..
Just normal for me. Pair it with the gyozas/xiao long bao from the hawker stall nearby.
Delicious Signature ramen!
Decent curry rice serving size also good
I found the food tasty
