Reviews of Embassy of Japan in Singapore
EDIT: For those who wants to get notified when an appointment slot becomes available for Japan Tourist Visa appointment booking system, you can look for “SGAlertsJapanVisaTourism” in Telegram to subscribe. Hope it helps!
August 2024 Multi-Entry Application: I went to the embassy again for 2nd time as I’m travelling to Japan again on October. Do note you will need a flight booked when applying for your visa. I got my appointment using my Telegram service and prepared all the documents needed as mentioned in their website, read carefully their instructions there on what to provide and whether original or photocopy needed, as well as the order of documents so it is smoother once you go to their counter. Do also print your flight itinerary and submit to them along with the rest. Embassy was packed and full this time compared to my first application. Get your ticket from the queue system. I waited about 30 minutes before it was my turn. There was only 2-3 counters opened. When it was my turn, staff collected and checked my documents, she also told me that my first day in Japan is Day 0 so I guess take note when counting your days, she didn’t ask me to change anything on my form though. They will also collect your original passport as they will stamp the visa inside. Fee was free for me as I hold a Philippine passport. Otherwise you will need to pay by cash and they have a new policy regarding coins, can only accept up to 10 $1 coins starting August 2024. Not sure whether you pay after submitting or after collection cause I saw people paying during collection. They gave me an acknowledgment slip which indicates the date and time range I can collect my visa/passport. I collected 2 days later instead of the indicated one due to my work commitments. It was again packed and full, I got about 26 people ahead of me in the queue system. I waited almost an hour for my turn. There was only one counter handling collection.
January 2023 Single-Entry Application: I went to Embassy of Japan in Singapore for my Japan Tourist Visa (Single Journey). I have an appointment booking confirmation and all the required documents with me, everything went fast and smooth. No fuss. There were very little people and they handle each person quite fast. I only spent about 15 - 20 minutes inside the embassy and got my acknowledgement slip. Their area is quite small so it is understandable that they need to use an appointment system to limit people. Only the person that needs to apply for visa can go inside the embassy. Do note that they will take your original passport for processing and you can only collect it back on the date specified in the acknowledgement slip.
Good greetings readers. Today I received my visa. The process is very efficient and quick. The counter number '5' lady officer is generous and helpful. If you miss any thing then there are print copies of forms, you can refill and submit there. The officers will give you time and also adjust you in-between. The visa fee is also resoanble. The only one thing I would suggest to develope is the website and the appointment page. No croweded and no rush, over all I really appreciate promptness. Million thanks to The Japan Embassy of Singapore.
Easy process. Start to look for appt schedule 3mos ahead of intended travel to avoid rushing. Find the visa application guide for your country and follow step by step. Processing was very fast.
Arrived 8:15 for 8:30 appt - strictly no walk ins. No queue yet but people started to arrive soon after. Security checked my appointment email. I had to go through security check - metal detector gate and bag scan. Then I went to the visa processing area. Processing started at 8:33. When called, I provided all documents required in the order they requested. I was done with visa processing in 5min.
Had a good experience dealing with the embassy regarding visa. The toll free line and embassy enquiry line were handled by staff who knew what you need and provide appropriate relevant response. Enjoyed speaking to them. Exceeded expectations!
Visited the embassy today with scheduled appointment. From the security to the counter staff, everything were systematic and super efficient. Left the embassy in 10 mins, smiling. (Parked 20m away from entrance of embassy, since we are scheduled visitors, it doesn’t appear to have problem)
Was one of the lucky ones to book an appointment (booked 2 months in advance).
Arrived at the Embassy around 8:15am and there were atleast 30 people queuing. Staff were efficient as we were called after 30-40mins.
Passport collection scheduled in 5 working days.
Tip: Prep all your documents. For tourist visa, flight tickets are not mandatory (pls check the embassy page before you go), but you are required to list your daily itinerary even for multiple visa requests (not in their website).
Tightened security, there is no more parking available for the public unfortunately, the nearest parking place is about 10mins walk away.
Their guidelines to apply visa on their website is quite clear and detailed. If you follow all of them, its a quick check at the counter and we can be on our way. Unlike any other visa formalities, they collect money while returning passport after visa approval. Those the Visa room is super small and 20 people were ahead of me, I didn't have to wait much time. Wish the room was air conditioned. Its counter based services, so best to get all the docs ready beforehand.
I applied for single entry tourism visa.
Super efficient. The officer quickly examined my materials and gave me a receipt for collection 5 working days (standard processing) time.
Total time spent there was 20 minutes, including waiting time. I got only 5-6 people ahead me and each one took only a few minutes.
No bus station in the proximity, recommend driving or taking taxi.
The visa application room is quite small. Get a queue number when you first arrive and wait for your turn.
Good luck with your visa application.
Staff were helpful and polite. The appointment system online was quite misleading though. It doesnt differentiate between walk-ins and applicants with appointments, so I ended up arriving earlier but still joining a queue of 30 plus pax in front of me. 🤷♂️
Typical Japanese.
The application will be done under 5min if you have your documents completed and ready in the order.
Queueing time will be relative; I got number 7. It took 15min until it was my turn, meaning less than 13min to process the 6 people in front of me. (Less than 2 min to get ur id checked and walked from the gate to the visa application room)
I recommend to take cab/uber/grabcar there.
Get there at 8.15 to beat the queue.
Cheers
5 minute easy walk in from the main road. Visa appointment room is rather small. Get your documents in order before coming!
No real complaints. Just maybe adding more seats in the waiting area. Understandably it's due to the covid suituation at the moment.
Was expecting better. The gentleman at the visa section could be more polite, a (paid) printing service would come a long way.
Too crowded, they should have more people on each of the window ( than just 2 people for 5 windows) when collecting the visa
Amazingly efficient, compassionate and accommodative. I wish all embassy staff are like this.
Need to walk a distance as there are no parking lots nearby.
Very punctual and on time. Loved their efficiency and kindness. Appreciate it.
Very cool. Helpful staffs and the place is very quiet !
Inside there was a lot of very nice photos.
Too far to go from MRT station or Bus stop.
Very orderly service and friendly staff.
Good but long Q.
The staffs are very efficient.
Always work efficiently👍🏻
Great service!
Efficient.
Find a place to relax in a quiet hotel. Suitable for resting and continuing your journey.
I have been there many times. The staff are very efficient provided you have all the materials prepared. There are many applicants during local student holidays, and fewer during non-student holidays. There are many people every Monday. The place is not easy to find and has inconvenient transportation. You need to walk from Orchard Road to Nissiam Road, which takes about 5-8 minutes. There is no expedited service or courier service, and it will be processed within five working days. Pick up in the afternoon. I visited here many times, the embrassy officers work efficiently.
The bald staff who received the visa documents had a very poor service attitude and were very unfriendly.
