Have to give it to husband's favourite carrot cake! Definitely one of the best in Singapore, bigger chunks of carrot cake and nice tinge of chilli!
Their white carrot cake is really nice. 20 mins waiting time is worth it. But this temporary FC is a bit stuffy. Not their fault.
My favourite white carrot cake. The inside is soft and fluffy, and the outside edges and slightly crisp. Plenty of egg and radish, and it’s not greasy. Waiting time was about 20min. This was the medium $4 version without chilli. I hope they move to the new interim location!
I like the reliance on electric buzzers. Customers need not wait in a queue and it attracts customers when they see that there isn't a queue.
Carrot cake is good. Slight crisp on the egg and the rice cake is whole and soft. If you ask for the "spicy" variant, the chilli is mixed into the dish itself instead of it being served on the side.
Yummy super delicious carrot cake; uniquely served with generous eggs and only in white version. Queuing system efficient although it may take up to 30min and on weekends, they operate a 2nd shop along the same row to satisfy demand. Available from $2.50, this is highly recommended.
Not a fan of carrot cake. But this is the only stall locally that I will order cai tao kueh from. Have only been coming back to this hawker centre for the past 25 years and i have never been disappointed.
The usual 10-15mins wait for a new 'batch' is always well worth it. Fragrant, beautiful golden colored, piping hot, well seasoned, 'brownie-like' thick slabs of this stuff is pure comfort food. The perfect complement to your Kopi-O.
Newbies, if you want the black sweet sauce version, go look elsewhere. They only ever do the white and have done it very well.
My only wish is for some spring green over the top to elevate the fragrance and presentation of this humble dish.
The carrot cake is cooked till slightly crispy, giving it various textures. The Chye Poh is not too salty and still manages to give some flavour. The chilli definitely helps this dish to be more flavourful. Overall the dish is tasty and yet seems not too unhealthy also as there isn’t excessive oil used.
I love savoury white carrot cake. I rate my carrot cake by the size of the chopped pieces, the doneness of the egg, sufficient egg coverage and if there is radish in it!
This is pan fried sufficiently, and the carrot cake has that bit of a subtle crunch due to the radish mix. Proper ordering queue system as well. My weekly go to breakfast after a long trek at BTH.
Bb is normally a fan of black Chye Tow Kway but the white version offered at He Zhong never fails to impress me every time I pop by Bukit Timah Food Centre! Love that the homemade carrot cake was cut into distinct cubes and pan-fried with the egg batter to a nice golden-brown colour! They are also generous with the savoury cai poh (preserved radish). The inside is so soft and fluffy, but Bb wished the outside was crispier.
PS: Photos were taken before Phase 2 (Heightened Alert).

One of best fried carrot cake. Always has queue but cooking is fast, as they hv 2 stalls. Been visiting this stall for many years.
Yummy white carrot cake. $3,4,5 portions. Short wait depending on time of day.
Light fluffy pan fried, chili is good, mild spicy level to enhance the taste of the carrot cake.. they have SGD$2 version, which is great for sampling!
Crispy skins and flavorful turnip bits.
However seems like standards have dropped abit. The chilli could have a bit more punch and the carrot cake was slightly dry.
It is still good just not the same as the legendary standards in the old days .
This is passed down to second generation which is commendable. However, I find the taste and texture is not as good as before. Used to love the crispiness and texture of the carrot cake. Unfortunately I couldn’t experience this for this time. Will give it another shot next time!
Affortable, tasty carrot cakes. Only serve in White. Can eat!
Love this fried carrot cake stall. Run by young people (maybe took over from parents). Fragrant and yummy. May need to wait up to 20 min during peak hours.
Old school, nostalgic carrot cake store. The brave one that continues to sell only white version. Reasonably crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, with good taste. Can tell made with love. Took me back to my childhood when I bit into it 😄
My go-to carrot cake in the Bukit Timah area. Crispy on the outside and moist mixture of eggs and asian carrot cake in the inside. The whole plate of carrot cake was not overly greasy, or too salty. If I'm not wrong there are 2 stalls frying at the same time, maybe only operating together during peak periods. Went on a weekend and was happy didn't have to wait long for my plate of carrot cake.
Objectively, it’s a nice rendition of fried carrot cake. A bit crispy on the egg covered side. The bits of radish cake on the opposite side had a slight doughy taste though. May have been a bit undercooked or insufficiently covered with seasoning/sauce.
It’s worth noting that they only do the white version and, if you say yes for chilli, they will smear some on half the portion. Just nice if you want chilli for taste. But if you like chilli for the endorphin releasing burn, you might want to ask them for more.
Offpeak hour so around 10min for a plate of $3 small carrot cake.
It is of the bigger size variety. But it is definitely the best bigger chunk variety.
Egg was crispy and coated the carrot cake well. Carrot was smooth and soft yet it holds up.
Reasonably amount of chye pok to give it a savoury taste profile. Chili and serving size on the smaller end but just nice to eat other food. I think chili can be requested for more just that it won't be cook in? Why Sia =(
Crispy on the side and soft inside. Very flavorful.. I paid $5.. 👍🏻👍🏻
Very good plate of carrot cake. Fried till the egg is slightly crispy and coated on thick pieces of carrot cake with homemade chilli was a great combination. Cost is very reasonable as well, even the smallest plate at $2.50 comes with a good portion.
Although waiting can be easily more than 15mins, they provided buzzer which was very handy as you could go buy some other food while waiting for yours to be ready.
I notice another similar stall name just a few stall away not sure why, but this stall is unit #02-185 just to be sure.
One of the famed stalls in this hawker center.
The ordering system is simple, order, take a queue number, when buzzed, collect and pay.
The waiting time was less than 10 mins even though I was told 15.
The carrot cake comes in chunks and the Kueh is moist and soft. The egg wash was generous. Only gripe is the preserved turnip was hardly evident which is the soul of this dish. 4.5*
Freshly made and decent portions - $4 is almost too much for me (1 person) for breakfast. They use quite a lot of chye poh and the chili sauce is pretty yummy too
Light fluffy and airy white carrot cake. Make your order (S/M/L) with or without chili and grab the buzzer. Come back and collect in 15-20 min when it's done and then make payment. Chye poh gives it a sweet and salty taste.
Is a good white salty version carrot cake comes with chunky style. Probably the best white salty version you can find in Singapore. No need to come all the way to try though unless you are going to order other food too. Waiting time normally around 20+ minutes.
Very eggy carrot cake that was almost like an omelette. Taste was pretty good. Beeper was given for food collection so there was no need to stand in line as the wait can be very long.
Carrot cake is chunky and of good texture. Really like that you can taste the cai poh in the carrot cake. Chilli is quite mild in my opinion so go ahead and ask the aunty to put some on the side to better enhance the flavour. Aunty is friendly - you order and come back to collect it later and pay upon collection. Be sure to ask how long the wait is if you are pressed for time. Pictured is the $4 portion, enough for two people to share.
Try this white carrot cake and taste is ok but I find a bit salty, if it is not salty, I would have given a 5 stars , overall still ok
Very unique stall! Understand they make their own radish which is amazing. They served big and chunky style Radish which is different from many of the stall in the market. Lots of eggs and chai poh spread over the dish. The overall taste and texture of the finished food is very good. Only white version been served. And price start from $2.5 which is economical meal. Value for money! Waiting time is long but just inform them the table number and they will served to our table.
Late lunch at 2pm and it’s only a 5 mins wait for the savoury carrot cake. Very tasty and wok-hei crisped with a “wok chan”… it would be 5 stars for me if it comes with a sprinkle of spring onions for colour and flavour
Carrot Cake / Chye Tow Kueh (SGD $3) @ He Zhong Carrot Cake.
.
Specialising in only the white version, their rendition features symmetrical cut squares of deliciousness.
.
The family-run stall by Teo Boon Kuang has been serving since 1973, and daughter Alberta Teo has come on to carry on the legacy.
.
Their carrot cake is soft and moist, marinated in garlic and fish sauce, the egg covering each side and holding it all together, almost like a pancake.
.
Nicely springy with crisp edges, and lovely savoury sweet eggy salty flavour, with a bit of spicy kick.
The carrot cake is made and steamed in stall. Cut to big and small pieces so we can taste the cake from the chunky parts and the smaller pieces sing well with the egg and chai por. The carrot cake is thick, so that there is a distinctive top crispy egg layer and soft egg beneath, adding more dimension to the experience. The chilli is made in stall too. Long opening hours from early morning till 10 at night, opening 2 stalls to cut down waiting time during peak period. Accept orders via phone call. Well worthed a 5 star review.
The lady who serve is very friendly and polite, should say is very professional. The carrot cake is not expensive and is tasty. Luckily the seah duck rejected me rudely so i had a chance to taste this yummy food with excellence service. Thumbs up jia you
It’s not the best carrot cake I have but it’s extremely palatable, especially when it doesn’t feel oily at all! Crispy on the outside and a pretty thick layer. A go-to if you are at this Hawker Center!
Had a satisfying Breakfast with this Crispy, Big and Chunky Carrot Cake, with generous amount if Chai Poh. This is now one of my fav White Carrot Cake.

My goto white carrot cake since childhood, the best there is. The queue and waiting can be crazily long during peak hours, but bearing the pain now and then is worth the while.
Morning 🌅 Delicious at the interim Market
Very tasty
The epitome of the perfect white carrot cake. The texture and seasoning is just right.
The chilli adds the perfect punch.
They’ll also deliver it to your table 👍🏻
Hot and nice. Chye por is yummy
Only have white carrot cake. Taste above average 😋. Must eat with their chili.
Skin is crispy and inside is soft. Chili version is good. In my top 5 but not my number one.
It was OK taste. A bit salty at some parts. The order system is good with buzzer
Only the white version available. Taste acceptable with abundance of egg . Albeit the
well patronised Toa Payoh carrot cake stall ( albeit long queue) tastes a lot better with its crispy version without chilli.
Worth the wait for traditional carrot cake
Flavourful and savoury
they manage the long queue much better now and they hv 2 woks cooking at the same time during peak hours. So shorter waiting time which is great
Right portion of eggs and carrot cake mix for me. It’s tasty and not too oily.
Lovely white carrot cake. Soft, tender inside while crisp on the outside.
Really crunchy base and sweet tasting, has 2 shops same row but different cooker.
Worth for the price, cheap and had generous portion of egg. Carrot cake had a nice crisp to it
Still got its original taste!
Giving it a try after checking the reviews. Not the best I had but definitely returning for it.
Best carrot cake in singapore. Nuff said.
For $3/plate, this stall is here for a long time and for a reason.
Very good taste. Now they have 2 stalls, 1 for take away, the other for dine in
One of the best carrot cake stalls around - 9/10.
their carrot cake is outstanding. ask for more eggs
Fantastic, delicious, and handmade. Not from Central kitchen
Nice carrot cake... Decent quality and quantity
Value for money!!!
Addictive
Nice carrot cake!
We came to the food court by accident, we love carrot cake, so when we noticed this stall, we decided to take it.
We were pleasantly surprised by the taste!
So, confirming the large number of positive reviews here, I will write that this was one of the best carrot cakes we tried!
I recommend!🙌🏻
It was my first time trying white carrot cake at this place, but after trying it at other stores, I was able to confirm that this place was quite delicious.
The owner was also quite friendly. Do you feel like the people at the Bukit Timah food court are a bit friendlier than other hawker centers? lol
The special cabbage cake feels a bit like a vegetable garden inside, and the soft cake has a bit of crunch. Remember to add hot sauce, it’s delicious! The price is also quite affordable~
Delicious, light and not without flavor
His father has been frying it since he started eating it now, and it’s delicious!
Full of caramelized egg liquid 🤤🤤🤤
