Reviews of Lai Hiang Pork Rib Prawn Mee (#01-41)
The recommended prawn noodles in the hawker centre. Try the dry version with mee pok (Flat Yellow Noodles). The portion is huge and well seasoned with sauces. Never forget the dry chilli powder. A add on which brings the whole prawn noodles to a new level.
To be honest, it’s a very mediocre bowl of prawn noodle. The soup was on the blander side but had a very subtle sweetness to it. U can tell from the colour 😭..
Nothing much to say, really very average. Not worth the long queue.
Four stars for their portion size at the respective price points available and also the flavour of this prawn noodles. The lady boss taking orders is also a joy to interact with, with her sincere nature.
Not the best prawn mee in Singapore, but comforting and consistent enough to be the default choice for regulars and visitors to this area.
Ingredients are fresh and popular items are sold out early. Noodles are cooked just right with a good bite.
Beans sprouts have a lovely crunch in each mouthful.
Overall, a delight to enjoy each time and reason to return again and again.
Kitty and I embarked on a lunch adventure at a hawker centre, guided by a promising Google review. As we cycled towards the stall, the vibrant atmosphere of the hawker center caught our attention. Along the way, we encountered a prawn mee stall with a substantial queue, which intrigued us.
Staying true to our original plan, we indulged in the Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun while also seizing the opportunity to sample the prawn mee from the neighboring stall. The standout aspects of our dining experience were the speed at which dishes were served to clear the queue, the affordability of the prawn mee priced at $3 within the range of $2.50 to $5, and the excellent service and flavorful prawn mee.
Despite the limited quantity of prawns provided for the price of $3 which was 2 pieces of prawn slide from a single prawn, the overall dining experience was enhanced by the efficient service and the delicious flavors of the prawn mee. The enduring queue at the prawn mee stall reflected its popularity and reputation for providing an affordable dining option, as echoed by the locals.
The combination of fast service, affordability, excellent service quality, and flavorful dishes make this hawker stall a standout choice deserving of a 4-star rating. The efficient clearing of the queue, affordability within the price range, and the overall dining experience make it a recommended choice for those seeking a satisfying and budget-friendly meal.
My favourite old school taste prawn/pork ribs noodles soup stall.
Noodles and bee hoon texture are great.
Fresh ingredients.
Aromatic and flavourful soup.
Reasonable price.
Friendly stall owner.
Highly recommended.
This stall has been around forever. One of the stalwart of Pek Kio that reliably opens before 7am to serve the breakfast masses
Have always pondered the popularity of the stall and i attribute it to service and value. The servers are quietly polite and efficient. The lady taking the orders often has a smile for everyone, and a kind word frequently inserted especially for the elderly.
The portion of prawn noodle itself is generous both in serving and and ingredients Through the years, the taste has gotten less "prawny" and more "porky". A satisfying bowl of noodle. This stall is not the first to raise prices and is still one of the better value.
$4
Not exactly my first time here
But definitely my first time giving a proper assessment of this place
At $2.50 $3.00 and $5.00; they command one of the cheapest prawn noodle places in Singapore
The $3.00 version has quite a lot of volume and value and the taste is better than decent.
Overall rating 8.3/10
My second time eating this for $3 a bowl
Consistently goo
Rating revised to 8.7/10
No queue today so was lucky
Recommended.
Super long queue on a weekend morning! Queue was pretty slow.
You can choose dry or soup version of noodle and different prices of size.
My meepok dry with chilli was well boiled, quite springy. Topped with 2 pieces of prawns, lean meat slices and few slices of fish cakes. Soup was flavorful and light, you can taste the sweetness from prawns.
Not bad for the price of $3.
Sunday 915am, ~15th in Q. Moved fast though, got our food around 935am. Authentic tasting, broth was flavourful, prawns were fresh. Generous portion, all in with the required side ingredients (lean pork slices, fish cake slices, bean sprouts, fried onion bits, cut red chilli & chilli powder). Portion was good, value for money! 1x Yellow noodle soup, 1x Mee kia dry, add small intestines for both, totalled S$8. Lady was very friendly & efficient. Much better experience vs other stall in same location. Highly recommended!
Very tasty pork rib prawn mee. The photos might not do justice to the taste. The pork ribs are very soft and juicy. It would have been five stars if not for the small amount of 3 pork ribs and 2 prawns for $5, considering this is in a very humble hawker centre and neighbourhood. Nonetheless is worth the queue and time.
Lai Hiang Pork Rib Prawn Noodles has very strong and memorable prawn soup that I would remember vividly.
During peak hours, you have to queue very long but it's worth the wait. By the time I went around 12plus on a weekday afternoon, all the other options like pork ribs are sold out and the only option is prawn noodles.
The prawns are fresh and chewy. Fish cakes are also tasty with nice noodles. Chili are on the spicy side and I like it. The soup is the highlight for me.
There is the option of using the QR code to make payment for their food.

Visited on a weekday morning around 8+am, there was quite a long queue, waited around 15 minutes.
Ordered the $5 pig trotter kway teow soup (comes in $3/5/8 option) & it was a huge serving and very tasty! Will try the mixed ingredient bowl next time.
been a regular of wah kee and everytime I'm here there's always a long queue for Lai Hiang as well. Finally decided to give it a try
The noodles served here are great! especially the mee pok. At this very instance, comparing each component of the meal will have a winner and a loser, but the loser is still considered very good . then again, taste can be very subjective
let's just say that a perfect bowl prawn noodles for me will be
wah kee broth
wah kee prawns
lai hiang noodles
lai hiang chilli
lai hiang pricing
Clear broth, with natural sweetness of the prawns. Cheap and good! The soup doesn't contain msg, and it's so clear and sweet!
For $3, only there's pork lean meat and prawns!
I had their prawn soup it's good!
Without any doubt the best around
need lots of grit for long queue
but the reward sweet savoury delight
warms the heart, & tummy crave
no MSG hyper rich prawn taste
four types of chilli tons of heat
mellows all others taste geek
pleases all the senses gourmet seek
wonderful old school heritage
ultimate price $3 how to beat
Mar 2019. I got lots of time this morning, and i queued. 20min.
I ordered a $2.50 portion. A real bargain with 2 prawns, fish cakes and sliced pork.
These sides were really fresh.
I loved their fried shallots, reminiscence of my mum's.
The serving lady (presumably owner's wife) had a recorder's memory. No matter how complicated the orders were, she could cache multiple orders at 1 go.
I usually gave 3 stars even for well above average reviews, i dedicated 1 more here for the shallots and great memory ;)
The most underrated pork rib prawn noodle! But ask the endless queue of customers and you will know why.
In my opinion the best 5 dry noodle in Singapore. The tastiness is subtle but the more you bite into the bowl of wholesomeness the more addicted you will become.
You won’t find jumbo sea prawn or fall-off-the-bone tendersoft pork rib. The magic is in the noodle. Doesn’t matter what type of noodle you choose. You will go away smiling.
a nice bowl of old school traditional prawn noodles. soup was lighter than expected but still a great prawn stock with pleasant umami goodness. the friendly lady taking orders rounds of a great experience at the stall.
Prawn Mee Pok Dry. This food centre has got 2 prawn mee soup stalls that has long queue. The other one is famous for its lobster bisque like soup which cost a bit more and this one for its homely prawn broth which seems to draw crowds for its wallet friendly prices.
This stall has been in Pek Kio market for more than 20 years.
The biggest draw to this stall, where in Singapore can we now get $2.50 prawn noodles which comes in a decent portion.
Excellent service from lady boss, she has superb memory and literally remembers the customized orders of each of her regular customers. She is also very kindhearted and will also dish out personally to the old folks seated nearby her stall.
Highly recommended but please be prepared to brave the snaking queue.
So good and such good value for money. Will definitely be back. Soup is fully drinkable.
Patronized this stall for years ever since my cousin intro me. Unbeatable prices for a decent bowl of Prawn Noodles. Friendly lady boss. I don't stay near but i purposely travelled 35mins each way during lunch just to enjoy it.
Went on a weekday late morning and there was a queue around 15 mins. Took away 3 portions and the aunty was really patient and friendly. It’s definitely super reasonably priced compared to many other prawn mee shops in Singapore. Taste wise, it definitely had a very homely taste to it which was nice. The portion was also really generous. I’d eat here again but probably only if there wasn’t a queue
Quite delicious, and long queue moves fast. 🦐
The $5 portion contains 2.5 prawns, some fish cake and pork slices. I wish the dry noodle sauce had more flavors, but its probably supposed to come from the onions and chilli. So expect a plainer taste if you don't take spicy.
$5 dry prawn mee with mee kia, a bit of chili - 3.5 stars
Mee kia was too mushy and there wasn't really any sauce. Couldn't taste the chilli. Appreciated that the prawns were peeled. You can ask for pork ribs and they'll just give you fewer prawns. The pork ribs were the best part of the dish - they're tender and fall off the bone easily. Soup is on the sweet side and doesn't have that much umami.
Traditional prawn mee with lots of other ingredients to choose from~ Worth the $ ! Highly recommended 👍
It is definitely value for money and very traditional. There is another famous prawn noodle stall around. If you want solid premium prawn noodle soup go for the other stall. If you just want simple traditional dry prawn noodle, you cannot be wrong with Lai Hiang

For me, the taste is just perfect.
Add on shrimp and pork.
Plus pork leg. Wanna give me a portion of pork leg, but it is too much for me, so just add on to the bowl.
Basic bowl $3, add on extra $3
Best prawn Mee in the area. Chilli powder, intestines stands out from the rest. I mean theirs started since 20 over years ago when most other prawn Mee stalls still have not used chilli powder and added intestines.
Old school soup, I like. Dry version also enjoyable with chilli sauce to toss in. Price reasonable for the portion. Fried shallot too little and no lard. This is the $3 portion.
Worth the value, normally go for $5 mee kia dry with pork ribs with big bowl of soup. That make my day after traveling all the way there.
I ordered the $5 prawn mee soup. It was delicious and tasty. I highly recommend this place. You may have to queue, because this stall is popular.
Still as good with their chilli soucre and beansprouts combination
Default order did not include the pork rib
Last review 2021 Good prawn noodle and generous portion for $3
Very good value prawn noodle . Solid soup and good chilli sauce that blends well !
Cheapest prawn noodle in SG for only $2.50.
Q at for 14mins @ 7:45am.
Cheap and nice prawn noodle for your consideration
15 people in queue, cleared in 15 minutes. $5.
Great prawn noodles at a reasonable price !
The auntie super friendly and nice.
Best
My favorite is the shrimp noodles. The proprietress is very friendly and proud of her business. She doesn’t charge for packing boxes. It’s cheap and delicious. It deserves a five-star recommendation. I didn’t want to recommend it because I was afraid of queuing up to the side of the road, haha
I have been admiring it for a long time... I was disappointed several times due to the long queue. This time I persisted and waited for more than 20 minutes. However, it still failed to break through its traditional 🦐 noodle ranking. The end...passing and enough time to line up.
Best in pek Kio market.
