Reviews of Mr Meepok (ABC)
First try cos like onsen egg. Noodle is springy without alkaline taste. Taste is not strong and to the sweet side, maybe diluted by the egg. Still a good choice for meepok. Will try the maze one next time.
Finally tried this, and the mazesoba is super good. Though not cheap by abc market standards, you get restaurant quality stuff. Chef prepares it so carefully and the finished product looks and taste amazing. One of the pork slices is a bit on the tough side but otherwise quite perfect.
Had the mazesoba, friendly and service oriented young men running the stall, plus plus for this keep it up.
However food really needs some improvement, although i might be bias since this is first try and i took the more special mazesoba instead of ordinary bcm.
- pork charsiew it is i supposed, was just pork belly blanched and torrched. Its hard and rubbery, if the stall owner sees this maybe better to take it off subsitute it, its your idea to do mazesoba so you can call it whatever you want and subsitute whichever is appropriate
- the minced pork is too heavy on flavor. Overly salty cannot understand why people complaining things are bland
The taste is good, can taste shoyu and japanese flavors. Noodle was not the ordinary meepok possibly ramen noodles turn out fine. They have this chinchalok style chili outside the stall, please take it if you are ordering this. It blends well with the mazesoba flavors and neutralises the over saltiness in the minced pork.
Will for sure try the ordinary bcm or signature some other day. Probably better i hope.
Tried the signature meepok. The addition of an onsen egg makes the noodles smooth. Flavor of the mushroom could be better.
Update: Tried the Mase Soba during my next visit. Quite good but I would prefer the charsiew to have more flavour.
One of the best mee pok I ever had.
Our local singapore taste is back.
No regrets. Local youngsters ..give them our support.
If you around bukit merah brickwork market come n try.
I tried the normal minced pork mee pok ($4), and it tasted delicious and the portion was just right.
I will try the other more interesting ones the next time I visit the place again.
Tried this for the first time. The Meepok was way too overcooked and soft, and the pork belly was thin (was led to believe it would be thick but for $2 top up what was I expecting really). The noodles were so disappointing I could not eat it anymore. There is no QC - the noodles became really pale in color, a sign of being over cooked, and he did not notice it.
The stall holder was nice, offered to make me a new bowl but I wasn’t prepared to wait. Probably won’t return as I spent $7.50 and it was disappointing.
Innovative mee pok. The classic mee pok is excellent. A nice well balanced Umami instead of overpowering chilli sauce.
The additional onsen egg is a nice touch. The belly pork is an add on and is separately grilled before being added to the dish. All in all excellent. 5 stars.
Lively and energetic young owners running the stall. Meepok was just firm enough, meats were fresh and not overcooked. I asked for less spicy and no oil, perfect!
Unique Mee Pok BCM. Has Onsen egg and Ngo Hiang included.
Ordered signature meepok, noodles cooked for too long and too soft to my liking. A normal bowl of meepok.
not bad 🙃
