Reviews of Ponggol Nasi Lemak
The queue are ridiculous during peak hour, go late evening better. This is Singapore Chinese Style Nasi Lemak, so Malaysian shouldn't compare it to theirs. The sambal is the dry type which some may not be used to. The Chicken Wings are to die for ! Ok if you don't mind the queue.
Really good Nasi Lemak that always has a queue. The staff may not be the most polite but you cannot deny that the food here is really good.
I would order 2 wings as opposed to 1 drumstick, simply because the price point for 1 drumstick is crazy (3.8) as opposed to 1.50 for 1 wing.
Makes sense to get 2 wings for sure! And the curry veg is great as well!
Perfection in a plate...
Could easily say one of the best nasi lemak in town. Though the sambal is on sweeter side its quite delicious. The long queues in the evening is worth the wait.
Drumstick was nice, rice quite fragrant and not greasy. Main turn off is the price. Chilli was OK. There's nearly always queue but was quite fast. The most expensive Nasi Lemak I've ever eaten. Not value for money.
Seriously the food price of this stall is getting higher! Kind of over-priced! No doubt the drum is nice, but the rest is just normal loh, just like any other veggie rice stall! Not worth the Q!
Long queue at Mee Sek Kopitiam for Ponggol Nasi Lemak. Open from 3pm till late daily except thursdays. For an experienced foodie, it is not the best in Singapore and definately not Malaysia, only average standard. This stall has been here for decades since i was a child. Very pricey for an average standard Nasi Lemak. Visited this place just to bring back teenage memories☺
Homey, well-cooked dishes at a slightly steeper price and a queue. The chicken wings are juicy and crisp, and I personally liked the wide variety of side dishes - how rare is it to have lady's fingers in your nasi lemak!
Always a good place for supper, only closed on Thu so have to find another place for supper on Thu
Was craving for nasi lemak, so I came here. Otherwise, I don’t bother. Long queue and took 30mins before my turn, and that’s before 6pm.
Chaotic during order, expensive.
Otah, chili, egg and ikan billis are good. Warm rice, quite fragrant but nothing that impressive.
Nice neighborhood to walk around, many other good eats around this area.
There’s really only 2 places to eat Nasi Lemak - this is one of them. I’ve got friends who compares it to what they’ve tried in Malaysia but I still think this one tastes way better (no bias).
Make sure you mix it up with plenty of chili and typically I order chicken wing, ikan billis, acar, otah and shredded chilli dried prawn paste.
Be prepared for a minimum of 20-30 minute queue because it’s very popular. Closed on Thursdays.
If you are a traveler, this place will be little bit far from your residence. but it worth to visit where you can feel the real Singapore and have great dinner. My friend, singaporian, said Ponggol is one of famous retaurant for them. And is was! Even at 11pm there are so many peaple. To have meal, just pick any dishes then someone calculate the total price. I reccomand you to pick a fried egg and chicken.
One of the best nasi lemak in Singapore.
Prepare to queue especially peak hours.
Less then 10 minutes Walking distance to Kovan MRT station
Pricey! Pricey! Pricey!
Queued for almost an hour for dinner takeaway on a weekday. Definitely worth the wait. All items are freshly cooked and were still warm even after I reach home. Fragrant nasi and bilis, crispy chicken wing, well cooked egg and delicious sambal. Yummy 😋🤤
This is not as good as one in Malaysia but it is one of the best choice in Sg. There is a long queue if you go around evening on weekday and weekend. If you can, its best to avoid those time.
Is the long queue worth it you ask? YES!
The coconut rice is very fragrance and you can taste the lemak when you eat it. Their chili is super nice too, very flavorful & not too spicy! A mixture of mild sweetness, saltiness & spiciness combine with the rice then top it up with the ikan bilis, it's simply delicious...
Their chicken-wing is a must buy whenever, it's freshly prepared and the batter they used for it simply amazing. It is super crispy and yummy! Another thing I would like to praise is the egg, yes the ordinary looking egg. The egg yolk, it runny!
The only downside is the price,I got mine at about $6.
long queue but worth the wait. walking distance from mrt.
the rice is very fragrance, you can smell strong coconut while queuing.
fried chicken wing is chrispy and crunchy, quite tasty.
eggplant is great too.
this plate cost sgd7.3

Today I went all out. Added rice, egg, ikan bilis, drumstick, wings and luncheon meat. $9.70. The rice was just a little dry but taste was fantastic. Chilli was more moist and had a really complex authentic taste, really good stuff. Chicken was well marinated and fried! Even the luncheon meat was fried to crispy but just before it lost all the softness in there. Would have been 5stars if not for its inconsistency over so many visits!

Add rice one drumstick and a large otah, damage is $6.30. Rice not as fragrant as the last time, coconut taste was weak, chilli was too bland. I shall conclude that this is one of the most inconsistent stall! I guess I will not be eating it for a long long time. 2 stars!
2nd review
The rice was great today! Fragrant and moist, nice coconut aroma. Sambal was spicy and packs a real kick! Drumstick was superb and the batter tasted so yummy. Egg was runny simply best! Ikan bills was a little too sweet. Revised rating 5 stars !!

I was a big fan of this store. The rice oh the rice used to be the Best the best I said. That is all now a past. This plate of added rice, drumstick, hei bee hiam, Ikan bilis and egg cost me $7.80. My mind hanged for a very long time. This is way to expensive. Almost highway robbery! So back to the taste. The chicken is still good but it looks smaller... ok ok, maybe I grew way bigger! The chilli was too dry and the rice was oily with only a very slight tint of coconut. This will be my last visit here! For the same price, I will eat Adam road, for cheaper prices I have many more choices. It’s really time for people to be objective about what they eat. Just in case, you think that I don’t make fair comparisons, I have been searching for the really good nasi lemak for the last few months, this definitely does not meet the cut!
Very expensive 😭 just rice refill cost $1.50. Wing is at $2.00....tabao even more expensive
Had high hopes for this!
Always see long queues but at $6.50 per plate, not worth it for me.
Their chicken is good though.
Good but super overpriced! Place isn’t well-kept and the noodle store had birds all over their cooking station yuck!
Dishes are fresh, tasty chilli and good quality coconut rice! Delicious ngoh hiang. Price towards the higher side.
Nicely done fragrant coconut rice with a couple of dishes on the sides. Simply amazing!
Freshly made chee cheong fan. Although a bit pricey for it. Worth a try. Nasi lemak are the usual.
Very nice lemak. Not easy to get here with car need to illegal park. With MRT need to walk abit.
One of the favourite supper place to bring overseas customers. Great chilli, perfect chicken wings, fried egg and aromatic nasi lemak rice not too dry.
The coconut rice is very good. The queue to buy the food is super long but it's fast moving and it's worth the time queuing
Among all nasi lemak stalls/shops in Singapore, this should be considered one of the top list. Be prepared for a long queue though.
Probably the best Chinese style nasi lemak in Singapore. The deep fried items are especially well executed- crispy yet not too oily. I also always enjoy the eggs here, none of the overcooked hard eggs, the yolk is always nice and runny.
Of course you can expect to pay a premium for this. The plate with 4 ingredients and rice cost about 7 bucks. But the real killer is the long queue and you can expect to wait for quite some time especially during dinner time!
Awesome dining experience with yummy food. Never disappoints.
Slightly pricey but at least the food didn't disappoint
Affordable comfort food. Love the chicken drumstick which was so tender and juicy!
The meal is different and too good! Always a long queue at this outlet. Rice is nice, good chicken wing/drumstick.
If you are hungry, get extra rice additional at a dollar more. Veggie, crispy Peanut & shrimp fry is also good.
Expect a queue (especially on the weekend, can queue until the road sia) but the food is always consistently good. Staff aren't cranky which is a big plus. Price is relatively affordable too unless you get the drumsticks! Good supper place.
Decent Nasi Lemak with a lot of variety but please, queue only if you have the time! I queued for 35 minutes and while the food was decent, I didn't think it was worth the wait. Will be back perhaps off peak timings.
The best chicken wings I've had from a stall! Every side dish I tried was really good. My favourite is the ladies finger. Love the food here! Worth the wait (normally very long queue) .
Food are getting more and more expensive, a normal plate with addon rice and Chicken wings can go as high as $5-7 depending. Queue is also very long during dinner time, extra chili will have to pay. Overall i think is alittle overpriced. Food is good but very small quantity.
very famous nasi lemak store, top few in Singapore. insane queue.
to be honest, i don't really exactly fancy this store as the experience is not always good. auntie sometimes blowing hot and cold. food is nice, rice fragrant, chicken drumstick very hard to get but satisfying
But very costly, so usually I very reluctant to buy it on a regular basis.
I thought nothing could beat crave’s nasi lemak but I was wrong!! This is a literal plate of nostalgia that hits u full force with the first whiff (even before the first bite) ; their rice is steeped in the strongest and thickest aroma of coconut milk that I’ve ever experienced and it just elevates everything else. Absolutely loved the mountain of sambal chili - texture, consistency and taste was exactly as envisioned in my mind’s eye. Chicken wing was vvv popular which is probably why we got a crisp fresh piece that was juicy and just right on the inside. Loved the fried egg with its runny yolk as well.
Just a little pricey and also how come the ikan bilis aren’t a given????
Noted that most of the poor reviews relate to the rude service but my boyfriend ordered for me so I cannot comment.
Nasi Lemak coconut rice that I will travel to eat
Still good. Varieties are all good qualities. Prices may be a little more than average but the long Q is a testimony that customers are prepared to pay for good food that gives them value for their money.
Customize your Nasi Lemak experience. Long lines at dinner time.
Very delicious and always need to queue about 20-30minute
The nasi lemak here is almost like a comfort food. It is nice and savoury but not too oily, the sambal is sweet and just has enough kick to it, but not too hot. There are many varieties of good sides that you can choose from. The bad side is it is relatively pricy for a nasi lemak and the queue can be quite long. The crews are doing a great job serving quickly but most of the times the people queueing order more than 1 portions so the waiting time can be quite long, sometimes up to 30 minutes.
One of few best nasi lemak around, dishes are served warm, the chicken wings and drumsticks ($3) is a must have (yummy)... the price can be quite costly depending what you have ordered.
One of the best nasi lemaks in SG. Really light fragrant rice, chilli had a rich smoky flavour and chicken was well marinated, crisp and juicy. Only complaint is that some of the side dishes are little too salty. Short queue when I went. Awesome.
Best nasi lemak I have tried so far, all the items were freshly cooked and prepared by the staff there. Reasonably priced, worth every single cent.
Chicken wing is nice coconut rice is fragrant.
Unfortunately prices had been increasing at a rate inflation cant catch up.
1 plate of rice with a chicken wing, curry vegetables + egg cost more than $5
Great food. But long queue and prices are steep. It is also very warm as the coffeeshop is rather small (little fans). Situated beside a busy road means dust is just somewhat blowing to you.
Probably the best Nasi Lemak in Singapore. Fragrant rice, nicely fried chicken wings and awesome sambal. Highly recommend trying it out if you're visiting Singapore. Definitely worth the travel.
There's almost always a queue here even late into the night which is a testament to its popularity. It's Chinese style nasi lemak which is different from the traditional Malay one which means that beyond your standard ikan bilis, chicken wing, eggs you can go for options like sambal long beans. I think it's decent enough but not worth the queue.
Fragrant rice and fresh ingredients. Important characteristic of a good nasi lemak. The chilli is also power packed and fragrant, chicken wing is a must-order when eating here. Would have given 4 stars if not for the pricing/ food portion. The ingredient portions were measly, 4 pieces of brinjal constitutes one portion, a spoonful of anchovies constitutes a portion. Make sure you know what you want before you order or else the auntie will chide you. Nonetheless I still go back to be a sucker occasionally to get my nasi lemak fix.
Overrated I'd say. $6.20 for nasi with egg, otah, ikan bilis and veg. It's not bad in any way or form, just that I feel that this mediocre food that doesn't warrant this price.
Expect a queue, but only because it's great value for money! The quality is always consistent - even during the supper rush. My favorite item is the chicken wings!
My favourite nasi lemak place. There's many choices for side dishes and the rice is fragrant. Recommended dishes include but not limited, chicken wing/drum, ikan bills, otah, brinjo...etc
crowded canno get table. i like the nasi lemak, but it is not really a mind blowing nasi lemak with the price they charged.
This stall selling Nasi Lemak( Malay Rice )are always long Q..but worth it..
Fried prawn noodle also good but be careful of their chilli is super hot..
AMK noodle stall serving delicious dry n Shoup noodle..
Worth to come every weekend for dinner..
Best nasi lemak ive had in my life. The "achar" (vegan) is really good too. Pricey for your average Singaporean but not too bad as an aussie on holiday.
Superb food. Try the fish fillet and ikan bilis, and also help yourself to generous helpings of chilli. Be prepared to queue approx 20 minutes for a 7pm+ visit.
Super nice and flavourful, rice nice otah nice curry vege also nice. Will be back to try other liao
Its expensive. My personal opinion. Then again, many locals thinks expensive food tastes good, and so, snake q are a regular sight.
Food is nice. Price is reasonable, but not sure if it's worth the super long wait.
Warung Nasi Lemaak on Jalan Serangoon, near Kovan station. I don't come here every day, but when I come here the queues are quite long. The food menu display case is not that big, but if one of the menus runs out, you can immediately refill it.
And the waiters always try to serve faster, how many packs and dine in or take away. Those who serve the menu are elderly women.
In terms of taste, in my opinion, the Nasi Lemak is good, the Drum Stick Chicken is big, and there are other side dishes on the menu such as fried eggs and fish.
For 2 portions of Nasi Lemak+anchovies+one vegetable menu + drum sticks total $15...😁...the atmosphere is pretty good at night because it is open from 4:30 pm to 12:00 pm.
Very delicious nasi lemak in Singapore. However, the food is a bit expensive and the queues are always long. It’s okay to eat it once for a long time. Specially recommend the fried chicken
Good foods at Ponggol nasi lemak gd veg, chicken wing or drumstick n Otah.
Best nasi lemak, good service better than Chong pang nasi lemak
