Reviews of Beast & Butterflies
Came here for food and drinks on a special date night and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Had gnocchi and steak, they were really good and flavourful! Staff was friendly and helpful. By the river as well, real pretty outside.
I don't like putting bad evaluations, but this restaurant is not a place that I will visit again
The food wasn't very nice ... meat is not good, and for desert, it's the same. Service very long.
I hope they will be better in the future.
Full house on Wednesday night. This caught my eye when we passed by. Told my wife lets check this out. We had something light, 1 beef pasta to share and 1 Molten Lava to share. Incredible, beef was so tender, pasta done to perfection. Service was friendly, they tried very hard to attend to every need 🤭 but lets be honest, this is the longest restaurant i ever seen 🤭🤭.
Update: so came back about a year on … menu has totally changed, bottomless booze has increased in price. I think I like the food better, but the the bottomless booze … apparently it’s not for the brunch clock but rather for 2 hours (not written or communicated anywhere, you just need to know). The Spanish omelette was lovely. I still liked the brunch but it’s a bit pricier and a bit clumsier.
A great place for a weekend brunch. Right by the river and really nicely done interior. The bottomless mimosas are the best!!! And the food was great, I loved the lobster roll, the chocolate cake was scrummy! Yum!!!
Although 3 starred, I would go again knowing what the service level is like and having a better expectation of the experience.
I met a friend who now lives in Singapore here while on vacation.
We split a salad (not the Ceasar I forgot the name though), their Beast Burger & the Salmon.
They do not offer tap water so we got a $4 bottle of still. Which is not a problem as my restaurant sells Aqua Pana / Pelligrino for $7 USD in San Jose California but what was disappointing was the service experience.
Once sat
You order your own food from a QR code.
Your water isn’t setup until request (I arrived early at 6:20 and my friend at 6:40 - we did not get any water til around 6:50)
You can’t have tap water at all it must be bottled.
I believe in tipping but I also believe in service - and of course the variety of levels of service.
It was a bit frustrating there was an automatic service fee. It felt as if I was at a McDonald’s and there was also an automatic service because we essentially served ourselves.
Food wise:
Salmon was great. I enjoyed the peppers and mushrooms.
The burger was ok. Enjoyable but nothing special for it being their one burger. Their fries were undercooked (like In & Out fries yea I said it lol)
They replaced it with a fresh basket hopefully spit / retaliation free but I’m Filipino so I ate it.
It was a nice place - but don’t expect good service, or service at all really.
My travel partners wanted to join and attempted to make a reservation same day for 6:30 as well but they claimed they were fully booked.
It was <30% capacity though and even at that attention to service was a bit lack luster - but I presume they may have been understaffed as we in F&B usually are.
A nice place to be if you’re okay guiding yourself through the experience and having minimal server interaction and recommendation and are with a great group of people.
Brought my hubby out for his birthday late lunch. The food was only ok tasting but very pricey for such a ok tasting food. A bit disappointed with their plating. The salad beside the main dish (Rocket leaves) were so plain. Not a mixed salad.... So boring with presentation.
was genuinely quite surprised with the quality of the food. the best dishes of the night would definitely be the calamari with its salty (might be too much if you’re not a fan of salt) and unique batter. my favourite would be the beef ragu pasta even though it was quite a small portion for the price. the pork collar had fat that melted in your mouth and the garlic bulgogi sauce went well. however, the prawn linguine with lobster bisque sauce was way too salty and the salmon fillet was average.
Nice cosy ambience. Great for a gathering with friends or a simple family dinner. Food was delicious and came fast. Excellent service from the staff. Special shout out to server Armando who knew his wines well and recommended a solid Sancerre to us.
Bring my bestie to celebrate his birthday here. 🎉☺️
I do find tis place kinda under rated for 4.1 stars. I feel this place deserve at least 4.5stars. All the food we have ordered included the classic onions soup was nice! 😳The Australia angus beef tenderloin super yumz! Their crispy pork knuckle is delicious too! But for 2 person best to order half portion than full otherwise might be kinda over. 😅 Sandwich and classic onions soup were nice too! As well their molten chocolate cake..👍 I personally find it pretty nice to go with uji senchan tea as it give tat "小甜香" lingering in the mouth.
Frankly speaking I am pretty impressed. 😁 Staffs are friendly, though the serving time is a bit long perhaps we both were hungry. 😂
Most importantly my bestie like it too. 👍☺️
Food at this place definitely worth every penny.
I only heard of this place from a TikTok about their all-you-can-scoop $6++ Tiramisu on Fridays, but can I say it was a wait well-deserved. Having never been to Robertson Quay before, I was pleasantly surprised by the serenity that the place evokes. The staff who attended to us were very friendly and engaging.
The food was great: I had the Prawn Tagliatelle Pasta, and it was probably one of the best I've had in my lifetime. The fried garlic truly made the dish what is was, to the point where I couldn't stop wolfing it down. Definitely worth its price tag of $26. We shared a mushroom fricassee, and despite never having had this dish before, I was delighted at the richness and earthiness of it. I also ordered a Melon Bramble, which I thought could've come with a stirrer as I didn't realise there was unmixed syrup until I was about to finish it.
Finally, the star of the show: the tiramisu. For $6, the amount you can pile on your plate is truly astounding and worth every cent. I probably with have preferred it slightly more solid, but the taste all but makes up for it.
I would've given five stars if it wasn't for the long wait between runs, where it took half an hour for the staff to 'refill' another container worth of the dessert and push it around, extending our dining time unnecessarily.
I do find myself coming back, althought maybe after a few months as that serving of tiramisu is still sitting on my waistline! 😅
Came here for lunch with a group of ladies, food is lovely but the service needs improving. Firstly they don't offer any free water, only $8 bottles of water! The waitresses we needed to call over every time we needed them, were very slow to remove our food, not very friendly when we were paying, given service is automatically added.
Great atmosphere and the service was top notch and friendly. Prices were reasonable and the quality of food was great. The Laksa was very flavorful and loved the smaller bite size style noodles!
ALMOST PERFECT - understaff lah!
When we stepped into the restaurant, the whole decor and environment were groovy. I was very impressed by the theme and concept. Then we were greeted by the staff, and honestly by far is the warmest greetings I ever had and i was deeply impressed by the captain Lily, not only is she very professional, she is very friendly and accommodating. It seems that every ounce of her, wants to serve and make us feel welcome.
Then it was the food, we order a few dishes for sharing, and I cannot believe how delicious it was. We ordered a few common local dishes: Laksa, Hokkien Noodles, Claypot Rice and Crispy Pork Knuckle, the were really amazing!
The Hokkien Noodles comes in a claypot and when it is served, the gravy is still bubbling hot. When the bubbling dies down, what is left, is a whole lot of goodness within one bowl. I don't really fancy the fried pork, I would prefer the original boiled pork, the lard really makes a whole world of difference.
Then the Laksa was fabulicious. (created word fabulous+delicious) Instead of the regular thick vermicelli (c粗米粉), it was served with a shorter version of the thick vermicelli, commonly known as "flour mice" (老鼠粉). It is shorter and gave every bite a chewy sensation. Then the broth... oh mine goodness, it was thick and flavourful. The combination really makes our dining experience so pleasurable. As I write, I'm still thinking about that moment if joy...
Then there was the crispy pork knuckle... every bite was crunch! Mama Mia.
But... sadly, they are really under staff and I hope the management can do something about that... This would be a perfect place for dining.
Came here after reading positive reviews of the crispy pork knuckle here.
Food and service is equally good!
I highly recommend their crispy pork knuckles as the skin is so crispy and the meat is tender! The chilli provided with the dish does goes along well with the pork knuckle
UOB card members have 15% discount
Food is not fantastic for the price. Didn’t really appreciate that they charge $2 for water. For a restaurant where I already have a hard time finding something nice to write about… (to be fair, the staff do try very hard to deliver good service)… this negative point really kills it. Won’t be back.
There weren’t many people around since we went on a week day. Food and drinks were served fast. Highly recommend the drink options. Drink menu looks very unique, not something you often come by at other restaurants. We ordered some light food and they were great too. Saw other tables got other dishes that looked huge and delicious. Would come again next time to try more things.
Crispy pork knuckle was good but not as mind-blowing as I'd been led to believe. Apple pie was excellent, the Manhattan solid, and the service was very kind.. All around great casual place.
Surprisingly good and economical for an all-day hotel restaurant. Hotel guests get 20% off food too making it excellent value, plus it's a great spot by the Singapore River for people watching.
Go on slow days to avoid waiting. The food is high quality and the servers are great. Special thanks to Shiloh, Armando and Jeremy!
Thanks for giving us multiple pleasant experiences.
Overall, a good experience. Modern location with clean, bright decor. The menu is OK with a fair selection and the service pleasant and attentive. The ham and cheese platter was huge and very tasty. Not cheap for drinks/cocktails but equivalent to most places close by. Would we go back- yes.
Food was good, but didn't have a lot of the selections as shown in the website. Eg. only two types of burger were available from the seven shown in the website.
Not kid friendly as they do not provide the kids friendly plates and cups only gave the plastic cup when requested.
Service was bad with staff making a face when asked if they had kid friendly plates and cups. Brought the wrong order and just took it back again showing face and no apology. Overall it seemed like they were there to only serve the expats not the locals from my observations on how they interacted with the other tables.
Great place for couples and to have a drink or two. But not for families with kids.
My two cents is for them to change some of their menu and make it family friendly as they have a condo just beside and couple of hotels where families will come and stay.
Kinda love this place, came here for coffee only on a hot Saturday night, alone.. Love d vocal of d live band singer. Nice cozy decor environment.
Didn't order any food, so can't comment much. Price wise on d higher side, but around there for lounge price lo.
Got myself a cold ying yang. Suit my taste that it's not sweeten.. Tho ppl around r talking, but not too noisy, n d live band is loud enough to cover their noise..
Second time here to try their matcha latte cold brew. They never failed to surprise me. Really love this place!
Excellent pork knuckles, crunch on outside and tender inside. Laska is good too if you like the gravy ultra rich and savory. Place has very nice ambience, good for date night. They also have one for one drinks specials.
Ribeye steak was fantastic. Many different cocktails. Ambience was excellent.
Great food. Price is mind range. Lots of selection from asian to Western. Lots of space. Can work on the service a bit more but other than that, it is recommended.
Both a good breakfast review from 2022 and disappointed dinner review from September 2023.
Been here for breakfast part of M Social in 2022 and was great and tasty.
Recently encountered the dinner menu is so so. My girlfriend had a good beef pasta, however my nasi goreng tasted plain and had 2 marginal looking shrimp hidden inside some dry boring tasting rice. Luckily the 2 (small) sate and fried chicken tasted good. My drink was a special M Social made tonic but was the most boring tasteless drink without fizzle. Thats a easy SGD9++ made for them. Also the ice cubes had melted in the blink of a 15 minute dinner, i was astonished. Also my girlfriends ice tea was watery (from the start she said). I am always surprised about the speed of serving the meals, as in many eating places in Singapore. Do they have the meals already pre-packed and ready to cook or warm up in the pan from the afternoon on? Or even take it from the fridge from the day before? Is it fresh? You only see this speedy stuff in Singapore and makes you wonder. Luckily the free take away wine >50 dollars spend and 20% Studio M hotel discount applied made it a decent dinner
Came here a few times and I've always ordered my favourite item on the menu.. the mee tai mak laksa! It's really, really yummy and the consistency of the laksa paste is always there. Very kid friendly as well.. my kids enjoy coming here. The layout of the place is large and seats are very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to try Western and Singaporean Asian delicacies.
Pork knuckle is simply superb. Mashed potato great, Sangria drink. Lovely ambience watching local peeps.
Impressed with the ambience and service. Nice and breezy on a weekday afternoon in the outdoor area. Many others were enjoying their lunch here.
Not impressed by the Asian selections. I had kurobata pork belly with claypot rice. Soft boiled egg topped the rice too. Crispy cracker and pickled vegetables at the side. Presentation was good but the rice did not have 锅气 and the belly was overly sweet.
My friend had the nasi goreng. Quite normal as well. Suggest going for other items rather than the Asian food.
Food was good but nothing extraordinary. However, the ambiance of the restaurant is great. Good spot for hanging out with friends. The service was also good, I was served by Jeremy and he was very nice and professional!
Great ambiance with good foods. Love the port knuckle! Attentive service from Shiloh, Armando, Naren, Haziq, Jeremy, William and Ivan. Keep up the good work ⭐️
Review number 1000?
All good tbh - food delicious and amazing staff.
A bit noisy but nothing much.
Nice place for a great meal.. nice new restaurant with very comfortable seating arrangement. Food is nice and service is fantastic.
Highly recommended.
I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks and did enjoy the food and service from the restaurant and the crew during breakfast and dine in for room service !
IMO Beast & Butterflies has the best ambience on Robertson Quay and is even better for families as there is parking in the hotel basement. Great value compared to the other restaurants in the vicinity ($120 for 4 pax). Western brunch options were alright, local options were fantastic.
Minus 1 star as they mentioned that they are no longer a pet friendly establishment :(
We had a really enjoyable team event this week at Beast and Butterflies! Food and service was super! A shout out to Melvin and his crew for taking great care of us! They are responsive and accommodating to all our requests! And took initiative to help us manage every aspects for our event! Kudos to the team!
Had a delightful lunch at Beast and butterflies. Food was made with dedication. Salt baked fish was fresh and delicious, pork knuckle was tender and skin was super crispy and the laksa broth was thick and satisfying. Great customers service too! Very well done and I will definitely return for the food again.
Amusing breakfast experience! Buffet breakfast was mediocre and tad bit dry. The kaya toast was good though with the 'traditional' touch. I like it!
The food came really quickly. The service was good. The taste was good too. The price for some of the local food was slightly expensive compared to what you would get in a local shop, but it was reasonably tasty. The salted egg chicken was very good, so was the basil chicken pasta. The fried chicken in the nasi goreng was good too. So was the satay.
i was attended to by William. He was helpful and knowledgeable. Careful and smooth when bringing out the dishes. Good customer service! Good job!
Shiloh was good when discussing thrrmi.
B & B. When you enter and sit back here you'd feel chill and relaxed. With a good crowd and residents nearby. Al fresco with your tapped beer. Friendly staffs here! Bring along friends, it's a swell❗️🍺u
Love the food! The pork knuckle is a must-have and the Yam Orh Nee Brulee was rich and nice as well - Not too sweet and rounded up the dinner really well. Second time ordering. Thanks Armando for your stellar, friendly service!! Best to make a reservation before you come, esp for dinner!
Gorgeous. Staff = Excellent Service! Food great. Breakfast = Super Excellent!
Very nice ambience to chill with friends. Food is delicious n uniquely fusion!
Lovely ambience for a friend's birthday. Food was okay. This was located within M social hotel
Was attended by Naren for their pork ribs takeaway order. Been there a couple of times for dining. Fantastic menu with good service. Do make a reservation to enjoy the air-conditioned indoor atmosphere.
Had a quick chat with Naren too for food briefing. and his wonderful customers' service and attitude
There are still lots of room to improve in their service. After sitting for quite awhile since I entered the restaurant, no servers ever asked me whether I am ready to order. After my food arrived, I asked a server to bring me some mayonnaise. I waited forever for it to arrive. Hence, I decided to ask another server for the same thing. The second server also took forever. I got fed up with it. Finally, after I asked for it, the THRID server showed up with the mayonnaise. I was like FINALLY. Also, I bought a cake from outside to celebrate my son's birthday. I asked them to keep the cake in the fridge at the start of my meal. When I got my cake back to celebrate my son's birthday, the cake was slightly ruined. The sides of the cake was ruined abit. So, me and my son ate part of the cake and we decided to takeaway the rest of it. Another thing that disappoint me again is this. The server told me that they threw the box to place the cake. I was like what kind of stupid thing is this. Thus, the restaurant use the usual takeaway box to put my sliced cake in it. The slice doesn't even fit into the box. I am really upset about this experience. However, about the atmosphere and food, both are still up to standard. I also love the robot roaming around the restaurant.
Really nice night for an outdoor dinner. Had the Moo Yang. Absolutely delicious with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand.
Went there for family dinner. Food was so-so. Place was quite empty, so expected better service but the staff seemed shorthanded and kept congregating around the front desk rather than tending to the diners.
Serving sizes were not unreasonable, but somehow, we left the place feeling unsatiated and had to bring the family to a nearby Macdonald's for ice-cream.
There something for everyone at 'Beast & Butterflies. Some snacks, light meals to Dinner? Or even just a bow of salad. Ask for it and you got it!
Stopped in for a beer with a friend on the patio and ended up staying for a burger. Surprisingly good food and a nice amount of careful service. Great location.
Cozy and quiet environment. Good variety of selection from the menu. Reasonable pricing and good quality food. Delicious desserts is a plus point. Friendly and helpful staff. A good dining place for families and friends.
every single dish was on point! we ordered calamari, spam fried, pork knuckles, beast cheese burger and tomato & burrata …. and we polished everything! rose was helping us and her smiles made the food tastier 😁
Pretty decent food and a nice place to relax and have a drink.
Great ambiance and amazing service by Armando! He was really friendly and professional. Foods are reasonably priced and taste really good especially rib eye steak with bacon mash potato!
Definitely visiting again soon!
Last Sunday we had our family lunch at Beasts & Butterflies which is located within the M Social Hotel in Robertson Quay . This is an exciting restaurant with funky concept of decor and stylish furniture and patterned floor tiles. We love the vibrant atmosphere and the friendly service. We ordered a mix of Asian and western food and they were delectable. We enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch at a reasonable price.
The sweet potato fries is amazing! Food served was delicious. Had fun dining in the other day. Will return again next time
This is a special case, but I was assigned M Social Hotel by the airline due to a flight delay and received a free ticket to this restaurant, so I am writing this review.
In my case, as of June 20, 2024, I was told that I could use up to 37 Singapore dollars (4,207 yen), and when I checked, I was able to use it on any item up to 37 SGD.
I ordered nasi goreng & fried chicken & french fries, beef macaroni cheese, and cola, which cost about 34 SGD (3866 yen). As expected, I couldn't finish it lol
The atmosphere of the store was lively and the staff were smiling and helpful.
Was in Singapore for a month and came here several times a week to eat, drink and work. Everything was always great & thanks to my favorite waiter (Jemy or Jimy?) he was very attentive and always gave me good advice on the food and drink selection ;)
Can highly recommend the restaurant.
The food is okay, the waiters are friendly, especially Jeremy, he is a kind and agile person, I haven't been bored eating here for almost a month...
Thank you Jeremy all the best
Yummmm!
The service is very friendly! Afternoon tea desserts are pretty good
