Reviews of Bites & Brews
Great dining experience! We had a lovely family dinner at Bites & Brews. Ordered the Sangria and Gin and Tonic for drinks. The Philly sandwich, mushroom sourdough, ribeye steak. Enjoyed the meal and drinks. Will come again.
Definitely a good place to hang out with people you love. Its even pet friendly. They have some unique fusion cuisine like mapo tofu lasagna and it was good-can taste the ma without too much la
The ambiance was inviting from videos itself. Service was wonderful and the service staff was delighted and attentive to our requests. Would recommend the Raspberry Lemonade, refreshing beverage even for dinner
Interesting menu unlike most brunch cafe. Keep up the good work! Also special compliment to the Chinese service lady from Shanghai. She really serves with a heart and always smiling.
Like the sandwich a lot! Ordered the beef sandwich, tasty and also in a quite big portion which is really worth the price. The berry coffee is recommended to try
🎉 bday meal! 🍰
my friend and I really enjoyed bites and brew’s super cozy atmosphere. everything was so thoughtful and pretty- the decor, the dinnerware, the food! we ordered the pork jowl and the flatbread with hummus. our fav was the pork jowl which was so soft and fatty and flavourful but also just tangy and yummy. the hummus was average for me, wouldn’t order again but it’s very pretty. their espresso tonic was actually super great haha. oh, but their ice cream was too ice-y for us (blue pea tasted kinda weird, artificial, the pistachio was ok). wanted to order the snapper!! next time!!
Had truffle fries, mapo tofu lasagna, fried tofu in vinegar sauce, ribeye steak. The drink was raspberry lemonade.
Honestly the food was almost great. Mapo tofu lasagna was a new taste i never had before, and it would have been perfect except the center was cold. The truffle fries are as normal as other restaurants and the fried tofu in balsamic vinegar could be made at home. Ribeye steak was the priciest at around $45 iirc but as seen in the picture, it was a few pieces only. Asked for medium rare but some could argue we were given rare.
Ambiance wise, it was beside a quiet road and i recommend coming in the evening. It gave a bit of a Parisian vibe because they had a quaint little candle on the table and the decor felt like that.
Downside:
I was sat in a corner outside of the restaurant and service was extremely bad. Water was not served until i was finished with the meal and by then what was the point?
The people around me had a basket or chair to place their bags and stuff while i had to place mine on the floor. I asked 2 different waiter/waitress twice to provide a chair or basket, but none was given until halfway into the meal.
My candle kept being blown away by the wind but that was fine. Small issue.
I understand if the restaurant was somewhat busy, but I found it discriminatory that I had to ask twice, and the waiters and waitresses kept walking past my table without addressing my lack of water or providing a basket for my bags!
Conclusion:
Otherwise, it would have been a very good 1st year anniversary dinner.
food and atmosphere was good! the cafe offers many interesting options like the Mapo Tofu Lasagna, which i found very unique. the vibes and service are chill here too. shoutout to Mike he was a g
The food and atmosphere were 10/10. Situated where the Tanjong Rhu wanton noodles used to be, they have completely changed the scene. It is now a cute brunch place with nice interiors and artsy utensils. We ordered the passionfruit lemonade and Clover Club, both of which were superb. For mains, we got the half soy-ginger spring chicken with barley risotto and the beetroot gigli. Both were out-of-this-world yummy. I mainly had the gigli so I can describe it - the kale pesto was subtle, cheese was not too overwhelming and the mushrooms and gigli complemented each other perfectly in texture. It was too good! I would definitely go again to try their other dishes. Prices were on par with similar brunch places. The food took a while to be prepared, but it was alright due to the pleasant ambiance and the company I had.
Nice place but nothing much to shout about.
The food is ok - they tried to incorporate some twist into the usual fares but it may not be to everyone’s liking.
The decor setting & vibes are pretty cool but the open concept means it can get a bit hot & uncomfortable.
Service is good - friendly & attentive
Is it Chinese? Western? Spanish? Looking at the interior, I have no clue. But it’s a nice interior. Kinda like those you could film a sitcom in.
Started off with goat cheese as appetiser, had a main each - a wagyu steak and a sausage mixed grill. The goat cheese was a bit much for two pax; if you’re in a group of three, I think you’ll enjoy it even better. Not saying you shouldn’t order, but beware - it’s quite filling and could be a little much towards the end.
The sausage mix grill is something that grows on you; your initial taste might be a hit or miss, but unknowingly you will polish the plate. On the other hand, the steak is…great. Don’t let the price deter you from ordering it! The meat was tasty and full of flavour, albeit I would’ve preferred if it was slightly more seasoned with salt.
Rankings for these dishes would be steak, goat cheese and lastly the grill.
We also had a mojito and a sangria. I have quite a high standard for sangria, perhaps because I had it every meal while in Spain. Theirs was a little muted on the flavour, but still a good rendition nonetheless. Mojito was GOOD. If I came back again I’ll get the mojito definitely.
As for ice cream - pistachio was nicer than the jasmine-somethingmygodlongnames. Flavour was much more pronounced, not something you’ll find in typical ice cream shops.
Overall great place to check out!
A delightful experience, easy to recommend. The food was well on-point, made better by their courteous service, nice music, and great decor & vibe.
Could improve: nice drinks options however the gins/cocktails felt a bit too diluted
Must try: Lamb shawarma pizza
The interior is very interesting, with lots of vintage floral motifs. My spinach tagliatelle was perfect. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and cheerful, much like the floral uniforms they were wearing. I would definitely come back again to try other things on the menu.
Great time here! Stuff was very friendly. The sandwich crispy and with great cheesy fillings. The berries waffle was crispy and refreshing, topped with berries jam and ice cream(was too sweet for me) giving it a bright soury taste. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, portions are big! Recommend to share dish with friend.
Bites & Brews is a cozy little spot tucked away in the heart of joo chiat. The ambiance was warm and inviting that made it an ideal place for relaxing. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience.
Now, onto the food. I had the Philly Cheesesteak . The beef was tender and juicy, seasoned to perfection, and paired with crisp toast and mozzarella cheese and mayo. The sandwich came with a side of potato fries, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as they should be.
I order the berry coffee and passion fruit lemonade but can give the drinks a miss. It taste aweful. Not my cup of tea.
For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying the berries cream waffle. Served with a scoop of berry ice cream and a sprinkle of fresh cream nd berries, it was the perfect ending to a delightful meal.
Overall, the food at bites and brews was impressive, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. Whether you’re looking for a hearty light lunch, or a sweet treat, this cafe has something to satisfy your cravings. I highly recommend giving it a try. But it is on the pricey side.
If you are looking to heighten your taste buds with fusion food, gotta try the dishes here ! Highly recommend breakfast times like the Jian Bing Burrito and Sharwama Lamb Pizza !! The Philly Cheesesteak is very good too !
The sausage tasted plain, could use some more salt & pepper, and the skin like chewing rubber. Chickpeas were undercooked, supposed to be a very smooth and puree kind taste, but it was too hard, mushroom also a bit undercooked. Salad sauce was too sour. Only the truffle fries and toasted bread was eatable. The air-con was too strong for a cloudy day, the food was already half cold when served to us. One of the worst brunch I had.
Decided to check the place out on a Friday noon and time seems to slow down here. Ware welcomed into a charming laid-back cottage feel with a touch of Peranakan designs, motifs, and rustic-vintage furniture.
The Jian Bing Breakfast Burrito is a Mexican twist on a popular Chinese breakfast item. The burrito is made with a crispy jian bing stuffed with BBQ beef brisket, spring onion omelette, bean sprouts, coriander and green chilli, and finished off with a drizzle of hoisin sauce and spicy mayo sauce. It was an explosion of flavours and textures.
The Philly Cheesesteak was a meaty, cheesy delight packed with tender beef slices, caramelised onions, mayo, and a duo of cheddar and mozzarella cheese nestled between grilled sourdough bread. The fillings were of a good portion and the bread was soft with a nice grilled crisp.
The Coffee Dalgona with Banana was a simple cold indulgent treat. It was smooth, creamy and rich. The sweetness of the banana puree paired nicely with the coffee that I felt was subtle and could be stronger.
You'll love this cafe! Bites & Brews artfully combines Eastern and Western flavors in a quaint, Peranakan-inspired deco. Renowned for its innovative menu, the restaurant offers unique creations like mapo tofu lasagna and "jianbing" burritos, accompanied by distinctive drinks. It's a perfect blend of creativity and tradition.
More street-level parking available at nearby Haig Road Blk 1 & 3.
Very attentive staff who will accommodate you. The food is pretty decent. Had the philly cheese steak sandwich.
Didn't taste like a philly cheese but the flavour profile wasn't bad. The sourdough bread was nice and crispy as were the fries.
I'm more used to the original provolone/whizz cheese with a copious amount of grilled onions but their version was decent for Singapore standards.
My partner had the Jian bing burrito.
She said it was not bad, just on the oily side.
Think beef wrapped in a rice pancake burrito styled using peking duck sauce.
One of Shanghai's favourite F&B chains is expanding its first international venture in Singapore.
What we’ve tried:
PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
JIAN BING BREAKFAST BURRITO
SPICY "PINO COLADA" RED SNAPPER

Unique and creative dishes, love the ambience there.
I like the Jian Bing Breakfast Burrito and Lamb Shawarma Pizza the most.
Went for brunch and the food was amazing! Good and chill vibes, staff is very friendly and welcoming. A wonderful cafe/bar to go if u look for a place to chill at joo chiat area!
March 2024
Stumbled upon this establishment by chance. The renovation/decoration were beautifully done. Both inside & outside and it would be tops if it were situated along some paradise beach instead of some sleepy residential neighborhood.
Food wise, lamb benedict was quite ok. The burrito was drowning in sauce and an explosion of tastes in a bad way. The lasagna really tasted weird, you could tell it had quite a few different tastes combined, but the end result was too adventurous for me. One thing they got spot on was Service which was impeccable.
To drink & relax-resounding yes. To dine-NO
very nice ambience and staff were very friendly ☺️. Food was scrumptious and serving was big!! Specially liked the dalgona coffee with banana and grilled mixed sausage w gnocchi. Store manager Mike served us very well!! would totally visit again!
Nice interior, and a nice touch on the reservation slip. The half soy-ginger chicken tastes great. Surprisingly the barley is soft enough and the mixture is spot-on. The lemongrass steak salad is a bit of a let-down though - the taste of sesame oil is too much, and without much lemongrass flavour.
Overall, off to a great start.
But overall great experience.
The atmosphere is great, very photogenic . Music giving lots of energy to the cafe.
Food is so delicious. I ordered the drilled pull pork sandwich.
Excellent service from the staff, Mike and the lady who greet me when coming in the cafe. I could tell they put lots of effort into the design and details to the cafe.
I came here with a lot of anticipation but felt disappointed. Given that the place was just opened (could be official opening) on 18 April 2024 which I read from other reviewers, I thought at least someone would be keen to ask about the experience and food. I ordered a Pide and we waited for seemingly an hour. In my mind I guessed they could have forgotten as the place was not so busy. Then when I asked, the staff said it was almost ready and after that I probably waited another 5-10 minutes. The Pide dough is damp and I am not sure if they rushed through that. I hope I get a better experience the next time I am back. It was a nice place in terms of the deco and ambience though.
Came on a Friday night. Really lovely service and food was delicious. Must order the shawarma lamb pizza and if you like a fusion dish - try the Mapo Tofu Lasagne :)
the food is rly nice and the environment is well decorated!! i reco the pizzas here and the bolognese
Bites & Brew, Crane Road: Crane Road, a stone’s throw away from Joo Chiat, is hotting up to be JC’s spillover belt. British Hainan was the first to be on the stretch but Tiong Bahru Bakery, Wooley’s Bagel and now Bites & Brew are crowding the quiet stretch. It’s an offshoot from their cafe in Shanghai and the only Chinese connection I experienced was hearing Chinese accents from neighbouring patrons. Some dishes had Chinese crossovers too. Our brunch items were strictly western - big breakfast with salmon - good to split with 2. Berries waffles were so eye-oogling but the waffle was soggy and lacked the usual crisp and lightness. That was a shame. The ice cream was good. The styling felt more rustic vintage Peranakan than Shanghainese, if that was the intent. It was packed by noon on a Sunday, since it’s exploding all over the ‘gram so if you’re heading here over the weekend, book your seat. #eatstylishtravelstylish
Love the vibes here and staff is attentive
Great food
Very kids friendly They give little toys to kids and candy
Nice place for breakfast or branch. Tasty food. Relaxing atmosphere. Fast and friendly staff. Reasonable price. On top of it, complimentary chocolate candies put this place above my expectations. I plan to come back on the weekend to try their dinner menu.
Excellent service n yummy food. Great ambience too. Special mentioned to your team, Mike n Steven n Fiona.
New cafe with interesting food. location wise not very accessible by public transport, as it is not near mrt stations and about 500m to nearest bus stop.
Good environment, nice food and good service. Well spent my noon w friends here, chill.
Celebrated a friend's birthday here and loved everything. Came for dinner and the vibes is great! Warm gestures from store manager Mike. Thanks!
Delicious Chicken Risotto! On the menu 25 - charged 28!?!? Our kids loved it too! Amazing Peranakan interior as well! Had to wait ages though and in the end they completely forgot to bring our ice cream. Service team needs some practice.
Great decor and service!
Let’s not forget the quality of food - I had a Dalgona coffee & Jian Bing Burrito. Can’t recommend it enough.
How did I not know about this place earlier??
Food was great and I love the atmosphere here. We received a very good service from Mike. Definitely will come back again
It’s extremely difficult to find a decent brunch cafe in Singapore, but Bites & Brews is hands down the best brunch spot. Friendly servers, top tier food, and excellent ambience. I couldn’t rave more about this place, I was just blown away by what they delivered! Also, Mike was the loveliest and always checked in on us and made sure we were going well. Safe to say, I’ll be coming back very often ☺️
the food was incredible and the service was the cherry on top of my whole experience, will definitely come back again :)
Good food with nice environment. Good place to chilling during weekend.
the pasta was amazing but the chicken was abit tough but still good! amazing service and atmosphere! super cozy vibes and instagram worthy place :)
Friendly owner and service crews with interesting food options. Super chill vibes for a weekend lunch. Service was top notch!
Famous Shanghai brand ‘ bites & brews ‘ is in Singapore! Enjoy the freshly make red curant and chicken satay sandwich with vegi as healthier side. This brunch will last me whole day long 😋😋😋
Mapo tofu lasagna was surprisingly good! Great vibes overall :)
New found gem in the east for weekend brunch hang-out and evening drinking places. Orange coffee and Jian Bing are perfectly matched.
Nice ambience with polite but slow and forgetful service. Mains were nice but avoid the "pizzas", we tried the lamb, seafood and chicken pizzas, all were average at best. Clamshells on the seafood pizza... why??
Pet friendly place in the east with reasonably priced brews and yummy food. Service staff is nice and friendly too.
Food was good and the portion was big too! Lemonade was rly nice and the vibes and atmosphere here is amazing! Service staff was all very friendly ☺️
The food was amazing and the ambient here is good!
New restaurant in Joo Chiat. Food is good. Beer menu will be ready next week.
really good! The restaurant owner also gave us ice cream! We will come again😀
really loved the food & vibes of this place! will defo come back a second time! the hummus was chefs kiss
Great food and atmosphere!
Amazing B&B Burger patty, juicy and flavorful. Perfect burger, will be back for more.. staff very friendly and great ambience.
Very nice food and environment. Will come again!
They charged us $8 for a bottle of still water without telling us they served free water. Without the dishonest service it’s a decent restaurant.
I’m so happy Bites and Brews is open now. Great menu. Very interesting/unusual. Like an American/European influence on modern Italian dishes with a sprinkling of Asian influences.
I’ll definitely be back. The sandwiches and pastas are great. Love the drinks menu and wine list too.
Reasonable prices.
Menu is a bit limited. Some of the food is good but don't order the pizzas. Sucks.
sourdough was great and the pasta too!!😋
i like the cafes atmosphere, the food is really good also, salmon avocado sourdough sandwich are perfectly combined with the cheese pull, would reccomend my friends and family to eat here👍👍
Beautiful and peaceful place, food is just excellence as the service. Management do care and make sure you have the best experience!! Will comeback again for sure.
Newly opened and came to try while they are at their soft opening phase so i suppose the menu is still limited. Nice and quiet location and the staff were really friendly and responsive. The only minor gripe was the wait for food was quite long right now but hopefully that will be ironed out soon. Pretty good addition to the neighbourhood and worth checking out.
the food was amazing , especially the wagyu ribeye was done to perfection
customer service was amazing , even provided us with complementary waffles for our anniversary and the atmosphere is serene and chill
The food is very nice and healthy. I ordered the spinach pasta which is surprisingly great. You won't feel guilty coz it's soooo healthy! I also tried the affogato and it's just so good (tho small).
Nice ambience with peranakan style decor. Food is nice too. My fav is the philly cheese steak (grilled cheese on sourdough), and matcha ice cream! Service is great and pretty boss is friendly.
Pros
- sourdough bread (eg Texan and Philly Cheese steak) were generally nice and filling
- service provided by service staff in general was good as the staff tried to manage a full restaurant
Neutral
- straws given were way too long for the cups given
- tbh the water container looked a bit suspect and hope that it is regularly cleaned
Cons
- ice black was subpar
- Jian Bing Burrito was underwhelming
- incorrectly charged for Philly Cheese Steak (31 instead of 26), and even though was refunded 5$, we weren't refunded service charge; suspect many others could have been incorrectly charged as well
- staff with blond hair was in a hurry, poor body language (leaning over the table, impatient, and almost rolling eyes) and overall a negative vibe in the cafe that we came to relax at; she should not be in a customer facing role
really nice vibes!! the menu has a lot of east-meets-west items such as the mapo tofu lasagna and jian bing breakfast burrito. we really enjoyed the flavourful dishes. be sure to try the apricot-honey rose tea — it's super refreshing which is perfect for hot days 💕
Great local food spot with a beautiful atmosphere. Love the staff here. Made our experience one to remember!
Sooo yummy especially the grilled cheese steakk!!!!!😋😋
Good music and good service! Great garlic butter sauce :)
all the food are very good and the place are very beautiful.
Good food and nice environment🥰 workers are nice too
A beautiful cafe with the best Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in SG. Service was superb, definitely a great date spot
Nice place for brunch , would recommend the jasmine matcha after a meal , vv refreshing :>
Love the staffs sooo much, they were so friendly and caring. Food was incredible 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is an amazing restaurant. Their waffles are an absolute hit - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, paired with fresh berries and hand-whipped cream, making every bite full of texture. I especially like their attention to the presentation, from the embellishment of mint leaves to the artistic placement of berry jam, they all reflect delicacy and creativity. In addition to desserts, their savory options are equally outstanding, with fresh salads and generously packed sandwiches. The dining environment is elegant, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. It's a great choice whether you're hanging out with friends or relaxing on the weekend.
Their waffles are absolutely the star - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, paired perfectly with fresh berries and house-made whipped cream, offering delightful layers of texture in every bite. The presentation is particularly impressive, from the fresh mint garnish to the artistic drizzle of berry sauce. Beyond desserts, their savory options shine equally bright - fresh salads and generously filled sandwiches. The elegant dining environment, friendly service, and reasonable prices make it an ideal spot for both friendly gatherings and weekend relaxation.
The atmosphere at night was great, and every dish was a surprise for us! ! Especially recommend the pasta and pizza, I will order them next time! !

piña colada red snapper
The matcha gin and tonic is delicious!
The environment is very good, the service attitude is also very good, the food is delicious, I recommend the Mapo Tofu Lasagna
Finally got to try bites and brews! Food was pretty good. Mapo tofu lasagna was interesting and flavourful. Pork was soft and juicy, quite refreshing as well with the fruits. Service could be improved - such as topping up water. Ambience is 10/10 though. Don’t think I’ll come back but will definitely recommend to visit at least once!
Super excited to try out this cozy cafe!
Here’s what we got:
🍳 B&B Breakfast
A hearty mix of sausage, chickpea stew, sourdough toast, tater tots, grilled tomato, mushrooms, and salad 🥗 a solid brunch plate. The sourdough toast was the star! super crunchy and perfect with everything. Sadly, the sausage had a strange texture that wasn’t for me, but everything else was really yummy!
🧀 Philly Cheesesteak (⭐ MUST TRY ⭐️)
This was the highlight of our visit! The grilled beef was tender and juicy and the cheddar + mozzarella combo brought that satisfying cheese pull 🤪 Every bite was rich and flavourful and even after sitting out for a while, the bread stayed crisp!! The onions could’ve been more caramelized but overall it was absolutely delicious! Don’t miss this one ☝️
🍟 Truffle fries
Was so excited to try their truffle fries! It’s a must get sides! While the truffle flavour wasn’t super strong, the mushroom sauce on the side made up for it! This is perfect for those who do not like their truffle to be strong!
☕ Coffee Dalgona with Banana (⭐ MUST TRY ⭐)
This drink surprised us in the best way!! The sweet banana flavour blended beautifully with the bold dalgona coffee, creating a refreshing yet creamy sip! It felt like a dessert in a cup and we loved every bit of it 🤎 If you’re up for something unique, this one’s a great choice!
🍵 Matcha Latte
This was a bit of a letdown for matcha lovers. The milk overpowered the matcha, making it taste too creamy and lacking that strong, earthy matcha we were hoping for. It’s smooth but could definitely use more matcha!
Excellent service and good food. Enjoyed the blend of flavours.
