Reviews of Chao Yue Xuan Dim Sum Express
They serve express dim sum items at affordable price. Noodle was hard and come without vegetables which menu show there is. Staff has no explanation for it. Just silent when sought clarification. It was way much better when operating at Junction 9. Rather disappointed.
Service was great.
Staff are friendly. We went near closing and the staff are patient enough for us to be done with our meal. They were also helpful when we were facing technical difficulties.
Food wise was quite average, almost the same as several other Dim Sum stores I've been to. But their mala siew mai would be a good try. Wouldn't really recommend their steamed chicken and mushroom though, as the flavours of the dish didn't seem to be brought out to blend well unlike othe places.
But personally my highlight would be the pork wanton dry noodles.
The food here really surprised me. Don't be discouraged by their simple menu and normal presentation of dishes, they taste way better than it looks! Ordered the congee with shredded meat- though it looks simple when it is served to our table, below the surface there are generous amount of shredded chicken meat and it is very delicious especially when u added bits of soy sauce in it.
2nd dish that surprised me was the pork chop rice, it looks like simple pork chop w white rice at the bottom. But no, turned out we were fooled by its look! The sauce they added into the rice made it so fragrant and in the end we finished the whole rice. It seems like they added some red onion oil in it. And the pork chop although it looks so much smaller than the pic on the menu, it is crispy and well seasoned!
Another one i would recommend is the sesame ball! They are HUGE and rich with lotus paste instead of just air! It took me a few bites in order to finish one ball loll
Would definitely come back again!
Updated review on 15/11/24:
Love their wantan mee as always, very fragrant (probably using the fried shallot oils or pork lard). Wantan very big, but the meat inside is very pink and chewy up until a point i start to doubt whether it is cooked. But my friend reassure me it is cooked🙈.
Ordered their milo and yuan yang (mixed coffee + tea). The order itself has "less sweet" and "pok" version. We tried both on different drinks, turned out it is still very sweet.
Strongly suggest them to put another option for "no sugar". The "less sweet" and "pok" are STILL VERY FREAKING SWEET.
The price is surprisingly low in an air-conditioned mall setting, however the taste is also surprisingly low. None of the steamed dishes were better than hawker quality. Wonton mee was so-so. Shrimp toast was the best among those, freshly fried.
Nice place with friendly staff. There was a crowd during lunch time but we did not need to queue. Menu was limited compared to other dim sum places. But they had non-authentic types of siew mai so it can be interesting to try.
Price is slightly cheaper than swee Choon and much affordable than Tim Ho wan. Food is nothing to rave about. We had kids so the Fast and good service is appreciated. Ok dim sum place to just fill your stomach.
We ordered chicken claws, carrot cake, beancurd prawn roll, red bean paste pancake, kopi o and Chinese tea.
Chicken claws sauce not very sweet, taste good. Beancurd prawn roll is nice and red bean paste pancake not very sweet and still acceptable.
Will visit again to try other foods
bland tasting food. Need more work. Only the porridge is slightly ok. Chicken mushroom rice is edible but the cook need to decide this is braised type of flavour or what genre. Siu Mai was like biting into konyaku. Lo Mai Kai was too dense and lacks has something. Desert served in take-away container although dining-in.
This newly opened dim sum spot has already drawn us back for a second visit! The food is delicious, and the service is fast and efficient. 😊
Ordered chicken and mushroom rice, portion is enough for me. Price is reasonable too, it was $4.80, consider cheap as they are located in a mall… staff are friendly as well, efficient service 👍
First time here. The fried pork chop is crispy with the yummy springy noodles. The steamed minced pork rice and the congee are equally yummy. Couldn't taste the watercress in the drink. Only tried 1 Dim Sum. The sweet sour beancurd skin roll is ok. Prices reasonable.
If you are looking for really good dim sum at an affordable price, this is the one.
Efficient and friendly staff with good service! Food is tasty, will come again!
Was quite surprised to see so many negative reviews, but I am impressed with their fast service and delicious food.
We dine in on a Friday evening and was guided to our seats very quickly despite the queue, the food was served very quickly too. We didn't dilly dally for too long and ate our food in peace. With only occasional polite questions if they could clear our empty plates. (Some may find it rude, but in my opinion, I feel they are just doing their job to quickly clear the tables and preparing for the next batch of customers to come in, so they don't have to wait too long.)
Ordered a variety of food and it was very delicious and affordable (considering that you're dining in a mall). Their shrimp toast was damn good, crunchy on the surface and soft inside. Their mushroom chicken rice is another recommended item too, the sauce is very flavourful and good compliment with the rice, chicken very soft and melts in the mouth.
Honest review
Food 💯 if not, close.
Drinks wise you might wanna order less sweet otherwise legit quite sweet for me.
But normally I don’t like too sweet lah.
Food ingredients are very fresh, serving is fast and staff are very friendly. Highly recommended and affordable priced!
Most recommended Wanton mee and braised pork ribs. Good texture on the noodles, and softest ribs I've had.
Overall satisfactory, good service too. The fried food and congee are quite tasty too
You need to eat with light soy sauce to bring out the flavours.
Enjoyed the fried carrot cake and mala noodles, definitely coming back again!
I like the Red bean paste pancake not so sweet.
Beancurd roll is nice
Service is friendly
The only thing no tissue provided
food is good and served quickly. staff is friendly 👍🏻
Tables are wide. Food is great and big portion. Not expensive.
Highly recommend.
Quality of food is good and prices are reasonable for an express outlet. Service is very good and wait staff are attentive.
Food here are delish!! esp the banana and prawn balls. Will be back
Almost finish the all the food. So delicious. Will be back for sure for their yuan yang ice. Is so good.
Char Siew Bun and Sweet & Sour Beancurd are good. Fast service.
Friendly staff, fast service and most prices are below $5 per item.
The chicken feet here is so soft and delicious. Basically food here is good!
Nice food, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff! Recommend their prawn dishes!
I ordered Fried Pork Chop Noodle and Watercress Honey drink. The noodle portion not alot and the portion cutlet was fried to golden crispy. Noodle was abit too dry for my liking and the noodle wasn't cut or spread well, it's like a whole junk of noodle and I have to bite off the noodles on every mouth of intake. Overall price reasonable and will come again to try their tim sum.
Food options are little as this is an express branch. Service is good. Taste of food can be better.
Beancurd prawn roll is slightly oily, but very crispy. Siew Mai was really average. The Century Egg and Lean Meat Congee is average.
The quality of dimsums was below average. But their service was good.
Portion abit small, but for the price whats there to complain right? Good la
Food is homely, share are reasonable; staffs are polite and responsive, food arrived quickly, fried carrot cake is nice! Best of all, no service charge at the moment.
The staff is friendly and approachable. The food here is yummy as well! Both Myself and my daughter love the prawn and banana roll and crispy prawn roll.
The food is nice n tasty, recommended!
Very friendly service staff. Can feel their delication.
The food tastes lighter compared to other dim sum places and the service is right on point. I love the glutinous rice! It’s a must try!
Table turn over was fast. Food was served pretty fast and warm. Portion of wanton noodles was just nice for 1 pax.
We dine in ordered wanton noodles is very nice and dessert lemongrass jelly is delicious not sweet, will come again.
The ting Zai porridge is disappointing cos of too much cabbage and it look more like chicken porridge. But I would say the wanton noodle and the steam carrot cake is good.
affordable option, food taste ok, would be great if there's more condiments ( Vinegar, Chilli Oil, Mayonnaise ) and variety of dim sum.
45 min eating time. You get chased to leave. Faster than fast food mode, not suitable for family and friends gathering.
Glad they came to Northpoint. Used to go to Junction 9 for their dim sum. Great food and they serve fast! No service charge, thumbs up
Been here a couple of times. Childhood kind of dim sum.
Great place for family to have a meal together.
The wait to dine-in was very short, staffs are friendly and served the food fast & hot.
Char Siew bao was good!
Food are nice. Clean and spacious.
One of the best dim sum place I had in NORTHPOINT. Service it’s fast and fresh. Highly recommend this dim sum.
I had been here many times. The food here is excellent and delicious. I loved it!
Newly opened dimsum place! Food was served hot and fresh and server was super attentive and polite :) Great experience!
For quick fix of dim sum, food was simple and nice and affordable.
Fast and friendly service too.
Affordable , food not too bad acceptable
Milk tea is superb. Very tasty.
Food not bad but options very limited. Price is not bad.
Food is nice and affordable 👍
Nice dimsum and reasonable price
Came here with colleagues. Highly recommend the noodles, porridge and rice.
Food ok.. disappointed as no har gow
Good and convenient location, fast serving and delicious food
Very nice and cheap for the quality of dim sum
The iced milk tea is good and service was prompt.
Their dimsum taste very good 👍🏻
Ok. The food is delicious. The employees are kind. The place is also clean,
Very authentic Chaozhou Cantonese dim sum, I tried Tingzi porridge, spicy siomai, taro cake, steamed pork ribs, and bean paste pot cake, great!
Diverse food, reasonable prices, especially cheerful and clean service staff.
Food is good.
Preserved egg and lean meat porridge, fried carrot cake, and steamed pork pie with winter vegetables and rice are good.
Sticky rice siomai is not as good as the authentic Shanghainese one.
Good service.
You get free drink for each google review you write.
The ting Zai porridge is disappointing cos of too much cabbage and it look more like chicken porridge. But I would say the wanton noodle and the steam carrot cake is good.
The food is okay, the service attitude is good, and the overall situation is good. However, there is no tissue provided, not even a single one.
On the first day of business, the food is good, the price is not expensive, and there is no 10% service charge.
I have seen many comments saying that their dim sum is not good and their service is not good, but I think they are good and not as bad as they say. They are economical and affordable.
Not bad. More than enough for two people.
I like the dim sum here very much, very fresh and delicious, well worth it
