Reviews of Choga Korean Restaurant HillV2
Was craving for some meats and chanced upon their bbq buffet menu. It was brilliant and good!
Will be back for sure!
Been there multiple times simply because their seafood pancake is delicious and was at one point, one of the best Korean pancakes we've had.
However, I must admit that their staff and owner's attitude can be rather lacking at times - we don't exactly feel welcomed at the restaurant and it seems like a hassle for them whenever we called for attention. The BBQ meat is average at best but their side dishes and main dishes such as their stews are pretty good. The menu is also quite extensive with a good variety.
As always, the food is pricey as per most Korean restaurants. I've gradually stopped visiting as there are better restaurants nearby with better prices and service.
The one and only Korean restaurant available at Hillview. The food tastes great and service is decent. I understand the high rental costs leading to high costs of the food, but it is still way too costly to visit here often. Definitely hard to come with friends, and it is also difficult to come with family.
Furthermore if you order a BBQ set, oof there goes your $3-digits. But to be fair, many Korean restaurants here are like this, and Shin Manbok is one of those better ones. Those wanting to try Korean food should give it a try; althou my family and myself doesn't go often due to the heavy prices
Some crowds in weekend lunch. Short queue but super long wait. If the sides dishes can be served earlier why we are waiting then it should make us feel better. Food is at best average. Price is typical Korean restaurant. Not very worth the wait.
Ordered a la carte, comes with side dishes. I like the food and side dishes, but definitely not their crunchy chicken. It stated “not fried”, not sure now they cook it, the flour is totally tasteless. Can skip that dish. Other than that, others we had is alright.
It was average. Stew was way overpriced at $18 with no prawns (even tho it was a seafood stew) and close to tasteless (think they forgot to add something?). Egg was nice tho and worth it ($5). Chicken was also good! Just disappointed at the stew. Maybe 3.5stars haha
July 2024
Came for BBQ set dinner. Food quality still as good as before.
Nice Korean restaurant. We ordered the:
- ginseng chicken - soup was tasty, but the chicken was a bit dry
- steamed egg - nice and fluffy, without the chaota smell
- kimchi fried rice - not in the picture but it was really tasty
Had a wonderful time and full tummy at the establishment.didnt face service issues.quality of food was good for the buffet, selection may seem little but overall good as didn't come out smelling
Just had my dinner there this evening. The food was great and the price was acceptable. Sadly, the hygiene standard of one particular lady staff was disappointing. We asked her to pack the remaining pancake for us. She placed one of the side dish plates she collected from the other table on our pancake plate! That could have easily contaminated our pancake!
Came for a quick meal. Portions are perfect and it's delicious. Have came here before for their BBQ, which is also very worth it.
This is one of my favourite korean restaurant with decently priced BBQ sets and free refills of side dishes. The quality of the food is rather good and they are generous in their refills. These is also staff on hand to help you to BBQ the food to the correct level. Thumbs up and worthy of 5 stars.
Great service and food. Love the side dishes! Good for groups, many huge meal options for 2 to 6 pax
Authentic Korea food. BBQ by staff. Food is acceptable.
Was skeptical after reading the reviews online about the unfriendly boss but nope, the boss is super nice when we arrive and also guide us to our table and give us time to select what we want.
The food is amazing and I think it’s pretty decent with the price charged. Just that Ice water is serve instead of the usual barley tea you get outside.
1. 4 Kinds of BBQ meat which is sufficient and refillable. We love their chicken and beef brisket the most.
2. Garlic Soy Chicken; it’s so crispy and you can taste the marination and see the sauce on it. It’s very very good but the portion given is a bit too much for 5 person include other selection.
3. Seafood Pancake; it’s good too! we manage to bit into shrimps and squids and not so much flour like other places.
4. Soy Bean Soup; good too but just taste like Soy Bean Soup.
5. Rice Cake; this is pretty amazing and we love the chewy rice cake.
Overall, we enjoy our buffet dinner and the service staffs and boss are nice people. Will visit again.
Food and price is reasonable and decent. The ladies staff are nice. However, all went down the drain when I asked the male boss a question and shouted at me. My friend and I were shocked by his rudeness. I think even the 2 uncles sitting next to us were in surprised by his response. If it wasn't for the female staff, my rating would have been 1-2 stars. I can clearly see how all the bad ratings are due to the male boss' attitude.
Really good Korean fried chicken and all other dishes were pretty decent
V delightful authentic Korean BBQ meal, boss personally cooked for us and it was fantastic baby. Downside will probably be a pinch on the wallet, slightly ex but overall, we hv enjoyed our lunch today.
Tasting Korean BBQ just downstairs, $19 buffet for lunch really worth the money. Good service, will come back
Used to patronise this place before it changed owner. Food wise is still very similar to the previous, albeit price increase. Ordered a bbq set and fried chicken. The marinated beef was heavenly which amusingly caused my 4yo kid to dream of beef that very night. She pestered us for bbq beef the whole week. 1 week down, we visited another korean restaurant along bukit timah and left feeling unsatisfied. Would be back here next time to prevent disappointment.
Authentic Korean taste. Bbq set is a must try, includes side dishes. I was satisfied with all the food we ordered. If you want some authentic Korean food, you must try this place
The bbq set is quite popular with diners. The meat is nicely seasoned and the staff will offer to cook in front of guests. Parking is limited at hillv2 though
Consistent service (good quality too!) and taste of food. Had their buffet and I highly recommend their spicy chicken, kimchi pancake, and tofu soup.
Authentic korean restaurant. Will definitely be back for the Korean fried chicken!

Had the lunch bbq. Pleasant experience! Friendly and helpful staff 😀. Cuts of meat are a little more fatty than what I am used to.
Decent food, solid meal. If servers could smile more this will probably be one of the best go to places for Korean food around
Good food and good service! Kudos to the two young servicers (a young lady without spec in a ponytail & a young guy who only speaks English) who serve our table. 👍
Price is considered high, food I think is normal not fantastic.probably will not patronise again.
Their lunch sets are really nice. Available on all days (for now). Recommend their soup sets (Kimchi Jjiggae, Doenjang Jjiggae)
All time favourite Korean BBQ for us. The beef even though expensive was delicious !
First time here..
Quite like the seafood pancake, kimchi soup, meat tastes okay too..
Loved it. the food is good. Bring a buddy and go for one of the bbq sets.
Shortage of staff. Busy place.
Good korean food. Service is above average.
The set lunch taste okay priced not value
Authentic Korean restaurant!!
Staff is friendly and food taste nice!!
I liked korean food here especially the bbq
Friendly boss n staff. Food is good
The first Korean food I ate after a week of traveling in Vietnam!!! The soybean paste stew was delicious ~~~ This may be extremely subjective, but the kimchi fried rice was also really delicious!!!^^ I think it’s the best when you miss real Korean food haha.
A restaurant that serves not only chicken but also other foods better than Korea.
The side dishes are so delicious that it's worth a visit just for the side dishes alone.
