Reviews of Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine 醉花林品潮轩
The service from Miss Guo Yu Chun and Chris Seah are exceptionally good and they are always refilling our tea and prompt in changing the plates.
Food is good!
We will be back again!
It is my second visit in 2 months and the cold crabs are a delight to eat- slightly firm meat that has a hint of sweetness from its natural flavour. Lots of roe! We ordered the drunken cold crab to try and it was the bomb! The wine mixture adds an warming flavour to the cold crab and elevated the taste.
Other enjoyable dishes are the deep fried ngoh hiang (hei cho), pig trotter terrine and yam paste with pumpkin and gingko
This place has a slight old school charm with very friendly and attentive wait staff
Attended a wedding dinner in a small ballroom. The food was Jin Ho Jiak, but the service could be improved, and the system definitely needs an upgrade - it screwed up the night without the wedding montage. 😅 Still, a blissful night overall. 💍✨
Most of the food selection are great and the dishes are uniquely different (with a hint of enhancements to most of the dishes). The braised duck is a must try, sweet and sour pork too and the tau suan is also very nice.
Staffs are very friendly and polite so it was a pleasant dining experience.
The only few pointers that I did not like personally are a) the steam pomfret had a little too mush sour veg thus the overall soup tends to be sourish (not sure if it is due to the fact that we asked for it to serve with our chilli) b) the dried sole fish wasn't fragrant enough which I thought they will fry first before serving but somehow it lacks that taste c) we were offered seats on level 2 and the walkway to toilet will pass through the kitchen and the escape stairs. The area is badly filled with cigarette smoking stench.
Services was excellent. All waiters and waitresses were polite and attentive. Restaurant is clean, seats are spacious. Food was OK but just not as good as expected of a top tier TeoChew crusine Restaurant in Singapore.
Waitress Guo Yu Chun was simply exceptional. She is super attentive, polite and customer centric. It makes us feel as though we are in a first class suite!
Please help us to thank her as well as the manager, Flora Tran. The manager was exceptionally attentive, polite and welcoming. You certainly have highly motivated and dedicated staff. Keep it up. 👏👏👏
YoYo delivers a satisfying dining experience with both delicious food and attentive service. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, the environment very suitable for gathering! Highly recommended!
Let me know if you’d like more details on specific dishes or ambiance!
First time here for lunch on a mother's day.
The buildinf itself is beautiful and the place is huge.
2nd floor dining ballroom gives a nostalgic feel back in the 90's.
Food was way above expectation, parents enjoyed it.
I like where 2 different complimentary tea were given before and after food. Not many places does that, so a thumbs up.
Seafood abalone claypot and bamboo clam dish are a must try as they were cooked to near perfection. There were no problem chewing, except the broccoli which was quite hard but fork and knife were provided.
Service was great. Staff were attentive and listened to our request.
Getting to dine at the ball room area with high ceiling and spacious seatings, my family felt relaxed and totally enjoyed the time spent here.
Lots of parking spaces in the basement but sadly no complimentary parking.
Teo Chew food in the Teo Chew clan association better be good! Safe to say it is and service standards are excellent as well. Very attentive staff.
Food is of a good standard despite the large crowd. Really liked the cold crabs and chai poh kway teow. 10/10 dishes. Only disappointment was probably the promfet. It could have been steamed lesser cause the flesh was starting to get rough. Considering how they butterflied the meat, I expected them to reduce the steaming time. Oh the oyster omelette was good too!
But overall a solid Chinese restaurant to go to!
The food was well presented, delicious and value for money. The servers were very helpful and serve with a smile. They are patient and seek to listen and serve with minimal delay even though the restaurant was full. Keep up the good work!
Ruby Tee is very customer oriented. We have a wonderful lunch. Food is excellent. With great service from her, we enjoyed the meal. Thank you.
Excellent food; ambient atmosphere... Love it!
The service from Zhu Lan was really good, and very much appreciated.
Food is good but the food is TERRIBLY SLOW.
But they refill tea diligently. So I’m pretty full becase we just drink tea.
1hr in 11:35-12:35, we are still waiting for our hot food. Only chilled food were served in 1 hour
Food takes too long
Excellent Teochew food at an absolute great price with value! Love the braised duck that’s done really well with a good braise. the puning steamed chicken is done well with the meat still being juicy. love the oyster cake too, thin and crispy with fat oysters! between the mee pok n kway teow, hands down the kway teow was my fav with a great balance of wok hei! The orh nee was done really well without being too oily or sweet! would definitely come back here again :)
First visit here for a wedding lunch. Food is cooked at the restaurant on level one and brought up to banquet hall on level two.
8 courses of lovely teochew cuisine.
Enjoyed every single dish and just to point out the ones that really stood out were the
Prawn ball
-Crispy and can taste the prawn inside
Sharks' fin
-Good amount of fin and crab meat. The starch soup well-balanced.
Ngoh hiang
-Crispy, filled fully on the inside, good bite
Garoupa fish
-fresh, well-descaled, tender meat, tasty soup
Roasted suckling pig
-crispy skin, meat tender goes well with the sweet sauce.
Yam paste
-thick, not too sweet, really perfect but portion only 2 spoons.
Pricing is on the higher side for this place after checking out their menu. As compared to other teochew cuisine I have eaten.
Five stars for the service. I think the food was above average. Plenty of parking at basement, so if you're driving to this restaurant there's parking at the restaurant. I love the panfried oyster cake! crunchy on one side - but need to wait about 25 minutes for this to be serve.
Been to several Teochew restaurants. This is currently the best in Singapore.
1. Quality
2. Authentic
3. Fresh ingredients
It can get crowded on weekends. The price is slightly pricey but you get what you pay for. Enjoyable experience!
Very nice authentic Teochew food. Very good service by Sammi Lin and others. Atmosphere is so so, as ours is a makeshift table although reservation was made well in advance.
Treated to a weekend lunch here, and was actually my first time to this Keng Lee road in Singapore despite being in the area multiple times now 😅
The clubhouse is certainly majestic looking with a cool Chinese vibe going on, it houses a couple of function rooms and also 2 restaurants at the first level.
Food was good in general, nothing really stood out. But the price was rather steep, with set menus going at $700++ at the minimum and ala carte dishes being on the higher end of the price range too.
Definitely a good experience but I wouldn’t return on my own since the cuisine is not something I can fully appreciate.
Food was good as always. Service was disappointing.
1. Front counter saw my guests and I approaching, didn't receive us. Instead picked up the phone and then proceeded to ignore us. No one else came to the front and we were left standing like idiots to watch the staff make her call.
2. Staff need more training in service. Inattentive and didn't change plates that already had sauce/ bones. Rotated the table away while my guest was trying to take food from a dish. Stood between my guest and I (breaking our conversation) to pour tea. For context, there were just 3 of us seated at a table that could take 6 people comfortably, so there's lots of other places to stand.
Not the kind of service standards expected for this type of restaurant.
Love the food and service! Only downside is abit pricey
Quality teochew food with excellent service. Definitely a place to go if you want to impress your parents/in-laws or business contacts. Price is slightly on the high side though.
Went for lunch. Nice food as always.
As near CNY so service a little slow.
Overall okay experience
Great service and good authentic Teochew fare!~ by Jumbo Seafood Group. Nicely situated at 170 year-old Chui Huay Lim Club, the dishes are delicious! We tried the Teochew Pig Trotter Jelly, Teochew Braised Goose and my favourite Oyster Omelette. Overall a great place to recommend!
This has to be my favorite Teochew restaurant! It’s located along a small road and a bit hard to find but definitely worth the effort! The food is amazing and the steamed pomfret is a must have!
First of all, the staff is amazing, correct helpful, nice and very professional. The food great, very fresh and amazing recipes. The place looks very good, a big room with different kind of table sizes. There are also some attached rooms where you can enjoy your meal in a more private way. I recommend booking in advance
2nd visiting with friends. The food was great as usual. Fresh and tasty, although even than it was a bit hit-and-miss by the waitress/waiter. Overall I would love to come back for the food food
Celebrated Dad’s 90th birthday lunch at CHL on 27 Jan 24 and a BIG THANK YOU/谢谢 to Ella Chen and her team for making the occasion a memorable one . 👍🏻👍🏻
Decent food; but a little pricey for the seafood. Like the Fried oyster, braised duck with tofu (tofu is really tasty), sea cucumber and cold crab. However, the server is a little pushy on the order - keep telling you to order the lobsters, goose, some special fish etc. Be wary, a single order of lobster can be 300++ after 50% discount, crab is about a 100 etc
The fish maw soup is a bit salty n i dont taste like got crab meat or fish maw taste some funny taste .the roast pig come with no leg a bit funny .n the vip room service is damp bad , can serve tea until the tea pot cover drop on the tea cup very clumsy very bad service
You probably know your establishment is the go-to Teochew restaurant in Singapore with a fine reputation n not a cheap place to dine at.
You lives up to the reputation today. The foods r simply great!
We had the Teochew Pomfret Porridge n the presentation n the various condiments that go with it made the dish standout fr any other fish porride we hv eaten b4. Nice!!
The Pig Trotter Jelly is big n chewy. The 5-Spice prawn roll is great.
Love the orange-peel scented dou xian for us though at >Sgd6 is not in everyone's range.
The young Teochew captain is friendly n speaking in Teochew make us feel even more at home.
The waiting staffs r great too.
STILL, a gold standard for Teochew cuisines in Singapore.
Tks u!!
We celebrated a birthday over lunch on Saturday here. Easy to make reservations and carpark was in the same building. Danny was very helpful and provided good service. My mum who is Teochew enjoyed the dishes. Not too salty or oily. Will come again!
Authentic and traditional Teochew cuisine located within this Teochew Organization (Club). Enjoyed the steamed soon hock fish; can’t go wrong.
Food was quite good, service staff were on point and friendly. Would come here again, just wished it was more bang for a buck
I recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine, and it truly felt special. Our servers, Zhulan and Guo Yuchun, were so kind and attentive, making sure we felt right at home. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed without ever rushing us.
We tried several dishes, each one better than the last, but the star of the night was the lobster—it was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The whole experience, from the delicious food to the warm, welcoming service, made it a night to remember. I can't wait to return!
A good place to catch up and chat. We had a very attention Danny Cha who helped make sure we were all comfortable. Thank you.
Authentic Teochew Fine Dining. 50% discount for Lobsters. Try the fried Punning Tofu direct from Puning City. Finished with Taro Dessert.
Old school traditional teochew cuisine. Pricey but I think the quality of ingredients and mastery in the cooking makes it worth.
Good to come as a family to celebrate special occasions. Please get the fried sea cucumber and fried pork rib you will not regret it!
Disappointing Dining Experience
The fact that I reviewed it with three stars is because some of the dishes just above average.
I brought my family to this restaurant, and we are all Teochew!
Salted Soy Bean (Attached untouch)
- The staff doesn't know what it is in a Teochew Cuisine
- Taste is totally not good
Porridge
- Have to beg/remind them to serve
- The manager said they don't know when to serve
Braised Duck
- NO
These are a few of my thoughts as a Teochew, the price I am paying at least serve us the porridge in the beginning or ask. Might as well serve after dessert.
Just not worth paying to experience this restaurant.
There are other restaurants that you pay with similar or lower pricing that serve better food and better service.
There is a reason why I can make a reservation a day before at this restaurant. While I am unable to make it with other restaurants.
Delicious and refined food. Good service too despite the restaurant being busy.
Special thanks to Mr Wang Yuan Wei for his help and professional advice during an opera event cum dinner. It's my pleasure to work together with Yuan Wei. The food was awesome and the service by the team was great. Thanks to the team for making the event a success.
Ordered a set menu for 6 persons. The food portion is big. Every dish is well seasoned, not too salty, too. Love the Yam Paste - the best I have tried. The servers are very polite and friendly. Appreciate the teochew authentic dishes, pork jelly and steam fish.
I have been to the 2nd floor temporary location twice.
Yesterday was really disappointing cos we were celebrating my mum’s birthday and there was nothing much we could order as selection was very limited and they ran out fast for available items.
A fantastic Teochew restaurant with great food.
Ella Chen and Guo Yu Chun had good knowledge about the dishes and made excellent recommendations on the ice veg salad with plum sauce, the braised duck and the puning chicken.
All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
Visited a few times. Food was good. Latest visit order of dishes were chaotic with the meat dish coming before the cold dishes and soup.
Reservations easier for weekdays than weekends.
Very nice clean restaurant for meals with friends during this covid period. Driving there will be preferred as you will need to walk of you want to take public transportation. If you like teochew dishes then it's a recommended place for it.
I am glad to have your staffs Ms Kai Ling and Henry Tan good service performance.
Thanks for the management well trained.
Will like to come after your renovation.
I actually wanted to eat crab but understand that live crab is a pre order item which defer from Jumbo .. nevertheless I understand this but can’t help to feel a bit disappointed. It will be good if when I reserve the seat, someone or the system can share with me this information so that I can pre order for it to avoid disappointment. Else Zui been good and service is great.
V nice Teochew settings, they offer traditional Teochew cuisines and other Chinese restaurant cuisines. The Kampong chicken, sea cucumber with fish maw, fried scallops with asparagus, stir fry prawns with spinach, seafood fried rice, stir fried spinach with abalone sauce taste really nice !
Food was fantastic, good braised duck and fried mee sua. Thanks to our waitress Guo Yu Chun for the great service!
The teochew food here never disappoints. What really makes this place shine, however, is the excellent service offered. The staff are attentive to us, and the food was served at a comfortable pace. Special shout-out to Ms Guo Yu Chun, who made sure our cups were never empty. The Jumbo Group is lucky to have such good staff.
Serve very traditional Teochew dishes. Love the 猪脚冻,fried oysters, duck, chicken and not to forget the smooth yam paste 😋
Our server Guo Yu Chun was very diligent. She went above and beyond to serve us, constantly making sure our teacups were full and plates were changed.
The quality of food here is really good! Special mention to Ms Zhu Lan for her exceptional service provided over our dinner!
Great service by Guo Yuchun , who was very friendly and helpful. Food is great , love the braised duck, cold crab and org-nee.
Food is not bad.
Had an excellent dinner here. Mdm goh yu chun was super helpful and warm and friendly. Thank you very much for a great evening!
Very Beautiful birthday celebration thanks very much to the excellent service by a very efficient cheerful team led by Hai Yan assisted by Ella.
Great service and freshly cooked dishes, especially so for the seafood dishes. Will be back again! Thank you to Guo Yu Chen for the excellent service.
We ate dinner and hosted our wedding banquet in CHL restaurant. The food was excellent. Our guests from multiple nationalities also enjoyed the food. The staffs are very friendly and responsive when we asked for more details on the wedding dinner menu and venue.
The food was initially served a bit slow. But after communicating with the staff on duty, it was okay.
Thanks to staff Guo Yu Chun for the great service. Made the experience at dinner way better!
One of my favourite Teochew Restaurant in SG
Very good place to have family dinner
Very good chinese food and drinks
Very good staff attendance and service
Price a little bit overprice
Food was great. Service was excellent, they listen carefully to your needs. Good job!!!
Excellent and authentic Teochew food, impeccable service with experienced servers. Can get noisy. They have private rooms with minimum spending. They also do banquets in separate ballrooms upstairs. Lunch time and dinner time ambience is different.
A birthday celebration turned into a wonderful dining experience. The food was good, and the service great. My compliments to all the chef and service staff, especially Ms Ella Chen, whos recommendation, helpfulness and attentive service made it a memorable occasion.
I am totally impress with the management's concept of serving two different types of high quality, before and after dinner Chinese tea. I was also pleasantly surprised that ice water and wet tissue were not chargeable, unlike everywhere else nowadays. Well done, keep it up and thank you for preserving a fast extincting practice.
Lastly, although hard to fault the evening, but there are always areas for improvement. Two minor blemishes, the dish of the month with special discount was sold out. The other being I felt the portion sizes were under serving.
i love the food. The staff was kind and nice to all of us! i will be back
Food was fantastic. Real authentic Teochew cuisine.
Staff are attentive, and helpful.
Ambient a bit noisy though.
Will definitely come back!
Food standard holds up and tastes good especially suckling pig and sea cucumber.
Very good planning and accommodation to my last minute favours. Service was good and very prompt. Despite the heavy load, still maintain that warmth smile. One of the most wonderful experience I have. Keep up the good work.
Ella Chen was good. She is very helpful. We enjoy her service.
This is a birthday celebration. Excellent service by your staff Ms Xu Yun Rui and Ms Flora for being attentive to our needs. Keep up the good job!
The food is superb, though pricey but it is worth the quality. The staff are busy that might overlook in serving tea for the patrons.
The shrimps are very delicious and fresh. They are deliciously spiced and have a great texture. They taste crunchy. The service staff at Ren Bing are very good and the service is very attentive.
Authentic Teochew cuisine. Cold crabs, liver blossoms, braised duck, Teochew steamed pomfret very nice.
The food is delicious and the service is great. Worth eating
Guo Yu Chun v attentive n friendly staff
Excellent service 👍
Delicious Chaoshan cuisine. When booking a private room, be sure to ask if there is even in the lobby, otherwise it will be like finishing your dinner with other people singing.
The food was very good and the waiters were very welcoming, making us have a pleasant dining experience. 👍👍👍
