Small eatery with retro vibes. Warm or cold water is charged at $0.80 per big glass and is refillable.
We ordered the following :
1. Crab Omelette ($18.00) - very ordinary and pricey
2. Har Cheong Sotong Kia ($17.00) - tasty but too much batter
3. Hainanese Chicken Satay ($12.00 for 5 sticks) - meat was a bit too sweet, tanginess from the pineapple sauce in the dip balanced out the sweetness
4.Signature dish of Crispy Barramundi with Chef Joel's Red Curry Sauce ($29.00)- fish was fresh; curry sauce was thick and not memorable
5.Signature dish of Chef Joel's Mee Kia with sous vide truffle egg ($18.00)- forgettable
6. Tinpot Prawn Tang Hoon ($21.00)- tasty with 4 big prawns; fragrant factor could do with coriander and peppercorns
7. Signature dish of Chendol Panna Cotta ($8.00) - fragrant thick green chendol; panna cotta could be milkier
8. Teochew Orh Nee ($8.00) - a miss for me
Lovely modern zichar restaurant with a specially designed interior to remind us of the oldern days in SG, homely vibes!
I've tried the SG Style Chilli Prawn and its not really the kind of chilli prawn im expecting, but i guess the plus point is that it came "shellless" so we don't have to peel off the shells!! The Chicken satay and sayur lodeh was really good!
The Steamed Fish in Superior Soy Sauce was pretty tender and the Hakka Red Rice Wine Chicken was well-absorbed with the aroma of the red rice wine! It was served piping hot in a claypot with the chicken soaked in the sauce with red rice wine! The wine taste was pretty prominent! The Filial Pie Tee was a Peranakan appetiser and the Popiah Garden is similar to the taiwan famous popiah peanut ice cream roll! The Mao Shan Wang Ice Cream has a really strong durian flavour, loving it!
Definitely a place to visit for gathering and some local delights!
looking for a place that serves premium zichar with a unique twist? enjoy eating house is the place to be!!! mums are usually hard to impress but mine had such a good time here, she kept asking how is it that she has never heard of this place 😂
crispy fish with chef joel’s red curry sauce ($49):
- super meaty & tender barramundi paired with red nyona-inspired curry that’s thicker than what you usually find
- they were so thoughtful to portion the fish so nicely for us diners!
- my mum was singing praises for this dish for how value for money and delicious it was!
ugly cabbage in fish sauce ($16):
- to be honest, this isn’t something we would have ordered on our own given its price point
- but everybody recommended it so we had to get it!
- the good smoky aroma went hand in hand with the sweet and crunch cabbage, it would definitely blow the minds of your guests!
tinpot prawn tanghoon ($21):
- this sauce soaked, aromatic glass noodle tasted so good while it was still hot, we definitely inhaled this!
- unfortunately the prawns were overcooked and tasteless, we were quite confused with how it didn’t absorb any hint of flavour from the broth
supreme seafood fried rice ($19):
- it’s a good bowl of fried rice, but nothing to shout about!
crab meat omelette ($18):
- the omelette was fluffy and had a good amount of crab eggs
my only gripe is that many of the items were out of stock during our visit on saturday 2pm, but it also goes to show how popular they are!
Place is really a hidden gem. Interior has retro Singapore vibes and menu has the familiar singaporean tzechar dishes but ingredients and tastes are so fine that they really stood out.
Ordered:
Grandma’s Te Kah Bee Hoon - best dish IMO! The wokhey fragrance stood out in the moist bee hoon and braised pork leg is so tender!
Jumbo Kurobuta and Crab Ngoh Hiong - super thick Ngoh Hiong, but if you have too many other dishes to order can do without it
Silky Egg Crispy Hor Fun - first time having crispy hor fun, the hor fun pieces look like prawn crackers and is really special
Ugly Cabbage in Fish Sauce - always love this dish in Chinese restaurants and they did this dish well too
Singaporean Style Chilli Prawns - sauce is good and prawns used are fresh and juicy!
Smoked Cod Otah - super coconut-milky and moist!
Chendol Panna Cotta - chendol green worms on top of pan a cotta with gula melaka
Teochew Orh Nee - average, can do without if you want to order other dishes
Such an amazing local food spread with wonderful signature dishes. Wonderful service from KT! Knowledgeable and friendly.
Here to try out local food with a twist. We had iced Thai tea, grandma’s te kah hee hoon (small), Chef Joel’s mee kia and king kong bak pau. Total damage was about $80 after ++ for 2 pax. King Kong bak pau was easily our favourite!
Quaint restaurant with a retro local theme. Food was quite good overall. Ordered the pig trotters bee hoon, seafood fried rice, hainanese chicken satay some slices pork (jowl or cheek?) dish, and the cabbage. The bee hoon had a smoky wok hei to it, but tastes just a tad too charred. The fried rice was above average, with quite generous chunks of sotong and 2 large fried prawns. The shoved pork was tender and treated quite good. Cabbage had ample wok hei too but too salty to eat by itself. With rice it was better. I especially loved the satay. The chicken chunks are quite large, succulent, and tasted very good - one of the best satays I've had in recent memory. I also had the Thai iced milk tea which was quite good as well. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and location (within Mercure Hotel), but they charge for drinking water (though refillable) and the service was quite good. Ambience was also interesting. It was quite cold though, so pack a sweater. If your drive, there is only limited parking.
Return visit: A close friend hosted us here for a wedding lunch, and all the food items were still good! The chilli prawns are off menu King prawns that's are not available on the menu.
There's plenty of parking space at the hotel and it isn't too expensive. There's free parking between certain timings and I only paid 3 dollars for parking from 7.30pm to 11pm.
I've already tried their other outlet at jalan besar before and was impressed and this outlet managed to impress me yet again. The star of the show is truly the ter kah bee hoon. It is so flavourful and even has wok hei for a braised noodle dish. Simply a must order.
The ugly cabbage is also another must get. Slightly sweet and cooked full of wok hei, you'll regret if you don't try this out. The rest of the dishes were all equally good and I must say there's nothing that I didn't like. Every dish made me go "wow this is good". Service was fast and our first dish arrived within 15 mins of ordering. Definitely will return again.
Very chic vibe, aircon way too cold. Dishes tended to be salty. Ugly cabbage smelled like it had better wokhei than it tasted, was still tasty but too salty. Ter kah beehoon had amazing smokey flavour. Really enjoyed the dish. Satay was awesome, thick succulent chunks and the satay sauce was flavoursome without being spicy. Accompanying achar was so good we finished that first. Char siew was alright, not impressed. Fried rice was above average. Chendol was unique in that base was panna cotta, very pleasant though. Orh nee was alright. Thai iced tea was good. Panda lemongrass meh. Would have given 5 stars but minus one star as they do not serve complimentary water. Parking at either left or right of entrance, short walk to restaurant, restrooms near lobby of hotel. Might come back to try other dishes.
A cozy restaurant with quirky retro interior and tasty Tze Char dishes. Portions are pretty big, great for dining with family or bigger groups of friends. A staff recommended us the spicy la la that was not on the menu, and I highly recommend it! The clams were cooked in a spicy yet fragrant sauce, great with white rice. A big thank you to all the staff on duty that day for making my family dinner really enjoyable :)
Overprice local food. Delicious, yes. But not worth paying so much for. Would definitely deserve more stars if dishes are re-invented or of fusion. Just personal opinion. Fried sotong stood out the most. The rest are pretty much expected. Can try once but won’t revisit. Probably more suitable to bring foreigners/tourist to try our local food in comfort. :)
Good place for dinner with friends or family.
It’s convenient to drive to as there’s underground parking, and the restaurant is just a level above. The restaurant itself is spacious with sufficient air conditioning. There’s a moderately strong food odour but nothing overwhelming. The place gets very noisy especially when you have loud diners as it’s just on overall open area and the restaurant’s structure seems to amplify sounds - not a suitable place for people who want heartfelt discussions without shouting across the table.
The service staff are very nice, observant and attentive. One guy noticed immediately when our tea pot emptied and came over with hot water for a refill. Another guy noticed when we were done with our meal and offered to pack our leftover rice. The dishes and cutlery were cleared promptly but not so quickly that we felt rushed to leave our table.
The dishes were hit and miss.
Dishes we enjoyed: Hainanese Chicken Satay, Supreme Seafood Fried Rice, Chendol Panna Cotta (my favourite)
Dishes that were not too bad: Hainanese Kurobuta Pork Chop, Ugly Cabbage in Fish Sauce, Filial Pie Tee, Silky Egg Seafood Crispy Hor Fun (it got too salty after a while)
Dish that needs improvement: Chef Joel’s XO White Fish Soup - couldn’t figure out whether it’s meant to be salty or sourish; it had an odd combination of flavours.
Price: We paid $179.76 for 3 pax. With those dishes mentioned above and 2 types of tea. Not very worth it but we did enjoy the dining experience overall.
I love the atmosphere and food especially their Sayur Lodeh and pie tee. The strong coconut and curry mix together, it matches well with rice. Pie Tee is very crispy and taste fresh.
food was delicious and served really quickly. loved the interior as well. everything we ordered was good tho the price may be considered steep compared to other places
Cosy restaurant that serves up delicious local delights! We particularly enjoyed the pork trotter bee Hoon and Hainanese pork chops. The service was really quick as well!
Lovely place. Lovely food. Enjoyed myself very much with the comfort food.
Nice place to dine in, but the location is quite challenging to find as it's not near MRT station but walkable distance.
The staff was amicable and helpful when we were there, assisted in introducing the food to us, and letting us know what is good.
The menu is pretty interesting, especially the calendar one! There’s some fun fact about the business as well. Sadly the menus that they provide have no pictures, so you don’t know what you are expecting, but the e-menu that you can has some photos there for you. It would be better if there are photos of the food on the menu.
Ordered the “Sui Bian Set” for two pax, and it was nice and filling! At about my 4th dish, I am already 3/4 full.
My favourite dishes out of the 6 dishes are the appetisers (the satay + prawn parties), pork cheek, and the chili prawn with mantou!
I can't finish the main "Grandma's Te Kah Bee Hoon," but there's a burnt taste in the Bee Hoon, which is surprisingly nice. The end-off dessert that I had was Chendol, its not written down there, so you can say its like “dessert of the day”.
By the way, there are also complimentary drinks for the set.
Bringing a taste of Singapore's rich culinary heritage to your plate. Immerse yourself in local flavors, a delicious journey at this vibrant dining environment.
Came here on a Thursday afternoon with my friend
and chilled/caught up over some great local dishes. The dishes we tried were: Singapore Style Chilli Prawns, Crab Meat Omelette (under Side Dishes), and Chef Joel's Mee Kia (Under Rice and Noodles section). The Mee Kia was my personal favourite! Must try.
Would recommend Enjoy Eating House if you are a local food junkie!
Pretty pricey for the portion, though the food was not bad. Interesting to try once.
Would recommend the mee kia. Can’t remember the name of the dish. Atmosphere was pretty good with interesting posters and deco.
Visited the Mecure at Stevens outlet, and its definitely one of the better modern tze char restaurants I’ve been to! Had a few of their signatures including yu sheng ceviche, barbecued pork cheek, chilli prawns and te kah bee hoon, all of which were well thought out and well executed dishes. It’s quite a feat to be able to balance so many flavours in tze char while putting creative spins on it, so big kudos to the chef and his team. Would totally recommend this place for phase three get togethers!

The food was really good! They gave a generous amount for every dish esp the seafood! The mantou with the chilli prawns is literally heaven 🤤 the location is quite convenient as it’s one bus stop away from Stevens MRT
Had dinner set menu for 2 at Enjoy Eating House Stevens. Food and ambience is good for a nice and comfortable meal. My favourite dish is the prawn in chilli crab sauce.
Ordered chilli prawns with mantou, truffle mee kia, ugly cabbage and Chef Joel's BBQ pork. We were blown away by the flavors of each dish and every bite brought tears of joy to our faces. 10/10 will recommend
This is my 2nd visit to the restaurant. I must say, the LNY menu was rather disappointing this time.
Yusheng - average
pie tee - good
baked chicken - a tat too salty
chestnut pork - tough and too unique for my taste
Baked barramundi - good
Four treasure vegetables - a tat too salty
Taro rice - really good
Orh ni - way too sweet
Air conditioning was non existent, service was inadequate.
Can't say I enjoyed myself.
Food was good, the star of the show being the Ugly Cabbage! We enjoyed the Hainanese satay
which has the accompanying pineapple dip, prawn cake was good indeed .The crispy hor fun- you need to eat it quickly, else crispy bits becomes leathery. The sauce was delicious. Service is brisk, staff a lot friendlier when you speak in Mandarin/Cantonese.
Delicious food! We enjoyed the all of the dishes that we ordered.
My faves were the DIY filial pie tee, Peranakan bakwan kepiting soup, DIY King Kong bak pau, and the crab omelette.
Very flavourful and cooked really well. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was served quite fast.
The homemade drinks were also nice.
Overall on the pricey side but you pay for quality, tasty food.

Love the whole ambience of the place, it has a nostalgic hipster feel.
Food quality is great. The salt baked barramudi is huge! Fried rice was good! Eating experience was pleasant ❤
Thank you for making my mundane Sat night amazing ~
Very flavourful food, bursting with wok hei.
We voted the satay for best dish of the day. The meat was sufficiently tender and the dip was really fragrant.
The ter kah bee hoon really reminded me of tinned pork trotters - childhood comfort food.
I'll definitely visit again (but would try to ask for less salt, since I need to watch my sodium intake haha).
Ordered a few dishes to share with my friend, the white xo fish soup was not particularly eye opening, but wow the tekah beehoon nearly made me cry. The rich wokhei of the beehoon, the flavorful meat and chewy skin and the fabulous chili sauce .. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
For dessert we ordered the popiah garden and chendol pannacotta. Really loved the blue pea pandan lemongrass and the horlicks sea salt gelato, and it was regretful that they don’t sell the icecream for takeaway because I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy a few tubs of each. Really an enjoyable experience, thank you for a wonderful dinner! :)
Looking for Zhi char and found this “upclass” place at Stevens road. Food was unusual and quite nice. Service was good too.
It is a unique dining concept which have lots of vintage stuff and a cosy atmosphere. Food is just nice for sharing and a nice place to chill.
Interesting menu of familiar zhi char dishes with novel ingredients. The tastes were a interesting blend of local and new flavours. Presentation of the dishes was interesting, but not extravagant. An example was the Fish slices in curry sauce (photo) - the fish slices were firm and the curry (Thai influenced?) sauce was delicious.
We ordered the XO White Fish Soup, Pork Jowl and the Crispy Hor Fun. The portions were quite huge and the food delicious. I quite like the XO White Fish Soup as it was flavourful.
A very refreshing, unique taste of local dishes. The singapore style chilli prawns are my personal favourite - highly recommend! XO fish soup was too salty though. location is peaceful and staff are really helpful. overall enjoyed the experience.
Located within Mercury hotel along Stevens road. The pig trotters bee hoon is very good! Moist bee Hoon, soaked up all the goodness from the pig trotters which is a very portion enough for three. Must try.
If you're longing for an adventure in bold, elevated Singaporean flavors set in a charmingly nostalgic 80's ambience, then Enjoy Eating House is your next destination!
From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a delightful touch of retro decor and cute merchandise, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The Cantonese songs in the background add a wonderful vibe to the atmosphere.
Highlights include Chef Joel's BBQ Pork Cheek which was smoky and tender, Singaporean Chili Prawns, and Crispy Fish in aromatic red curry sauce. Don't miss the 'Ugly' Cabbage and the XO White Fish Soup for an umami explosion.
To top it off, their Pandan Lemongrass and Chrysanthemum Luo Han Guo tea provided a refreshing end to a great meal.
Is it local food? Yes. Is it slightly over-priced? Yes. But is it worth it? Yes. Worth coming back again? Yes.
While the dishes are items you can get almost everywhere else in Singapore, the quality and execution was excellent. Furthermore, you can buy retro mugs and other items.
Everything tasted soooo good! Specially loved the fried prawn cake and ugly cabbage! Wouldn't recommend the fish soup as it has this fishy gamey smell and taste. My husband has high tolerance for this kind of gamey taste also wouldn't recommend that dish. Will return to try more dishes!
1 suggestion perhaps is to be less generous with seasoning - most of the dishes we ordered are kinda salty.... (especially the prawn tang hoon 🥵)
I really enjoyed my dinner here, particularly the desserts (If y’all ever decide to sell the gelatos by the pint, please let me know!). The decor was pretty cool and the overall ambience was nice. Would definitely go back again!
An amazing local Singaporean restaurant that nails the classics and then some. Great zi char and nyonya elevated cuisine. Every single dish is great. The keropok is super crispy and delicious too! This Frenchman brought up here loves it very much! Support them!
Really love it. So flavorful and tasty. So yummy and want to eat more.
Highly recommended.
Very pleasant place, free lunch time parking provided by hotel is a big plus. Food was nice and tasty. Cool menu too!
I enjoyed their food a lot, a nice fusion of our local taste with a twist.
chinese restaurant with pretty chill vibes! food mainly consisted seafood & it’s on the pricier side, but good for family gathering :) loved the taro fried rice with iberico & also the har cheong gai!
Food is super nice especially chilli prawns and Te Kah Bee Hoon. Chilli prawns sauce will sure go well with rice. Te Kah Bee Hoon is full of wok hey and the bee hoon has well absorbed their special sauce
First visit.
Food, Drinks & Service did not disappoint.
We used the KRIS Pay voucher.
Staff took time to explain our order.
Dishes were served in the following order.
PRAWN KEROPOK
PERANAKAN BAKWAN KEPITING SOUP
HAINANESE CHICKEN SATAY & CHEF JOEL’S BBQ PORK CHEEK
CRISPY FISH WITH CHEF JOEL’S RED CURRY SAUCE
SILKY EGG SEAFOOD CRISPY HOR FUN
Will definitely return to try their other dishes and GRANDMA’S TE KAH BEE HOON
Great tee kah beehoon
Best pitan tofu
Randomly walk in to this restaurant below our hotel and it’s surprisingly good! Ingredients is fresh! Very delicious local food served. Will revisit! 👍🏻
