Reviews of Estuary Restaurant & Bar - 9 Penang Road
Lovely quiet place for catching up with friends. Food was really good especially the crispy stingray, calamari and the artichokes. The set lunch menu is also very affordable. Will definitely come back. 👍
We ordered 6 dishes, total damage for 3 pax is $230+.
Had high expectations for this as I saw quite a number of good reviews for this restaurant.
6pcs Oysters with 1 glass of champagne($28) - The oysters is plump and fresh, would come back again just for the oysters! 10/10
Truffle Fries ($18) - Normal 7/10
Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallop($29) - tasted damn normal, nothing to rave about, scallop was too salty. 6/10
White clam claypot rice($32) - wokhek taste, not my cup of tea tbh but edible.... 5/10
Sakura Pork Chop($68) - the sauce goes well with the pork chop just that it's kinda fatty? 80% fats 20% lean meat. Wouldn't recommend. 6/10
Tiramisu - it had strong rum taste so it taste surprisingly good! 9/10
We went on a friday night but it was quite quiet, aircon not strong enough hence it was quite warm.
Everything was yummy and service was great! Really enjoyed the brussels sprouts, grilled cabbage and clam claypot rice in particular. Will definitely return to try more dishes!
Very pleasant experience with Estuary seafood restaurant! We tried grilled cabbage, Jerusalem Artichoke, fish and chips, aged fish grilled with rosemary cheese, Caesar salad, sticky date pudding and all were awesome!
Chef cum owner Polo is so passionate explaining dishes and we will go back when we are in Singapore ♥️
First time dining at this restaurant, surely wont be the last. Oysters were so fresh & succulent. Hamachi was mind blowing! Other dishes were just as good. Will be back soon!
First time here at Estuary to try out their omakase menu. The attention to detail was evident in both the presentation and the flavor profiles, with each bite perfectly balanced. Thoroughly enjoyed each dish!
A lot of details and attention is being put into each dish. My photos don't do it enough justice, I highly recommend trying their omakase experience yourself or even their usual menu!
Very tasty food! Everything was excellent and the wine and sake really out of the world. Such a gem! We celebrate my friend birthday and was surprise by a very yummy crispy churros bday! Thank you!
We were hunting for oysters, and though we arrived past happy hour (that ends at 8pm), we still found a nice deal of 6 oysters + glass of prosecco for $28. Happily, the chef’s selection of Japanese oysters was wonderful, with a range of flavours and textures- milky, creamy, briny, with notes of seaweed and melon and all very juicy! The strawberry jam sauce was unique and went down surprisingly well with the oysters. We tried a few of the other signature dishes like the uni toastie, grilled cabbage, Scottish stingray and ikura clam claypot rice. All good! With an unassuming, casual atmosphere, Estuary is an easy place to enjoy special seafood dishes that you won’t find at the average bistro or restaurant.
Had my anniversary here! Food was so good. Had most of the signatures. Will be back for the fat and juicy oysters
Went for some oysters. They had a special deal 28$ for 6 oysters and a glass of prosecco. The oysters were surprisingly great, plump and creamy.
Everything we ordered was amazing. Service was also very good.
The pork chop (for 2) and the steak were cooked to perfection. Even the side dishes like mac n cheese, truffle fries, and the grilled brocoli were outstanding. The rye sourdough bread with the garlic confit was da bomb!
The only dish we didn't like was the Cod Fish Pasta. It was so salty! When we told the service staff, they quickly replaced it.
Highly recommended for casual dining.
I love it here! Oysters were massive and the beef was well cooked!! Highly recommended, come see for yourselves!! Churros were prefect too, love how crunchy it was.
Amazing restaurant with a decent drink menu.
Nothing disappoints in the place.
I will highly recommend the steak picanhas and the claypot live clam rice.
Those 2 are amazing.
Trying out their specialty dishes, Fresh live oysters that’s available for the day. It was plump and juice, and had a robust taste of the sea. Estuary freshly shucks them on the spot!
Recommended! Starter: Hokkaido Bafun Uni (Brioche toast, egg gribiche topped with sea urchin) so unique & delicious!
Must try! Mains: ESTUARY'S SIGNATURE DRY-AGED FISH Japanese Hamachi, 7 days aged serve with Koji cream. This is awesome!
Overall we enjoyed our dining experience at Estuary so much in terms of their premium quality foods and providing top-notch service.
I'll definitely return and would like to try out the other selections.
Located ~10mins walking distance from Orchard MRT station, this restaurant is an ideal location for gathering as it offers an intimate, casual atmosphere, great service and great music.
The dishes that we tried are (ranked in terms of liking):
1) Oysters (Totten Inlet, Sun Seeker & Amelie)
2) Crispy Potato
3) Octopus Tentacle
4) Crispy Stingray
5) Sarawak Charred Claypot Rice
6) Battered Red Emperor Snapper
7) Sakura Pork Chop
8)Lobster Mac & Cheese
In general, the dishes are on the pricey end. And the appetizer/side dishes are more enjoyable and delicious than the main dishes as they often offer an element of surprise. For example, the hot strawberry sauce that accompany the fresh and juicy oysters was quite interesting and unique. The caviar sauce that accompany the potatos tastes so good that I can eat it on its own. The tastes of the stingray and octopus were also so flavorful and unexpected.
Their newly launched dish is their flaky-soft light crispy batter fish & chip. The fish is really fresh and tender. There are 3 different fishes to choose from, ie red snapper, hake and halibut, but make sure you “secure” your choice of fish when placing your reservation. And also the restaurant offers free-flow of fries with this dish.
All the food was very good. Great Substitute for not having traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Staff was quick to get us a baby high chair and kids cutlery for my child, which was much appreciated.
There were plenty of food and drinks options. There's also a 1 for 1 promotion on alcoholic drinks!
The scallop carpaccio was really fresh and the aged fish and chips definitely tasted fresh and sweet with a firm bite - interesting and yummy! The Brussel Sprouts were cooked with XO sauce and their claypot rice was delicious! The Sticky Date Pudding was moist and really good.
Location is conveniently located at Palais and the restaurant was not too noisy. We enjoyed our dinner here.
An excellent meal. Ordered the claypot rice clams and the super value $18.80 lunch specials: chicken thighs, fish & chips and claypot rice pork jowl. The sides: calamari, grilled cabbage and stingray were all good. Ot was the first time for me seeing cabbage cooked this way.
The fish & chips paired with the homemade tartar sauced gave it a very delicious creamy taste. It could probably be one of the best I have eaten. Another favourite is the pork jowl claypot rice which was charred and fragrant, the pork jowls were very tender.
We really enjoyed the Chef's Signature Grilled Cabbage and Crispy Scottish Stingray!
The cabbage is grilled and torched and finished off with garnish and peanut chilli. There's a hint of smokiness on the cabbage that rounded up all the flavours and chilli oil.
As for the stingray, on the first bite, I wouldn't have thought that the glazed karaage-like chunk of meat would be stingray! The stingray had a texture similar to chicken, and that sweet glaze that coated the stingray was rather appetising!
What we had: Crispy Stingray $14, Crispy Potato $16, Big Eye Tuna Tartare $24 Spot Prawn Ceviche $24, Dungeness Crab Kataifi $23, Dry Aged Grouper Fish and Chips $28, Sarawak Charred Claypot Rice $32.
𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙮 𝙎𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙮: Battered stingray nuggets coated with a sweet, spicy fish sauce and crushed peanuts. Portion size was a little small, but this was addictive.
𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙮 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤: Accompanied by seaweed caviar, capers and cod roe taramasalata. Must try!
𝘽𝙞𝙜 𝙀𝙮𝙚 𝙏𝙪𝙣𝙖 𝙏𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙚: No hint of fishiness and you get a juxtaposition of crunchy and firm textures from the tuna, chaat puri and cherry tomatoes.
𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝘾𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚: Fork-tender sweet potato chunks, succulent prawns, extremely crispy prawn heads paired with a refreshing coconut broth. Must try!
𝘿𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝘾𝙧𝙖𝙗 𝙆𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙛𝙞: Filled to the brim with crab meat and topped with cured salted egg yolk shavings (unfortunately we could barely taste this).
𝘿𝙧𝙮 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨: Fish was cooked to perfection and coated in a crisp batter but the fries were overly greasy.
𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙠 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙍𝙞𝙘𝙚: Features ikura and crab meat, with the charred grains adding a smoky flavour to the rice.
Overall, we were impressed by the quality of the food and would return for more!
The team is very friendly and helpful. I really loved their service and ofcourse, all the food we ate were delicious, especially the Fish & Chips.
Great Job team. 👏🏻👏🏻🎉

Right now (March 2024) Estuary is the best kept secret in Singapore. In the heart of Orchard road, yet secluded and with an intimate feel this place offers fantastic food at super reasonable prices. I have been here for date night and brought business partners and everyone has raved about the amazing food. Probably the most value for money in central Singers for their Food, Happy Hour and Oysters….Faster come here!
Comfortable elegant dining space and we enjoyed most of the food served! Favourites were the fish and chips, octopus tentacle and grilled chicken!
Fantastic experience! The seafood was incredibly fresh and flavorful, specifically their calamari which was perfection. The service was attentive and friendly, and the warm, inviting ambiance made for a perfect dining atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch seafood spot!
Great place to chill with great seafoods as company. The grilled octopus served as an excellence appetiser that opened our palate. The Hamachi was deliciously cooked with crispy skin. We also had a complementary Halibut from the chef that brought warm to our heart. Although it seems to have a hint of truffle but too overwhelming. We ended with a bowl of chocolate mousse which reeked of alcohol. The chocolate cake mentioned in their menu online sounded better but wasn’t available in the restaurant menu.
The serving staffs were friendly and professional. Complementary water was available too.
Service and food were great! Chef and waitress were very friendly. It’s not the usual typical menu as the dishes were specially curated. Dried-aged halibut was a hit with us. Oysters were another must-order dish.
I think food is great but staff could do better explaining portion size! The claypot rice suppose to be able to feed 3 but wow the size.. I only got to eat 2-3 small spoonful. Had to order another Starch and waited so long as the staff is clearly shorthanded! Only 1 service crew to take orders for multiple tables! And the food take awhile! Just my honest feedback for those looking to dine here, be prepared to WAIT! I also heard it’s planned for closing soon, so maybe want to give it a try before they close. Oysters now $4/pc for happy hour before 8PM, min order 6. Helps if you can state it somewhere in the menu…
Had the most enjoyable experience at Estuary! They assisted to curate a delicious menu suitable for clients. Including stingray, prawns, beef, squid.. paired with dessert as well! Amy and Chef Gary were extremely accommodating throughout the night. Service was great, food was perfect and me and my guests all left with stomachs full! Definitely would come back!
I had an exceptional dining experience at Estuary, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to try their omakase menu. Each dish was a delightful surprise, showcasing the chef's creativity and skill. I also love their regular menu, especially the chargrilled cabbage, which is a must-try! The combination of flavors and presentation makes every visit a memorable one. Highly recommend!
The oysters were excellent, service attentive and warm, and the food were super delicious. We tried the sourdough bread, cabbage and artichoke. Were brilliantly put together, the food.
I will be going back when oysters season is in full swing.
Amazing food, nice happy hour options, kind staffs, wish to comeback👍
Excellent food!
Both Chef Polo and Chef Gary are most talented. Every dish is well curated, executed and simple awesome! Highly recommended!
Wonderful place for food, drinks and gathering. Chef Polo is a fantastic person, friendly and excellent with his recommendation. This place has a decent stock of whisky as well. Cheers!
Overall a pleasant dining experience. Was rather quiet on a thursday evening, and staff were attentive to our needs.
Started the meal off with some freshly shucked oysters. Particularly loved the kelly gigas and fin de claire oysters, juicy and flavorful with smooth creamy texture.
Highly recommend to try the chef curated degustation menu as well. 7 course dinner with very well planned out dishes, at an affordable price of $88, definitely a value for money. Chef’s signature dry aged fish was really good and tender.
Keep up the good work, will definitely be back again!
We had a fantastic dinner at Estuary. Everything was delicious, great service and wine happy hour!
The place is very nice and comfortable. The boss is also very nice and my bday Celebration here is very awesome! I enjoyed alot over here with the service here. Thank you for the wonderful service!
Delicious food, great vibes! Also to mention the friendly staff at the restaurant! Overall a wonderful experience! Genuinely enjoyed it! :)
Great food, beautiful ambience, really kind staff! The sun seeker oysters were a standout.
A hidden gem at B1 in Palais Renaissance.
Spectacular food, cool atmosphere and reasonable prices.
The best place for Oysters in Singapore.
Newly opened restaurant at the basement of Palais Renaissance. Great seafood dishes! Uni toast was delicious!
Exceptional! Food is a masterpiece, every bite a pure delight. Service is top-notch, making the dining experience unforgettable.
phenomenal food and service. i was here for the bottomless brunch and had a fantastic time. wait staff were super friendly and full of cheer, and the food was amazing! the seafood of course is fantastic, but i really encourage everyone to give their veg dishes a go. good veg dishes are harder to come by and estuary's are incredible. and the fish and chips!! i'm typically not a fan of shoestring fries but these were WOW, and even the tartar sauce was special - more depth than i've ever tasted in a tartar sauce, and just... it's just tartar sauce, but even that was given special attention. Estuary is just amazing. the brunch is really a great idea, as it gives new diners like me a more accessible opportunity to discover Estuary's food. i'll be back for their fish and chips special in 2024 for sure.
Raw Oyster is delicious.
Food was not bad. Dishes were served rather quickly. Cheap alcohol selection.
However I didn’t find the uni on toast ($9 each) to be a hit.
Back here again! Quality of food is consistent. Love the atmosphere and quality drinks!
Love oysters? They have a seasonal selection of oysters...Happy Hour price for the oysters and drinks. Take the escalator down from the entrance.
Amazing pescatarian restaurant influenced by cuisines from all over the world.
Excellent environment & chillout ambience, Restaurant tucked away in a hidden gem along the infamous Orchard Road.
Friendly Service! Great Menu Choices!
The chef also takes time from his busy kitchen to show gratitude. Sharing his knowledge & specifics on his curated dishes.
Highly recommend for the awesome service & well executed dishes.
Would definitely be back for more.
It was an amazing experience.
Food is amazing and all the dishes were consistently good. Service is polite but they were slightly overwhelmed with the orders. Bottomless price is very very worth it. We really enjoyed ourselves here. Thank you.
Food and service were both excellent. Ambience was nice too. Favourite dishes were the battered hake with free-flow fries, and the octopus with harissa sauce and chorizo.
Food is nice but portions are small. So u need to order a lot which makes it even more expensive.
You can taste that they use fresh ingredients as the meats n seafood taste fresh.
Oysters are not too bad but also pricey at $4 a piece.
Fish & chips & sarawak claypot rice are not too bad but I don’t think worth their price tag
I really like the prawn creviche. The sauce really delicious & simile to Tom yum soup paste so really 开胃。they fried the prawn head until crunchy n soft. Super good.
I find the grilled octopus, cabbage, cauliflower, sourdough bread & crab kaitaifa so so only. So can skip those.
Seafood like we've never had before. From fresh oysters to aged fish. Enjoyed every single item that we ordered. Left the place sated. Friendly and attentive staff. Chef Polo came around to update us on the waiting time of our next dish. Special thanks to Zacus, our lighting assistant. Held the lamp as we took pictures of the food. Will come back again coz we need to try the Uni on Toast.
Visited on 15 Aug 2022 and tried their Omakase menu. Dishes were fresh and of high quality - signature crispy skin aged fish is our favourite! Many thanks Chef Polo and team for the top notch service, looking forward to our next visit!
Ordered oysters for entre, spicy cabbage for our legumes, 3 mains . baracuda, dansteak and pork chip sakura…. excellent… highly recommended
excellent food and excellent service
The food here is simply amazing. Not only the seafood but their meats too. A real gem of a restaurant. They change their menu often too so its never boring.
Foods, staff’s services and ambience are good…
Excellent service with good food!
The food here tastes amazing and the staffs are all super friendly and helpful. Will come back.
