Reviews of Food Village Takashimaya
Plenty of interesting finds here. Prices may be more than your usual food court but I think the quality is better and portions are larger. Found an oyster omelette cooked in the ban heng style. Crispy and thin. Impressive. Army style stew for 1 person was also good. Finally found a place that sells it for one person instead of 2. I don’t understand why the other Korean stalls can’t do this. Japanese Beef rice was alright but tasted a bit dry.
It was late at Takashimaya and was not sure what to eat. Didn’t feel like sinning with the fried carrot cake, so ordered the chicken cutlet noodles from Redring Treasures.
The chicken cutlet is a tad salty for my palate. The noodles are the egg noodles that I usually like but this had a certain taste that I didn’t fancy (or perhaps it was the sauce).
I left my plate half eaten. Enough said.
Too many tourists camping there without buying fr the food stalls or continue to use it as a Starbucks even after finishing their meals. I just don’t get it - if they can afford to buy all the branded then y can’t they simply adjourn to a cafe ? N y isn’t Taka sending ppl to monitor the situation? Many real diners need to find a place to eat n they r hogging the place
Slightly more affordable food options here in the orchard area.
Highly recommend the western food store “Western Gourmet”. My second time here during lunchtime and the food is super good. I had the Grilled Chicken Aglio Olio which costs $8.90, pretty decent price!
Plus:
- Each dish is only cooked upon ordering, so everything is hot and yummy!
- Pasta is superrrrr flavorful as they use a lot of garlic in it and they cook in small portions (I believe mine could have been plate by plate).
- Grilled chicken is tender and the skin is crisp!
Minus:
- Longer waiting time during peak hours (I waited 20mins during weekday lunch peak hour), so not recommended if you are in a rush - but the food was gooood
Food Village at Takashimaya has slightly more hits than misses but I think the fried version of Fu Lin Yong Tau Foo falls just in between. It’s neither an outstanding dish, but it’s not terrible.
The ingredients are fried well and retains its crisp and crunch even after a while. The consistency of the gravy is also rather smooth and undiluted. However, the gravy could definitely do with a little bit more flavour and depth, including more minced meat. Nevertheless, given its unique proposition (fried YTF is hard to find!), I will consider eating it again if I have a strong craving for it.
This place is always crowded, i tried the hongkong roast stall, it’s good. It’s just too expensive compared to the other place. If they offer you to add extra veggies or egg, just say no if you don’t want, bcos it’s not included and they will give you extra charge for that.
Hawker delights at one of the best at the famous luxurious shopping belt of Orchard Road among luxurious hotels resorts shopping restaurants in Takashimaya at discounted prices with spacious lounge clean tidy aircond relaxing atmosphere. The malay nasi padang stall serves amazing malay dishes. One of the best beef rendang had in Singapore. Friendly staff
Korean food here is legit and super good! $13 for this set. Makes me wonder if i really need to pay 5x of the bill for bbq in a restaurant next time 🙈
It's a nice food court, with different kind of dishes. Like thai, Chinese, american ....
We tried the thai green curry and the truffle burger.
Great foods in here after strolling around for shoppin, but the place is too crowded during lunch and dinner time. It will be a bit hard for you to get space during that time. Don't forget to bring your own tissue. I always love to eat laksa here.. price is so so and not expensive.
The Guo Tie has interesting flavors such as Kimchi.
A little pricey for a food court setting, but with the variety of food, I had a good time 😊.
Many different kind of food here at food village. The one below is Hongkong food and it’s really delicious. Priced at roughly $10 with a drink set. Highly recommended.
There is bubble tea shop call xingfutang also here.
The Korean stall spicy beef is so tough to chew, on the other hand the pork was good. Please improve!
Prices here overall on the high side, even comparing it with other food courts. Looks like they need the tourists back at full force ASAP!
Here will be very packed during lunch and dinner hour. Please be ready your tissue or any representative item to “book” your place so when you can buy the food in peace.
Loved the curry rice. The set comes with drinks and it is worth it. Portion is big and absolutely tasty.
Got there on a Saturday 4:30 for a light meal/snack. Can’t say for the other stalls, but the white beehoon stall and the beancurd desert and bbt drinks stall were good. The beehoon sauce was yummy, not too salty or oily- just right. I had the soft shell crab too, but sadly that was just average, not very flavourful but crispy enough that I ate it.
The beancurd dessert was surprisingly not too sweet, I found desserts in Singapore, especially Asian type desserts tend to be on the sweet side, but this stall was just my preference. Best part, it was only $3 for a small with various toppings. I also had the Earl Gray bbt tea there, I asked for less sweet as suggested and it was perfect.
Food court was clean, place didn’t look runned down. Crowd was a respectable one , not rowdy like some the other ones I’ve seen.
Xing Fu Tang Boba Milk taste better than Tiger Sugar, how about you?
The Food Village has many Japanese snack shops. Many sweet and savoury treats. Good for tourists to come buy a meal or some treats back.
Occasionally, there will be some Japanese or Taiwanese food roadshow.
A whole lot of different foods to select.
Food is not nice. Bought pineapple fried rice, tom yum and veg rice.
Edit: the western’s aglio olio is delicious, I will definitely buy it again
A good range of food but it isn't that cheap by local standards even considering this is a food court. It also gets really crowded so getting a seat can be tough. But the food quality is quite decent across all the stalls and you can even buy from some of the surrounding shops in Taka such as Teppei takeaway. Definitely a superior food court if you can find a seat
Homemade tomyam noodles + roast duck rice
Awesome
Become too pricey from previous years
Beware pricing at the Nasi Padang stall. Appears very arbitrary. One main two veggies is $4.50 but if you order sardine and 2 veggies, it is $5! I asked the white-haired auntie at cashier why I was charged extra and she said sardine was not a main but an a la carte so they charge 50 cents more. To my comment that sardines from a can are cheap, she said sometimes there are only 2 in a can!
To her credit, she willingly changed my sardine to a "main" of chillied chicken but left me mind-boggled as to their pricing methods.
takeaway spicy beef soup. big portion. wide variety of vegetables, mushrooms in the soup. lots of shredded beef. value for money at only 12$. highly recommend!;
My favourite snacks hall. Crowded. Bustling. And absolutely divine. The variety is unrivalled. So is the service. And .... no smelly clothes or hair afterwards.
Off the counter food if the highest quality. Royce. Bee Chun Hiang (bbq pork of the finest kind). Japanese snacks direct from Japan (this week). And the widest range of Singapore cooked snacks. Seek out the almost extinct muah chee. Popiah. A1 curry puffs. And don't forget Four Leaves bread.
My heart jumps at the sight of the food alley. Not the local side. The other end where regional snacks and chocolates are.
But. But. But .... try to avoid lunchtime and weekends if you want do sitdown meals. Alternatively, do what I did, buy from counters and eat on the go
Very crowded all the time and difficult to get seats. Its clean and they have a good variety of food avaible. Almost all the food here is delicious and you can choose from malay to indian a, chinese or japanese cuisine.
Wide varieties of food. But very crowded even on weekdays. I hope they can expand more seats! Love the pepper lunch here and the bubble tea :-)
It is at Orchard Road in Ngee Ann City, Takashimaya B2 Food Court called "Food Village". There is a Cutlet Speciality Stall selling delicious cutlets. Ask for their Signature "Special Redring Treasures). Worth it and delicious. Their Chicken Cutlet crispy, tender and juicy. Currently on offer. 👍
Good selection of Singaporean food and other south east Asian dishes
We tried the Timing Bahru prawn noodles
Portion was small but the soup was really delicious.
Always busy and clean. Hard to get seat at meal times. Some stall have been around for a long time. Overall good food.
Crowded on weekends, difficult to get seats. Food mostly local fare like most food courts in Singapore. A couple of stalls stand out, like the Nasi Padang and Pepper Lunch
Togi Korean grilled pork tastes best when wrapped in lettuce and accompanied with kimchi and garlic in gochujang. Price at SGD13
All wide spread of Asean delicacies available. Only challenge is findin a seat if u're in a family of more than 3 durin weekday lunch hour...
This is a great experience. Fabulous Asian delicacies on offer and very well stocked supermarket. It is just so expensive.
Great place to find reasonably priced food. Lots of variety. Can be hard to get a table on weekends.
Lot of variety in food and beverage can be found here. Seat can be difficult to "Chop" during common dining period
Decent range of stalls and food... not too pricey for Orchard Road, often crowded.
Great varieties of food items like one roof. Reasonable prices
Just an awesome place to shop and eat. Super clean and great food court
Nice selection of food.
Good local food though very noisy atmosphere.
There's variety of food. Only difficult to find seats during lunch hour.
Good variety of food. Very crowded on a Sunday.
Very crowded hard to find a place to sit, the foods are reasonably.
Food court always crowded during dinner time, especially on weekends
Always full, not only lunch or dinner time..
Good place for quick eat
Back to the old days when am in my 15s
Alot of variety of food
Lots of delicious Singaporean and international food
I love it, too many people and so there are no tables but the place is incredible!
The food is complete and many are unique, mostly from Japan, the prices are slightly above standard
There are quite a variety of restaurants, but
The price is high compared to the quality.
