Reviews of Green on Earth Vegetarian Cafe @ The Rail Mall
Best veg mala in SG!!! Always worth the time travelling down :) must try the “fish” and lime juice w plum too. Not to mention the shark fin soup taste different too!
The food is extremely good. We had hotpot mild spicy. Everything is just right.
It can be quite crowded.
Cedar root fried rice and hokkien mee here is delicious! Very tasty and fragrant.
Hor fun has good wok hei, maybe a tad salty for some but ok for me.
The laksa also not bad, creamy and tasty, but may be spicy for some.
Also ordered their mala xiang guo. Their zhong la (medium spicy) here is like other places' da la (big spicy), so suggest to take it down one notch when u order.
Will come back to try their oatmeal tofu, lei cha and udon next time.
We traveled from orchard all the way here because it’s one of the few vegetarian ma la xiang guo around.
Food: 5 stars! The best was the ma la hot pot. We did minimal spicy for the ma la hot pot which still numbed our tongues a bit. We also tried the four treasures which I would recommend passing on, very blah. We also tried yam ring monkey head mushroom which was delicious, the yam was fried perfectly
Service : non existent lol. It’s more of a self serve place. For ma la hot pot, there’s a fridge display where you pick out all the ingredients you want before they take it to the back to prepare. The cashier was not friendly but she was tolerant of our lack of understanding on how their operation works. Some staff bring out the food and that’s about all the service there is
Delicious vegetarian 🌱 food especially Mala hotpot is my favourite ❤️ must try!
Just had a fantastic meal at Green On Earth, renowned for its Mala dishes! 🌶️ Their vegetarian options are vibrant and packed with flavour. The spicy Mala sauce was perfectly balanced, and the variety of dishes ensured there was something for everyone. Highly recommend this place for a delicious and memorable dining experience! 🍜✨
the ma la is nice, but expensive. Also, medium was way too spicy but light spicy barely has any kick.
Mee rebus was also unique and healthier than usual.
However I would avoid the organic soy milk - its made from powder in a packet!!! And they charge you $5 for it!
The tofu cabbage dumplings also look and taste uncannily like the frozen ones I can get from scarlett.......
Very spacious clean big bright!
Mala is their specialtyy!!
Sooo soo guudddd ugh 😭👊
They serve very good vegetarian cuisines with wide varieties of vegetarian dishes to choose from. The restaurant is clean and cozy, but the only downside is the limited parking lots. We tried their Mala Xiang Guo, Oatmeal Mushrooms and Butter Cream Lotus Roots and we love them all as they were flavourful and tasty! Will definitely visit again to try other dishes :)
Wasn’t expecting much from a random restaurant in the rail mall but this place blew us away! Cereal cauliflower hit a sweet spot of sweet, spicy, savoury and super crispy. Yang zhou fried rice had so much wok hei and we didn’t miss the meat at all. Mantou was perfect. I’d only skip the mala xiangguo next time, which was just ok and cost much more than everything else on the very affordable menu. Also incredibly fast service - food came out piping hot in 5 mins. Will be back!
Been here couple of times. We found it when looking for a vegetarian restaurant to eat after our walk at Chestnut Nature Park. We tried several dishes and were super satisfied. Excellent service too! And the ambience was good. Will definitely go back and try other dishes❣😃
Dish recommended: Mala King abalone Mushroom(cold dish) and shark fin soup.
Hor fun too salty.
Recently visited this vegetarian restaurant and it was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, delicious and well-textured. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, ensuring there's something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned vegetarian or just trying it out. The atmosphere is a perfect spot for both large group gatherings or small company. If you're looking for a place that serves delicious and affordable vegetarian food in a great setting, this is a must-try!
One of the best vegetarian restaurants we’ve had. The mala is sooo good with a lot of variety. We also had the mee goreng, so flavourful. We also ordered the coconut pudding which filled with coconut jelly, very very nice end to the meal.
Additionally, the ambience was good and the restaurant was very clean. We will definitely be back.
Mala xiang guo is not bad, but price wise is a bit expensive for vege only dish. Oatmeal fried toufu is nice, herbal soup is tasty too.
#386 Upper Bukit Timah Road
Green on Earth Vegetarian Resturant .. Sichuan Mala Braised Veggie Fish $48.00. Such a pretty dish! So happy have this now! Yay! This dish is yummy! It is not the mock fish sort… it’s made of beancurd skin sort. I also like the Mala sauce. Those that love Mala must try👍🏻
The restaurant is very clean and cosy.
Vegs selection looks fresh.
Mala tasted like what you would expect but this one has a stronger numb feeling as compared to other restaurants. Prefer the non numb version so wouldn't recommend this store as much.
Ordered medium spicy but it wasn't spicy at all, can go higher level if you love spicy.
Unforgettable meal from this restaurant. Everything is spot on!!! Using sugar cane to act as the bones of pork ribs is innovative!!! Chewing sugar cane is not common here in Sg and now you can try this after finishing the "meat". Yummy~~
1st visit to Green on Earth at Rail Mall since they moved from Phoenix Road.
Tried they Mala XiangGuo, impressed with their widw variety of items available for the xiang guo.
Ordered their Hokkien Mee, must say totally overwhelmed by the "wok hey" of this dish. Very flavourful!
Perhaps it's the location of the restaurant, last unit along the stretch of shops. Hence visited by regulars and not much walk-ins. People tend to miss this shop unit.
Will definitely be back again to try their other dishes.
Quality food, nice ambience. Do try out their mala and fried rice! However, note that the minimum price for mala is $10, which is barely enough for a person. You can request 小小辣 (minimum spiciness) if it is your first time trying mala!
I'm surprised with their dishes, variety of special dishes that you can't find in others vegetarian restaurant.
The dishes we ordered are beyond my expectation, especially for their cumin meat and sambal petai fried rice.
Scrumptious and delicious food.
The location of this restaurant is very good. The ambience is lively and cozy. We visited this place for lunch and ordered a hot pot (less spicy), yuzu jelly, mushroom udon noodles (my personal favourite), beancurd and tomato soup and fried beancurd. The beancurd was moist and fresh. The soup was tangy and hot. The udon noodles were thick, slurpy and soupy. It was a silky and luscious dream.
They adjust the flavour of spiciness, chilli and oil upon your request. They are incredibly flexible.
Overall, a great restaurant.
Best Mala in SG! Hands down as we love the lion mane mushroom soaks up the sauce perfectly. Todays spice and saltiness was shiok for us sometimes it’s a lil more mellow at Xiao la but always good
Malaxiangua always all
Time favourite
loved the mapo tofu, other dishes were slightly too sweet. Loved the unique dishes as well as nice spacious setting of the restaurant. Also affordably priced, would come back to try the other dishes!
Been only twice. Each visit I tried different dishes. And each one tasted very good. It can be very packed during lunch time. The staff is also friendly and helpful
While I actually love their mala, the taste is not consistent every time I go there. Sometimes it’s really good, sometimes it’s pretty bland. Yesterday was one such day where it was actually bland.
Overall experience is good.... No need to wait to long to serve. Well done! Will definitely come again.
The best vegetarian mala in Singapore
The chi char also delicious. I like their white hokkien noodles !
I love the dry hor fun, it taste good even though it is vegetarian. The service I experienced a few times I have been here has been pleasant. Even though it is vegetarian, I think meat eater such as myself can also enjoy the food here
Taste not right
The Petai fried rice was oily
Si Chuan Chili Chicken was too mock tasted
Hotplate Beancurd was way too sweet
Pricey
$18 for Hotplate Beancurd
$15 for mock chili chicken
I love their Mala Xiang Guo very much. It's a must to order Mlxg when come to this place. I ordered 大辣 and enjoy the spicyness 😍😋
Taste: nice
Price $$-$$$
Service: the young lady can't even say you're welcome, just go away after we said thank u twice. So impolite
The atmosphere is calm, comfortable and very pleasant.
The service is fast, don’t expect any smiles from the staff but they are always polite and understanding.
I’ve been coming here for close to 5 years from when they were near Bukit Panjang. Will always keep coming here for the delicious food and I’m not even vegetarian.
It was delicious food and the atmosphere was relaxing. I recommend this place for sure!
We had lunches delivered to a school trip. Every step of the process was smooth and easy. I wish I could post a pucture but it was eaten too quickly. Everyone loved it!
$27.30 for Mala, 1 bowl of rice, and 2 drinks
Even not much appetite to eat due to the humid hot weather... once you had the 1st bite, will finished up the food.
Great place, nice ambience at night for gathering, amazing vegetarian food!
Wholesome vegetarian dinner.
Good food. Good service.
Delicious.
Mushroom udon soup is a unique blend between Western and Asian. Nice ambience at night.
Nice environment and service, but food was so so and rather pricey.
My favorite vegetarian food. I like the mala Xiang guo, olive fried rice, cedar shoot fried rice, noodle soup. Mostly frangrance and delicious. You will enjoy 😊 Thanks for sharing the great food for us.
Food is delicious in general but a few things which are disappointing:
1. Take away portion is relatively small as compared to when u dine in
2. Portion also inconsistent for takeaways, sometimes smaller than dine in and sometimes worse even smaller
3. The food is inconsistent eg. Mee goreng; one time it was the Chinese style black brown type of Mee goreng, other times is red Malay type?
In general
Price is not cheap here so expect consistency in portions match the dine in and way of cooking the food. Please reduce salt and MSG - too high.
Comforting giant bowl of mala Xiang Guo on rainy days are the best 🥰 some all time favourites are their Braised pork rice bowl, cumin pork ribs, sweet & sour eggplant, double paste fish and double boiled herbal soup. Place is usually packed on weekends, so do make reservations in advance 👍🏻
Really good food and great service crew! Will definitely go again with friends!
More accurate will be 3.5 stars. 1st visit tried black vinegar pot. Was alright. 2nd visit tried the small spiciness Mala hot pot and kway chap and it was disappointing, especially with the Mala hot pot considering the price. Paid about $22 for 2 pax just for the Mala. The good reviews about it are overrated in my opinion.
It was too bland and when I requested to add spiciness, the kitchen refused to do anything about it. Only offered additional normal chili on the side. The lady boss was nice to offer refund tho but I did not take it. Resorted to packet the Mala and go back add Mala seasoning myself. The kwap chap lack the herby taste. Overall nice environment and good service.
Food is good, price for 2 is around Sgd30
Tried their mala Xiang guo at medium spiciness and it was really good. Had the spicy kick as well as the numbness 😋 my only complain is that it is really expensive for one person. It cost me 13.80 and I took 5 ingredients.
They also serve other vegetarian food as well that doesn’t cost as much.
We have our family members birthday celebration in the restaurant… Staff is very thoughtful and played a birthday song without our request… Food is super nice especially the cumin pork ribs, we are too hungry eat all the food without taking any pictures… 😆😆😆 Super customer service & good ambience…
Awesome food always never fail to deliver to expectations over the years . It’s always the best vegetarian choice in the Panjang area. Keep up the awesome work !! Will continue to support when I am in the area !
We ordered the alacarte mushroom udon, Yangzhou fried rice , hokkien mee and Thai toufu. All are amazingly tasty. Some might comment it a bit pricey but the portion is definitely huge and this is a restaurant hence can't compared to hawker or food court vegetarian stall. Will definitely come visit them more frequently. With decent crowd of 10 tables, they still serve promptly within 10 mins.
They serve Tze Char here along with Mala. I tried their mala and it was pretty damn good, the 'ma' aspect is on point! Mala was about $30 forb4 people. Their pink guava slushie ($3) is awesome too! Would come back again
Visited this place on a Sunday evening. The place was crowded and service was a bit slow. Sufficient portion size and flavourful food. Would like to visit the place again to try other food items.
Delicious vegetarian food, great ambience for catching up.
Curious place. Outdoor seating in rustic, but covered setting. Pretty charming in terms of looks and feels, overall. With Christmas/fairy lights, to boot, and little loopING birdies in the fore/background* (how did the restaurant do it? ... _|_ _|_ ). Wide variety of vegetarian food, including the mala xiang guo (fragrant hotpot). Mushroom soup is delicious, might appeal to both Chinese and Western palates. Next to an Indian restaurant, so you can always choose between the two cuisines. Food delivery- preparation is fast, but the mala xiang guo is kinda ex. Cafe tzechar restaurant mala Chinese vegetarian -- all-in-one. Been here multiple times.
*Go along Phoenix Road at night, and you won't miss the blazing bright green signage in script. Photos not going to work here. Maybe just eat, admire and leave?
Lovely ambience, tasty vegetarian food available at different portion price. Small portion still good for 2 as you can order 2 different varieties.. definitely will visit..there's so many options to get confused what to order..polite staff...
Very nice vegetarian food. Serves fast!!
Believe it or not, it is that good that my family and I visit it weekly...
Solid mala
Green on Earth is a very good family restaurant for vegetarian food with delicious spicies and service. Its costs $10 to $25 dollars the most. The food is so delicious as well as the service.
Love the Mala and the Butter cream mushrooms :) both are not too oily and jelak and it is good to go vegetarian once in a while
Good experience having a dinner with family. Quality of food is good. I bet non vegetarians will love it after trying too
Many creative dishes that you cannot find at other vegetarian stalls and restaurants. The foods tasted great!!! Staff are friendly. The environment is nice peaceful.
Food was delicious and worth the price. Mala was spicy, no joke
looking for Vegetarian 嘛辣香锅? feel free to visit Green On Earth.
Nice food however not very pocket friendly.
Great quality food and very kind staff. Not the cheapest around, but completely worth it.
Keep up the good work!
So far the best place for vegetarian mala, but it's quite pricy at $3 per 100g, rice $1 per bowl and 1can drinks for $1.50
The Mala Xiang Guo is worth the buy. The hokkien mee is not bad.
Nice Vegetarian food. Staff friendly. Spacious.
Great vegetarian restaurant.
Food was nice. Decent price. Good service.
Good mala fragrant pot. Never fail us
Ambient and food is great, but a bit pricey.
Best place for vegetarian Mala!
Great food good location and environment.
Good vegetarian mala
