Reviews of Ho Yun (Hong Kong) Sunrise
Century egg pork porridge was tasty, not too salty. Texture is on the thick side which I prefer. Love the added crispy crackers on top!
Har Gow was good too. Big prawn inside. My favourite out of the 3 items I tried.
The prawn chee cheong fun was alright. Texture is thicker so it's pretty filling. Portion was decent for $3.
Though the price had increased. But what I can see the food quality is also become better. Not every item is impressive, but the Siew Mai (3pc@$3,with mushroom n shrimp inside) and Fried shrimp dumpling (4pc@$3.8,they changed to use larger shrimp after price increased) is good. Don't expect too much for a neighborhood dimsum, It can be an good alternative for your breakfast ~
Went at 12noon and most items sold out. Had century egg porridge which was good. The deep fried pawn dumpling very crispy and prawn very fresh. The fried spring roll so so as the skin was too thick. Too bad could not try the har kow, siew mai, chee cheong fun and char siew pau . Will revisit again to try other items.
The century egg porridge was prepared with salted eggs and salt-seasoned lean pork. Good to reduce "heat" in the body. That was certainly a good Cantonese fair. However a slightly watery porridge would raise the present "thick"profile to be more palatable. The siew mai I had could be better with less salt.
I really like this shop. Dim sum is authentic- not top notch and the chef is very honest that at this price he is not able to use top notch ingredients but he handmade everything not from some factory nor central kitchen. I admire establishment like this
Very nice Hong Kong dim sum from a HK cook. Especially good is their cheong fun made on the spot. Been their customer for 20 yrs.
Hit and miss, porridge and carrot cake are decent. Rest of it are your usual coffeeshop dim sum standard.
I don’t understand the negative reviews by contributors if you don’t comprehend HK styled dimsums
It’s like nailing a coffin with someone alive inside because you not well traveled ?
lol!
Good stuff - charsiew pau n lotus leaf glutinous rice. Reasonable price but lady boss is rather impatient!
A coffee shop Tim sum stall but the price is slightly costly for the quality of products.
