Food: food overall was okay. Salted egg ribs didn’t have the typical stronger salted egg flavor. Kway teow could use more wok hei. Fish soup was a bit bland so we asked for white pepper. Veggies were good though. As a Cantonese person I can say it wasn’t Cantonese but more Singaporean Chinese food.
Service/atmosphere: quick but staff was really aggressively cleaning the restaurant while we were eating. Taking trash bins through the middle of restaurant and strong bleach smell was in the air.
Due to construction, its abit difficult to find. Being to a few HK St Restaurant but this particular outlet at Novena is really good.
Deep fried fish - overly deep fried till I cant get the "meat", most of it r the crisp.
Coffee Pork Ribs - juicy, sweet, w a punch of coffee taste n yet u not too dry meat😙
Sum Lor Hor Fun - we ordered a small plate for 4 to share, the wok hey taste was very strong.
great zhi char food.
assam fish head is very nice. the paste is homemade.
xo beehoon fish soup’s soup is refillable.
fried prawn roll is crispy and lots of fillings.
Love the soup base and the fish meat is fresh.
Chinese wine is added and tasted so good.

Better than average family restaurant. This restaurant has been around for more than 20 years. It is famous for their San Lau Hor fan. Assam Fish Head is good. This restaurant is worth trying.
Delicious! Black Bean Beef Hor Fun is a must try.
Old school feel with good tze char. Tried their coffee pork ribs, prawn paste chicken and san Lou horfun with very distinct wok hei. Love all the dishes and will be back to try the rest!
(I was secretly having food envy at my neighbour's salted egg crab. The aroma was soooo enticing! Next time!)
Not a bad fried rice, old style restaurant, will eat more of their other dishes
Cai poh tofu so good. Salted fish fried rice was yummy too. They are generous with the salted fish. So flavourful
We were taken here by locals and enjoyed the food and flavours. The coffee porkbribs and fish paste chicken wings were something different and delicious.
Fish soup beehoon is the best here! It's comfort food for us and the chunky fish meat and broth (add milk for the rich white broth) is well worth the money! Ask for the fried fish version and you will not regret.
Back visiting this place after probably more than decades, meanwhile I did visited other HKSRs n felt that their foods standard, services n atmospheres as times goes by, were slowly slacking n of course I went for other alternatives!!!
My daugther suggested we have dinner at HKSR Novena garden,so off we went.
It was wonderful! The sum lor horfun, well fried, was out of this world, so as the rest of dishes we ordered. As for their services n atmosphere, required a little improvement.
Typical zichar dishes. Nothing impressive but nothing disappointing as well. We just went ahead with the chef-recommended dishes. Portions are generous.
Good dining place for families. Interior decor has recently been remodeled. Cooking as good as always!
Family run Hong Kong restuarant. It is nice.
Food quality is consistently good. Home style cooking and festive food, all available. Good for daily meals and family celebrations.
Parking at the IRAS building next door is plentiful. I have changed to parking in their basement due to all the roadworks. Drive slowly and Look carefully for Novena Gardens entrance to car park. Easy to miss.
Hong Kong street family restaurant serves the best stir fried beef hor fun in Singapore! The dish comes with a generous amount of beef!
Good value -for-money food. Flavourful food with reasonable portion. I believe they add very little or no msg. Good and prompt service, all service staff are very attentive.
I used to come here often when I was living around that area. Years after, I managed to visit once more and I’m impressed that the quality is still there! The sum lor hor fun is a must for it has impeccable ‘wok hei’. I also thoroughly enjoy their fish soup bee hoon with milk. Service was also very attentive.
I visited this shop many times. Chili Crab was good. But the price is random. I hope to know the average price in these days, to recommend to my friend
Nice food. Reasonable price
Service was great. Food isn't the best but is really affordable zi char! $6 for a small serving of sliced fish beehoon but had plenty of fish slices and noodles enough for for two =)
A decent place for a sit down meal. Food was quite good, particularly the ribs. It was rather crowded during dinner time and as such, noisy and the orders mistaken.
It serves one of the best prawn paste fried chicken from a zhi char shop. Crowds can be sporadic, some weekends can be crazy and some not. Wok Hei is superb on the fried rice, hor fun and noodles. Curry fish head is also a winner, but be prepared to wait around 30 mins for it to be served.
Waitress can't speak English. Prawn cereal is nice. The sliced fish hor fun is just normal. Overall nothing special aside that the place has aircon and toilet.
Ideal place to taste different types of foods. Bit busy at night time. Authentic taste and good portion size.
Great place for Chinese/Cantonese food. When you enter a restaurant that's simply decorated and unassuming, you know the focus is on the food. Get the bittergourd soup, sum lor hor fun, har cheong kai, coffee pork ribs, tofu with mince meat. All good. Prices also friendly. Will keep coming back. Lots of families come here.
One of my favorite places for Chinese food. Prawn paste chicken is one of the best dishes. It can get a bit crowded, be sure to make table reservations if you come in a big group.
The 3-stars dishes on the menu are indeed tasty. But the prices are steep for tze char considering the portion size.
My family and I come here very often, usually on Sundays for lunch. It's not that crowded most of the time, unless it's holidays or etc. Would recommend as the food is really good - My favourite are the chicken wings!
Never failed to have a good hearty meal. I would recommend anyday if you're in search of a true good and no-nonsense singaporean chinese food.
Never had a meal here that disappoints. Highly recommend their prawn paste chicken wing. My Cousin lovingly calls it the magic chicken.
It's my first time ordering take away. Amazing service as they serve me barley drink while waiting for my food.
Totally impress
Gotta try the Hor Fun (Item #14.4)
Reasonably priced and a good variety for chinese tze char dishes. Will come again if in the area !
Reasonable price and delicious food. One of the best chinese food in my list in Singapore! Their service is good as well.."mou dak deng ar"!
Tasty foods served here.
Generally good food. Their fish bee hoon and coffee pork ribs are good. However can get very crowded and long waits on weekends.
The food here is okay. A little pricey but it is because of the location. Order the san Lou hor fun or fried rice.
Super nice chinese food. Asam fish is very good
Visit regularly. Good food, reasonable prices. Always full house. Advance reservation will be necessary
Value for ur money . The set menu is price reasonably . Casual dinning with good food.🍻
XO fish bee hoon has a great broth, and coffee pork ribs were really fragrant too.
One of the few surviving restaurants of Novena Ville from the older days. Down to earth menu and dishes with 'wokhei' quality.
Good lunch place, great fish soup etc. Althought a lil crowded on weekdays!
Love their beef horfun and prawn paste chicken wings..a must try!!👏👏
Excellent service & food. Keep your price fair & we will support you.
Service waa good. Food okay...will come bk again.
Air con restaurant. Food great. Service good. 👍
Tasty tze char... You can't go wrong. 三捞hor fun, prawn paste chicken, cereal prawn...
Good price. Nice tasty food. Good service.
Tasty at reasonable price.
Beautiful craps!
I was able to eat a lot of delicious food at a reasonable price.
Everything here is so tasty, but their prawn sauce chicken shrimp sauce chicken is superior.
honorable mentions: beef horfun, long beans French beans, radish tofu and the fish head noodle fish head rice noodles
The fried rice and kwetiaw with fish are delicious
The waiters are enthusiastic and caring, and the food is delicious
It's cheap and delicious. It's difficult if you can't speak English. There are many local customers.
Good, tastes good and affordable
