Reviews of 极鲜 Ji Xian Seafood & Hong Kong Dim Sum Express
After walking around in Kallang Wave mall, we decided on this place for dim sum.
Everything we ordered was served hot to our liking.
We ordered Siu Mai, steam bbq pork bun, mini egg tart, fried shrimp dumpling, crispy puff with pork, fried durian, steam ricesheet with bbq pork and stir fried ee fu noodles. I personally like to crispy puff with pork in the shape of a pear. Its skin is chewy.
The total bill was around $60.
This place serves seafood as well. Will try them next time.
Upon entering, the seafood display sets the tone for a true seafood experience at this restaurant. While also offering limited Dim Sum options, the dishes are surprisingly tasty and won't break the bank.
The fried noodles outshine the fried rice, both enjoyable nonetheless. Fresh seafood is a highlight, with reasonable prices compared to other seafood establishments. Service may be a bit stretched thin at times, but the quality compensates.
The Bamboom Clams at $9.90 each are a standout – huge, fresh, and impeccably cooked with garlic and rice noodles.
The Hairy Crab, deshelled upon request, offers a convenient and tasty experience, although the $68 price tag might be steep for some.
The Boston Lobster, originally baked with cheese, transforms with my request to be cooked with minced garlic and vermicelli – a must-try modification.
While it may not be perfect, this spot is an excellent choice for a satisfying lunch or special occasions in the area. The fresh seafood and surprising twists make it a memorable dining experience.
The interesting things about this restaurant are that they have their own unique twist on the tastes of certain dishes, they have some really exotic seafood like empurau fish (most likely farmed though) and cold water crabs and for quite a few of these, their prices are competitive. Of the dim sum dishes we tried, the taste was standard/classic…enjoyable.
Service was a bit lacklustre except for the one waitress who took our order. Her friendly, helpful demeanour made up for the rest.
Decent affordable dim sum in a seafood restaurant. Didn't know it exist after coming here so often. Siew Mai 3pcs for $5.40++. Good size. What's rare here is the fried durian ($3.50), it's not as good as the JB ones but still pretty tasty. Only thing was wished the chee cheong fun needs more char siew inside. Will come again!
Live seafood Cantonese cuisine good standards!
The Australian lobster on offer @$118 is a catch for its size !
Live mantis Shrimps of various sizes available.
Bamboo clams 1 for 1 offer too.
Varieties of dim sum that we will try next time with a bigger group.
Don't expect too much on the service.
Unfortunately didn't quite like the ethics of the operator on my subsequent visits. Most of the items we had before have been 'ungraded' and 'grown' in size. $118 lobsters no available stocks but they have the bigger ones at $148, $168 etc. Same for most of the other seafood. Better off to take down those offers (which they have now
Seats a bit squeeze. Food taste is good Cantonese style. Serving seem to have shrunk. Service wise is still good. Helps if you know Cantonese.atmosphere old school type of restaurant. But highly recommended for Cantonese food. Good and nice dim sum too.
My canteen. Best dim sum that are traditional. Best value seafood restaurant. Avoid the oysters and botan ebi. The preying mantis prawn may seem expensive until you ordered it some place else. The live Korean white eel definitely better than the Jurassic size one I had later for dinner; see review on Daniu.
Again tonight, still as yummy and good value.
Just had lunch and had rice and steam prawns, vegetables with pork lard but on the side. The rest are the usual suspects. Some one told me the old HK Chef left but food so far so good.
The seafood restaurant serves the seafood in Hong Kong style. The steam fish is cooked just nice, meat still soft without overcook. The lobster sushimi is awesome. The dim sum is also good value. However, they need to hire more staff as the restaurant is always full house.
Visited 3 times and the standard of dim sum is good and consistent. The siew mai, mango prawn, black sesame balls and durian are excellent.
Alaska king crab is reasonable for the quality. Geoduck I wasn't impressed. Soon Hock is a steal. Wantan Hor is fantastic! Boston lobster I chose the wrong style of cooking (ginger and shallot), otherwise the lobster was tender and fresh.
Service is good, yet the service charge is 5%.
Tried this place for dim sum. Although this place signature seems to be in seafood they serve very good hong Kong dim sum. Ingredients used are very fresh. Recommended.
We went on a weekend night, food was delicious and service was prompt and friendly! Favourites of the night were the steamed dragon tiger garoupa steamed with green peppercorn (which we drank up all the steaming juices ) and eel in a savoury black bean gravy. Ended on a sweet note with crumbly lava egg tarts 👍🏼
Prices were really reasonable for the quantity and quality… we will be sure to revisit soon
Excellent HK style dim sum and seafood at reasonable prices.. Reminds you of a wonderful small eatery in HK. Try the dragon groupa (think locally farmed) with slightly spicy peppery sauce. Fish is steamed just nice so flesh is smooth and light. Soya sauce fried noodles also shows the skill of the chef, with wokhei and well coated sauce.
Only gotta be patient with the service during busy periods, though they are trying to improve (hard to hire people in F&B now). Will go again. Good recommendation by a friend.
Lobster dishes (sashimi and noodles) were special and tasty. Service staffs were attentive and helpful, especially May. Overall, the food tastes above average.
Cheap price don’t expect good service. The fish run out fast even after you placed order … it swims away.
YumCha Chinatown is still the best.
Very fresh seafood at reasonable prices, super attentive service.
Food is yummy! Loved the siew mai and the vegetables. Price is ok compared to other seafood joints, especially considering the generous servings. Service staff were very attentive although it was crowded. Everything came within a reasonable time and they made sure our teapot never went empty.
Awesome seafood. Tasty and juicy. The sashimi lobster is awesome
Good price for delicious and fresh seafood.
Friendly staff too
Great food. Seafood are very fresh and reasonably priced.
Dim sum is good.
The zichar is not bad, just slightly lacking in wok hei compared to last visit.
Had beef Hor Fun, wat Dan (silky egg) Hor fun and various dim sum like har gao, siew Mai, fried prawn dumplings, char siew bao.
Service staff is attentive and friendly.
Overall a good experience for a CNY lunch gathering.
One of the best hidden hk restaurants in sg. Everything we've tried on the menu so far is excellent. Great quality of live seafood and not too expensive compared to other restaurants of this type.
There are only some selection of food that are value for money and good like the drunken and steam prawns, small soon hock (fried or steam),salted fish skin and some of their dim sum dishes . Overall, its a nice restaurant to visit.
Fresh live seafood, reasonable pricing, good service.
Had the steam fish, fresh and tasty in soya sauce. Meat dishes, Sweet & Sour Pork, and 口水鸡 were just so-so.
Good place for dim sum and seafood dishes. Helpful staff and reasonable price. " Dry fried flat rice noodle with beef " is a must try.
Bamboo clam is the bomb. There is something special with their soy sauce for seafood, flavourful and not salty.
Lots of live seafood choices. Decent dimsum and overall ok. Would come back if going to Kallang Wave Mall
Dr difficult to navigate because carpark at Kallang Wave Mall large and signage not clear. Must park at Pillar B11 and take lift up to 2nd floor.
Cheap, good, fast. Cheese egg tart is a must try, drunken prawn very fresh and cheap. Worth a try
The lobster bee hoon was delicious 😋 The dim sum were also tasty.
The chef has skill - just glance around - all the chatter in cantonese by more elderly patrons confirms that the food here is legit.
Very good, my compliments to the chef. Definitely worth a visit!
Wide spread of seafood and dim sum choices at affordable prices.
Foods are nice.
Good value seafood restaurant which is popular with locals
Love the live lobster ...dim sum was so so
Seriously excellent seafood and dimsum.
nice

100% Authentic & Delicious Hong Kong cuisine
Dinner price: approx SGD 40 - 50 per pax
Overall level: 5/5 ⭐
100% Hong Kong style!
All seafood is fresh and whole - steamed eel with black bean sauce is extremely plump; steamed fish is tender, steamed razor clams with vermicelli and garlic sauce are chewy and juicy
Dim sum is sold at the night market, all of which are worth trying. The beef balls are chewy, the water chestnuts have Worcestershire sauce, and the fried dough sticks are thin and crispy
And the price is very reasonable, ordering seafood is about SGD 40-50, everyone can go and try it if you live in Hong Kong!
100% authentic Hong Kong food.
All the seafood was freshly made - the steamed eel with soy sauce was rich in flavor and the eel was very tender; the steamed fish was cooked to the perfect temperature and the meat was tender and moist; the garlic razor clams were HUGE, cooked with glass noodles, the clam juice and garlic sauce were well soaked in the noodles, making it a dish you will not forget
The dim sums were also fantastic - the beef meatballs had water chestnuts in them which gave them the exact texture that you usually taste in HK, with the Lea & Perrins Sauce, it was the perfect remake 👌 The fried dough with rice noodles rolls was a must try, the rice noodles rolls was thin yet "al dente", the right texture, and the fried dough was freshly deep fried and it was crunchy outside & tender inside
Also, the prices are very reasonable. Around SGD 40 - 50 per pax you could enjoy a freshly made seafood meal. If you miss the Hong Kong authentic flavors, do give it a try!
It’s delicious. There are many live seafood shops and snacks. The waiters are very friendly and provide excellent service.
Delicious snacks are provided for lunch and dinner, and the seafood is fresh and delicious.
The food is of a high standard, the prices are reasonable, and the service is top notch!
