Reviews of Jū Kyū Restaurant & Bar
The decor is perfect for Instagram, and the service crew was incredibly attentive. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered several different dishes from poultry to seafood to beef, and every single one was fantastic. I highly recommend trying their beef—so tender! Presentation of each dish was on point too. Worth every penny and will definitely recommend. 👍
Finally got to try this highly raved restaurant bar. First of all, the ambience was great. loved the Japanese vibes with murals, dark tones, and neon lights, perfect for a catch-up or date night.
However, prices are on the steeper side. I ordered the miso beef ramen, which was interestingly good—sweet and savory, not the soupy kind. The truffle beef rice bowl was decent, and the skewers tasted great too.
Can't say much for drinks as we didn't stay for those. We spent approximately $40 per person, not cheap.
Honestly wanted to give 5 stars but something felt lacking from my experience.
Food - good quality, pretty fresh ingredients were used, and there were some interesting dishes. My favourite was the uni caviar cracker. Besides that, other dishes lack character, and tasted pretty standard. It's also pretty pricey. My pet peeve is when restaurant don't serve water. It's $1 per person/refillable, but it just doesn't sit right when a cocktail is already over $20. At that price point you can give water complimentary.
Drinks - interesting selection. I had the kyoho cloud which was fun, but it smelt funky. Nothing about the restaurant, it's just the liquer used and the foam that confused my senses.
Service - pretty helpful, if not overenthusiastic with the plate clearing. While I appreciated the attention, server tried to clear my plate that I was still eating from along with an empty one.
Atmosphere - the murals are a nice touch, I enjoyed the creativity behind them. The fake flowers hanging overhead were a bit of an overkill. The tables are spaced too closely and I felt like I was participating in the neighbouring table's conversation. Walkway was also very tight, and my seat was consistently bumped into by anybody who was trying to walk past, including many servers.
Excellent food. Rice bowl was out of this world. Even the curry udon and grilled squid. They were all spectacular. The pork dish under mains were the least inspiring. Its ok, but there’s no wow factor like the rest of the dishes. Pretty good cocktails and If you head down before 8pm, you can get the cocktails at $18 which is a steal considering the cocktail prices in SG. I will definitely be back for the rice!
Nice cosy restaurant for a girls nite get together. Unique and nice cocktail with super friendly staffs. Their ramen and egg plants are must order dishes.
Amazing ambiance, killer Japanese/pan Asian fusion concept with a OUTSTANDING cocktail/wine program.
Kickass happy hour deals. Say hi to master Bryan at the bar. He will take care of your every beverage need.
The pics will speak for ambiance themselves. Make a reso, it’s usually busy during peak times.
Perfect for a business lunch, date night or dinner with friends or family.
Average food looks affordable individually but could add up easily if going for full meal. Must say they have very nice environment!
Lovely ambience and great lighting.
Open kitchen that you can view the action of grilling and cooking with friendly chefs.
The servers (Alice ) the Bartenders are amazing. Very energised, happy and ready to serve .
Good food recommendations based on each taste preferences from the staff and they are obviously very happy to make customers enjoy their experience there.
Their positive vibes is not affected by full house or off peak periods.
One star is removed cos we felt that the fried whitebait can be improved by shaking the flour coating off before frying them.( It's too thick and one cannot taste the white baits!)
Everything else is fantastic.
Crispy chicken skin is clean and hairless
Buttered corn milky and juicy .
All the skewers maintained moisture while having a nice charred flavour.
Go for a nice chill for happy hour and don't forget their creative house cocktails!
Skewers were beautifully grilled, especially the grilled squid. Pina colada was our favourite! The team are very friendly and warm. We highly recommend
A very cosy place, nicely decorated and lit, for dinner and drinks with friends. The cocktails are unique and taste good! Food is awesome. My personal favourites are their Japanese oysters (three for $10 when you order their cocktail) which are big and plump and their cheescake! The waiting time for food is slightly long but take the chance to catch up with your friends over their lovely drinks. The boss offered us an additional piece of cheesecake and we were blown away by their hospitality!
The staff is friendly and helpful and the bartender made our drinks with poise. He made us a bespoked cocktail: wasabi rim, orange and star anise that was torched. Besides the good taste, the cocktail was elevated with the smell of the torched star anise. One of the best cocktails I've ever had.
Prices are slightly on the high side but we thought that it was all worth it.
amazing service and food! would love to come back real soon. the aesthetics of the place is truly next level and everything tasted fantastic.
I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant without any hesitation. The service they provided was absolutely top-notch, leaving no room for disappointment, and the food they served was undeniably exceptional, offering a truly superb culinary experience.
During our visit, we had the pleasure of trying a variety of dishes, and among them, I must say the truffle beef rice bowl and the spicy cumin udon are absolute must-tries.
While my overall experience was fantastic, I didn't give it full marks due to my personal preference not aligning with the music played in the restaurant =p However, I acknowledge that there are others who might thoroughly enjoy the music selection.
Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for exceptional service and delectable food.
Celebrated a friend's birthday and had a blast. Rice bowls were yummy and white rice goes better with the beef n unagi; the glutinous rice was so fragrant that I ate it on its own. Friendly staff and lovely ambience enhanced the dining experience. Special mention of the bartender, Brian whose service was impeccable and his cocktails, delectable.
Nice place with an interesting interior.
Ordered the
- Beef tripe skewer
Never eaten tripe before but it done well and was edible haha
- Uni & crab cracker
Loved this! You will have to bite the ikura, Uni and crab along with the cracker for the full flavours to come out. Love the combination
- Soft Shell Crab
It was nice but nothing special
- Bay Scallops and mushroom glutinous rice
This was the bomb! The glutinous rice was so addictive that it was so hard to stop! It was bursting with flavours
Cocktails were so-so. They had happy hour for beers only. Would have been nice to be a bit more generous with discount especially on a Monday evening at 5:30 when there was barely anyone in the restaurant.
Overall a pleasant experience.
amazing cocktails & food! Would 100% recommend Kyoho Cloud, Haru Kappuru (Yuzu/ Melon) We got another bespoke one and the bartender delivered!! - tea & citrus (earl grey & pomelo!!!) food wise - SKEWERS & barramundi were outstanding
Drinks were very tasty! The staff was super welcoming and as it was my friends birthday they gave us a super yummy treat! Music/vibe was fun too!
Hidden gem. Japanese food was surprisingly good! Tempura was crispy without being oily. Truffle beef was soo good. Curry udon had a spicy kick with Japanese curry.
Cocktails were refreshing. Recommended for a quiet Aircon place for dinner.
1st time trying this place. You can do a 3 mins walk to this place via Telok Ayer MRT station, but if you drive, maybe difficult to get parking during peak hours. Quality of food is generally good, except some may not taste good (black pepper stir fried udon taste salty). However, the food serving is considered slightly slow, even though is weekday. They do have happy hour beer at $10 per pint (before 8pm on weekday). Staff are generally friendly and the place is quite cozy with disco music.
Udon is good but linguine is bad, do not recommending getting the linguine.
Got the lunch set and it was a pretty good deal
If you’re coming for lunch should come early as the wait gets pretty long if you come at around 1230
I have pretty high expectations when it comes to dining out, and Jū Kyū Restaurant & Bar has consistently impressed me! From the moment I first visited, their food has been nothing short of exceptional. The chawanmushi and skewers are standouts, and I love that they also offer a great lunch menu.
The ambiance is cozy and beautifully decorated, making it an inviting spot despite being tucked away at the end of the street. The service here truly sets them apart – you'll feel like you’re dining with family. A special mention to Kezhi and Karthi, who are always so attentive and thoughtful in their recommendations.
But I have to give the biggest shout-out to April. She is, hands down, one of the best! April’s warmth and friendliness make every visit feel extra special. She goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best experience, and her wine recommendations have been spot-on. I still remember the first bottle she suggested – it was perfect for my taste, and now I always look forward to her suggestions. She’s truly a gem, and part of the reason I keep coming back.
If you're looking for a restaurant with incredible food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service, Jū Kyū is the place to be. Thanks to April and the whole team for making every visit memorable!
Love the interior!!!!!! Super pretty. Have to get the bespoke drinks made by Bryan. He ALWAYS. DELIVERS. 😂 it’s like he taps into ur soul and knows what u really want without u rly asking for much. Definitely will go back for the drinks! Cocktails are nice too if you don’t want to get bespoke. Didn’t try the food except for bar bites which are ok!
Ju Kyu serves modern Japanese cuisine and I was generally pleased with my experience. The decor and ambiance were definitely a highlight - the modern and edgy Japanese theme was well-executed and created a lively atmosphere.
The food was good and I enjoyed the truffle beef rice bowl. The thinly cut crispy chicken skin nibbles were a nice touch, especially with drinks.
Though I was also a bit disappointed with the Japanese-inspired cocktails, which didn't quite live up to my expectations. They were creative, but didn't quite hit the spot for me.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jukyu Bar, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly hospitality that made me feel right at home.
The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from that catered to all tastes and dietary preferences. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, and I especially enjoyed the creative twists on traditional Japanese cuisine.
But what really set Jukyu Bar apart was the exceptional service provided by owner Quintino. He went above and beyond to ensure that every guest was well taken care of, offering recommendations, checking in on us regularly, and even stopping by our table to chat and share stories. It was clear that he takes great pride in his restaurant and truly cares about his customers.
Overall, I would highly recommend Jukyu Bar to anyone looking for an incredible dining experience. The food is great, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the owner Quintino is an absolute gem. I can't wait to go back
My go-to place to bring friends and loved ones to for any occasion. They may be new to Keong Saik but their impeccable service, delectable food and beautiful decor will keep you coming back for more! Thank you for the amazing hospitality 🥂
The environment is cool with japanese designs. The staffs were very friendly and helped us take pictures. Food was great!
Newly opened bar in Telok Ayar Street, beer menu was bit misleading, but overall service is nice. Menu is more focused on drinks than food. But they have a simple lunch menu also. Owner Ken is a nice person.
Amazing food for lunch set and dinner, and interesting cocktails. Love the service here as well :)
This bar has great vibe. Bar tender was nice and funny. The cocktails were really good.
nice finger food. nice cocktail
gd service friendly staffs
The best place to be for sweet tooth. The food and cocktails were a tad too sweet to my liking; could not finish the cocktail. The G&T was flat, tonic was left on the shelf for a while, I guess, but the right garnish was used so thumbs up.
Squid and white bait were fresh
Beef bowl and the sambal were the best from what I have ordered. I have to give a 2 stars for food category, because it is a restaurant bar, both food and alcohol has to make the mark. Food alone, to me will be a 3 stars.
Amazing music, great food, and really hospitable service. Highly recommend the skewers.
Everything we ate was very good . Not only Esthetically plated, but also tasted delicious!
The drinks was also on par with some of the top bars, Brian really deliver! Service was good , food was great and drinks was awesome!
Ju Kyu is an underrated restaurant! The ambience is AMAZING and the food is really good too. I had a business lunch here on one of the weekdays and I recommend going for their set lunch which has a good few options to choose from.
The one thing I would perhaps suggest is to have an option to switch out a ‘lights’ item to a ‘dessert’ item for the 3-course set option.
Everything was good! even April the waitress that served gave us her fullest service which made our night even better! 🥰 love the restaurant a lot would totally come here again
Beautiful interior especially the sakura! Great food and servers are polite and attentive. Will definately be back!
Food was not bad (passion fruit drink thingy was quite weird), but service was quite slow. Lunch sets were pretty worth
Good drinks. Great places
Love the ambience of the place. And the uni crab cracker is very good!
Friendly staffs & nice dining vibes
