Reviews of Kanada-Ya Ramen Jem (Jurong)
I recently visited Kanada-Ya Ramen, and it was one of the best ramen experiences I’ve ever had! I ordered the signature truffle ramen, and it was out of this world. The truffle aroma added an amazing depth to the already rich and flavorful broth, creating a perfect fusion of earthy and savory flavors. The noodles were cooked to perfection with a delightful, springy texture, and the chashu pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, making each bite an experience in itself.
What really stood out was the exceptional service. The manager was incredibly friendly, personally stopping by our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal. This extra attention made us feel genuinely welcomed and added a warm, personal touch to the experience. The staff as a whole were attentive and efficient, and the cozy atmosphere made it easy to relax and fully savor each bite.
Kanada-Ya truly excels in both food and service. For ramen lovers and anyone looking for a unique, high-quality dining experience, this place is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return for another bowl of truffle ramen!

We first visited Kanada-Ya at PLQ some years back, hence this will be a fresh visit as we have forgotten how it was like back then. 😅
When we ordered the basic ramen, we were nonchalantly told it doesn't come with egg. That's alright and it's good to let the customer know ahead of time.
I remembered ordering the truffle ramen and some sides back then. We are going to have the Tonkotsu mix and Spicy Yuzu this time round.
My tonkotsu mix is apparently a mix of tonkotsu broth and chicken paitan, both high in collagen. The resulting mixture is a milky base where the tonkotsu seemingly overpowered the paitan, somewhere between Ikkousha and Takagi. I argued that Takagi is really light as it's meant for the affordable range. Apart from the melty pork chashu, the rest is nothing to shout about.
As expected, the spicy yuzu is a different taste profile. Yuzu with a thick broth may not be for everyone though. Thankfully, we have places serving good yuzu ramen here. To really let the yuzu stand out, go for a lighter soup base of shoyu or shio.
There is a kids menu as well as add-on sets that comes with your choice of sides and two drinks.
For a place serving tonkotsu ramen, they could provide cups of water to wash down that cloying palate at the end of the meal. There were only chopsticks on a stand on every table, no serviettes/tissues were provided.

Ordered the Kotteri Tonkotsu (basic), Black Garlic, and Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen both regular with water. It’s $64!! The broth is thick and delicious but the portion is not worth it.
For start, they serve the thinnest Chasu that I ever had (might win the category in the Guinness book of record). It’s almost like bacon or hotpot pork belly. So 3 pieces of their Chasu is like a single piece that you’ll get from other ramen restaurant. They don’t give any side dish like boiled egg or bean sprout. Tissue is charged. Water is also chargeable $0.5
They are really understaffed and need to continuously asking to get our water refilled.
I’ll definitely not coming back. There are many other ramen restaurants that DEFINITELY give you a much bigger bang for the buck.
Came on a Monday for dinner and was served promptly. Small shop around the corner in JEM with nice ambience. We ordered the mazesoba (spicy), kotteri tonkatsu ramen and gyoza to share. Mazesoba was legit spicy, but so so addicting 🤤 Tonkatsu ramen had a rich broth and texture of noodles was just right! Chashu was not too fatty which we appreciate! Will definitely be back! :)
Delightful. The price is slightly steeper than other ramen restaurants but I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the chashu (both belly and collar) and the creaminess of the soup. The noodles are alright, my friend thought it was just nice but I felt it could be slightly softer. I happened to come while they had a promo. going on too so we got to pick a free topping each (we chose to have 4 more slices of chashu).
We also had gyoza and takoyaki; the gyoza was alright (needs to be grilled a bit more for that crispy skin imo) and the takoyaki was fresh and its batter tasty, but the tako inside was pitifully small.
Overall, still happy with this find 👍
The total came up to 54 SGD after service tax and all, but we received a 10 dollar voucher for future as well as a 10% rebate since we downloaded their app.
My thick Cha Shu ramen is thick and flavourful. We also order spicy yuzu and if you crave for some spicy news u can try that. Not bad but personally I prefer my Cha Shu ramen.
Was pleasantly surprised by the tonkotsu ramen which tasted quite comparable to Ichiran in Tokyo! Noodles were al dente and broth was rich. Chashu cut thinly and cleanly, which elevated the quality of the ramen. One small criticism was the staff seemed a tad inexperienced - taking my order before I was ready; I dropped my chopstick and she picked it up and put it back on my table (I was already done eating so this was not too problematic). 😅 overall still a pleasant experience!
Ordered the special tonkotsu ramen and the mixed tonkotsu ramen, hoping the latter was a lighter soup as described in the menu. Unfortunately, it was extremely salty and felt more suitable as a tsukemen broth. Otherwise, we enjoyed the toppings, egg, and noodles, though I'd prefer a choice of doneness as it was a little too al dente for my taste. Both pork belly and pork collar were delicious and tender.
Ramen soup was great. Waiting time not too long despite having a promotion. Staff was friendly and polite as well. Serving portion for chashu don was very generous and the taste was very flavourful.
Just note that the wet wipes are 30c each and they will charge you with you use it.
Ramen was delicious and authentic tasting. Service was very good as well with the friendly staff 👍🏻. Just that the restaurant was small and little too squeezy. Would be great if they had a bigger place/shop.
Newly opened in Jem . Surprisingly the outlet is relatively small with less than 20 tables. I felt cramped as the tables are close to each other. I ordered the original ramen. The soup was tasty and not oily unlike most ramen. It comes with 3 slices of charsiew which very thin like the shaved ham thickness. A nori and fungus strips topping. Overall reasonable for the price.
Was there for lunch service. Fuss free ramen joint. Had the Kotteri Tonkotsu Ramen; broth was creamy and rich in flavours. Ramen cooked al dente. Chashu and other condiments was regular. Also ordered the Tonkotsu Mix Ramen as mom prefers a lighter broth. Good set lunch deals that comes with sides (pretty standard fares, picked the gyoza and chicken karaage).
Easily the best ramen in town & yays, now in the West! Thick rich flavourful broth with springy qq ramen, best comfort food anytime!
Very good tonkotsu ramen, which I personally find better than most of the other ramen shops at JEM/Westgate.
Fairly casual sit-down restaurant. Minor note: servers here prefer to speak Chinese.
Highly recommended ramen-ya for this area.
The best Ramen store outlet I had ever encountered, The uncle that was a manager working here was extremely polite and kind towards my service and order. Once even convinced to get Kanada ya app, no choice but to download in front of him. Very good outlet to enjoy your ramen here! 😊
Yummy broth, good portion and price…
Its alright la the price its worth for the food.. not the best but standard still okok satisfied my cravings
Their tonkotsu ramen reminds me very much of Hakata Ikkousha, but the flavor of the soup is somewhat weaker. Unlike Ramen Keisuke, there were no options to vary the intensity of the soup. The service however, is very good especially the cheerful uncle that tends the cashier. They also have an app where you can earn rebates to offset againt your next meal.
My 4th visit here and food has been great every time! Have tried almost every item on the menu, my favourite is the Truffle and Black Garlic Ramen! The sides are also really good :)
Staff waiting for me to indicate my interest to enter the restaurant instead of welcoming me promptly. Never even asked my noodle preference when placing order.
Tonkotsu ramen has a thick broth, taste not bad, chashu also not bad. Egg is over seasoned(too sweet imo). Noodles is good, like ippudo’s.
Noodles was good. Spicy Yuzu ramen refreshing. Service was good. They refilled the tea without having to ask. Karage was disappointing though
Ramen is not bad. Not as good as the one we had in London.
I had the truffle ramen which tasted good, but at $26, the value isn't there.

Very fine and firm noodle with fragrance thick broth.
Food was good, had a very satisfied meal after a long day. Staff were attentive. I am already looking forward to my next visit!
Cosy nice place, mains are nice but the sides kaarage chicken quite salty for me. Hope to see more variety of sides.
