Reviews of Kei Kaisendon Paya Lebar Square
This restaurant was recommended by my brother, Thomas who had tried two other outlets, Katong and Novena square, so on 22 Nov 2024, as a family, together with my sister, Eileen and my elder daughter, Emily, we had dinner at Kai Kaisendon, PLS, the waitress was very friendly and she had went through with us the menu and told us how to order, really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere, will definitely come back again.
Had lunch there today with my family. Utilised 2 Shopee vouchers & ordered 2 more mains & a drink. Chinese female staff was proactive, friendly & provided great service to customers. She provided complimentary soups, salads & extra hot green tea to ensure we had a value added lunch. She was enthusiastic & really working hard to promote to people walking past the restaurant during her free time when not serving customers. She also checked with customers to ensure they had enough of the complimentary soup, salad & tea. Worth to pay extra 10% service charge.
The signature kaisendon was really good value with lots of seafood at a reasonable price. But the star of this place is really the service. The lady who served us was very generous and attentive. Kitchen is small so orders may take a bit longer than usual for cooked orders but worth the wait. Would definitely go back here!
initially came to Paya Lebar area with the intention to try something else but changed my mind. Went to this place at Paya Lebar square instead to try this instead. Kei Kaisendon serves rice bowl with sashimi. This shop is on the level one, relatively easy to locate. I was there during dinner time, but seats were readily available.
i had the Kei Signature Kaisendon which comes in 3 sizes, price starting from SGD$12.90++ onwards. Each rice bowl comes with a salad and soup. Completed my meal with a drink and sesame tofu for an additional of 4.90 if i didn't remember wrongly. Food was not bad, the sashimi tasted fresh and the sides were pretty decent as well. Service was good as well, felt welcome. However, noticed alot of flies in the shop, that is probably the only downside for me.
Overall, a pretty good experience dinning here and would definitely be back again.
Been visiting this shop since they first opened.
Nowadays they offered more items on their menu, including value sets.
During our recent visit we ordered the value set that came with 2 main dishes, 2 ebi mentaiko, clam miso soup, salad, and drinks.
We had the kei signature kaisen don (large) and hotate kaisen don. Generous amount of ingredients. Fresh and delicious.
Loved the ebi mentaiko (prawns) too! Very flavourful.
Value for money.
Service was OK.
There’s Burpple one for one here, where you can get 2 set meals including 1 of their 9 dons, 1 miso soup, 1 small salad, and 2 yakitori sticks at $35 after gst and service charge.
We had the mentaiyaki Kaisendon and Unagi don. Portion was decent and they were pretty generous with their mentai, but otherwise there’s nothing very special about their dons. Unagi don tasted kinda similar to the ones you can get at Donki. Nonetheless it’s still pretty worth it with the Burpple deal.
Wow, I had a nice dinner. This shop and the one beside selling fried pork / chicken cutlet with unlimited rice, soup & cabbage is owned by same boss.
That means, I can sit in any of this two restaurants and have the food other from the other restaurant. Convenient to me because I slowly cut down my friend food intake as it is unhealthy to blood arteries.
Do view my photo for further review.
I like this shop by far the most affordable and still able to have unlimited cabbage I love it because some food can be salty and I need these cabbage to ease the taste.
So be kind with words and stay happy and healthy always!

Been here numerous times. Their seafood is fresh and very tasty. I noticed they have opened a few branches around the island.
Ordered this unagi dish for the first time. Very tasty. Although I wished the unagi was grilled a bit crispy. But it was definitely very good.
Lovely place for Sashimi Don. The grilled prawn starters that comes with the set is phenomenal. The miso soup got extra effort, added clams.
One drawback is the inconsistency, same dish served with diff quantities in just a month. See pic.
Food is fresh and delicious. Averaged $20 per person for sizable Regular dish with bottomless tea/water and miso soup. Liked it 👍
I haven’t visited this outlet for more than a year. came here today bcos someone gifted me a meal voucher to redeem their signature chirashi bowl
sashimi was fresh. what was impeccable was the lady who served me. a middle age lady with heavy chinese accent, she’s a gem. even though my meal was free, she was very attentive. i told her to omit rice in my chirashi so she asked if I would like salad underneath my raw fish instead.
halfway through my meal, she also asked me if i wanted tea (i wasn’t expecting that)
overall, food was good as it was in the past, chirashi bowl came served with a side salad and miso soup. miso soup has wakame, radish and ingredient not just plain miso soup
service definitely improved since I last visited. This lady is a gem and made my meal so much better.
When I left she even thanked me for coming by and told me to come back again. Well, with her here, I certainly would return and pay for my next meal here
Had used the burpple deal. I'd say it's an average nice bowl of chirashi but nothing to shout about. For the price point it's kinda pricey comparing similar chirashi out there with more quality sashimi.
Kei Kaisendon scored 💯 and really satisfied my craving for semi/raw salmon.
My mom had the barachirashi (she had this a few times from this outlet) and I had the salmon sashimi don with ikura. The green “seaweed” garnish was delicious, it was sour (depends if you like it or not) and I love the texture.
The serving of the salmon was rather generous and the slices are on the thicker side which justify the price of the bowl ($18++) I will definitely recommend this outlet as well as the Wistma outlet Kei Kaisendon (the other outlets have a few negative feedback)
The aburi salmon mentaiko was great too, can be compared to ITACHO’s. Slices were thicker than Genki’s too, making it price worthy ($14++)
Staff gave me and my mother free salad and bowl of miso soup which was rich and tasty, even though it was free, the soup had ingredients inside like tofu carrot seaweed and radish. Service was great too, staff had small talks with us and came over a few times to offer refill green tea/soup.
Overall we spent about $55 for 2 pax, comparing the price and the quality/quantity, it’s worth it and I’ll definitely return!
Mary at this branch is FANTASTIC. She's a very good sales person, manage to entice customers into the shop with her friendly disposition, always with a smile on her face from hostessing, serving and cashering. She is a GEM 🤩
Went to Paya Lebar Square outlet. Being served by the only lady staff. Was really impressed by her service standard! She welcomed every customer with bright smile. After seated, she served me with tea and then change another cup of tea because that was newly brew. Nice gesture and very thoughtful! Hope your company appreciate her as she is really a gem staff!
We got the lunch set. Portion look tiny but just nice to feel full and not over the top. The saba and prawns were grilled well. Gyozas came boiled which were a bit of a shock.
What makes this place so amazing is the lady. She is super attentive and just great great service and polite. Feels homely, great tasting food and just really really nice experience for amazing value. Love the place and love her
All bowls come with salad and soup. Good value. The portion was just nice for us. The service staff helped to refill tea every now and then, and also helped us split bill, which we really appreciated. Although the space is not huge but we had a great time eating there. Food was fresh and served quick, staffs were nice, and they didn’t pressure us to leave when they were people waiting outside.
Service was good but unable to make up for the food.
Cold green tea tasted like water
Miso soup was decent
The first bite of their signature don was relatively fishy, otherwise it was good. Had a piece of tako that was not cut well and was basically a tentacle.
Added on a hotate mentai which tasted good and had ikura on top.
Overall, too expensive for its freshness/quality.
But good on the staff for their service.
Small cosy place for delicious rice bowls, had the couple set comprising a choice of 2 rice bowls, 2 salads, 2 miso soup with clams, 2 prawns with mentaiko mayo, 2 green tea all for $50. Excellent value with fast friendly service, highly recommend this place👍🏼
I must say that the bowls are a little over-priced but they serve pretty fresh salmons here! Personally I do not fancy tuna and other sorts of raw food, except for salmon but it was definitely worth the try as the variety of raw food on the signature bowl that I tried was far from what I thought it would taste! Would head down to the store again some day!! :-)
Delicious food. Service was very very outstanding as the staff took initiative to approach the tables, to ask if there's more things they need, top up drinks, add more salad/soup, clear the table, pass tissue. Food was served quite quickly too.
Friendly service and attentive staff ! We had the signature kaisendon set via chopedeals. The rice bowl portion is smaller than the usual in menu but it's still served with very fresh ingredients deliciously prepared! In addition, the staff generously gave us more hard boiled eggs too. Will surely return to try the other dishes.
Great dining experience! Staff were very friendly and their signature dishes were very delicious! Their sashimi is very fresh and it really swept me off my feet! Highly recommended!
One of the best Kei Kaisendon branches. Food was good! I would also go as far as to say that the dishes are more delicious here, especially the clam soup.
Perfect portion for me. 1) it's hard to to balance quality, price and serving size 2) people nowadays are often too greedy and entitled, eat more than necessary and end up with a host of health problem starting with obesity. Super quality fish at SGD17 what's more is real wasabi is included , lots of it! Wastful salad though, didn't even touch it
Nothing to rave about the food and atmosphere, but just want to leave a feedback for the service of the lady at the cashier, she also serviced me at my table and her service was impeccable. Very polite and attentive 👏👏👏
Don comes with peanut sauce salad and miso soup.
Their seafood and signature dish Kei Kaisen Don taste fresh and fantastic, It became my favourite Japanese restaurant for eating Kaisendon! They have 2 other shop location at Novena Square2 & Suntec City Mall, would recommend to my friends!! 😃
i had a rly good experience eating here with my friend. the food was extremely delicious and it was definitely worth the visit. the service there was also really really really good & the hot tea served was FANTASTIC.
Chirashi bowls were delicious. My favourite was the mentaiko bowl, prices are affordable and seafood is fresh. Worth trying!
Fantastic kaisendon and the service staff were really accommodating and helpful! Thumbs up! Enjoyed the lunch set meal here.
Couldn’t use Burpple as they had a 1 for 1 promotion. Food is very good
Really friendly staff ! Service was good as well ! If you love seafood you’ll definitely love their food ! Do head down to try it out
I think 3 stars is for average meal. Cost about $20 for this, with hot tea.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was flavorful and fresh as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience !
the staff are really nice ,and service is really good. though the food is smaller in portion and quite pricey overall its really worth it!
Service was prompt and polite, the standard of food surpassed my expectations! Good environment and friendly staff. ☺️
The food was nice and good and the service was good too.
Great dining experience!! Affordable price. Food is great and fresh.
Fish isn’t very fresh for the price. Was prepared very quickly.
Really loved it!! Super wonderful experience!
All the reviews before me are overrated.
Good portion and yummy!
The service is excellent. 👍👍👍
Amazing food and service
The store is too small, with only enough space for four or five tables. Coupled with the impact of the epidemic, you need to wait for a long time during busy times. The eel rice tastes okay, but the price is a bit expensive. The average consumption per person is more than SGD 20.
Although the bowl size is small, the ingredients are tailored to local tastes, and although some of the ingredients may not be obvious at first glance, they are delicious.
