Reviews of Kim's Korean Restaurant
Really tasty Korean food. We ordered the beef rib soup and the Mandu soup. Night delicious. They gave so many banchan (side dishes)! Even comes with a minced meat porridge. The beef rib tasted a little gamey. I have not taken beef for a while so as to support sustainable farming. Occasionally I do especially when it’s highly recommended. So maybe it’s just my taste buds. But overall very satisfied with it. Complimentary yogurt. Hehe. Will return for other dishes.
Traditional Korean restaurant. Food is nice with good customer service. Cosy place for families.
I would say that the side dishes serving is definitely generous but the taste is so so.
We ordered pork and beef set, the meat is all tough , hard. The chicken bulgogi tasted fine and soup is 👍🏻.
Customer service is acceptable.
Is like 50 50 kind..
Affordable and pretty authentic Korean fare, what they lack in decor they make it up with the portions. They serve and incredible amount of side dishes, most are of good quality.
The bulgolgi is as good as I remembered, not top quality beef but they give a lot per portion. Tofu stew was lacking in flavorful but similarly there’s a lot of ingredients.
Place is ran by Koreans and they open till late which is fantastic.
Portions are nice and big. Meat cuts are nice and thick.
Many different side dishes (banchan) to choose from if they're a must have for you. There are 12 of them. Fish cake, cabbage, egg, potato, potato salad, eggplant, kimchi, ikan bilis etc.
Prices are reasonable and service is good.
Will return if in the mood for Korean cuisine.
Smelly, noisy, costly.
They expanded to several units to cater more people unfortunately there is no proper ventilation in those new unit to suck up the fumes from BBQ from so many tables. It was so hazy until the floor was sticky with oil. Just make sure this is the last place to visit before you return home, you’ll smell like a well smoked pork. Furthermore, with so many people chatting over their meal, the bare wall accentuate the echo to an almost “deafening” 75 dB (I measured it).
Finally, most of the item in their menu increased by around 15%, but I feel the quality is not as good as I remembered when it was still a humble original Kim’s Family Korean Restaurant, when it was still cozy and homey.
During this pandemic, I suggest the restaurant to remember to check the vaccination status of the diner.
We came here because another Korean restaurant we wanted to go got long queue, and we were totally amazed by the experience here!
So we came in without queuing, dishes were served super fast after ordering.
The first thing we were shocked by the quantity and quality of the free dishes.
Then I was shocked that despite super busy atmosphere in the restaurant, the staffs were super friendly, and they constantly come and check our BBQ, never gave us a chance to flip the meat by our own. The result was our pork jaw cooked perfectly, damn nice to eat with the BBQ sauce.
Good experience at Kim’s ! Prices are reasonable and portions are just right.
We had the $50 Korean bbq set. Kimchi jijjae was normal.
The banchan is good. One of the biggest variety I had so far.
My wife has been craving Korean food these past few weeks, so the family made reservations for the branch @ Bukit Timah, & settled down to some Korean dinner. Started with the usual Korean 'Tapas', followed by our mains. The place started to fill out the moment we sat down.
If you're looking for spicy, piping-hot soups, then this is the place for you!
Comfort food for a rainy day or any other chilly day...Dinner was tummy-warming.
If there's any reason I didn't give 5 starts, it was the fact that while the food was comforting, we didn't exactly get that 'Wow' feel after dinner, & for $128 to feed 4 adults, not exactly cheap...
Definitely one get the feeling of a 👪 restaurant the moment you walk in.. The air is a tad pungent and the walls are filled with graffiti. It's almost as if the proud parents/owner have allowed the children to practice their artistic styles on the wall and left it as a form of interior decor!🤣 Like the typical family restaurant, you can typically expect home-cooked style food served piping hot at the table. No fuss or frills but just decent enough (quite yummy) Korean food. They are quite generous with the punchai... Nice portions n variety to wet the initial appetite before the mains. Didn't get to eat the BBQ this time round but order the Dukbaegi Bulgogi & Sundubu soup which is like a seafood/tofu jigae stew. Both are very good n quite authentic. No complains from this gappy diner this time round! 🙄😀
Affordable and Authentic Korean food here at Kim's Korean Restaurant. Also very family friendly.
Staff are friendly and responds pretty quick to our order. Food came fast.
We ordered a Samgaetang (ginseng chicken) and Kimchi pan cake doe 2 persons, and had the free flow banchan (side dish).
Will come back to try the bbq next time!
Nice meat and lots of side dishes. Great for medium to large group who want to share Korean BBQ. Good choices of soup and pancakes. Nothing fancy all Korean basics expected from your neighborhood restaurant. Service was efficient
Visited for Dinner during the week. My partner and I ordered the Kimchi Soup for 2-3pax. It was probably enough food for 4pax. We barely finished it squeezing the last two of six soup bowls in leaving another one in the pot.
We got served a large bowl with plenty of Kimich, Pork, and Veggies. On top of that we got 12 Korean side dishes including pan cakes, Kimchi, pickled and spiced cucumbers. The soup was thick and had just the right spice. The meat and veggies were very tasty. I loved it. Traditional family Kimchi soup and there was no saving on the ingredients Nor quality. Service and vibe was good. Perfect for a comfy evening meal.
Service is great! There are 12 free-flow side dishes and they are all tasty! Tried to bbq set B, highly recommend the pork belly, perfect fat to meat ratio and nicely grilled
This place has been revamped. It's much bigger and spacious now and occupied three rolls of shops. The business must be doing well. My wife and I come here quite often. I have to say it's a good Korean restaurant. The foods are good. It's just like what I used to have in Korea. Have not had a chance to travel to Korea for a year now. We ordered a beef tenderloin BBQ, fried glass noodles and a ginseng chicken soup. There is plenty to eat. The quality of the steak was good. I wasn't impressed with the apparent of the ginseng chicken but it turns out really good. It was so well braised that the chicken bones actually melt in my mouth. What is good about this place is that we don't really have to queue for a seat. The place was packed when we leave. But as it is so big there is no long queue. The service was also good. The staff were very efficient though it was very busy. We didn't wait long for our foods. Overall very happy with this place.
Wide variety of selection, staff will kindly cook the meat for you, generous with side dishes. Alcoholic drinks are on the expensive end. The serving size for most cooked food is quite large and they are supposed to be for sharing.
Came with friends for lunch after a walk. Very honest server who advise us on how much to order so that we didn't waste food.
Love the homey feeling of this eatery. Korean boss typical unsmiling oppa BUT 101% hospitable kept gesturing to want to move us to bigger table and the ajuma also constantly check on us if we need anything. Only home has this feeling and I think they've done it!
Good authentic Korean food. This is the place that has one of the highest number of free flow side dishes. Portion is big. Can be quite crowded during peak. Reasonable cost. Service can be a little slow at times. Parking is very hard to find.
We went there with colleagues and food is not so bad but the tables are not spacious enough & quite close each other .
Taste feels very authentic, at least based on what I've tasted before in Korea. Soups are good also and you don't get an overwhelming artifical feel to the soup.
I had the sotong soup which is meant for people with strong teeth like me but of course, I will skip it next time.
Pancake is a must try. Crispier than those I've tried elsewhere.
The appetisers are good and interestingly they serve porridge as part of them. Who says no to free food?
I will be back for sure.
An Above Average Korean Cuisine Restaurant, Their Army Stew Are Still Not e Best I've Tried So Far... However, I'll Be Back Again For Their BBQ Meats That Looks Wow!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Amazing food and friendly service!
Lots of delicious side dishes were given.
They will help you grill your meat, so all you have to do is just sit back and relax.
10/10 will go back again!
*Sorry for the half eaten food in the photo taken :)
The food is very good! Pork belly is a must order. The kim chi and ox tail soup are full of flavour. The winner is the 12 side dishes.
Kim's korean is one of the oldest korean restaurant in the area. however recently it stepped up on its meat game. the thick steel grill is no joke, high heat resulted in satisfying sizzle sound and a nice sear on the meat. the beef short ribs, with nice marbling, is the star of the show. Wrapped in Ssam, pop in your mouth, close your eyes and let the enjoyment begin...
Side dishes are amazing! Allows for refilled! Portion of food is filling. Can also try beauty world Korea restaurant!
Went on a Thursday around 12ish 1pm. Place not crowded. Got served by a friendly, young staff will dyed hair. Loved her energy n authenticity in making recommendations. We got a good variety of 12 side dishes plus 1 porridge - which was not refillable. Love it. Ordered kimchi pancake and the ginseng chicken. Good enough for 2. Friendly staff also recommended 2 other dishes which we should try on our next visit and we are planning one soon.
They have open a Sashimi, Sushi restaraunt. KIMU IZAKAYA. Good to have a Sushi, Sashimi place around this area.
Ordered bulgari, mulnaengmyeon and ramen. Great amount of banchan, good service (they don’t flinch when you ask to refill your banchan), great food and reasonable price for a sit in restaurant.
Authentic Korean food, massive spread of kimchi, porridge and appetizers, so go slow with the ordering before you end up overstuffed. Apart from the BBQ, do go for the bulgogi and the samyetang.
Good meat selection. The side dishes and sauce were pretty good
Thought this was an overhyped place. Actually tasted just as good. Both the sides and mains. Recommended if you're around the corner!!
The place gets crowded really quick in the evening so I suggest either coming early or booking the place beforehand (especially if your group size is more than 4). Service was impressively fast and efficient despite the crowd, and the food also didn't take too long to arrive. We really enjoyed the japchae, tteokboki, and the army stew as well, but the ramen top up is a little pricey ($5). Looking forward to my next visit where I'll try the BBQ instead!
Had dinner here in August. Was craving for korean side dishes (yes!!! This is always a highlight of a korean meal) and army stew. The army stew was packed full of ingredients (including a mountain of kimchi) that the portion was more than enough for 2pax. I think it would have been just nice for 3pax, so clearly we overate (without regrets, nonetheless). Saw many customers eating BBQ so that is next up on my list. Until we meet again!
OK Korean BBQ food. Staff are prompt and attentive, and help to cook and cut your food.
There is set meal with bbq bulgogi with noodles. Free side dishes.
We patronised them years ago and returned in October and again yesterday. Nice to see expanded space. Awesome selection of banchan. Pity the staff: very short handed with so many tables to serve.
Food is nice. Good place to chill out with friends
Offers a lot of side. But i recommend go for their cooked food rather than BBQ.
Food is good, a little bit pricy, but may be due to it covers a good variety of side dishes.
Service can be improved. Was there slightly early before it opens. Was trying to check when it is going to open with the staff who was wiping the glass door. He gave no response and it was awkward and embarrassing.
Been here for years and very happy to see that they have expanded till three units. Best Korean place in SG for the generosity in their Banchan and value for money! Thank you for providing such quality food for the past years
Probably the best korean family resturant in SG with large spread of banchan/side dishes which all tasted great!
My go to place when im craving for korean. Good food at a reasonable price with good spread of small dishes- around 12 plates. Their seafood pancake is awesome. Bbq pork awesome too!
Great for family and friends gathering and couple outing. Warm and cozy place.
Loads of side dishes if that's your preference. (although priced into your main dish) Not so many food choices. Decor is minimalist in the extension shoplots. Expanded to 3 shoplots now.
Kim Chi pancake is very sour. Good variety of side dishes.
We were seated beside the water feature wall and it was so dirty.
Good value eatery! 12 side dishes for free. For $20, u get a hotplate of bulgogi and a bowl of cold buckwheat noodles. Nice!
Whenever I crave for good authentic korean foods, this is where I go. Walking distance from Beauty World MRT, they serve many varieties of BBQ or soup, and variety of banchan is served before the main dishes. I especially enjoy their banchan, pancakes and tteokbokki
Not the best Korean good I've had but good. The sides are amazing and the soy milk at the end. Good service good food. Reasonable price
Side dishes served are good. Soup based items are not that good, the ramen was tasteless and BBQ is way overpriced.
They have pretty good stews, especially the samgyetung and flower crab stew. Also love their pajyeon, it has a lot of liao. :)
soooo good the appetisers !
mini salvory authentic korean dishes on the house when you order any dishes! be sure to be overwhelmed !
Very nice dining experience. Someone to cook the meat + a wide selection of side dish.
Food is pretty decent and they serve food very fast. But the place is a bit dated thou.
Best Authentic Korean Restaurant! Galbi Sal BBQ is the Best! Try!
Amazing spread. Good food, but dishes are sized for groups.
Food a bit pricey but quite a lot of side dishes and authentic kor food
The service staff is very good, the barbecue is good but the portion of meat is small, and there are many types of side dishes. Service charge 10%, tax 7%.
The beef is fresh and delicious. It's a great place for a group dinner.
Although it is expensive, it is good to eat when you feel like Korean food.
