Reviews of Lau Wang Claypot Legacy @ One Holland Village
Came to try out this place for a group lunch, and we ordered a 6 person set with a variety of dishes, including sesame and mala chicken, herbal prawns, and clam soup, as well as nyonya vegetables.
Despite the number of dishes, everything was served relatively fast. Service was also polite and attentive. The food itself was delicious, with special call outs to their sesame chicken and herbal prawn soup. The sesame chicken was flavorful and spicy, and the herbal soup was rich and earthy.
The only dish that I felt required improvements was the mala chicken, whose numbness from the spice overpowered the taste of the chicken (to the point my tongue was numb). This could boil down to personal preferences, but I felt that if the "ma" was less, the chicken would be more enjoyable.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant was also clean and airy with plenty of seating. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!
Food was great. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Waiting time can definitely be long should you come on weekends or peak time. Prices are fair to restaurant standard and taste. Would definitely recommend and return!
1st time trying this place. It serves food on claypot from meat, seafood and vegetables. We order a herbal prawns, their promotional stingray in Nonya sauces, claypot chicken, beef and 2 vegetables.
Overall I find the food just ok, nothing fantastic, and the Nonya stingray taste funny to me. The food is served pretty fast.
Staff are friendly, and helpful to position the food well on the table.
The place is at level 2, just next to Lift Lobby C.
Our 2nd time here. Some hits and misses. We like the crab meat omelette and sesame oil chicken. The stingray was a big no for us, it's extremely oily and tasteless. Frog legs were so so.. Will visit again again but will probably order back the same few dishes.
The food is just average good. The taste is a bit on the blend side. Service is prompt and professional. Ambience is family-friendly. It is super crowded during weekend and it will be fully packed by 5.30pm on a Saturday. If you enjoy chinese claypot food, you may want to try out this place.
Our first visit to this claypot legacy, tried herbal prawn soup, sesame chicken and nonya chapchay.
Soup was good with herbal flavour and prawn was huge.
Sesame chicken with option of spicy, was good but chicken can be more tender.
Nonya chapchay was good stew with softness.
Price is worth the portion.
Food was average. Price reasonable. The Sesame chicken was cooked tender and juicy but tasted bland and not well marinated. Very mild sesame oil taste. Truffle mushrooms tasted sour which they said sourish is part of the taste.
We enjoyed the superior herbal prawn broth. Prawns were big, fresh and meaty. The sesame chicken and dou miao were also excellent. All shiok.
Overall, the meal was average. Definitely looks appealing with the food served in the claypot. The signature sesame oil chicken was not too bad but could be more fragrant. Ordered the frog legs and doumiao as well which were alright. Food wise 3.5/5.
However, it’s the queue management that is really bad. Yes, they have the QR code scan for queue number system in place but the whole place was so disorganized when they start calling all the numbers at the same time before they could get any tables ready. My number was called and I still had to wait over 20 minutes outside the store while they tried to get things in order. I had people with queue number behind me entering first. Just really disorganized. Maybe head down when there isn’t a crowd.
New place to check it out, nice food, reasonable. My family loves the herbal soup most, all the dishes r nice too. Suitable for bringing parents there except the area not very big.
Ngoh hiang kind of dry inside, if u r herbal soup lover, u may want to order tian ji herbal soup.
Heard about this place from 2 different friend groups of mine that thr Sesame Chicken is really good, and I had to try it myself! 😆
They go by an electronic QR code queuing system, which allows you to see how many are ahead of you. The store is a little cramp and small.
I'm more surprised by the portion sizes of every dish as it feeds about 3~ 4 people per dish, and it's really affordable for the price & quality. We ordered 3 dishes for 2 people this time 😃👍🏻

Here is what we had:
🐔Small Sesame Oil Chicken [小 招牌麻油鸡] - $9
This was the star dish that keeps everyone coming back, and I totally understand why. For small size, this feeds about 3 pax, and I love how fragrant the dish is in terms of explosive sesame oil aroma. There are little garlic bits in the sauce that give extra aromatic flavours when you bite into the tender chicken thigh bits. The chicken was neither fatty nor had skin, but the meat is really tender. The sauce is a rice stealer really. 🍚 🥹
I rate: 5/5 🌟
🥬Nyona Braised Vegetable Stew [娘惹杂菜] - $12
Growing up with Teochew cuisine, I am a huge fan of zhup-chye! We thought it was pork lard on the top, but even more so surprised knowing it was fried baby scallops that were soft on the inside still and carried a light umami buttery fragrance. The soupy gravy carries the sweetness of the cabbage and dried baby shrimp. Personally, I like zhup-chye so cooked to the point of it being "overcooked." Cabbage here still had a good bite!
I rate: 4/5 🌟
🍲 Superior Herbal Prawn Soup [药材大补虾] - $18
Oh wow, this is a really earthy, herbal soup with goji, red dates, angelica, etc. I can feel my energy replenishing because of how "补" this is. 6 peeled prawns were served in this! Serves about 3~4 pax
I rate: 4/5 🌟

I'm sure to come again with my parents next time to try other dishes, and it's pretty up the traditional Asian-chinese parents' taste palate 👍
I think the low reviews are not justified… one of the best sesame oil chicken and black pepper beef was extremely下饭. The herbal frog (small) portion was way bigger than I expected coz it’s 2 frogs. Overall very satisfied with a short meal during the week. Waiters are efficient and fast too.
Food is okay okay, seasame oil chicken sauce is nice but the chicken texture tastes special, not like normal chicken, and nyonya vegetables are not my type, also tastes special. But environment is okay, can try if haven’t tried before.
Love the new twist to a classic favourite dishes at Lau Wang claypot legacy. we’ve tried so many dishes such as sesame oil chicken, mala chicken mix, ginger clam soup, stir fry dou miao, ngoh hiang and churros too. and everything live up to our expectation. out of these, our favourite is the ginger clam soup, love the blend of flavours and the clam were fresh and very tasty too. will definitely go back to this place.
Loved the Mala Chicken, Ngoh Hiang and Herbal Soup (I got the Snapper Fish version). The mala really had a KICK to it and the herbal soup felt so healing ~ It's a very comforting meal especially if you're craving chinese food and it's a great place to come with your team during lunch breaks or with your family for dinner!
Visited this outlet on their 1st day of opening.
Tried their signature Sesame Oil Chicken, Herbal Frog Herbal Soup & Nyona Braised Vegetable Stew. All served without any delay as we were early before dinner peak hour.
What we had
🌟 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 (𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐲), $𝟗 (𝐒)
Their signature dish and best seller that is marinated in special blend for 8 hours. We opted for spicy option but it’s not spicy 🤭 The chicken is tender and flavourful, goes well with rice 😁
🌟 𝐆𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐰 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐞, $𝟏𝟓
The rice wine taste is pretty strong here and has a slight bitter aftertaste
🌟 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐰 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬, $𝟏𝟓
The sambal can be a bit more spicy imo but nonetheless still flavourful and the prawns and lady’s fingers are well cooked and tender
🌟 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐍𝐠𝐨𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠, $𝟖
Crispy with crunchy water chestnut and minced pork fillings
🌟 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐫-𝐟𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐮 𝐌𝐢𝐚𝐨 𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐭, $𝟏𝟏
Classic dou miao dish

Thanks to a friend of mine who recommended me to this place.
This is my first time to try 3 dishes at your restaurant.
The food are so delicious. Prices are so affordable and it is our first reason to look for dishes.
We chose the healthy foods that are suitable for our immunity.
Forgot to take pictures, but thanks to a staff who attended to our needs despite of our deafness last night
We savored the Original Sesame Oil Chicken, which came in generous portions, tender and flavorful. The meat was well cooked.
We also indulged in the Fragrant Mala Chicken Mix, which packed a spicy punch - just the right amount of heat! The Mala flavor was rich and aromatic, a perfect complement to the succulent chicken.
Food is tasty and ingredients are generous and fresh. Good place to dine at.
Having dinner with family. Nice place and good service provided.
Queing system improvement is a must and provide waiting seat. (Still not iimprove).
Queing arrangement is poor and worst. Those miss que still arrangeto be seat😡😡😡 This happened on 30 March 2024.
The food is great like the rest of the restaurants of Lau wang. The downside is the pepper stingray I ordered. The taste of ammonia is in the meat of the stingray, which make the whole dish taste funky and I will not order this dish again. Other than this, the rest is still okay.
Great claypot food at a relatively cheap price. However it is always crowded and tables are quite small
Order Seasme Chicken, Fried fish dumpling, Garlic prawns, Steam Egg. Not the best , average taste. Prawn dont seem fresh. Quite expensive given the simple food.
Food wise, very tasty. Selected the signature dishes 👍🏻 One down side is that tables were close to one another and space is quite tight.
The food was worth the price and the quality was very good
We had a birthday celebration dinner here. The food is nice and delicious with very reasonable price. The services are extremely good, very considerate, efficient and willing to help for additional requests with smiles. Special thanks to Franky and the team served today. You made us a great day !!! Thank you !😊👍👍
Went to this new outlet at One Holland Village on 18 Dec 2023. Ordered 2 soups & fried ngo hiang. The soups were rich & nutritious & ingredients (eg clams) fresh. The fried ngo hiang is a must! The staff service commendable...will patronise again.
Have been an avid follower of the claypot delights since Serangoon Central days. Love their new dining experience here at Holland, more kids friendly.. air-conditioned, and they still kept their food prices economical. Their sesame chicken (with a twist) still warms my soul ❤️. It only gets better here. Currently free parking as well :)
Good food, affordable prices
Food is good, ambience is good and service is superb
Decent pricing good food. Can recommend
Good food, home cooking style
The soup tastes very good, and the herbs are very flavorful! The chicken is not dry, and the clams are not sandy, very good! I will come again
The food is delicious😋The environment is beautiful~the service is attentive, it’s a great place! Come again next time
