Reviews of Le Bon Funk (Holland Village)
Fantastic service, do make reservation.
First time I get to eat the whole artichoke which feels quite unique.
Beef sandwich has crispy bread, juicy fillings, and nicely cut portioned based on our request for sharing.
Chicken was tender.
Lime ice was refreshing.
Somewhere closer to fine dining where there’s a big selection of wines to go along with the small portion of food at a relatively high price.
The staff is highly skilled, the service is prompt and friendly.
The wine selection is extensive and very original.
As for the food, it’s delicious. I keep coming back, and it never disappoints.
Compliments!
A great night out at Le Bon Funk! We had the sourdough bread, artichoke, gras toast, beef tongue sandwich, and the heritage roast chicken.
Amazing food, but what topped that was definitely Brandon’s service. He was attentive, warm and personable! Thanks for a lovely evening Brandon👌🏼☺️
Thanks Audrey and Leo, for a fabulous time at LBF!
Foie gras toast and heritage chicken are as good as I remembered.
Toast delivers an interesting blend of flavours n texture. Herbs are so well infused into chicken that every bite, including breast meat, is succulent and burst in umami.
Wine pairing recommended by Leo is simply divine.
Will definitely be back. Again n again...
I recently visited Le Bon Funk in Holland Village and had a fantastic experience. The artichoke was a standout dish, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The cocktail I tried was also very enjoyable, and the wine list was impressive with an extensive selection of excellent wines.
The ambiance of the restaurant is chic and cozy, making it the perfect spot for a date night or a night out with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that our dining experience was a memorable one.
Overall, I highly recommend Le Bon Funk if you're looking for great food, drinks, and ambiance in Holland Village. It's definitely one of the best restaurants in the area and is well worth a visit.
This was every bit as good as my friend described it. Food was unpretentious and on point. Service was great. Atmosphere was buzzing and cozy.
Each dish here is curated really well and I’d advise to go in a larger group so you get to try more! The highlights for me were:
Ikura dip. Freshly fried chips with a dip made of roe, super moreish.
The COCKTAILS. I got the spicy mezcal and choked on my drink several times because of the spice (in a good way). Luv it. Others got the nana loco (banana liquor with coconut) and I can’t believe cocktails can taste this good.
Beef tongue sandwich. The meat is sliced so thinly it tastes almost like deli meat, encased in a soft and toasted brioche. Yum!
Lamb saddle. Cooked to just the right doneness and seasoning, served on a bed of orzo rice (if I’m not wrong).
Basically every bite / sip had us “mmmm”ing out loud so I guess the chefs here really know their stuff.
Food quality is good. Chicken ($78) and steak ($188) are well done but personally I feel it is over priced. Much like the chips at $30.
The restaurant is quite small and we sat next to the oven and kitchen. So, it’s quite hot even in the aircon room. The service staff was very good and attentive and the food was good. But we don’t really like the artichoke, just find it interesting. We paid $120 per person and it’s definitely not cheap.
The steak had a slight rotten smell & taste. We informed the staff about this AFTER paying (no desire for replacement/refund) and sent a sample to the chef. We got zero acknowledgement from the kitchen staff about this issue.
$310 for 4 pax dinner on 2023-08-25.
Cedar jelly foie gras toast and leek ravioli were wonderful.
Nicely decorated restaurant with good service. It will be best to make reservations as they can get busy.
Small menu with tweaks done to it daily. Great tasting food. I like their starters and sharing plates of food items.
They have a good wine list and also cocktails and many other beverages.
Excellent quality. Good and attentive service
Wagyu beef tartare, nduja and grilled bread ($39) - fresh beef. Great bread.
Whole dover sole, field spinach and tomatoes ($85) - good, meaty fish.
White asparagus, lardo and kampot pepper ($26) - good, though a small portion.
Baby octopus, harissa and courgettes ($26) - good.
Don't take yourself too seriously! Le Bon Funk, is more casual than meets the eye and I was delighted with atmosphere, food, and in part the drinks and service. Personally, I like a nice restaurant that lets you feel like you are at home. There are enough uptight restaurants here that frown on smart casual with shorts. It's freakin hot lah! No need to wear pants all the time.
The food was good with well balanced flavor. The menu supposedly changes often, but I bet something's stay around. Get the Foie gras and sourdough bread for starters. The beef tongue sandwich is tasty, not smothered in a sauce. For main, the lamb neck or ravioli were nice. The turbot was a bit over cooked, it happens. Desert, apple pie was nice, but could you possibly serve with ice cream instead of the whipped sour stuff... Creme brulee was nice as well.
Drinks, I wish more focus was given in the cocktail area. I know, it's a wine bar. But liquor and wine pair so well together.
Enjoyed the food, wine and service.
Tried a variety of their sides/appetizers: sourdough, burrata , octopus, asparagus, beef sandwich( slightly gamey for my liking but still well executed ) , bluefin tuna , were all good. The whole chicken mains was very good, tender, well seasoned and delicious.
The bottle of red wine and dessert wine recommended were good as well. Service was professional and glad they didn’t force us out by the 2 hr mark ( it’s a small indoor space and it does make sense to have 2 seatings if possible if I run that place) Nice atmosphere and comfortable. I’d recommended to book indoor seating, needs credit card confirmation.
my fav restaurant ever! everything was absolutely chef’s kiss. we ordered wagyu tartare, burrata, leek ravioli and a bottle of red. service was great too. would definitely be back for more! :)
Two thumbs up to the attentive and helpful staff!!! Very knowledgeable with food and wine and provided solid recommendations. Cost is a little on the higher side, but you get what you pay for - quality food that tantalised and satisfied the tastebuds! Plus a great ambience to boot!
We had the following:
Sourdough Bread
Cedar Jelly and Foie Gras Toast (LOVED this! Super lovely, melt in your mouth… and no overwhelming gamey smell… mmm)
Burrata and Gremolata
Trout Crudo
Beef Tongue and Gribiche Sandwich
Turbot, Wild Garlic and Portobello (we were too stuffed by the time this arrived)
Corn Ice Cream
Thank you for the wonderful dining experience :)
Decided on the spur of the moment to dine at LBF. This is my second visit to this chill eatery w relaxed vibes. Sitting alone at the bar provided an entirely different experience from my last visit. I’d recommend this for singles who enjoy people watching from the bar. The staff are experienced, knowledgeable and helpful. There is a wide range of dishes for those with a dairy allergy/intolerance. (See photo). The artichoke with kombu aioli is outstanding and is a great date night dish, as it requires some lingering over. lunch or dinner - I’d recommend this to those who want to dine at an unpretentious eatery with excellent vibes and food. In the photo is the Mackarel, white kimchi and shiso starter.
Chic and sleek decor. The staff were attentive and warm. Food was polished off without much bites as it was tasty and a treat. Truffle butter went so well with the crispy sourdough and EVOO. The beef tongue sandwich dissolved in my mouth from the fatty melty beef. The buratta was clean and tasted refreshing. The pork and pistachio pate wasn't too savory and was a good transition over to the heavier beef dishes. Beef tenderloin and horseradish were also a great complement. Overall a great experience.
Love this place. Delicious food, great wine selection, and good service.
The beef tartare is close to perfection. Must put some of that on the crusty bread.
Will be back again!
Le Bon Funk 2.0 in the heartlands of Holland Village. So nice some of the familiar faces from the club street outlet. Beautiful spaces, delicious food as always and amazing hospitality. 10/10
Had the great time at Le Bon Funk on Saturday evening. Made it for a late dinner at 9pm but the restaurant was still buzzing. Food was delicious, drinks were on point and the service was exceptional. Have to give a special mention to Brandon who served us, he really elevated our experience! From, Timmy, Faith, Preshin and Sandhya.
Ambience was nice, but food portions are small and expensive. Taste was nothing exceptionally.
I would give Le Bon Funk HV 10/5 if I could.
The service was impeccable, with deep knowledge of the menu & wine choices evident. Dishes served to perfection; warm crusty sourdough, burrata, and the whole artichoke were simple but intensely gratifying dishes.
Hats off to Le Bon Funk, long may you rein.
Sharing plates and small portions for sharing. Been here twice & food is good. Their olive oil is phenomenal as well
New location, same great experience. Menu has familiar items from club street and plenty of new things to try too. The venison loin is an awesome new edition. Will definitely go back for more :)
Service was wonderful and they consistently explained the food to us and asked if everything was good! Thank you to all the servers who gave us a good time and the food was good too! Food is on the heavier side and perfect to accompany drinks :)
It was a wonderful experience despite that it was quite crowded. I would like to commend the host for taking care of things, Leonardo who accommodated my request to the cocktails and Voon who is attentive to my needs for cheese selection. Overall i give 4 star due to the variety & price. I hope for more light meaty bites in future.
I ate sourdough, wagyu tartare, anchovies & sardines, octopus & creme brulee dessert. SO GOOD
Passed by and saw they had available tables so we walked in to be seated at the bar. Special shout out to Voon to make our night as we were just having light bites to burn some time before our dinner reservations elsewhere. Food recommendations were clean yet rich in flavours. Which suited our tastes!
Will be back for sure!
Lovely ambience! Interesting range of food! Food best paired with orange wine!
Really great food and service, everything was superb tonight. Would recommend for a date night or occasion!
Food was amazing but plates are rather small so be prepared to order a few dishes to get full. Staff were amazing and super attentive. They provided the best recommendations. Menu changes a lot but the burrata and foie gras are usually always available.
Food is well thought of and absolutely delicious - I am never a pasta person but their leek ravioli with smoked carrot completely changed my mind.
It was really nice of Chef Keirin for personally coming by to serve us our dishes regardless how busy and Chef Jason for always going the extra mile to making sure we are well fed and taken care of.
The ambience is lovely and the service is excellent - special thanks to the Head Sommelier Jos for opening up my mind to the world of wines. It is craftsmanship from him that you rarely find from the industry these days and both the passion and patience you see from him that goes a long way. I never fail to enjoy the wines regardless whether I get a glass or a bottle.
Last shout out to Euri for her lovely smile and Voon for being one step ahead to providing us with what we need without even having to ask.
Highly recommended!
Very good and interesting food. Loved all the dishes we ordered. Interior design is well done too.
Mediocre for the price. The foie gras was really good, thats about it.
Food, wine, service 10/10!! Voon delivered great service throughout. The sommelier is very passionate and gives superb recommendations. Have been coming back and will def continue to do so!
All staff were attentive and friendly. We could feel that they’re passionate about their work. Love the ambience and food too. Will be back for more.
Recommend the foir gras toast and octopus.
Fantastic experience, food is good and service also very nice. One of the best spots in the area for chilling and eating.
