Reviews of Lee Do Restaurant
Came here for Foochow dishes. Absolutely enjoyed the food. The cold crab was delicious and they made it easy to retrieve the meat. The red wine chicken is really thick and good. Love the recommended stir fried liver w kailan. The leedo prawn roll is a hit too! Last but not least the Fuzhou fishball soup with Yan pi is yums! My 2 girls 4 and 6yo ate a lot;) will definitely return!
Used to come here for their famous cold crab. This resturant had a long history and loyal following.
However when I visited recently, I was dismayed to find out that the food standard was vastly different from before.
Cold crab was ok (luckily), the rest was downhill all the way.
Stir fry liver with veg - the liver was hard and dry.
Deep fried baby sotong - good
Fuzhou meat ball soup - blend
Prawn roll - good
Steam fish head - fish was not fresh and overcooked. Taste pretty bad actually.
Overall - expected better from this long established resturant. At this rate, I doubt they will last very long in today’s ever increasing competition.
With a history of 59 years , Lee Do sure has come a long way ! They have been at the current location ( Automobile Megamart ) since 1999 . There isn’t many restaurants in Singapore that specialise in Hock Chew ( aka Fu zhou ) cuisine left. Many know Lee do for their cold crabs and red wine chicken soup . They have much more to offer!
Here’s what we tried for our dinner
🍜 Fried Mee Sua- so flavourful
🥢Claypot tofu - comforting
🍲 Seafood in thick soup
🥦 Scallop With Brocolli- healthy and fresh
🍖 Honey Pork Ribs
🍠 Yam Paste with Gingko nuts - well made and not too sweet !
Such restaurants with rich heritage is worth a visit ! Definitely will bring my mum here to try cold crabs ! One thing I have to say is maybe can update the decor abit
Great service and the food is great. Love the crabs and would definitely be back again.
Each crab is about $60 and honestly quite worth it compared to other restaurants. Great if you are a seafood lover.
This is one place if u want to satisfy your cravings for cold crab - incredibly firm n sweet n of course look at the roe !! Other fantastic dishes include prawn rolls, seafood soup noodles, Hokkien noodles n oooor nee.
Food overall taste is quite OK but portion is a little small. Meat dish is slightly higher in price.
Shop is quite hot as air con is not too strong. Overall atmosphere is consider quite OK. During lunch time is not really crowded. Dish is serve at quite a slow speed.
The cold crabs were delicious. So many roe inside. Noodles were very good as well as the fish head and desserts. Will definitely come back again next time we are in Singapore! Very authentic and delicious foochow food. Friendly staff.
There are not many Foochow restaurants in Singapore. This one has been established a few decades ago.
Wide variety of dishes on the menu, including Teochew dishes.
They are famous for cold crabs. The sharks fin omelette, hae cho, green dragon vegetables, foochow fishball soup, pork ribs, noodle and tau sar pancake are nice too.

🥰3-GENERATIONS LEE DO RESTAURANT SERVING HOCK CHEW (FUZHOU) CUISINE💕
One of the last standing restaurant offering authentic and traditional Fuzhou cuisine since 1964, 50 year old recipes!
…
1. Lee Do Yusheng (CNY special)
2. Claypot Red Wine Chicken Soup 💯
3. Fuzhou Steamed White Cabbage
4. Fragrance Crispy Duck
5. Fuzhou Fried Noodles
6. Yam Paste with Gingko nuts
Authentic Fu Zhou food, have been dining here since young.
If you're looking for unique yet mouthwatering food, this is definitely the place to visit.
We were looking forward to the food so much that we forgot to take photos, but some of their specialty dishes:
- Cold Crab (to reserve in advanced)
- Crispy Fragrant Duck
- Honey Pork Ribs
- Fuzhou Steamed White Cabbage
- Fuzhou Fried Noodles
- Yam Paste
Quick Food Review:
Everyone might be used to 'flavoured' crabs (ie. chili, black pepper, etc) and may think that cold crab would not taste any better, but the true flavour is in the crab when it is served this way.
As a person who does not eat duck, I would crave for the crispy duck here and only eat the duck that is served here, it says something about this dish, doesn't it?
The honey pork ribs is another level of pork ribs as compared to the ones you would normally taste at a zhichar restaurant, eating this dish will make you feel like you're really getting the true pork ribs deal.
You might think that the Fuzhou Steamed White Cabbage is just white cabbage, but this is a dish which reminds me of traditional Chinese New Year dish which my grandparents would cook; simple yet delectable.
Hands down - Fuzhou Fried Noodles is definitely one of the best in Singapore and tastes similar to what you can get in Malaysia!
Lastly, the Yam Paste is one of the best in Singapore, though slightly on the sweeter side, we loved it so much that the bowl was polished clean.
Service was quick and owner is also very personable, came to check with his patrons on the food taste and if there were any feedback we would like to give.
Hope the review will help people who are looking for excellent food and services, this is a place you should visit!
Satisfying early dinner. Noodle and Prawn rolls were very well done. Old style Fuzhou restaurant. Not many remains in Singapore.
If you have visited Automobile Megamart, you would have seen this restaurant before but did you know that this is one of the last standing restaurant offering authentic Fuzhou cuisine? Neither did I!
When it comes to Fuzhou dishes, one of the iconic dishes is Claypot Red Wine Chicken (红槽鸡) and I they serve one of the best I’ve ever eaten!
Using imported Lees (sediment of the fermented red wine paste) directly from Fuzhou, it’s probably why it’s so robust and flavourful.
I love how drinkable the soup is and the chicken is tender, infused with the umami sweetness from the paste.
Another staple for fuzhou cuisine is Fuzhou Fried Noodles and I’m loving how they do theirs.
Unlike your usual zichar stores, this dish takes at least 15 mins to cook because they slowly simmer and allow the noodles to soak in all that delicious “wok-hei”, making it delicious without being too oily.
Eating at this rest brings back nostalgic feeling when I was a child eating at the old place. Food is old school Fuzhou style, enjoyed it !
We ordered lunch delivery (hence I didn't gave a rating for atmosphere) and was very impressed with the taste of the food! We loved the "Red wine chicken soup", Fu Zhou fried noodles and longevity noodles!
Although the crispy duck (a bit salty) and clay pot tofu were not to our taste buds, the other dishes impressed us so much that we are planning to make a trip down to dine at the restaurant to try the Fuzhou steamed cabbage, steam fish head and prawn paste chicken, which would not taste as nice if we ordered delivery again!
It is hard to find good, traditional 紅糟 ("red vinasse") or fermented red wine nowadays, so I really enjoyed the one that Lee Do uses in its famous dishes.
Needless to say, the braised chicken pot was absolutely authentic - even young children love it. The sauce was enough to have on its own with plain rice.
Have not sampled the other specialties like cold crab but will be back for more. Or simply for more 紅糟.
This is an institution by itself. We used to go to the other family owned restaurant on Selegie Road.
The cooking style is a little different from the now defunct Singapura Seafood place. The yam paste for example, doesn’t have the shallot oil. The crispy duck here has a cinnamon taste.
Lee Do is still a great place to go to do traditional dishes. The cold crab is amazingly fresh.
Ate there since they were at Kempas Road. Food standard is very good especially their cold crab. Ate recently at their Ubi branch but the cold crab was a little disappointing due to their size which was small. Luckily the crab was good though.
Cold crab was fantastic, though prices a little steep! The other dishes (Stir fried beef with spring onion, cabbage etc) were decent.
Food is nice. Reasonable price
Fried noodles, red wine chicken soup and yam paste was pretty good! Worth the try! Cold crab was average for me. Overall a pleasant dining experience!
Brought parents back to try a second time. Ordered the red wine chicken soup and it didn't disappoint. We are a Foochow family and whether the red wine chicken can make it or not, we can tell right away. It was thick, fragrant and went v well even if a bowl of plain rice. But the chicken pieces were little.
Ordered the 一品锅 that comes with sea cucumber, abalone and scallop. Pricey for the serving portion but good. The 炒年糕 is good as well with shellfish and lard pieces. Parents and I enjoy it and will definitely go back again for a meal. Hard to find Foochow dishes these days.
......--
Actually this place is not bad at all - I went without much expectations. I am from the Foochow dialect group and would endorse their meat-filled Foochow fishball. it is firm and bouncy, the meat is not so salty unlike the Seow Choon Hwa in Beach Road. We tried the fishball soup, special prawn roll, a 青龙豆芽 stirfry dish and the Foochow noodle. The noodle was too salty but has lotsa lard pieces which you either relish or would leave it out. There was good pieces of shellfish too. Overall, would recommend. We picked up a packet of stuffed fishballs home to cook ourselves. Reasonably priced at 50cents per piece, same price as the Beach Rd competitor.
OG food since I was young. Best cold crab ever eaten. The eggs is thick and creamy from the crab. Very good! Loved this place.
yam paste so far is the best I eat at sg. Fried bee hoon is nice too...
Went there for lunch for a catch-up with old friend. Not much crowd. Service is good, staff was attentive to us and gave good recommendations. Food is not bad, enjoyed the fishball soup. Prices are considered reasonable for restaurants. Will re-visit again.
Takeaway a few dishes today. Ordered the small portion of red yeast chicken tang hoon $14, the amt of tang hoon is indeed small, it was kept in a xs container that I initially tot was for chilli sauce but there are a few big pieces of chicken. The broth was thick and tasty.
Ordered 1 portion of orh nee $4, Kinda shocked by the portion as it is really small. Finished it in a few mouthful which was placed in a container that filled 1/6 of it.
A little disappointed over the portion size for the money paid. 😔
Came for family dinner. Loved the traditional decor. The food, authentic Chinese dishes, was delicious.
Best cold crab in Singapore hands down.
So many more other honorable mentions.
Traditional FooChow food. Easy parking and access. Good service. One of a kind!
Cold crab is still good but the other menus above average only. Need to create another few signature dishes to stay relevant.
Cold crabs were ok but the prawn roils were nice!
Love the chicken soup as well!
Ordered black noodle, best in SG , and also sea cucumber with duck, both are very yummy.
Quality cuisine. Cold crab was awesome except that serving portions are small.
Small treat for ourselves after a long day hunting for car for our family
Food are quite good yet affordable
Good hakka food. Historical establishment set in an industrial area
Cold crab are fresh. Love the fried sweet and sour fish! 😋
Not so crowded after 1pm and some dishes such as the ribs are good
Super underrated restaurant! Love the food and have been eating here for more than a decade.
Cold Crab and Orh Nee is a must!!
Price is slightly on the high side. But having it once in a while is okay! 😁
Cold crab is the bomb.
Definitely recommend
Love the steam cild crab, super yummy
Good Foochow food especially cold crab
Food is decent and good, unfortunately not that much business
Good food
Best cold crab
Excellent!
Great taste
Singapore is famous for its chili crab, but I prefer the cold crab here. Your hands won't get dirty and you can eat smartly. After that, the delicious thing is Yakisoba. This is indescribably delicious.
Garupa (fish) was also delicious!
Lido Restaurant is located next to Bemei Bus Mall. It's a Chinese restaurant. Wedding banquets or gatherings can be held. There are special dishes. Mainly cold crab. Reasonable prices and convenient parking.
A restaurant with a long history and many specialties. You must try the frozen crab, it’s so delicious!
Personally, I prefer this cold crab to the chili crab.
It's a restaurant you'll want to eat at again.
Crab flavor. I think this is better than chili crab❗
If you are after authentic Fuchow food, this is place. Price is very reasonable and staffs are friendly
