Reviews of Omoté
Had an amazing time at Omote with all the devious Japanese cuisine.
Portions were super big for everything, from the bowls to the soft shell chilli? crab dish. 1 bowl can feed two small eaters.
You can taste the fresh ingredients with every bite.
Prawn soup tasted like a nice bowl of prawn noodle.
Cocktails were ok.
Dishes were a little too salty for my taste.
No plain water served.
Friendly service staff, talk a bit too fast.
We spend a total of $130 for 2 bowls, 1 chilli crab, 1 soup and 2 drinks. Well worth it.
Super long queue, place an online reservation to skip the line.
The staff is very welcoming and helpful.
The good variation would be good if they cater for more on one would have dietary restriction like gluten free or vegan.
They have great variety and bundle meal of the charashi. The charashi is good. I had also the maze soba. It taste not bad but a bit dry and could been better if there is more sauce.
Place is cozy with big crowd. Would recommend to make reservation.
Food was great especially the noodles. The charashi was good too! However, the soft shell crab was a bit disappointing. Not much flavour..
Overall a good experience and a chill place for couples and family.
I recently visited Omote and had the pleasure of trying their delicious cheesecake. It was absolutely divine! Not only was the food amazing, but the service provided by Maria was exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure our experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and fantastic service!"
We ordered the Upsize Charashi and Omote Charashi (with set). The quality has remained consistent over the years, although the portions have shrunk while prices have increased. It's a safe choice if you're looking for quality Charashi.
The food is great. Must go for the sashimi bowl. Very fresh. Atmosphere, still alright, because too crowded. Noisy. Service is not good enough. Drinks take multiple turns to serve. Simple beer in bottle took long to arrive, mid way good servings. Others green tea have already served a long time ago. Reminded staff, but jmpatient told me to wait. Bad service.
Sushi are taste but Don are very flat in taste. Can say tasteless, beef slices are tasteless, and the rice is like not fully cooked. Some of the waitresses' attitudes are not so good. A black uniform waitress is in a better manner than a white uniform waitress. Prices are on the high side. They don't serve warm water, for me that's very basic to serve plain water.
The small front of the restaurant at a corner of level 2 of Thomson Plaza, belies the large space inside. There is a good selection of Japanese food such as sashimi, sushi, tempura, various bento and donburis. Selected the oyster shooters and mentaiko sushi which were terrific appetitizers. The upsized chirashi did not disappoint with a larger portion of fresh sashimi. The dry bak cho ramen however, was a tard too salty and the pork too fatty
Truffle chirashi don was special and fresh. Tempura don was so so. Chawanmushi was smooth and comforting! The grape kyoho drink was very meh and not worth $7. All in all the food was nice but overpriced. You can get similar satisfaction at friendlier price points in Sushiro too.
The ambience and services were great, and the portions were generous - we certainly need to remind ourselves not to over order next time we return here.
The truffle chawanmushi was super delicious. The pork in the butadon simply melted in the mouth. The vanilla ice cream ran out and had the choice of going with the sea salt flavour instead for the Afagato - it was a surprisingly good combination.
A premium and enjoyable experience as always. Worth returning.
Saw the food blog by one SG Japanese blogger and immediately reserve table online. Expectations were high but reality was some hits and misses.
The drinks are nice and most of the dishes are above average. The misses are the crispy chili crab which is just nice but was rated best by the blogger. The unacceptable was the fishy salmon belly and the hard to chew rice. Consider the price tag, I felt the quality should be much better.
The food should be a 3.5 stars the other half is their prompt & polite service staffs.
Used to be a favourite for family gatherings, where food prices then were pretty reasonable then. Went back twice recently as son loves their chirashi. I was rather disappointed as the food wasn’t as good as before, however i would say it is still your to go place if you are looking for chirashi bowls. They are probably the one one who can give you the most variations of chirashi don and donburi.
The food is really great.
Saikoro ribeye beef and Swordfish butteryaki are soft and very fragrant. Roasted dry garlic ma-ze udon is also a dish you should eat. And I really like Snow crab tapas, wild hamachi tartlets, oh my god it's soft, the feeling of eating it melts in your mouth and you will feel its deliciousness.
The space is clean, service is quite fast, no need to wait long. I will definitely come back 🥰
Authentic Japanese food with quality ingredients and generous portions.
Definitely a place to visit again.
Their specialty is Chirasu.
The Tokyo Gyu Don is delicious.
Also had their Booster Salmon Chirasu and Salmon Metaiko
Service was fast, and staff were also responsive.
While they seemed in a rush, they were not rude, very patient and polite.
Went on a Thurs afternoon, surprisingly managed to get seats as it is usually packed.
Service: attentive and friendly.
Atmosphere: Conducive with the right lighting for diners.
Food: ordered the spicy pork don with addons of the premium lunch set. Serving was so generous that i was overfilled.
Slightly overpriced but it had justified itself why it is so crowded all the time with its quality of food. Will go again definitely. 👍👍👍
We definitely over ordered! Full to the max with all the goodness~
Lobster Hokkien Mee and Prawn Ramen were very savoury.
The Chirashi Bowl were just full of fleshly, thick cut sashimi cubes.
Swordfish butteryaki and KingPrawn mentaiyaki from the seasonal menu were great, too!
Servers are very friendly and bubbly, and we feel very welcoming!
Will be back to try the other items from the menu~

We're not new customers here.
We appreciate the exceptional experience we had at your restaurant today. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately set the tone for a delightful afternoon.
1 must commend the staff for their impeccable service. Each member of the team went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of with utmost professionalism and genuine attentiveness. Their knowledge of the menu, coupled with their friendly demeanor, made me feel truly valued as a customer.
I will not hesitate to recommend Omote to friends, family, and colleagues seeking an exceptional dining experience.
Really like their Chirashi which is chock full of fresh sashimi and well worth the price. They take reservations, so book ahead to avoid disappointment
Came back again and ordered the large sashimi platter. You can choose your sashimi that you want on the platter, including ottoro and uni. Good selection and well worth it iinstead or order wing sashimi plates individually.
Amazing place hands down. Super busy but it does not bring down the quality of the food as well as the experience. Staff was very patient as we ponder over what we want to eat.
As you can tell, the portions are huge. So do not over order. Fish bowls here are really fresh, so I would suggest that rather than the other dons (eg. Beef…).
Highly recommend the foie gras👍👍👍!
a really nice place with quality food! def the best restaurant at thompson plaza. the staff are really friendly and helpful as well ☺️ highly recommend the tempura. usually the dipping sauce is cold, but here they heat up the sauce and the difference it made was shocking! it tasted so good!
Omote located in Thomson Plaza serve authentic Japanese cuisine with a fine touch of its version.
They offer various sushi, don, fusion Japanese food. Often packed during lunch and dinner. The lunch is worth it because you can top up. There are four types (premium, deluxe, sashimi and ladies set). The premium offers 7 addition(Chawanmushi, Mentaiyaki Gyoza, salmon sashimi, Japanese salad, hot appetizer, cold appetizer and miso soup).
Staff are overall friendly and prompt. Only the hot green tea($2.50) is refillable.
Affordable and yet generous I highly recommend this place to everyone.
Food is very good. Fresh and succulent. The pricing is very affordable for the quality. Highly recommended. Everything seemed to be of certain quality. Service was fantastic. Ambiance can be a little noisy. Very popular and therefore you will have to be prepared to queue if walking in. Parking should be relatively easy. Store is at the corner of the mall and very easy to miss as the signage isn't that prominent.
Nice joint around the neighbourhood which I never knew. Big and spacious dine-in area. You can easily make reservations online or just join the Q which didn’t take that long on a Sunday evening around 7pm.
Food was beyond expectation. Having said that it was spacious and can accommodate many hungry tummies, please be patient in waiting for your food. Not for the already super hungry tummies in terms of waiting time.
But I guarantee you, you will be happy with the food!
We ordered takeaway and had such a great meal together with our friends! We really enjoyed the gyozas and beef dons - so incredibly flavourful. They are also generous with their portions and we definitely had a good dinner.
We also tried the clams side-dish that were filled with the aroma of garlic but it was a little too sweet for our liking. The salmon belly ikura don was decent, with nice cuts, but it was definitely on the pricier side. We averaged out to around $35/pax for the items we ordered.
Will visit their physical store soon to try out other dishes.
Supersized sashimi bowl suitable for 3 pax.
Squid was dry & with sweet and sour sauce. Suitable for those who like this Thai flavours.
Price is on the pricier side. Service was good though.
the grilled pork belly was heavenly - melts in the mouth and flavourful. chirashi was great too. tori karaage tasted like store bought frozen ones. price is very reasonable for most items.
Warm ambient.
Ingredients are fresh.
Pricing easily $40-50 incl gst & service charge
First time tried before covid and just got time to try again now. The taste is consistently still good. Always come for their chiraishi bowl.
They give plenty meat, price wise ok, service pretty fast. I came in for lunch on weekend, already reserve and can come in immediately.
All the seafood is pretty fresh but not really recommend:
- their spicy salmon (too spicy for me and not quite balance).
- upsize chiraishi (the portion is defo too big for 1 person but not enough if u want to share for 2 persons )
This is the best Japanese meal I've had in the longest time. The staff were super efficient. The food was fresh and high quality. I'd heard about it from my adult sons and daughter. But I took my time because of the long queues earlier. Worth coming back!
Located at the top floor of Novena Square, the place goes much deeper, very spacious and has seating for all types - even for larger groups of 6 above. The higher price is returned as higher quality ingredients and pleasant atmosphere and service. Good place for kids and family 👍
Food & Price: ordered prawn ramen ($19.80), omote chirashi don ($12.80) and topped up a premium set ($8.80) with many side dishes. Everything was good, fresh and delicious! very value for money.
Ambience: great for a date or family meal. not too noisy.
Service: friendly staff.
highly recommended and will return. but do make reservation before heading down as it seems to always have long queue.
I have been wanting to have a go at their food, seeing many rave reviews by YouTubers and recommendation by friends. Recently there is a new opening at Raffles City, but I decided to visit their Flagship Thomson outlet instead. I really enjoyed the few dishes I ordered. I especially like the Chargrilled Butadon. Not only the serving is so generous, the grilled pork belly is so aromatic, tender and juicy. It would be great if the rice can be more fluffy and soft though. I will head to the Raffles City outlet for the next visit.
Ordered upsides chirashi, oysters, and wagyu, everything is really good. The beef was really good and truffle serving was very generous! One of the better chirashi avaliable and the portion is amazing.
We came again the next day. And is still good.
For its price, Omoté boasts an extensive menu with delicious food ranging from their sides to the main chirashi dons that will leave you feeling satiated. It is perhaps best experienced with company so you get to try more things. The soy chirashi IMO was a lot better than the OG chirashi but i was delighted by the quality and standard of the sashimi. The potato salad, pitan tofu and asari clams boasted a punch of flavours! The mazesoba was also hefty in its ingredients and the noodles delightfully chewy! However, the tempura platter was mediocre so i would probably skip it. There is definitely something here for everyone. Will recommend & will definitely return. Reservations are a must as they were packed out even on a random Thursday night.
Their salmon belly ikura don is so awesome. Every piece of salmon is so fresh and flavorful. Come at lunch time for the top up of premium set - only $8.80 for all the side dishes including chawanmusi!!
There's usually quite a long walk-in queue so it will be more convenient to make a reservation before you come. You can only start to make reservations two weeks prior to your intended visit.
I like the ambience when first entered the restaurant, it is cozy and colorful wallpaper added more points and also feels more appetizing. The menu was well elaborated and easy to refer to for order. As it’s our first time there and I asked for help for recommendations and the friendly staff has done a good job! Look at what we ordered for 2 ladies and 1 teen’s portion appetite, just nice and right. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The food are not only good looking but taste good as well. I will definitely come back to try more stuff. Tempura next time? Hopefully no new to queue for long.
Came cos the bear looks so friendly and inviting! Quality delicious chirashi bowls and refreshing cocktails! Enjoyed the meal especially the carbs isn't as much as usual bowls. Would return to try other stuff from the relatively big menu.
One of the better places for good Japanese fare in Singapore. (but $$)
🍚 Omoté Chirashi is good, well marinated and rice is well seasoned. Some ingredients still taste fishy, saved by the sauce.
🐟 Triple Salmon Bowl also good, note the slices of salmon are super thin, so good pairing with rice but not so if you're expecting sashimi thickness.
Portions seem relatively small for their prices (rice:chirashi ratio sligjtly sad), so not very value for money. But hey its Singapore 🇸🇬
Thanks to the opening of the TEL MRT line. I would never have visited Thomson Plaza. This place is a revelation! Will surely come again!
The King of Chirashi. The salmon was of high quality. Even the chicken karrage was nicely done. Crispy on the outside and succulent inside. Sedap!
There was about 5 groups in front of me on weekday evening even before the place opened. Dishes were tasty but portions were small. Won't be back as not value for money, but won't mind going back if a friend or family wants to check the place out.
Located at a corner of Thomson Plaza, there is always a long queue. It's best to make a reservation online as there are two queues - one for reservations and the other for walk-in which would require a longer waiting time. The restaurant is spacious with many seats. Many food varieties of don and side dishes to share. Good that there is an option to add a few dollars for topping up to a set lunch meal.
We ordered Upsized Chirashi Don ($30 after GST) and Salmon Booster Chirashi don ($37 after GST) and topped both to a sashimi set, which came with a miso soup, salad, and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. It was very filling and the presentation of food was good.
The salmon sashimi from the Salmon Booster Chirashi were good and fresh but the salmon sashimi from the top up sashimi set pales in comparison.
Both the dons came with ikura and an assortment of marinated cubed sashimi - salmon, tuna, squid, etc. It was nice but because of the marination, the cubed sashimi was covered with too much sweetness and sauce so we got sick of the taste after a while. I'd prefer my sashimi without so much marination to taste its freshness.
Overall, it's a nice place to try out a different kind of Chirashi don.
Fresh sashimi. The portion of chirashi don is pretty substantial. Nice decor. Pricing is reasonable.
Reservations are hard to get. Need to book around 2 weeks in advance. Walk in queue is usually very long during meal times.
Advance booking for dinner is better
Food is damn nice
Portion wise is huge
Especially the wagyu and foie gras
It melt in your mouth
Worth the $$$ spend here
Loved their truffle garlic rice bowl with the well balanced mix of truffle and garlic taste that goes well with the rice, topped with fresh sashimi!
Both the chargrilled iberico black pork and the Kurobuta Shogayaki Don had the torched flavour with melt-in-mouth fats but not everyone would appreciate such texture in contrast with those fats that can feel the bite.
The grilled yellowtail cheek varies in quality. The first time was fresh and juicy but the 2nd time we ordered had a slight fishy smell with tougher meat as compared with the first time.
Nice ambient when stepped into the restaurant. Good thing that we reached early on a Friday evening as walk in and queue was starting to build.
A modem Japanese restaurant setting. A bit noisy, not sure if it’s contributed by the loud music played.
Food quality is considered good.
Black truffle tako karaage does not have much of truffle taste but the tako is very fresh and juicy. Price wise is high for this probably it’s tako with slices of truffle.
Prawn ramen is very good. Soup is very tasty and full of umami flavor. However a bit salty at the end. Prawn is fresh and succulent . Price is reasonable for this.
Grilled Unagi chirashi serving looks small however topped with fresh chucks of sashimi and grilled unagi, surprisingly it’s quite filling. Again the price for this seems reasonable considering today’s inflation.
Worth a try if not visited yet. Recommended to make a reservation to avoid the walk in queue.
A must visit for chirashi lovers! Absolutely recommend the Classic Strip Steak that was so juicy and flavorful. Prompt and friendly service crew, felt very welcomed
Best to reserve before visiting to avoid long waiting time in the queue. most well known for its chirashidon and kaisendon, tamagoyaki chirashidon is beautifully presented, with lightly torched mentaiko. Truffle chawamushi, teriyaki Don and spinach are nice too. Food apart, the service is very fast, food arrives within 15mins after placing order. The table wares and crockeries are made of porcelains with nice designs. It makes the place feels more atas but price is reasonable, and food is good. Would recommend this place for anyone looking for cheap and good Japanese food.
Very flavorful chirashi and donburi bowls. It's easy to understand why so many people come to queue, and so many popular reviewers like sethlui, timeout and tatler write so positively about this place.
We ordered and really enjoyed the chirashi bowl, spicy yakiniku bowl and grilled saba fish.
Also, we liked the very speedy service and the lively ambience coming from the upbeat music and colorful decorations.
Staff are very good. Food serving is fast. I love the classic beef. Chirashi sashmi udon set normal size is good enough. The bbq squid tastes good too.
Food was great
Service was great too
Will sure come again!
Fresh food
Visited this Restaurant near to their mid-day closing time of 1.30pm. We had to leave by 2pm. Ordered their Grilled Unagi Chirashi and Salmon Ikura Don Premium Set.
Premium Set was worth it - it came with Miso Soup, Salmon, Chawanmushi, Salad, Gyoza and Tofu.
Salmon Ikura Don came with generous serving of Salmon and Ikura and Grilled Unagi Chirashi came with Ika, Tuna, Salmon, Tobiko and 4 slices of long Unagi. Rice was a bit too soaked with the Teriyaki Sauce. Other than that, everything was fresh, tender and nice.
You may want to keep the Bear Mascot design which seems to change on regular basis.
Decent food. I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere the place provides. Great place to catch up with friends. Might be more economical to share an upsized chirashi bowl than to buy individual.
Celebrating boy's(a.k.a my dad) 67th birthday at Omote. He chose this place.
Thank goodness we made reservation if not would have to wait for some time in the Q.
PS: do make your reservations.
We arrived at 1130am and was ushered to our table. In less than 5 mins, restaurant was half filled.
There were many service staff around and all were dressed smart casually. Ladies were in buttoned white top with black bottom while men were in black tee with a black blazer over and black bottom. Staff were observant, efficient and polite.
Family of 3, we ordered:
1. A bottle of Asahi beer
2. Truffle Uni Oshi Nori
3. Superstar Lobster Maki
4. Tokyu style Rack of Lamb
5. Umami Soy Chirashi
Overall food was of good quality, nicely done but I personally felt that the sauces can be overpowering that it has masked the original flavour of the sashimi in the rice bowl or in the Maki. Seasoned lightly will do much justice.
Total damage: $112.05
We made a reservation for 6 pax about one week ahead for Sat 5.30pm timing. There was already two queues - one for those with reservations and the other one for walk - in customers.
Competent service. Clean and comfortable ambience. Very fresh sesame and Felipe's taste. However, the good points for me end here. We paid S$118 for 3 bowls of food and 3 cups of green tea. It cost about S$40 per head. I find it very expensive and serving size highly unsatisfying. I left Omote not feeling full enough.
I also wonder why they choose to puny bowls to contain the food. On these small bowls, the serving size looked miserably small. I am not likely to return.
The staffs are friendly. The portion of the food is just nice. Can try others.
On 16/09/2023, meet friends for dinner. Is an awesome meal. Friendly staff too. The ambience is great too.
I highly recommend the Tokyo Gyu Don. It has a giant mound of beef stewed in onions and sweet soy sauce atop another gigantic mound of rice. I would describe the ratio of ingredients to rice as 1:1, which is hardly ever present here in SG. We asked for less rice but there seemed to be no difference from the usual portion. We asked for less sauce but the grains of rice quickly got quite slimy and wet when the onsen egg got mixed in. It was a very satisfying bowl though, with shichimi served on the side and flaked nori.
We ordered the steak as a main to be eaten on its own. It shouldn't be, as this isn't done western style. The meats were heavily seasoned, with a decadent taste of garlic, sweet soy sauce and mustard. The saffron-looking garnish is not saffron, probably safflower or something. It lends the dish an appetizing aesthetic but nothing else.
Indulged in the Spicy Lobster Triple Chirashi, which came to a reasonable $29.48.
It was my first time trying this dish, and I was pleasantly surprised! The minced spicy lobster added a delightful twist to the familiar chirashi. I highly recommend giving it a try!
3.5 stars mainly for the value offered.
-Bara chirashi bowl have deteriorated from before. Ordered the upsized portion, in the picture below. The taste profile of the dish did not make the cut, you will not taste the freshness nor sweetness of the original fish meat.
-ordered a pork slices and salad dish. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this dish :X. the pork slices are those you normally dip into a steamboat.
-garlic yakiniku don , acceptable taste.
Somehow I enjoyed omote (erstwhile sushiro) significantly more in the past when they were a humble little eatery. While the distinctive long queue remains unchanged, the food no longer enchants me.
We finally had the long awaited omote! Managed to skip the extremely long queue on a weekend by booking the earliest slot online. We had the garlic beef lunch set ($19.80 + $8 top up for set) and the omote chirashi ($12.80). Really loved the pairing between the crispy garlic chips with the caramelised tender beef slices. Would highly recommend getting the set as it’s quite worth it with extra sashimi slices and chawanmushi. The chirashi was slightly disappointing as the fish weren’t very fresh. However it’s really one of more affordable chirashi around. Remember to make a reservation before heading there or be prepared to queue for at least 20 mins! 😂
Overall experience was okay only. We felt very rushed during dinner service. Secondly, some of the dishes came out too salty like their beef, xo garlic fried rice, soy chirashi... Sashimi platter was good but have eaten better for the price paid .
I've dined at Omote several times, but my recent lunch experience at the Thomson Plaza location was disappointing.
The male staff member, Zhun, was unclear when explaining that gyoza was out of stock and would be replaced with fried chicken.
I requested an alternative, perhaps some extra slices of salmon, since my main dish was already fried chicken. He said he'd get back to me, but never did.
My dish arrived with an extra tuna dish instead. When I tried to get Zhun's attention, he ignored me. After I got the attention of another staff, zhun suddenly stepped in and offered me the same solution - fried chicken.
When it arrived, the replacement dish was a single piece of Karaage chicken, which was cold. I hope Omote will improve their communication and service.
Omoté surprised me with its food quality and ambience.
Upsized chirashidon($19.80) was packed with seasoned chopped salmon, tuna, prawn, squid.
It has a generous portion of seafood.
Premium sashimi speaks for itself. Excellent👌🏻👌🏻
Customer service is great too.
The salmon teriyaki don is a bit too sweet. Somehow felt the taste is not the same as previous. Sashimi is pretty fresh, upsize portion is quite big
A group of 5 of us headed to Omote after my sister made a reservation for dinner at 6 pm. (P.S.: I would strongly recommend that you make a reservation after seeing the snaking queue outside the restaurant.) Here is the list of foods that we ordered: (Note: I did not manage to take pictures of all the foods as I was too busy eating them)
- King Snapper Carpaccio (very refreshing appetiser)
- Chawanmushi (recommended by my sister)
- Seared Gyoza (surprisingly good as it has a nice 'char' yet is not too oily)
- Deluxe Salmon Sashimi Moriawase (fresh thick slices of salmon and salmon belly)
- Superstar Lobster roll (recommended by the waiter taking our order)
- Two Oshi Nori: Spicy Gyu and Chargrilled Unagi (both delicious)
- Barbeque Saba Fillet (nicely done)
- Salmon Booster Chirashi and Upsized Chirashi (the portion are huge)
- Spicy Yakiniku Don and Chargrilled Butadon (once again, the portion is generous)
- 'Char' Yaki Udon (also well done)
Overall, I can see why they are so popular as the foods are great, they have decent portion sizes and service is prompt. I definitely would return.
One of the best Japanese restaurants I've dined at! Flavourful, wholesome, and heart-warming. The mentaiko sushi is literally one of the best. Their beef don is bursting with meat - I couldn't even finish it.
The only down side is the huge price tag (but you got to pay for the quality, so no complaints here), and the poor queue management - I made a reservation but arrived 15 mins earlier but was denied entry and told to come back at the exact time...
We went for seafood but we're stunned by their beef. Beef was really good, it looks like they are cooking it over charcoal. Seafood is good as well. Highly recommend it!
Very nice atmosphere. Good service and the most important is great sushi! The menu is good! Everything is just delicious! Keep up! Highly recommended!
Yummy bowls topped with portions of protein at reasonable price points. Starters were on the pricier side. The fried chilli crab was an interesting local twist, combining soft shell crabs with the Singaporean chilli crab sauce. Gravy was nice and thick, but packs a serious punch (tho the staff said it was sweet when asked if it was spicy). Nice ambience, attentive staff, overall good experience.
Nice chirashi. Fish tasted fresh and covered in soy sauce.
Comfortable seating.
Visited during weekday lunch time and managed to get a place immediately shortly after opening.
The interior is wide and spacious with a view to the open kitchen and bar. The colourful paintings are especially eye catching. The only slight disharmony in my opinion is the music from the 2000s playing in the background.
Overall standard of service was fast and efficient. It would be better if all the food were served together or within a reasonably short time.
The food was good but my only gripe is the portion - it is way too big, at least for me. Perhaps having an option for a smaller serving size will be welcome.
Anyway, would definitely be back to try out the other dishes!
Ordered the chirashi don, chawanmushi, chicken skin and tataki beef.
The chirashi don was smaller than expected. And the swordfish is not that fresh.
The chawanmushi is really flavourful and silky.
Chicken skin was ok. Would be nicer if it’s grilled for a little longer.
The beef was ok. Smaller than expected.
Food was good but not spectacular. The table for two was a little small but it worked. I personally enjoyed Omoté a lot when I had ordered it for delivery sometime back but this time it was just alright. I wouldn’t travel down to Thomson just for it but if I happen to be in the area, I would definitely pop by if I was craving Japanese food.
Finally got to try the food here after many attempts to reserve a table …
Despite reservation. , one still need to queue at “reservation queue “ to be seated , though it’s quite fast to be ushered to your table .
Food is not bad , I would say more decent than I expected . So, it’s recommended.
Would say it is on the pricier side but still somewhat affordable, and is quite crowded so there can be some queuing up. However the food was pretty good, and was of decent quality. Tasty! The menu is also quite extensive and the ambiance is nice 👍🏻
Cosy ambience with low dimmed lighting and artistic backgrounds. Ordered the kamegazr dry break udon. Food was really good with plentiful beef portion, which was thick and fresh, albeit pricey. Service was good and prompt. But have to book a reservation in advance, tend to be crowded during lunch or dinner periods.
one of the best japanese restaurant around. i don’t like raw things but i enjoyed their chirashi. this explains the queue!
Been a huge fan of Omote for the longest time since they were at Thomson Plaza downstairs 🥲 but this time round the Upsized Chirashi Bowl I had was incredibly slimy and 100% not fresh. It looks perfectly fine, but when I was having the first few bites, there was a layer of slime all over it and a sourish taste. Didn’t finish it, felt like wasted my money. We were literally in and out of the restaurant in less than half an hour lol. Very disappointed as all these years I’ve been patronising and supporting them but I guess they’ve gotten complacent with their quality control and hygiene.
People have been recommending this place to me, but really, it’s nothing to shout about. Sure, they’re known for their reasonably priced donburi, but with small portions and mediocre-tasting toppings, it’s a classical case of “you get what you pay for”. Plus they don’t even serve water :-(
The best of the lot was probably the unatama don - a piece of unagi slathered generously in thicc sweet sauce atop a bed of nicely seasoned otakodon. The unagi was pretty fresh, though the same cannot be said of the chirashi don...while edible, I’ve had fresher & more “spring-y” cuts.
The boringest and most meh dish was the chicken teriyaki katsudon. I can probably get something of that standard for half the price at yoshinoya. Bleurgh! Sushi rice was consistently tasty across all three donburi bowls which is a plus point.
Also, they’re absurdly rigid when it comes to being seated - similar to another reviewer’s experience, they didn’t let us in just because one of our party was in the washroom...like cmon it’s just 6pm and your restaurant is 1/3rd filled with customers...just let me sit inside and order already...
Staff were attentive and even helped picked up my father's wallet on the floor. Cosy ambience although it would be great if brighter. Food simply oishii. The staff were quick and cheerful when distributing side plates for our birthday celebration. Really appreciated their kindness.
Amazing food. Sushi bowl are quite affordable and filling. Worth the money, make sure you book, the lines are usually long
Always good food and service. 👍🏻Been going here for years. Queue is always long but moves quick.even got queue walk in we just wait less than 15min

Delicious, good service
Delicious donburi, affordable prices and very fast service 😊
Super fast and good service. Delicious and portion size just right.
Yet another visit to this great restaurant. As we were eating in this time, I tried the dry ramen. It was fantastic! Will definitely have it again. The black pig pork belly was melt in your mouth.
Feb 2024: tried the dry ramen - bak Chor mee ramen and the pork belly spicy ramen. The spicy one was yum!!! The bak Chor mee one not so cos it was quite salty.
Dec 2024: another visit and tried the pork ramen again! Yum yum yum.
Jan 2025: quick dinner again. Was good. Tried for the first time the katsudon. Thick pork slices yet juicy. Yum
Feb 2025: was hoping to order thier spicy ramen but saw that it’s taken off the menu!! Sad. They only have the udons now. Tried the mentaiko egg chirashi don this time and it was fabs too!
