Reviews of Pearl Hill Garden Restaurant
Jul 2024: 2 visits in a month! One for dinner and one for lunch. Food was tasty and service great. There’s also free parking on premise. Under rated Chinese restaurant which is great for family meals. There’s also a karaoke room for guests on private room. Dishes had theatrics like dry ice and fire! The kids love it and adults too!
Nov 2024: yet another visit and this time with a larger group. The dim sum portions are large so no need to get double portions. Better to have variety than double portions.
Dec 2024: another visit and tried more of their meats. Delicious.
Tips below 👇
I recently visited Pearl Hill Garden Restaurant for a family gathering, and it was quite the experience!
The food was a mix of good and average, but the highlights definitely made up for it. Some dishes were beautifully presented with cold ice and smoke, adding a touch of magic to our meal. ✨
The service staff were clearly overwhelmed during the busy period, but they really put in the effort to make sure we were taken care of.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Here are a few tips for your visit:
- Be Patient: The restaurant can get quite busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.
- Try the Special Dishes: Look out for the dishes with unique presentations - they add a fun and memorable touch to your meal.
- Make a Reservation: To avoid long wait times, it's a good idea to book a table in advance, especially during holidays and weekends.
Happy dining! 🍽️🌸
First time try. All the dishes were very delicious! Service was great too! Only managed to take a few photos as was busy eating and chatting. The fish is called 长寿鱼. In English is Orange Roughy. It’s a deep sea fish. The fish we ate was about 80 years old! Apparently, Orange Roughy lives until about 150 years old. And don’t be deceived by the external appearance. The fish meat was really tender!
👍👍👍
Location: Ulu Ulu hasn’t known about this place as the restaurant requires a drive up a hill. It’s not location friendly. But people who know know.
Food: some delicious dishes I can recall,
- 香煎夢ト糕 Pan Fried Carrot Cake
- 松露鹑蛋烧卖 Truffle Quail Egg Siew Mai
- Imperial Lychee Prawn Ball
- Steamed Fish Paste Dumpling
- Fish Skin with Vegeponics Ice Plant
- Shark Fin Soup
- Crab
- Iberico Black Pork Char Siew
Service: Friendly staff at service. Local parking space available but limited.
Atmosphere: It’s old style restaurant look and feel in the 90s.
Overall: Immerse yourself into food of art as you get to visually see their unique presentation before tasting. 😊
What a dinning experience! Great presentation and unique food style which is more local traditional taste and the ambience was an upgraded old school Chinese Restaurant. Missed the good old days of big family gathering at Chinese restaurant for birthday and wedding celebration. Price is also very reasonable for the quality. Food quantity was generous and had to taobao a whole chicken back. $60/pax
Hidden gem in central part of the island. Very reasonable prices and though location is not easily accessible by public transport, there’s free parking and ambience is warm and inviting, even nostalgic! Chef really believes we eat with our eyes before eating with our mouths! The effort put in for food presentation is commendable. Dishes are very well executed- not too salty or oily - simply delicious ! Highly recommended for young and old , business or family or any celebration indeed! Really value for money and worth making the trip there.
A traditional chinese restaurant setting. Able to accommodate a large group of 13 person in the same table with a large lazy susan. BYOB with no corkage charge which is really good.. We brought 6 and finished 5.
The only downside is the location.
Shunfeng Villa offers novel takes on standard dim sum with mixed but overall positive results. High marks for creativity as many of their signature items (grouper dumpling, crispy spinach rice roll, signature cheese tart, prawn and petal with sambal dumpling) you’re unlikely to find elsewhere. Standard dishes were hit and miss. The chili dumplings had very chewy skin, deep fried coconut balls- I wished we had ordered a few more servings.
Service staff were very friendly, through overall not well coordinated (side dishes were not changed, daily specials shared after the group had already ordered, random sales person trying to sell prepackaged food as we were getting into the meal).
There’s potential here for an out of the ordinary dim sum place, that I really want to root for (and more importantly return to soon).
Have been here a few times. Food does not disappoint - the quality and portion is good for the price, and prices are also reasonable. Have included food photos from my most recent visit - highlight would be the hei chou and the opal leaf vermicelli. 7 dishes cost us $165. Location is not the most accessible - it is not near the mrt, but there is a bus stop with a staircase that leads directly to the restaurant. Staff are nice, but they are quite understaffed so it will take some time for them to attend to your needs.
A restaurant with its own parking area which is convenient. Nice cosy restaurant with many rounded tables and service was generally good. Food presentation was nice and creative. Nice food and wide selection of dessert and I ordered the coconut with ice cream. Nice experience.
We tried their Tim sum. The glutinous rice wrap is our favourite followed by the chicken feet. The otah dumplings are unique and the fried dishes are not oily. Food wise had a good experience but the aircon seems like not functioning well. Was sweating badly. Can’t imagine if we’re eating steamboat there.
My dinning experience was amazing. The restaurant is clean and the service was great. For the food, the dishes were very savoury especially their pamelo. The restaurant has an aesthetic look.
Was brought to this place after seeing a tiktok video. Didnt have any expectation of the place initially.
Place was clean, spacious and cosy. Comes with free parking as well.
Staff were super friendly, hope that it will stay this way after more people find out this place. Service were prompt and attentive.
Then, i was blown away. Food is a solid 10. Always went to red***r or similiar dimsum restaurant, but after eating here i think this is my go to place for dimsum. The choices are not as many, but each and every of the items i ordered were delicious. Presentation was super nice as well!!
In short, just try it to know it.
Other than the dim sum, the hotpot soup was surprisingly good too. Abalone chicken soup was like actual collagen soup, like those brasied shark fin soup feel. The ingredients in the soup were very very fresh and good.
Will definitely be back with friends and family. Worth a visit to try and you wont regret it!
Was invited by a friend to dine there! It was a restaurant located at the top of the hill, the parking is easy and plentiful! We ordered dim sums and steamboat! The soup base that we chosen were "buddha jump over the wall" and "Laska". The "buddha jump over the wall" is not those MSG soup, but full of ingredients such as abalone and ginseng! You will not get thirsty after drinking bowls of soup! The laska was so intense after cooking all the fresh ingredients. We had a some laska noodle as a grand finale to end the steamboat. I liked most of the fresh ingredients, sliced black pork, handmade meat ball- must ordered, live prawns- big and fresh, cuttlefish balls etc. The dim sums were very good and sizeable! I highly recommend this restaurant who wants to try the local steamboat (they also have mala soup) and dim sums!
I have called and whatapps 2 days then got staff answer my call and manage to book the table.
Dimsum: the taste normal and suitable for take photo ,very instagramable. The blue fish dumpling not nice...only for photos
Steamboat: Buddha jump soup ok, not super fantastic kind. They mayb put the vegatable in fridge too long..abit black colour..not fresh.
If never try before then can try but won't come back 2nd time. Many restaurant dim sum better than here.
Came here for brunch with some friends. They have some very nice & unique dimsum. The service is good & the restaurant is clean.
Absolutely loved the experience! The promotion was fantastic, and the atmosphere really added to the charm. The food was exceptional, making it perfect for family get-togethers. Not to mention, the dishes were incredibly Instagram-worthy.!
Highly recommend! The food were delicious! The abalone chicken soup steamboat is a must try! Tim Sums delicious!

This place
Exceptional food, and very pleasant staff despite being obviously stressed and short handed. Was a long wait before our food came, and 10-45mins into waiting we were told across three occasions during that time period that various items were out of stock. By then we didn’t want to make any additional substitute orders as we didn’t want the wait to be extended even longer. Our drinks also never came, so halfway through our meal we had them cancelled. It’s clear the gears aren’t oiled yet, but on the account of the food and the lovely staff we’ll be back - managing our expectations the next time around and hopefully they’ll sort out their system soon.
Humbled to have experienced high quality, tasty dim sum. Exec Chef creations are detailed and at the benchmark of Mott. Service staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Hurry to try out this restaurant before it gets crowded. A hidden gem.
Booked this place on Mother's day for 9 pax through WhatsApp confirmation but went there and found out that they did not capture my reservation. Manager blamed the so-called "outsourced booking service" and did not want to take accountability and was rude to my husband. Place wasn't full so they managed to slot us in. They were so short staffed we had to repeatly ask for service but only one of them apologised for the slow service. Servers don't even know what dishes are they serving when we ask if the dish is lamb or pork. Good thing the quality of the food wasn't compromised despite the lack of service. Am quite disappointed because my husband and I are regulars and have been supportive despite the change in mgt. Conclusion - they can't cope with large group or surge in patrons so probably next time will just go in pairs.
Super yummy dim sum and hot pot. The Abalone chicken collagen soup is a must try soup base. Lychee beer Drunken prawn yummy yummy. All dishes are yummy. Must come to eat.
Tucked inside Chin Swee road is this gem.
Surprised with their Quality Service & Food with many parking spaces.
Give this a try for anyone looking for yummy dim sum & hotpot.
I was there to experience the foods...staffs is new... price is medium high...2 dimsum plus 1 desert and Chinese tea++ = $26.00...environment is good.
Expensive but average chicken and salad show are only for design purposes also hard to get there
Good food and excellent service. Highly recommend!! Desserts are not too sweet perfect for families and occasions
The food is nice. Free parking. Staff is polite.
Unique food dimsum & tasty steamboat, good service, nice environment

Friendly hospitality.
Greatly recommend
Every dish is delicious
The first dish was amazing
Fish skin ice flowers, very special
The soup part is very smooth.
The fish tastes very good too
The shrimps are very big and fresher
The grilled chicken part is very tender and delicious
The mushroom and cauliflower sauces are also very delicious.
The fried noodles have a very special texture that I have never had before in Taiwan.
The dessert part of the poplar branch nectar is cooked very well, and the sago dew is cooked through.
Overall, every dish is very exquisite and delicious
There is a restroom in the store 🚻
There is also a large parking lot outside, which is very convenient for parking.
The atmosphere in the store is pretty good
I ordered it thinking it was rice noodles, but it turned out to be a type of seafood rice noodles with soup. It was bland, so I would have liked it to be a little more salty.
Highly recommended, a hidden germ in Chinatown/Outram area. Very nice dim sum.
I checked in here tonight and heard from the waiters that many of the dishes were sold out in the morning, so I could only order the Fu Tiao Qiang soup base. It tasted very good and was my favorite. And if you come at this time, it’s not very crowded.
The God of Cooking hot pot soup base is first-class👍, the environment is quiet and worth a try
Nice environment, delicious food
