Reviews of Red Eye Smokehouse
Nice food and atmosphere. Quantity is a bit small, though. Good thing we tried one 3 meat platter first.
Got the brisket and the pork ribs. Let's talk about the brisket! Best smoked brisket I had in Singapore. Great flavor and so tender. Yumz, exactly what you would expect for brisket that is smoked for more than 12 hours.
Pork ribs... not the best, sadly. Have better ones for a fraction of the price.
We also got 2 sides, the dirty rice and the mushroom medley. Both were decently good, no complaints.
Would come here again to try one of their other meats and the brisket.
Portion size were not big, but good enough for 2 people for what we ordered.
It is a self-service restaurant. And for the service charge and price, I would prefer if it was a full service restaurant with a better atmosphere (feels more like a dim litted canteen than a restaurant).
Service : friendly waiter that ask for feedback. Of course I did mention the portion was too small
Food : 3 stars
Beef brisket
Has the Smokey aroma but unfortunately the portion as if it’s for bird and a little on the drier side and overcooked. It tends to be chewy rather than melts in your mouth.
Pork belly
Pork is filled with smoked goodness however, the amount of fat to protein ratio was a turn off. As if I’m eating fats. Although the fat melts in my mouth but I prefer a good 7:3 lean meat to fat ratio. Not 1:1
Pulled pork
Was normal nothing fancy tho it can be a little fibrous
Chicken
Chicken was good. The only meat that has a proper portion.
However like others have mentioned. The price you pay for the portion is a little expensive. If they were to fix the portion. I think it’s worth the money
Lovely place for some meats and drinks. The beef short ribs were particularly flavourful and tasty. And the beer battered fried chicken was not too bad, too.
Overall, we liked it. The wings were good, as were the beer battered chicken tenders. The brisket was decent. The pork was a little dry. The poutine was nice. The pulled pork was watery and lacked flavor. Liked the cornbread. The coleslaw was a little bland but not bad. The sausages were forgettable. The roasted chicken was surprisingly nice and tender. I don’t think it’s the very best in Singapore but it’s decent and I’d go back.
The pork belly was super tender and juicy, chicken wing was full of flavor. Nachos should add some minced meat for spice up. Hope if the meat can be warm up little bit more. Overall, enjoy the foods.
Surprisingly, there were no other customers when we got there.
Their ribs are very well done and tender and drop right off the bone.
The homemade sausage was good. A little on the spicy side for the kids but otherwise nice.
The pulled pork was delicious.
If you enjoy smoked BBQ meats, Red Eye Smokehouse is the place to be! My favourite dish surprisingly is the poutine, which uses sweet potato fries rather than your traditional potato fries. Extremely yummy but the portion size might be a little small if you're sharing.
Service staff were friendly and came up to me to ask if everything was to my liking.
Be sure to make a reservation prior to going down if you don't like waiting! As they tend to get busy close to dinner and lunch time.
We had to order MORE brisket! It was well prepared and very tasty. The corn bread side was impressive and the boys loved it. Happy hour specials for drinks too tue to sun 5-8pm. The platter was completely devoured as the sauces and portions were very seasoned and served hot. If you are into BBQ style meats, try it. Enjoy !
Went there with my usual foodie gang and decided we would order a la carte as advised by staff that the combi’s were smaller and this was a gang that can eat.
Had the Jurassic beef rib, pork belly, pork rib, brisket, sausage and probably some stuff I forget and a sample of their sides.
Dug in and started with the brisket. That was good and discovered that all the rest of the stuff was great too, including the sides - beans, corn bread, mash…
I highly recommend this place and the tops that, staff was great, ambiance was very good and the neighborhood is funky.
Definitely go try and do let me know what you think.
Decent ribs, chicken wings had a nice crust and coating but bland inside. Soup was alright. Coleslaw was terrible. As were the buns we bought.
Terrible beers, wish they had more options on tap. I wouldn’t go back unless I was in the area.
A good place to satisfy a meaty meal. I could not and hence did not try the beef brisket that is supposedly their signature. Had pull pork and pork ribs. They were bit too dry to my liking but was flavorful. Corn bread is nice and the nachos were top generously with avocado and dips.
Food was pretty decent, nice and tender with great flavors of a smoky bbq. It's quite troublesome and slow to smoke meats so I can understand the price. Plus protein fills you up quite fast! Will definitely head back again to try other meats. Wasn't really feeling the short ribs when I went but it's suppodedly a top seller. Oh the nachos were pretty great too.
Paid 93 bucks for 2 pax, and we were pretty full by the end so no complaints. Oh but soft drinks are 5 bucks each. That's really kinda expensive by any standard.
Great BBQ place for meat and beer lovers. Tried the 1-for-1 beer and really like the green one, while the golden one has sweeter taste. The staffs there are extremely helpful as they take extra care for the kid, putting spicy portion aside in the platter. However there is no fresh juice provided here so not so suitable for young kids. Great place for friends gathering and chit chat though.
Ordered Duroc Pork Ribs, Carolina Pulled Pork, BBQ Poutine, Roasted Greens. The ribs is too dry. The rest are surprisingly good. Staffs are friendly & attentive.
The place converted from old shophouse where there is a spiral staircase at the back
Great Beef, tender, Smokey, and flavor. The sour plum deep fried sweet potato 🍠 marvelous. Chicken wings look spicy but not at all, 5 star plater. Baked chicken is tender too. Pork is less of perfection, not bad. Ordered an Nachos chips. Great combination and best while waiting for the plater good for 3 pax and above. They also offer soymilk for coffee /chocolate with 1 dollar charges.
Good juicy brisket, pork belly and pulled pork.
Sausage is unfortunately dry.
Would classify this place as a hidden gem in this area of town. Really like the fact that I have another meat platter place to choose from and the taste is quite unique! Between the seasoning and sauces and the types of meat offered, the platters were quite interesting. However, what can be improved is the either the portions or pricing and also the uniqueness of the sides. For example, the bone marrow butter mash potatoes taste not that different than mash potato and generic gravy. So that was a but disappointing. Will check back here sometime in the future or when I am in the area.
First time here. Love the smoke short ribs. A must have at this restaurant. All the sides are great too. The service is considered fast for this type of restaurant. The place is simple but comfortable.
Redeye did really decent smoked meats (the brisket and shortribs are really good) but the sides are quite disappointing. The corn breads were dry and overly sweet, while the mashed potatoes were coarse and quite bland like KFC mash. The baked beans were also sweet and lacked savoriness. Highly recommended are the poutine, sausages and wings.
Good service, staff was friendly enough and also explain the menu to us. We got the 3 meat for 2 pax plus small coleslaw and corn bread. Meat were beef brisket, pork ribs n pork belly. Beef brisket is the best for me. Corn bread and coleslaw was good too... the meat is not totally cold but it could be warmer... drinks were reasonably price. Nice place for a chill dinner ... Will go again
My go-to place for bbq meats in singapore! Really love their beef brisket and corn bread. Meat’s always done so nicely it slides off the bone. Key lime pie’s pretty good too!
Not a bad attempt on slow cook BBQ. You cannot compare with the Texas version (in the US) but it is not bad in most of Asia cities. Good selection of beers and drinks. Great place to hang out with friends.
Beer and meat. Need to say any more? Enjoyed the pulled pork and the beef brisket. One for one draft beer during happy hours. There's the green beer too if that's your thing. Clean and comfortable environment suitable for groups.
Please do make a booking in advance to avoid the wait -- as you don't want to wait when it comes to this.
Star of the meal is the soup.
Sides were pretty good, we got the corn bread, fries and mash potato.
Meat mains were ok, a little dry and cold.
First time trying this place on a weekend 12ish noon. Crowded but still have some space left. Simple reno of industrial style. The front part of the restaurant is bright but behind is dim as there is no windows. The customer service is normal. Some staff seem to be more friendly. Ordered 1x 2 meat meal and 1x 3 meat meal with drinks. Taste good, but portion can be abit more. The mashed potato is good. Total cost SGD90. I would say slightly expensive for the overall experience. Limited parallel parking outside.
We had the Tray For Four (including house made sausage as our starter, mashed potatoes, cornbread with honey butter, coleslaw and roasted greens as our sides) and BBQ Poutine, and the highlights were definitely the poutine and angus beef brisket.
We chanced upon this smokehouse on a random late afternoon on Saturday and fortunately they were still open and willing to accommodate our voracious appetites :’)
And can I say they (or rather we) ate and left no crumbs cuz their smoked meats were GREAT!!! We got the pulled pork eggs benny and a 2 meat platter for 1.
The former was our fav - pull pork was moist and tender with shreds that pulled apart easily whilst still having some texture. Loved the corn bread base, avocado mash and of course the poached egg!
The meat platter was so so indulgent. Their bratwurst comes packed with savoury spices and little soft fat globules that are every bit worth the impending heart attack.
Beef brisket had a nice Tony Roma’s-like sauce. Quite tender! Just wish the inner parts were a bit more moist hehe
Giving their delivered food during the lockdown a lesser rating than we probably would have if we had dined in. Having said that the brisket was still quite off the mark of what we had expected - very little evidence of a smoke ring, and without much smokey flavour, texture was also quite dry ( but maybe due to the delivery time). Ribs were pretty good with a good smoked flavour, hitting all the right sweet salty notes. Ribs were also pull apart tender but at $30 for three large ribs it needed to be. I would come back for the ribs not for the brisket. The sides were also unmemorable. Again once the lockdown is over, i would like to check out dining in as the perhaps the delivery time caused some deterioration in the normal quality.
Beef brisket is the best, followed by beef short rib. Mash potato is a great side, the gravy and melted butter elevates the dish. Ranch sauce is amazing too. Buffalo wings and pulled pork was just average.
Had dinner here with my wife, first time back since before pandemic. Nothing changed aka everything was as good as before. Brisket that melts in your mouth and cornbread thats subtly sweet and delicious. Wished to have the short rib but alas it was too much food for 2 of us at that point. Will be back 😍
A nice quality meal. We ordered a sampling plate with 3 types of meat for 2 persons and a side of potato egg salad. Quantity is enough for 2 and we were impressed by the beef brisket and pork belly. Pork ribs was a tad dry but the marinade (smoky and not too sweet) made up for it and I still enjoyed it very much. It wasn't crowded and had a nice comfortable ambience.
Really good and authentic American food. You absolutely must try the brisket when you're here! Very reasonably priced as well. We sampled a range of meats and were pleased by all of them! Pictured i ! The brisket plate for one with added sides, sausage and pork belly. Buns and pickles are also complimentary!
The meat platter was really good, and value for money. The pork ribs and the US beef brisket are their best seller indeed. These people are kidding no one. Best to top it up with beer! Worth 5 stars!
The beef ribs and brisket were tender and savoury. Enjoyed the corn bread too. Pork ribs were a tad dry. Can be rather pricey if the beef ribs are ordered.
One of the best American-BBQ places I have ever been! The meat is so tender, and taste so delicious even without any dipping sauce. Best to enjoy with groups so can order their platter. Limited portions daily so do come early!
Great food. Nashville burger is nice, alot of flavour.. will definitely come back again.
I literally eat here 3-4 times a week, it's that good! Comparable to some of the best bbq you would find in Austin - my go-to is the build your own plate (16 SGD at lunch), add on the brisket dirty rice to make it extra special
On my hunt for good beef brisket in SG and it turned out kinda average - was on the dry side... Also tried the beef ribs, lamb ribs, pork belly and chicken. I thought the belly was the best and the beef ribs were pretty good!
The portions were quite modest though, so be warned. I ordered all items ala carte and not the meat samplers (which says feeds 1-2), so I thought the portions could be more sizeable… Anyways…
Hands down, best barbecue in Singapore. Order the beef short ribs. You won't regret it. For sides, you'll never go wrong with mashed potato. Will be back again!
We had a sharing platter for 2 and it was delicious!
The « dirty » rice is a must, so fragrant and tasty.
The sausage was also very nice - not salty!
Chicken wings fried to perfection - it is rare to get such a crisp! Can’t wait to go back!
Just one point about the ventilation - our eyes were teary after a while because of the smoke in the air.
Would be good to improve the ventilation systems!
The brisket is ok but not as tender as expected. The st Louis pork ribs were tough & the batter on the chicken cluckers were too salty. Hits & misses .
Pleasantly surprised by the food and service provided. The sides were great as well. Cornbread with their honey butter is a must!
My second time visiting this American style steakhouse. It is an unpretentious home style diner that serves superb beef. Meateaters would love the drop-off-the-bone beef ribs and pork ribs. The beef brisket is very tender. Understand that the meat are slow cooked in the oven for 12hours. For this quality of beef, I will be back for more. The staff is attentive and very helpful; she advise us not to over order. Ice water is free flow.
Was there for lunch. Recommend the Red Eye BBQ Patty Melt sandwich and BBQ poutine. At least something different in the JB area 🙌
The food was good. The brisket just fell apart in my mouth, so did the ribs & the best part it wasn't expensive at all. No GST & Service charge as well, about $20/pax.
Can't believe we took so long to walk into this gem in the hood. Tried the weekend special, pancake with chilli brisket. I didn't know what to expect, and it was so good, it blew my mind!
We'll be back to try other dishes!
Pretty decent bbq brisket and ribs
We went last night with a friend to have some bbq food. The food was tasteless and seemed to have been cooked and reheated several times. It feels a bit too expensive for what it is. The quality of the food and the way it was cooked is very average. Plus, the website does not give much option if you want to get a plater, you will have no choice but to top up to try everything. The lunch menu is apparently better with burgers available. I may try again one day.
Then, there is a problem in their seat arrangements: they always put group of two to occupy tables of four. Why can't they separate and readjust tables on the fly? It should not be that complicated. Customers won't wait that long and the restaurant will make kore money by having more people using the full capacity of the place.
Went for their 3 meat lunch platter. Think their food quality and portions are good for sharing or if you feel like getting big lunch. Would come back again for the dinner menu.
Had their Plate for 2 which was very sufficient for two males. Loved loved loved their brisket, ribs were decent but their chicken was meh. Cornbread is also on point - definitely worth a visit to satisfy your bbq cravings
Really nice food and friendly service. The meats have nice smoked fragrance and yet still juicy. For one-for-one beer offer go before 7pm
A good place to chill and catch up. The brunch was great.
Good food, and good drinks. Meat was smoked well and very soft, perfect with the different sauces and dips. Place was cozy and conducive for a good chat and catch up with friends
Smoked meats are to die for! Ask for a spicy sauce on the side because it also goes well with the meat!
Don't be fooled by the plain, inconspicuous exterior of this place. Tucked away in one of the side roads of Jalan Besar, their barbecued meats are a force to be reckoned with, and definitely one of the best in town: Irresistible smoky flavors, tender, juicy meats, hearty side dishes. Beef rib and beef cheek were our favorites, and we'll be back for more.
Good American smokehouse food. The brunch menu is actually very good if a bit limited. I used to order the meat combos but the sandwiches and burgers are actually better balanced flavour wise.
My husband & I have wanted to try this place for awhile however was a little hesitant reading some of the reviews on portion sizes... we were pleasantly surprised, not that the portions were large, but the flavour was top notch & we were stuffed!
The only thing that would make it better is the wine selection, many of the wines were old vintages of wines that shouldn't be aged - or that even go with meats like that, perhaps its better to stick with the beer!
Food here never fails to disappoint. Love the sweet bread, mash and beef short rib! Sausages and wings were also delicious!
Been there a few times and loved their 12 hour slow smoked meats which are delectable. My favs are the St Louis Ribs, Burnt ends briskets and pulled pork. Amazing chicken cluckers too !
Visited the place last weekend with friends, we enjoy the Beef brisket, the meat is tender and the crispy at the outer, the meal for 4 it is just nice with set of mash potatoes, pork ribs and rice. We enjoy the environment and drinks
Simple set up in restaurant with great food good service.
The ribs were hard and dry also not fresh and the pulled pork was sourish but they had good service and overall abit basic and their coleslaw has onion which was overpowering
Meats are well prepared. Food is tasty. Service is polite & helpful. Ambience is cosy & good for catching up & just chilling. Beer is available in many forms & names, mostly crafted beer. Happy hour until 8pm. Limited dessert menu.
The only few places in Singapore that worth the return trip to in terms of American Grilled Meats. Sausages quality have improved tremendously and lots of choice for everyone. Cornbread is a must order and buy a few beers as well to wash all that goodness into your tummy for a good after dinner belly rub.
Small diner that can house about 30 - 40 people at a time. Tried the platter, the beef and pork meat cuts are soft, juicy and tender the way you will want it. The chicken however, pales in comparison. Coleslaw is tasty and helps to prevent yourself from being sick of having so much meat. Do not need to worry much about parking as there is a multistorey carpark at the jalan basar stadium located near it. Overall, things can get a little pricy but it is a well worth place to try for meat lovers.
When I was passing by on another errand, I saw a line and decided to make a reservation for a later date.
You order at the counter and have it brought to your seat.
The staff at the restaurant were very nice and kind, and the food and beer were delicious. I will go again!
Although it was a little expensive, it was the most delicious meal I had while traveling in Singapore.
Mashed potatoes are really delicious.
