Reviews of Shandong Dong Ji
This stall continued at new BK Eating House after it took over Fu Chan Food Paradise.
Ordered their beef noodles and to be honest, I’ve had better ones. The soup was simply salty and just a little spicy. No bovine flavours at all. Beef was cut into bite size cubes but very chewy and probably stewed for a long time. Noodle were not al dente at all.
As the uncle came to clear the table (we would have cleared the table by ourselves but he insisted), he pointed at the bowls of beef noodles and asked: “Why so much leftover? Not nice? Guess you won’t be coming back tomorrow.” LOL!
Standard has dropped as the owners are busy at other recently opened outlets. Still great dumplings, but today was not boiled for long enough and skin was still doughy.
Lol don’t expect any service from this kind of place but the original owners were friendly. Now they hired staff who are just, staff.
Maybe my expectation was not so high like the other reviewers here. I ordered tomato egg La mian and chilli oil dumpling, it was sooooo damn good!! Tomato broth was sweet and comforting. The eggs was too little for me but La mian portion was so much! And the La mian was really well-cooked, not too soft or too firm. Very chewy and nice! Dumplings was the best. Skin was thin, inside super meaty and the meat was fresh too. The chilli oil was not spicy enough but it was really worth it. 10 dumplings for only $4.50.
Food portions are big. Taste suits us. Value for money. Strongly recommended for people who like Shandong dishes.
Love the dumplings here - they're huge, generously stuffed, juicy and affordable. Definitely a top choice when I need to satisfy my dumpling craving. 😋
Update: End Mar 2022
Turns out that their 炸酱面 is pretty darn good too! But tbh it's not like your typical Korean version so do bear that in mind. Very filling in terms of portion, so I mostly share it with my wife.
Have been wanting to try their food after reading so much about it. Jog there and tabao-ed 红油抄手拉面 and 羊肉汤。The noodles are al-dente even after reaching home 15mins later and the meat dumpling are so plump and juicy! Delish! Definitely value for money. However, I find the mutton soup so-so with few pieces of meat.
Just next to Soi 19 is another popular stall that drew a long queue during peak hours. Wanted to try their Tomato with Egg La Mian but it’s not available, opt for Braised Pork Ribs La Mian but I find that the soup is a bit bland.
Location: Shan Dong Dong Ji 山东东記La Mian Xiao Long Bao, Jurong Gateway Rd, BLK 134, Singapore 600134
My favourite 红油抄手 place… satisfying and filling… the only flaw might be at times they forgot your order when there are many orders… just give them a reminder if you waited too long…
(Good & yumz) Handmade noodles in the West?!
🍜
Eat simi: Wanton with Chilli Oil La Mian (Dry)
Each how much: $4.5 (Cash only)
Eat which store: Shan Dong Dong Ji La Mian XLB
Eat where: Jurong East
Eat nice not: 4/5
🍜
Very important to ask for healthier choice (少盐少油) as the original one could be slightly harsh on the salt and oil! Nonetheless, the noodles were deeply coated and I enjoyed the slight acidity which helped whet the appetite. The handmade noodles have a more dense bite rather than springiness. There was also a generous amount of variety of ingredients providing addictive pockets of texture.
🍜
Absolutely worth it for a full substantial meal which costs <$5. Though sometimes it could lean towards the saltier side, ask for less and you shall be receive!
🍜
Too popular shop in Jurong East. Tried Chili wantan noodle and Enoki. In totall, it was S$9.50 only. They are super shiok and I got addicted to this shop.
Had the big plate chicken la mian and xiao long bao.
The serving of la mian is definitely huge, enough for 2 person. I couldn't finish it at all. Xiao long bao is good for the price, does lack a little in flavour.
The chili oil dumpling and the pork ribs noodles is super delicious with each $5, very worth it
Our go-to place for chinese dumplings/wantons cuz its in the hood. Fuss free, but waiting time can be a pain sometimes. Would love to try their noodles someday when I’m hungry and can eat a cow cuz looking at their portions, its huge!
Ordered the XLBs. the skin was too thick so I ate the meat inside only. Some dumplings had soup awhile some hardly any. $4 for 6 XLBs. Seemed like a popular place but I will not be back.
My favourite china food stall, try both the zha jiang noodle and beef noodle, generous serving. Always long wait during meal hrs and night time.
Our go-to for good value and tasty boiled dumplings and fried dumplings. I also like the flavour of their zha jiang noodles and the portion is generous. Spring onion pancake is also great.
Affordable at $4 for 6 XLB. But to draw a comparison, the skin is thicker and less fine that the ones at DTF. However the meat servings are bigger, but there seemed to be less soup in these XLB.
Overall still good substitute at a much cheaper price.
Taste so good! Generous amount of food given and price is good too! Will be back to try more!
Shandong Dong Ji is a hidden gem in Singapore! I absolutely love their food and friendly service. The restaurant is cozy and has a warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The menu is packed with delicious Chinese dishes that are bursting with flavors. I highly recommend trying their dumplings and crispy duck—it's simply mouthwatering! Plus, their convenient location in Singapore makes it easy to find. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Shandong Dong Ji is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.
Food was good, big portion. Long queue but serve fast
Shandong Dong Ji is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. The extensive menu offers a wide variety of delicious dishes, with a focus on traditional Shandong flavors. The attentive service and cozy atmosphere create a delightful dining experience. Don't miss their mouthwatering dumplings and flavorful stir-fries.
The red oil wantons and steamed dumplings are delicious.
Food collection sucks though especially during peak meal period, very haphazard. They don't prepare your orders together. End up waiting 10 mins for each dish to be prepared separately
Tried their 云吞面,红油抄手,小笼包 - all for $12! Super value for money given that their servings are very generous.
Guessing it’s the same fillings throughout all their dumplings and wanton, it was well marinated and cooked across the board 👍🏻
Not bad overall for fried dumplings and XLB. Seems like there is a constant flow of orders while waiting. Paid by CDC vouchers. Spend $10.40 (40 cents for takeaways). Will come back again to order the rest.
Very affordable. Very delicious. Quite crowded during dinner. Come early
The dumplings are value-for-money. The skin of the dumplings a bit thicker and chewy.
The xiao long baos are a bit bigger and packed with meat!
For meatlover, this is great.
I've not tried other items on their extensive menu. Next time.
Got Xiao Long Bao and Dumplings 🥟. It really shocked me that for only $5, they gave a lot of Jumbo sized dumplings and XLB. It’s just the flies at the food court, but again, it’s like that for all food courts.
Love the Fried Dumplings 😋
So delicious & Super Juicy Tender Meat.
Value for money.
Definitely a must try the Fried Dumplings & Xiao Long Bao here.
If you are looking for thick chewy hand-pulled la mian, this right place should be right, but some may find the noodle too hard. The only setback personally I think, is 红油抄手 because it does not have the mala taste.
3 must orders:
1. Zha jiang Mian - meaty sauce without starch fillers. Serving is big can share between 2. Must add vinegar and chilli oil for that extra oomph.
2. Jiao zi - filling is meaty and packed full in the jiao zi
3 Xiao long bao - filling is different from jiao zi must eat hot for the best experience
Guo tie and chilli oil wanton also nice, but if don’t order not a big deal.
If you are taking away, please bring a container or bag to pack the chilli oil or vinegar. They don’t have pre packed chilli oil or vinegar.
Generous portions of good, tasted authentic and also at a reasonable price. Service was friendly and quick, I recommend coming with a group of friends so you could try out more dishes.
$5 for a good portion of Beijing zha Jiang Mian.
The noodle is “q” to my like.
The sauce has big chuck of mince meat to my like too.
Shandong Dong Ji serves flavorful hand-pulled noodles and delicious xiao long bao in a casual setting. Highly recommended for noodle lovers
This place is near to our house. Like their noodle very much, soup is tasty and noodle is springy..will recommend everybody give it a try when you are nearby this area.
Nice quality food. worth the money. visit when you’re at Jurong! :)
Nice place. Food is good and service of staff is very good. You can enjoy your food with good atmosphere.
Yummy food especially dumplings. Will definitely eat again. :)
Looks very nice and modern set up. Most of the items are tasty. Love it
Good value for money! But during peak hours the queue can be long so be sure to avoid peak hours!
The Hong You Chao Shou Mian is very very tasty. It has been consistent in its taste and quality 😋
Cheap and decent xlb to satisfy your cravings. Nth beats affordable and cheap eats in the neighbourhood :)
This dish tastes very refreshing. Price is reasonable and the portion is very huge.
Dumplings and xiao long Bao very delicious. Will come back again
Everything is wonderful
Nice location and lot of fun with my friends
And nice food 🥘 and the service is all good 👍
Seriously the best...whether you like chinese food or not, just check it out. Really really worth it
Affordable Chinese dumplings/wantons to head for. Easy choice.
First visit and feel their food are very nice, i ordered 红烧拉面 ,damn good 😍😍
Nice yummy braised beef noodles and generous portion, highly recommended
They speak only chinese. But dumpling is really nice
Excellent xiao long bao and dumplings, one of the best I had
Nice place to have a lunch and ả dumplings ☝️
Light but fragrant lamb soup minus the fatty residue.
Tell me ! They seem to have moved to somewhere somehow.
Please tell me where they are. I miss their dishes
One of the best BBQ skewers in Singapore!
Yummy! Must try
All time favourite dumplings in Singapore!
Hungry until I didn't take any pictures
Good food
Yes nice
Variety of Chinese Cuisine.
Most go to Chinese dumpling place
amazing
Very good food...
Great place!
very good place
The dumpling is above average. However it cannot be ranked high due to the keen competition in this area. $5 for 10 dumplings is considered to be inexpensive. The sour and spicy soup is very inexpensive. However, the quality is also of average.
Dumplings are above average. But it doesn’t rank high due to the fierce competition in the field. Five yuan for 10 dumplings is considered a bargain. Hot and sour soup is also very cheap. However, the quality is also average.
It’s rare to find handmade ramen noodles in Po. I highly recommend the ramen series. They are cheap and have big bowls. The skin is thin and filled with lots of stuffing. They taste more like dumplings. I feel like they have the best business in the food court. If the side dishes are the same price, you can ask an aunt to cook them together. one time.
There are also frozen dumplings and wrappers available for purchase~
Both xiaolongbao and fried dumplings are cheap and delicious. A shop that always seems busy.
After leaving Singapore, what I miss most now is the food here.
I want to eat it again.
Nice Xiao Long Bao
