Reviews of Thai Tai 泰太 - Zhongshan Mall
Good Thai food at affordable price. They offer lunch set menu that comes with a drink, a main, a side and a dessert. Tables area placed outside the stalls, along the walkway of the mall. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall, recommended.
We love the food and service here! The dishes are always delicious and flavorful, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our kids are big fans of their food too, which makes dining here a great experience for the whole family. Highly recommend!
Every time I go to Thailand I search for one of my favorite dishes (regardless of which part of TH I'm in) - Khao Soi . Inexorably, that search has gone international, which leads me to Thai Tai .
Preferences for taste are personal but I'm sure afficionados of Khao Soi will find this iteration of it worth their while.
The broth is not as thick as a reduced gravy. Instead, it has the right consistency to coat all the ingredients without being overwhelming. When you've finished everything, you can just about drink it as a soup . Delicious !
I invariably choose the set meal which at $12 is a steal (and this includes a side dish and drink ). The restaurant functions almost like a fast food outlet with table service, ie you order at the counter and it's delivered to your table fairly quickly even at peak lunch times. In spite of appearance, this restaurant has ample dine in seating for at least 50 customers.
Oh, and don't forget to sprinkle some of that chili paste for an added zing !
Linda was very helpful in helping me (a clueless tourist) navigate the menu for vegetarian options. She also helped me figure out the payment — they don’t take cards, only cash or Grab wallet. I didn’t have either so they helped me place an order on the website very kindly. She also asked me for the 🌶️ heat level and the food was cooked accordingly. The food was lovely — fresh, tasty, and didn’t feel heavy on my stomach)! Thank you Linda!
Go to for steamed fish, Thai style - really sharp flavours with zesty lime, chilli and fish sauce accent 👏👏👏👍👍🥗. Outstanding as been back here 5 times even though far as fish is extremely fresh, and most importantly- attention paid to ensure no leftover scales 👍👍
Rest of dishes are really good as well with dried pork as stand out, plus the Pad Thai is yummy 🤤 Milk tea is spot on, not sweet as other places ..
All in all, a great place for leisure weekend lunch 🥗
Amazing food!! Me and my dad were staying nearby and we couldn’t stop coming back 3 days in a row. We tried a few dishes: pad Thai, pork knuckles with rice, khao soi (northern Thai curry) with rice. I really love the pork knuckles rice, meat was amazingly soft and not dry at all. The Khao soi was pretty delicious but I will probably have it with the Jade noodles next time! The Pad Thai would be better with more tamarind and I prefer it more wet. If you get the personal set, you have your main dish with a side (I got 2 pieces of Thai fish cakes which i love) and a drink (tried green milk tea, iced lemon tea, healthy lemongrass drink— all good and not too sweet).
I saw good things about the mango sticky rice so I bought it for takeaway, and I will be back for other dishes like pad kaprao, the grilled pork rice and chilli lime steamed whole fish. The service is also really attentive and friendly— just give their food a try! (:
Khao soi is a must try!!!!! The flesh of chicken drumstick literally falling apart from the bone without any force omg. The fried mee pok on top the khao soi is also very unique. Must try! Will try the steamed fish next time.
Food is freshly cooked, and surprisingly good! Super value for money as portion is substantial too.
Had Pad Thai, Steamed sea bass, Pork knuckle and Mango sticky rice. All were delicious, especially the steamed fish (fresh and flaky meat!).
My wife and I had the 2 pax set. The Thai style steamed fish and is very fresh and flavourful. The fried pork is sumptuous too. Highly recommended. Would try other dishes on the next visit.
very good food and excellent service. must have the khao soi!
Loved the food here! Would recommend getting the crab meat fried rice set, value for money! Steam seabass was the star of the meal, and I am not a fan of seafood!!!
Definitely would come again!
Takeaway the 4 person set meal and a prawn vermicelli . The fish was fresh and the broth was super good, wish they gave more broth . Service was good as well. Will recommend
One of the best Khao Soi in SG. Rich flavoured broth with fresh curry paste and coconut milk. Will alway come here when I have craving for Khao Soi. They do serve other Thai food. Staff is friendly and attentive. Thumb up.
Food is tasty but gets a little thirsty after that. A place for a bite but not so much for chilling in terms of atmosphere. Owner must have been a fan of Teresa Teng as the songs were on repeat mode. Pretty crowded and seemingly many delivery orders. Price is affordable. Would be back again when I do my grocery shopping at the mall.
Amazing Food 😍😍Such a wonderful experience.Highly recommended 🎉🎉🎉
Pleasantly surprised by how value for money the set meals are. $56 for a 4 pax set meal inclusive of 4 mains, 4 drinks, 1 side, 1 dessert. The mains are substantial and were not smaller in size to save cost at all, and dessert was also a whole proper mango glutinous rice enough to be shared. Food is very worth it and tasty too, will definitely bring more friends to visit again!
Only suggestion would be to add healthier drink options on the menu. The “healthy lemongrass” on the menu is not healthy at all. It’s full of sugar and so sweet that I could not take more than two sips.
Food is amazing!! Love the lime fish dish and its only $23 for such a big fish! Very flavourful, the right amount of sourness and spicyness. Highly recommended!
The mooping however would rate 7/10 meat can be a little more tender but the flavour is quite good still! Worth it to try if you like mooping.
Basil chicken rice is not bad at all
Enjoyed our dinner and we ate till we couldnt walk 🤭
Tried chicken basil Rice. it was delicious. Staff is friendly. definitely eat here again.
I ordered padthai combo set at $12, the portion is big and comes with side dish and drink. The tastes of all are good. Also the staff was very nice and friendly. Very worthy for ten bucks, good taste good service
Ate the steam sea bass lime and chilled kang kong for dinner. Nice. Friendly customer service. Can try.
Never thought of writing a review but the food is so delicious. The freshness of the fish is the star of the meal. Lovely dining place with good customer service. Strongly recommended.
Small yet cosy place to enjoy a meal. Ordered a set lunch which consisted of Basil Chicken Jade Noodles, a lemongrass drink and a ice cream (coconut flavour).
The Basil Chicken was authentic in terms of taste. Paired with the Jade Noodles (called so as it was green), the dish was satisfying and flavorful. The dish was served with a fries wanton and a poached egg.
The lemongrass drink was not too sweet and the coconut ice cream was delicious.
The service level only helped to enhance the experience. The staff were polite and patient.
The price was good too. The meal only cost $9.90 and there was no service charge nor GST. Looking forward to visit their Beach Road Branch soon.
Best Ruby I ate before. Super nice. Boss is very friendly and made Ruby for us personally. Beside Ruby, all other food: fried pork, pork leg, pad Thai, tomyam soup etc all very nice. Ate here many times already and will definitely come back again and again.
Came here for dinner and it wasn't crowded. They actually have this execute set for $9.90 (1 main + 1 appetizer + 1 drink).
We got Lemon Tea, Thai Green Milk Tea and Thai Milk Tea. Lemon tea was normal tea that was a little too sweet but the strong sourness was refreshing. Thai Green Milk Tea and Thai Milk Tea was good. Just like what you get in Thailand.
For appetizer we tried their spring roll, chicken roll and Thai fish cake. Spring roll and chicken roll tasted quite normal like what you get at Chinese stalls as well. Thai fish cake was okay, it did had the essence of it but was so-so.
Mains we had Pork Knuckle Rice, Basil Chicken and Tom Yum Seafood Soup. Pork Knuckle was so-so. A little like Chinese + Thai.
Basil Chicken was good. Tasted like the one I had in Thailand but less spicier. Tom Yum Seafood was good as well. Flavourful and slightly spicy. There were mushrooms, lala clams and prawns.
We also got dessert, Thai Mango Sticky Rice (full). There's half Mango and full Mango and we got the full one. Rice was quite plain and the mango was very fiber-y. Only the sweet coconut sauce was nice.
Overall some hit and misses but very helpful cashier.
The basil chicken rice was a bit salty, but nonetheless fragrant. Pad Thai with grilled chicken was not too oily and its wok hei could be tasted during each bite. The thin kway teow complemented with the fried beancurd pieces, bean sprouts, spring onion and peanut shavings.
The restaurant has different promotions like Happy Hour (3 -5pm) with different main dishes at $8.8 nett & value meal set from $12, which we are looking forward to try on the next visit.
Overall, it's worthy to give it a try 👍🏼
It was 9PM plus and the kitchen is close. We went after the mid autumn festival at Sun Yat San Memorial Hall. The staff is super nice and helpful with the ordering with the recommendation dish that suitable for kids and also cook a soup which not in the menu after kitchen closes at 9PM. Both adult and kids are satisfied to be welcome by a warm hospitality, well cook dishes, drinks and dessert for the late dinner. Thumbs up!
Wow! What a great experience. They have many dishes and choices of food, and many customers! Today managed to eat their 1. Khao Soi 邓丽君最爱咖哩面 (interesting fact too) and 2. Tom Yum Seafood 冬阴功海鲜! Bagus! Looks and taste good. And aldo their thai milk tea, must try! Not too sweet, not too thick. Just nice! First time i drank finish a thai milk tea. Will definitely come back again! Thank you Linda!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thai Tai restaurant at Zhongshan mall and it was a great experience. The lady boss and staff were friendly and kind. The ambience was inviting and cozy.
Each dish was bursting with authentic Thai flavours, prepared with precision and care. From the sour and spicy Tom Yum soup to the fragrant Basil Chicken rice, every bite was a delightful journey for the taste buds. The prices were incredibly affordable, making it accessible to anyone looking for an authentic Thai dining experience without breaking the bank.
Overall, I highly recommend Thai Tai restaurant to anyone craving delicious and affordable Thai cuisine served with a side of warmth and hospitality.
Must order their grilled chicken jade noodles. Taste good!
Have been having Thai Tai ever since I moved to Balestier. Their Tom yum soup is always my go-to choice. A nice list of options to choose from where you can get a meal set with drink and side dish. Yummy
service very nice, first try Thai pork knuckle rice so nice, staff also friendly 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Had the beef stew for 4 times in a week. Say no more! Soooo good
The food was very good, had the claypot prawns with glass noodles, extremely tasty especially the charred bits at the bottom of the claypot. The kids love the pork skewered. Definitely worth the visit. The last boss is very friendly and accommodating as well.
We ordered 1 Vegetarian khaosoi tofu with rice and 1 double grilled chicken with rice. Both the dishes were delicious and the staff there was very welcoming and courteous.
This place offers vegetarian options. So any person looking for vegetarian item around Novena can definitely give Thai tai a try.
Had dinner here and the food was great. There was a promotion going on where you get fish, lala, basil chicken, baby kailan in the set with the option to add sides. We added moo ping and tom yum soup. Their tom yum soup and fish were really good! Would recommend anyone that wants authentic thai food to come try out their fish
I had the steamed seabass with lime and baby kailan set for two today, and it was amazing! The seabass was very fresh, and the spices were perfectly balanced. The baby kailan was also really delicious. The lemongrass drink we had complemented the meal nicely. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our dining experience even better. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return to explore more of the menu! :-)
Food was alright. Quite average but glad to see jade noodles! Was a little bland though other than that, all’s fine. Ordering was quick & seamless through QR 👍🏻
The Tomyum soup really good and loaded with seafood👍🏻, and the mango sticky rice so nice, the mango melted in my mouth! I also recommend the pork skewer
good food, friendly staff, especially linda :)
Seabass is very fresh & size just nice. Service friendly & ambience comfortable. Vegetable & fish cake delicious. Set is priced reasonable.
Ordered the Thai Basil Chicken and Double Grilled Chicken and it tastes alright. Portion is a little disappointing. The fish cake was okay as well.
I would highly recommend the Thai Milk tea, that is the only thing which I feel that was worth!
All in all, if you want a quick Thai fix around the area, this is a place for you. But don't expect it to be mindblowingly good.
Note: My friend ordered the green curry and it was quite watery.
Good food, very good and friendly service. We stayed in Ibis Novena and came here to try Som Tam and Mango with Sticky Rice. It didn't disappoint. My daughters liked their fried chicken with some red sauce. Definitely gonna come back here again next time.
Food is very tasty and the stuffs are extremely friendly and helpful. Guide us to great promo savings with uncompromised food superb standards
Very yummy Pork Leg Rice - soft and savoury. The pickle vege goes very well with the meat. Will be back 😋
Very delicious and highly recommend the Khao Soi mee pok. The chicken meat is so tender and the curry is very good and rich. Also had the yam crunch prawn which was excellent 👍 Braised pork knuckle was very tender and flavourful. Will be back again!
Had the Pad Thai, Thai Milk Tea and Mango Sticky Rice. Everything was very tasty and the service crew is very friendly too. 10/10 will come back again since I love super near.
Ordered the Khao Soi with mee pok, which was a rich and fragrant chicken curry with thigh meat that was so tender, it readily came off the bone by using a fork.
The value set comes with a side and drink of your choice from $12 onwards, which is a pretty good deal given the quality of the food.
I recently dined at Thai Tai and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance was inviting, with a warm decor that set the perfect mood for enjoying Thai cuisine.
Food is great. Price is affordable. Lady boss is very friendly and nice!!! Highly recommend!!!
Staff was very pleasant. We had the Khao Soi, which was pretty good. Can't wait to go back to try other items we say people eating.
Delicious Thai cuisine at affordable price. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely return again.
Buried inside a shopping mall, this eatery serves affordable authentic Thai food. Staff are efficient in taking orders and the food was served pretty quick. All plates are nicely sized and food was fantastically delicious.
Basically all the food is nice!
Recommend menu:
- Beef stew
- Clear Tom yum soup
- Mango salad
Grilled chicken and fish cake were delicious! Mango sticky rice was good even though the sticky rice was a little bit salty. The staffs were friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience
Has potentials. Small Thai eatery serving basic but pretty decent and authentic simple Thai dishes. Won't be mistaken for they served not the typical Thai street food but more of the traditional Teochew influenced Thai food like stewed beef and pork, the unmistakable Chinese influenced grilled chicken with green noodles plus Khao Suai...a type of yellow curry from the northern region of Thailand. The stewed beef soup based was aroy mak! Full flavours with heaps of herbs tastes. Pity the meat slices was a tad tough. Once they get this small gap sorted out, this eatery could be a real winner especially when coupled with a reasonably priced menu. 3.5 stars for now..
It’s a good place for delicious Thai food with vegetarian options. Staff is very courteous and cooperative.
Had their 2pax set (2 main, 1 side, 1 salad, 2 drinks & 1 dessert) for $33 ish. Really enjoyed the seafood mama tomyum! A LOT of lala and 3 big yummy prawns. Their boneless fried chicken was good too. Price is quite reasonable as there was a lot of food. Service was great too!
Staff is very friendly. The mango is very fresh!!
This small and new Thai kitchen serves up authentic and affordable Thai food which we enjoyed very much! The restaurant has just 4-5tables but we did not wait long to get a seat as it was off peak.
Our order was served within 5mins of ordering. The restaurant staff are pretty friendly. Kitchen also run by Thai crew.
Thai tea tasted exactly what u get in Thailand! Tom yam seafood soup with rice at just $6.50. We enjoyed our lunch very much! Will definitely return.
The food was so tasty that we took pictures after finishing up
Good food, authentic quality & reasonable price. Enjoyed the Khao Soi & Basil Chicken. Recommend eating here again.
Had a lovely dinner this evening. The staff were very friendly and they even gave my little boy a bottle of bubbles as parting gift. And the kids meal here has very generous serving and they even serve it in an aeroplane plate.
Food was nice and I particularly like the pork trotters. Very tender.
Came on a Sunday and there was no issue with finding a table or parking lot. Largely due to it being in the middle of Thompson where human traffic is generally low. Very happy to have found this place while browsing on google map for Thai food.
Food is great, and I'm glad they have kid's meal options, helped a lot!
Value for $$$.
Kid meal is good (not fried food)
Highly recommended the Basil Jade noodle with Lala(N3), their noodle with the sauce is very aromatic and flavorful
My wife and I stumbled upon Thai Tai at Zhongshan Mall and decided to try it out. We went for the double grilled chicken rice, basil chicken rice, and lemongrass drink. To our surprise, the set came with 2 delicious fishcakes. The flavors were fantastic, prices were reasonable, and portions were generous. The owner, who we believe was in charge, was incredibly friendly and engaged with us. A hidden gem for sure!
The service staff at the counter, Linda was very friendly and attentive when we ordered at the counter and made us feel very welcome to patronize the cozy eatery where the Thai food is both tasty and reasonably priced. We will surely patronize the place regularly when we have a craving for Thai cuisine.
Excellent, small vendor in the mall preparing fresh Thai food that was delicious and great value with a fantastic, friendly service
The boss of this eatery is very friendly and the food is very tasty. I seldom eat fish but the sea bass is very fresh.
I had the double basil with grilled chicken rice and a set of 4 spring rolls. Delicious, good portioning, full of flavour and tasty! Would definitely recommend for an authentic taste of Thai!
Food is great and portions are satisfying. Service is good; staff are polite and professional. However be prepared to wait a while when ordering to go.
Edit: My previous takeout order was incomplete and I only found out when I got home. However, the staff remembered on my next visit and made good the order. Thank you for remembering and for the extra fish cakes! 😀 Five star service 👍
A very warm welcome by the staff with a beautiful smile.
We had the Tom yum and a pad Thai . It was delicious and authentic
We arrived at 1pm+ on Sunday and ordered 2 1pax set. Food is decent for the price, and they even gave out a cute tissue pack as Christmas gift! Waiting time for food to be served is long though (I think 15min+?) when we thought it's already past lunch peak.
Food portion is good for 3 for pork knuckle at small size. Kid meal available too. Friendly staff as well.
Taste is good.
Nice place and price is reasonable.
Food very nice & delicious will be come again also the staff very friendly
i have been here since the opening of this food outlet even before they rebranded themselves as thai tai, and seriously, the thai food here is not to be miss- especially the pad thai, thai milk tea, and the mango sticky rice. they serve many dishes all cook freshly, staff are very friendly and outgoing as well! cheers!
Delicious thai food at great prices. Very flavourful and tastes of fresh ingredients.
The owner was very nice and patient in explaining the menu. Would come back again!
the mango sticky rice is sooooo good:)
the main dishes are also really flavourful and delicious❤️
The lady boss was very kind and actively chatted with us. Candies were given as extra after the meal.
Ordered the tomyam seafood and roast pork. It was delicious. The waiter spoke fluent Chinese. It was heart-warming and stomach-warming.
It’s delicious~ The lady boss can unexpectedly speak Korean😂😂 What a surprise~
Teresa Teng's curry chicken is very tender👍🏻
I've had curry rice and beef noodles, and the portions are quite sufficient for one person. The curry has a rich flavor, goes well with rice, and is not overpowering. The beef noodles taste very close to Taiwan's braised beef noodles, and the noodles are made from rice flour, which surprisingly matches well. The store owner is also very friendly and can communicate in both English and Chinese. Push (`・ω・´)b
Delicious food, friendly and funny owner
The service staff was friendly and the food was amazing!
Recommendation Food: Basil Minced Chicken with Rice
Love the dry pork and basil chicken. Pad Thai was not bad too. Tom yum soup on the sweet side and not too spicy so we really enjoyed it.
I ordered Stew Beef rice, it is very good.
