Reviews of The Hainan Story Coffee House (Chinatown Point)
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Hainan Story Coffeehouse, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly delicious, and I'm already craving my next visit.
The standout dishes for me were:
- The Chicken Chop: Tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with a sauce that complemented it flawlessly.
- Adam Curry Noodle: Rich, flavorful, and utterly satisfying.
- Chee Chong Fun: Silky smooth and deliciously savory.
- Nan Ru Pork: Absolutely amazing, with a depth of flavor that left me wanting more.
And let's not forget the beverages! The coffee and tea were both fantastic, with a perfect balance of flavors.
Overall, I highly recommend The Hainan Story Coffeehouse for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!
We enjoyed our experience dining in here! The food quality is good, loved the variety of local foods & drinks. Curry Chee Cheong Fan & Nutella Waffles were my favourite! The staff was really helpful when he saw people struggling with ordering from the QR code. Definitely will come back again.
Such a chore to order! The qr code has to be " live" and then to go up to counter to pay.
Food is OK but not great.
And so noisy esp with seats where the back is another food counter.
Fries were dry and so was kaya toast. No one could figure out what the kaya was. Someone thought it was peanut butter
Prices are a tad high but not unreasonable for location and as the customer had to self order and collect, this was ok

Back again for the red bean toast, and this time I opted for the crispy traditional toast without butter. I definitely prefer this traditional toast over the soft bun version. The portion of red bean was generous, and it was absolutely sedap!

After falling in love with red bean toast in Japan, I’ve been on the hunt to find it in Singapore, and I finally found it here.
The red bean portion is generous, topped with a satisfying slab of cold butter. You can choose between traditional crispy toast or a soft bun—I opted for the latter. I’ll definitely be returning whenever I crave red bean toast!
To order, simply scan the QR code on the table, then proceed to the counter for payment before your order is confirmed. A buzzer will be provided for you to collect your order once it’s ready. This place does not have a service charge or GST, which is a nice bonus.
Nice Asam laksa! The rest so so. Peak hour but we managed to get a table for 2 though.
1. Hainanese curry drum rice : tasty. Chicken tender and soft. The curry sauce nice with strong lemongrass, the veg very nice. Recommended.
2. Fish & chip : Super not nice. 2 of my colleagues ordered this and both commented that it is sucked and horrible. The fish is very bland and tasteless. The coleslaw is not crispy and very soggy. The baked bean look not fresh and color on darker side. In the end, they didn't finish it and throw away. Not recommended!
3. Waiting time : They arranged media tasting session and this causes longer waiting time. My colleagues ordered at 11.59pm but only got it at 12.30pm. They have no choice but to take-away instead of dine-in. As for me, the waiting time for the curry chicken rice is okay and I got it, finished it but my colleagues still waiting for their food with long neck. I feel that it is a very bad ideas to arrange media tasting session at peak hours. Despite you put up a poster to share with us longer waiting time will be expected. May I know who is your priority? Your customer or media? Bear in mind. Your customer should be treated with top priority. The media tasting session should be arranged close door or off peak hour. Very disappointed on this.
4. Service: lack of manpower. We can see 3 of them running here and there. Arranging table for customer. However the kitchen need improvement as it is very slow in preparing the food. The drink and food will make u run 2 trips to collect it. Very inefficiency. Can't they make it order by order. Food and drink together. Cashier slow in clearing the queue too.
The management need to review it. Need improvement. If not, I prefer to patron other food stall/restaurant than coming here.
New dishes exclusively available here include the Hainanese Ah Mai's Chee Cheong Fun, Hainanese Pig's Trotter Assam Curry Noodle, Hainanese Pork Patty Noodle Soup and Baked Hainanese Rice Cake Lasagna. Overall the food is still ok. But abit hot for a shopping mall.

Though I like the innovative fusion food they serve but the portion is not up to mark. Stingy with the bee hoon portion, the meat patty size is acceptable. The soup is rather bland.
I had their curry chicken dish previously, was good.
Yes it's can be busy and look like any other cafe at the basement of Chinatown point. Something about their stores atmosphere attracts me. Probably the staffs, cleanliness and the customers who are there just to chill.
The service has always been welcoming and outstanding from my POV. Their waffles and ice coffee is a must. Please treasure this cafe. It's totally worth it.
Chicken chop is nice! crispy yet juicy. Interesting ice lemon tea with a lot of foam… very refreshing . Not too crowded.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr.Yam for the exceptional service he provided during our recent visit. His attentiveness and dedication truly made a difference.
Thank you for going above and beyond. We look forward to returning soon!
Best regards,

The hainanese chicken chop and toast bread are nice. Good customer service too.
Yummy food at affordable prices! My mum likes the trotter Assam Laksa and we enjoyed the other popular dishes like rice and pork/chicken chops too.
Ordered the crispy chicken cutlet and it was so delicious with the sweet sauce which brings back memories. Had the handmade ice lemon tea which i strongly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
