Reviews of The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens
Food tasted really good and if you request for gluten free they would guide you what to pick from. I really enjoyed the duck breast. Keep in mind that the quantity is small. Stunning location of restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We weren’t sure where we wanted to sit so we moved in and out 2 times. Best to book before going.
We had a fantastic dining experience. It's a pleasure. The food was fantastic with subtle flavour.... compliments to the chef.
Service staffs were attentive, especially Ms Chan.
Overall it's a pleasure. Will definitely come back again.
Had a wonderful dining experience at The Halia as a big group. The food was delicious, and the ambience was perfect for a relaxing meal and catch up with friends. The service stood out as well — staff member Fikri has kindly provided us with a complimentary dessert. Thanks for the service and definitely recommend to others!
We were welcomed and served by Fikri and Jo, both very hospitable and attentive throughout our dining experience. What a wonderful memory to keep as a last dinner in Singapore with my family.
It is not cheap but worth every penny. Exquisite food, well presented and lovely views amidst the botanical gardens. Excellent dining experience overall. We would definitely be back here next time we are in Singapore.
Many thanks Fikri and Jo.
Date of visit: Thursday 30 May 2024
Time : 12pm
Made a booking for 2. Arrived promptly and no queue. Not crowded.
Decided to choose the 3-course set menu at $60++ for 2. Chose also the 200g wagyu which needs another $25 supplement. Requested it to be cooked medium.
Picked the Italian burrata and the yuzu cake for dessert. Coffee/tea is included.
The steak (5 slices) is cooked slightly and good. So is the yuzu cake slightly sour and the chocolate and cake sweet to complement each other.
Had a nice gathering at this place. Each dish was elegantly presented and beautiful to look at. Taste delicious too! Will definitely be back for more!
The food was average at best. Really nothing to shout about. The service was good tho. We got some cakes to try out. And they deducted one of the cake because it's a birthday event. So that was nice of them. We got the jug of iced peach tea. It's not that big to be honest. I could finish it on my own. The chilli crab pasta was average. Could probably get it somewhere else at a better price. The black pepper glazed beef cheek was the best thing we had so far. Would recommend.
Delicious food, great location and friendly, professional staff who were also brillant with our kids.
First time coming here for our 13th Anniversary, recommended by my friend. Didn't make a reservation, just walked-in before lunchtime. If you want indoor air-conditioning you need to make a reservation. Anyway is just a small room, not so spacious. I rather have it outside since I love the outdoors with nature.
Getting here is easy, you can drop it off at The Learning Forest if you taking a Taxi/Grab. For drivers, there is an open parking lot too. Very convenient.
The food was great, the service was ok which can be improved. Overall, Thumb Up 👍🏻
Loved the food, cooked perfectly! Served by Mr John who was very kind and efficient. Thank you for making my wife's birthday a memorable one!
Ample carpark area to go to this restaurant. Nice ambience and very friendly staff. We made booking earlier because this place is always crowded. Celebrated birthday here. The plating of food was appealing to us. The prawn salad with mango was fantastic. So was the grilled octopus with marble potatoes. We had the fried lamb rib and grilled barramundi and both tasted great. Even the batter for fried lamb rib was nice and crispy. Wagyu beef cheek was sweet and tender and it came with mashed potatoes. The honeydew sago with freeze dried melon had a punch to it. Sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream are really flavourful. It's a must to try. Even though the restaurant is a bit more expensive than a few others that we tried, the taste and quality of the food makes up for it.
We held our company year-end dinner at The Villa (event space of The Halia) and I'm very grateful to The Halia staff for accommodating all our last minute requests. Excellent feedback from the guests for the Jungle Mocktail Bar - guests said the mocktail/cocktail mixer guy was the star of the evening!
5-star reviews from our guests for the chilli crab spaghettini station, nonya laksa station, poached halibut fish, asparagus and beef striploin with black pepper sauce.
I also requested a bowl of fruits for a staff who was fasting on that day. The floor manager was prompt to get back to me. So much kindness and love even in the heat of getting everything sorted. Thanks Halia. Love the place, venue and vibe!
Garden dining. We sat outdoors, under ceiling fans and in the middle of the garden. Great atmosphere and vibes out. Perfect after spending some time in walking the grounds of the Botanic Gardens. Food is flavourful, ingredients are fresh. Ordered the seared tuna salad, ginger prawn salad and chilli crab pasta (all recommended by our server). Was excited to try their drinks, freshly bottled / made with ginger, herbs, ingredients from the garden. However, the drinks were a tad bit diluted & was not as strong as I had expected the herb flavours to be. But still overall a great experience. Will come back.
The food was nice. I was expecting more for pancake stack, but it wasn’t as nice, but the rest of the menu my siblings bought were delicious! Service was great. Esp from the server, John, he was very attentive and friendly!
Super delicious, juicy, succulent Little Joe Gunpowder Rump Steak, it is heavenly at every bite! The sauce is to die for, good portion size as well for a first class dining experience. Well flavoured for my option of medium rare steak. Will come here again(after my bonus)! Pricey but it is worth it for such quality food and steak. The chilli crab spaghetti is super delicious as well, not stingy with the chilli crab meat! Great memories here! Thank you Halia team, great service too!
Nice indoor ambience. Delicious burger cook to my liking. Rump steak is okok... truffles fries is very tasty and crispy. Staffs very friendly and attentive. Will come back again and try other menu.
Had a few dishes during lunchtime. Do remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment as this place is packed! Tried the asparagus, it's nice and soft and goes well with the mustard seeds. The octopus was highly praised by my friend. I found it non chewy and just nice. The steak of the day , although medium done, tasted soft and not tough. The service is great. Ambience even better. I'll definitely be coming back again. Also don't over order thinking the portions are too small. It's actually just nice. Wait about 20 mins while sipping on some beverage.
Calm ambience by the ginger garden and chill after a walk at the nearby orchid garden. Had salmon filet and cardamom tea. Tasty but portion kind of smallish and a bit expensive too, so one star less.
Take note that diners are given 90 minutes stay. So if you are looking to spend long candle night dinner this is not the place. More for casual dining. Overall enjoyed the food and the experience.
Simply excellent ! The terrasse is a beautiful place to enjoy lunch or dinner.
As main dish, we took slow cooked beef (amazing 👍👍👍) and chili crab with spaghetti. No more room for dessert.
I really recommend the Halia restaurant where the kindness of the waitress is worth being mentioned.
Come and enjoy 👌
Ambience: nice, it makes me feel like I am having a holiday in a resort. The background music is smoothing and the whole atmosphere is relaxing. Quite a lot of tourists dining here. We had the outdoor seats, which are great but can be quite hot when the sun shines on you. There are blinds but will need some cleaning up.
Food: great! The wagyu beef and paper wrapped halibut are very nice, tender and juicy. Pricy but worth it.
Service: excellent service from the waitress. Knows their stuff.
Convenient to book via Chope and can buy discount vouchers in advance for some savings.
Overall, very good experience.
Celebrated my birthday! Nice ambience . Great service by Fikri! However the truffle fries was not available. Made reservation for brunch in 2 weeks time😖to come back for the truffle fries.
Had birthday/break of fast dinner celebration at Halia on a Monday and was surprised to see that it was quite a busy dinner service as the restaurant was almost full capacity.
We had 2 sets of Ramadan feast as we had 7pax and speculating that it could be a busy service, I had it pre-ordered prior so there would not be any delays. And they did not disappoint.
Food was excellent; dishes from appetisers to mains to even the desserts were very well balanced and mouth-wateringly delicious to boot. Albeit its simplicity in ingredients, the execution of the final product must be given a shoutout. Service was prompt and very attentive. Kudos to crew and kitchen team.
I will definitely return to have their ala carte menu.
Came here in the evening and the place is really cosy and staffs were really welcoming too. Ordered a medium well steak and it was perfect. Portion is a little huge for me. Slightly pricey but nice to come for a nice occasion/ date.
After spending close to five hours walking in the botanical garden, I was sweaty, hungry and very thirsty. The visitor info staff directed me to The Halia. Mia greeted me and introduced me to John. They were both very courteous, helpful and just nice. I ordered the "Jerusalem Artichoke" which turned out to be an excellent choice as it was prepared to perfection. The whole thing was a bit expensive but given its location, the atmosphere, the service and the quality of the food, I didn't mind it a bit.
Beautiful halal restaurant in Botanic gardens. A mere 7 min walk from the drop off area. The food was great. They could improve on their mocktails though and maybe consider thicker menus? The paper ones tend to fly when windy.
Thank you John for the excellent service! Food was amazing too especially the medium rare ribeye we requested and the barramundi that came along with a well-balanced tangy sauce. Chef’s kiss 😘 John also brought a complementary dessert for my birthday celebration and he was such a great sport!
We had a catered menu for our team dinner here with a choice of 1 drink, 1 main and 1 dessert, with vegetarian options as well.
I ordered the chilli crab spaghetti as my main which came in a huge portion, tasted deliciously spicy and full of crab meat chunks. Highly recommended and I can see why it had a chef hat on the regular menu.
The chocolate tart was super rich and decadent, with a scoop of chocolate ice cream separately served on the side, which I thought looked a bit odd but it could be to prevent the melting of ice cream from softening the tart shell. Maybe it was the overdose of chocolate but I feel that a vanilla/ salted caramel ice cream might be a better pairing to reduce that gelat-ness.
Overall a positive dining experience with a really friendly service staff who takes group photos with much enthusiasm! Would recommend for family and group meals.
There is a Time Limit for dining in, and we were told to order ourselves via a QR code from the hp. That's fine, but I have to take 3 of my friend's orders, which became very complicated when I can't find the food and drinks. The screen is small and i kept scrolling non-stop looking for the items. I was so frustrated that I gave up and ask the staff to take the order. She took a long time taking our orders and tried to explain how the chicken is cooked. By this time, we have already wasted quite some time trying to order thru phone and server. The food also took a loooong time to arrive, but all 4 dishes arrived together. Thank you for that. However, the food and the menu did not match. We ordered beef which should come with spinach and tomato, but they gave us only mashed potato? The serving for the halibut is also very small. To save time, we requested for dessert to be served, when we haven't finish the main dish. The 4 desserts took awhile to arrive. They were beautifully decorated, fruity and delicious. Overall, a pleasant experience, except for the ordering part. If i am paying service charge, and paying so much for a dish, I don't feel it's justifiable to be ordering food myself thru my own hp. At least give us an ipad or Tablet to order. The overall bill for 4 of us is $260.
Enjoyed the place for a late lunch on a hot day after visiting the orchids. Staff were attentive and service quick. I dined alone. Had the Beef Rendang and coffee cheese cake. Food for me was great and air-conditioning also. A non fussy child friendly restaurant.
Great service, location, ambience and food :) Made a reservation with a comment that I was celebrating me and my friend’s birthdays together and forgot about it by the end of our dinner, so we were pleasantly surprised when our server came with 2 cakes each with a candle (instead of just the yuzu one we ordered). Thank you for making our night!
One of the nearest restos to the famous National Orchid Garden. Staff were courteous. Despite we had no reservation beforehand, the front lady welcomed us warmly & guided us to the best available table. Foods were great, though no rice option was available (wagyu beef rendang was served with bread instead of rice). Overall, nice experience indeed.
We ordered an iced chocolate, americano and cappuccino here after roaming quite a bit at the Botanic Gardens.
The ambience was really nice and well-ventilated, idk if it was the ambience or the drinks itself that helped us cool down after walking under the scorching heat! The staff was also very amicable and since this restaurant is right next to the Orchid Garden, you can head here for quick drink like we did!
The service staff shows you the table and you are all left alone ..
Order via online menu where you can scan a QR code for the link to the website.
Order came quite fast.
Food is average but the price is HIGH!
John who served us was pleasant and efficient too. The local fusion food and cocktails were interesting and very good! Just by the National Orchid Gardens - perfect for lunch after a visit to the gardens
What a lovely restaurant!
I made a reservation here for me and my boyfriend's 5th monthversary. I couldn't find a reservation slot online, so I called, and thankfully the attendant was able to slot us in at 7pm.
We took a grab to the nearest entrance, mainly because it was raining and we didn't feel like trekking in the gardens in the rain. It is only a 5 min walk from the nearest entrance (detailed directions are listed on their website) and easy to find.
The servers are lovely. They took care to explain the menu to us and were very attentive. We felt very taken care of.
We got a seat outside, which was nice because it wasn't too hot or too cold. The greenery makes for a very peaceful, serene environnment. I would recommend getting a seat in the upper level veranda (outside) - seems like there'd be a much nicer view there. We were seated in the lower veranda, next to the inside seating. Decor was lovely all around.
I got the slow-cooked spring chicken and BF got the Paperbag oven-baked halibut fillet. Food was great - BF loved his food, and that's saying something, because he's a huge foodie and very particular. My favorite part of the meal was my drink - Lychee and Thyme. Just the right sweetness and the Thyme was refreshing.
Overall a great place for celebrations, special occasions, or if you feel like a nice meal. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.
My very first time dining experience here, we came for the breakfast period.. The restaurant is quite nice.. We both had the Nasi lemak Wagun Beef. Its taste wonderful.. Expecial the beef meat.. But the most best part of the experience was their staff Mdm Alice. She was very friendly.. Had a great conversation with her while dinning that make it extra special. This type of staff deserve great accolade for their work skill.. I'll surely visit here again soon..
Everything's awesome... especially the spiced wagyu... but the chili crab spaghetti is too sweet for my liking... service was awesome as well. Staff knew it was our anniversary and made the effort to decorate 'happy anniversary' on our dessert plate...
Went here for the first time, on 24th October 2017 with my partner. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. We dined in the alfresco. I expected us to get mosquito bites but we didn't! Haha. We ordered: Fries which came with I don't know what dip (not to my liking), Chilli crab pasta, Chicken breast (with a delicious and smooth-textured mashed potatoes!), Halia mint berry, Fresh mints, and Sticky toffee pudding (for the birthday boy!).
The service is rather what you would expect at this kind of place. I made a reservation beforehand so we had no problems with getting a table. Pricing wise, it's evidently on the high. You can easily spend at least $100. Save 10% by purchasing Chope voucher(s)! ;)
P.S. If you dine at dinner time, save yourself the trouble and book a grab if you don't drive!
My colleagues and I were at Halia for our School Dept and Farewell lunch, and we were served by Mr Fikri. We would like to thank Mr Fikri for being patient with us, with our indecisiveness and served with with distinguished professionalism and with humor. Thank you for helping make today a special day for us!
Pretty serene experience eating in the middle of the botanic gardens. Interesting food and unique flavours. Tried the baked halibut fillet for main but that particular item was a bit boring and bland - try something else.
Edit - went again today after a few months and another good food experience! Stars up from 4 to 5!
Amazingly wonderful dining experience. The ginger flower sambal was a great pair up with the cheese. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We organised a company dinner for 20 pax at The Halia this evening. Our tables and chairs were nicely arranged in the alfresco area when we arrived.
I would definitely recommend outdoor seating over indoors at this establishment. The restaurant is after all nestled amidst the lush fauna of the Botanic Gardens.
We were served by a suave young man named Fikri, whose wit and good humour helped liven up an already lively evening.
The halal-certified menu is an eclectic offering of upmarket western cuisine.
Imagine charred Fremantle octopus garnished with ginger flowers and baked French Camembert with truffle oil and honeycomb. We ordered both these dishes and more.
Every dish was well curated, executed and presented. Every ingredient tasted fresh off the farm.
The dishes tell you that the folks in the kitchen don't just love to cook, they love their diners too!
I would recommend The Halia to anyone who is tired of the mundane. You will come away feeling refreshed and inspired. Thanks again Fikri!
We’ve come here several times, food is always good and nice looking as well!
Sean attended us today and his service is perfect. We really had good time! Thank you.
The Organically Farmed Lacto Whole Chicken Spatchcocked (Approx 1.2KG) is good!!! Mad!
Came here based on high reviews but left very disappointed. The food quality was below average, especially considering the $100 price per pax.
The waitress never smiled and we don't feel welcome. To top it off, we waited an incredibly long time for our food. Very disappointed dining experience.
Service was a little slow. Took over an hour to bring our mains even after we had made a reservation in advance. We were told it was because there was a big group even though we had made a reservation in advance.
Some items were a little bland, for example the asparagus whereas some were very good, for example the smoked duck, the chili crab brioche, the cheeses and the artichokes. The deserts were excellent except for the chia seed porridge which needs some re-working.
We had our dinner on the 30th of January. We love the amazing dinner experience here. Thank you for the amazing food and hospitality.
Amazing ambience at The Halia, spent approx $180++ for 2 pax. Was rather filling! Drinks tasted amazing, oysters were real good too. Went during the night time so lighting & ambience felt very "warm" & comforting. Loved the sticky toffee pudding!
Great to bring your family/partners/friends for special occassions and dates!
Really good food! Came with a big party and they handled us no problem. Great seafood, apps, drinks and ESPECIALLY desserts. Definitely try the Goat cheese mousse!!!
I love the ambiance of the restaurant and their drinks. If you want to dine surrounded by trees, this is the place to go. The food is good but I just feel it’s not that special/unique for its price. The food isn’t bad either, it’s just okay. I would recommend the drinks instead.
Love the vanilla ice cream. Tomato soup is just like a tomato puree with salt. Fish is perfect and melt in the mouth. Lamb is inconsistent (different pieces in the same plate can taste different)
Went for a friend's wedding here last Sunday. After a long walk from the Botanic Gardens MRT station, about 15 mins, I finally reached the restaurant. A drift of strong lovely ginger fragrance greeted me and the restaurant is just in front of the ginger enclosure.
Love the great selection of food, wide selection of kueh kueh, drinks, fruits and desserts.
advisable to drive/take a cab here as it’s a long walk from botanic gardens mrt station entrance.
tried the chilli crab gratin, it was too spicy. the spiciness overpowered everything else, also couldn’t really taste the crab meat. not really sure what i was eating after a while, also felt very ‘jelat’. my friend had the crab meat spaghettini and would recommend getting that instead.
dessert is very unique though, love the tangy passion fruit purée (?) combined w the dark choc pairings.
this place wins for its lovely ambience.
Fully natural surrounded restaurant, and all the food is very tasty. Especially chilly crab pasta top notch. It was most pleasant to eat with your loved one. I enjoy it a lot here
The service was SO INCREDIBLE!Not only was the food SO GOOD,the service was incredibly exemplary, the waiter Sean, moved us so much with his incredible service. The steak was our favorite, celebrated my birthday there, all staff are friendly and polite.HALIA,KEEP IT UP!
TASTY!
This nice place in the middle of the botanical garden exceeded all our expectations. The quality and variety of dishes was great. The egg Benedict (pictured) was the best I have ever had (and I tried a lot:). The combination of healthy ingredients was just perfect. The service was friendly and fast. It is definitely a place to stop for a lunch👍🏻
Been here a few times over the years, always enjoyed the ambiance and food here. Paperbag Halibut and signature drinks are quite nice. Thanks Fikri for the good service today
Hala restaurant. Food taste not bad.
First time here. The main course was alright..the desserts and truffle fries were good.
Nice ambience and friendly staff! It’s a nice place for brunch :) the wagyu beef portion is generous!
Fantastic ambience surrounded by green. Great place to have an anniversary/birthday program. Food is comparably affordable given the high quality food.
Wonderful food and excellent service from Fikri and Zu made this an all-round lovely experience
Fikri and Zu were outstanding - very good service in the face of a busy crowd and a lot of stress !
Favourite place! Had another lunch today ♥️
Great service
Delicious food and drinks 🤍
Beautiful location inside the botanic gardens and delicious food. Pricey but in my opinion worth it!
Come here if you want to enjoy your lunch in the middle of the green scenery of the Botanic Garden, listening to the birds tweets.
A request: Please bring back the honeydew Sago ! It was my favorite Sago 🙏!!!
Flavorful food in a beautiful setting
Located in the Botanic Gardens, Halia offers Western food with local touches e.g. the signature chili crab spagetthni. I like the food here generally and appreciate its more notable / creative take though nothing particularly stood out from a taste-perspective. Don’t get me wrong – the dishes are delicious and the combination interesting but just not 5* level.
A lovely cafe with a tropical feel. After walking through the botanical garden, we stopped for a break.
The red and green apple juices are freshly squeezed.
The assortment of sweets was also delicious.
Thank you for the enjoyable time in Singapore.
I visited with my baby and daughter and had brunch at an outdoor table.
Thanks to the friendly staff, the baby had a great time, and Fikri especially took care to ensure that we had a comfortable and enjoyable time with the baby.
I plan to visit again and try other menu items.
A perfect choice for breakfast! Quality dishes, fresh and healthy products, friendly welcome and nice views of the ginger garden!
Ideal location within the lush vegetation of the park. Excellent cocktails and desserts. Very friendly staff.
Excellent, plentiful, very good service, very pleasant setting (pretty ventilated terrace overlooking the garden). Just a little recommendation, my salad was served in a too small bowl, I poured it in a big plate and the experience was much better ;-)
I arrived 15 minutes earlier than scheduled and was asked to wait outside, sweating all over. The environment is good and the food is okay.
It's best to make a reservation because it's quite crowded.
Order from mobile.
Wonderful experience. Fikri is a fantastic staff who looks after the rest so so well. He knows the needs of customers and how to make us completely satisfied with the restaurant .
Situated within Singapore Botanic Gardens, the lush greenery and architecture creates a wonderful environment with unobtrusive views for a nice meal. The food doesn't disappoint one bit.
Big mentions to the Goats Cheese Mousse, Wagyu Chuck Rib Carpraccio and all the steaks. Ask for the foie gras (not on the menu) to pair it with any steak. The flavoured butter is a tad salty after having a bit of it.
You have to try the Herbarium collection in the drinks section. The non-alcoholic menu offers a variety of amazing concoction. The 'CGC', Cumin, Ginger, Cinnamon tea and Lychee & Thyme tea gets my vote.
Service is impeccable as always. Places as such makes you appreciate the service staff who knows the menu. Also, live band on Sundays!
One of the best, if not, halal restaurants in Singapore. The place is always lively and great for celebration or for groups.
Greeted by very polite staff and gd service throughout. The ambience was comfortable for a business chat. I also like the fact that it's near the carpark.
