Reviews of Tuan Yuan Pork Ribs Soup
My first try Singapore bakuteh and the soup is really taste like spicy pepper soup😅Much different compared with Malaysia as we will called it as black pepper soup or lat tong (辣汤)…
taste of pork ribs soup is good and i like the most is the soup is refillable. Feel a bit disappointed cuz they didn’t serve with the whole garlic into the soup as per the photo menu😅(personally i like to eat garlic)
fried oyster egg, cheong long choy and kuay chap i give 4/5 and not much can comment .
Yau Char kuey recommended. It can dips into the soup and the texture is still crispy and freshly fried.
Staff bring 4 of us at a table meant for 10 people and is very spacious enough 😂
Will come back again 👍🏻
My friends and I, along with Kitty, decided to dine at Tuan Yuan Pork Ribs Soup based on a Google review. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and inviting, as mentioned by the reviewers. We opted for several dishes, including premium pork ribs, pork liver, pork kidney, vegetables, the famous mochi, tangyuan, kway chap, fried oyster egg, and more. One of my friends appreciated the mee sua, while we found the kuih of the kway chap to be soft and enjoyable. However, the bak kut teh had a slightly peppery, resembling a Hokkien style. The premium pork ribs impressed us with their generous portion size, but we felt the meat could have been cooked a bit longer. The liver was a bit tough, lacking the desired tenderness. the kidney was acceptable. Overall, the service was acceptable, with the initial lukewarm soup being subsequently replaced with piping hot soup upon our request. The ambience of the restaurant was delightful, but unfortunately, the food fell short of our expectations. Additionally, we also find that the food is a bit pricey, as we spent about $280 for a total of six packs. Consequently, we have decided to rate this restaurant with 4 stars based on our dining experience.
Chance upon this BKT restaurant at Kim Tian location. Very good BKT peppery soup and side dishes! Good service and pleasant staff. Love the braised fried beancurd skin. Recommended! Will visit again!
Ate here randomly and was surprised to find this bak kut teh better than song fa. Price is quite expensive, portion is also a bit small. But honestly, the taste makes up for it. Definitely would eat here again
Great selection of dishes for dinner! Would have wanted my soup a bit more spicier/peppery but it was great that they come around refilling your soup! Don’t forget to check out the mural outside 😍
Amazing bowl of heart warming bak kut teh paired with Kong ba bao. Fills my stomach and heart especially during cool rainy weather days like these. Oh and they serve very tasty and soft muah chee too!
Party of two went without a reservation on a Saturday night but no queue and quick to get seats. Atmosphere of the restaurant is good- bright and airy. Service was prompt and friendly too.
Perhaps I had too much anticipation to try this place but I did not get too wow by the food. Meet expectations but not the wow. We opted for the normal peppery soup and it’s really good enough kick for us. People who do not like too peppery/ spicy can opt for this or even without pepper. I would say after having the meal there, it may take us awhile to head back again…. Sadly.
The muah chee was our dessert and hopefully that perks us. Black sesame could have been done better with more black sesame flavor and lesser sugar. My friend and I would definitely prefer the peanut version.
What I would give credit is the food is served fast and hot. Even the muah chee was warm and that is great! For those who have not tried the eatery, should go for once, preference can vary as I always believe:)
A good place to enjoy family dinner. Besides Bah Kut Teh dishes, thry serve a good variety of Chinese dishes.
The Oyster Omelette was exceptionally crispy and they are not stingy with the oysters. The Braised Pork Knuckle was very tender and flavourful. Muah Chee was a favourite as it was fresh and chewy. The Pork Ribs were tender and we enjoyed dipping the freshly fried youtiao into the piping hot soup. We chose the original soup which wasn't too peppery for us. I recommend to choose the more peppery option if you like it more spicy.
Overall a pleasant dining experience and will be back to try the rest of the dishes.
This place was highly recommended by the locals. For someone from Klang, I must definitely try! The pork ribs soup was definitely less seasoned vs Malaysian style BKT. The taste is more with pepper and light. The pork belle with buns was a good attempt vs what we have in Taiwan. My daughter loved it though so brownie points for that. The fish soup was good cooked with fresh fish. Overall it was a decent meal. My family liked it but I was hoping for more. I will try some other dishes the next time. Stay tune.
For bak kut teh, very delicious soup and full of pepper and you can refill for free. More delicious when eatting with fried dough sticks. But Pork ribs are quite small and chewy. For pork belly that eat with bun is so good. Bun is so soft. No que for waiting.
Excellent service. Great staff.. attentive.
The you-tiao is crispy and fish fresh.
So much better than the ones in Owen Road!!
Come and try!!
You'll never go Owen Road again.
Second time here & safe to say, we were not disappointed! My friend and I are now bak Kut teh converts because of the broth they serve at Tuan yuan:) It’s hands down one of the best Bak Kut teh soups in Singapore (definitely beats some of the more famous chains, in my opinion!) love that it can be customised according to the level of pepper AND that the soup is refillable! The muah Chee was just the perfect texture. The servers were attentive and hospitable! Will definitely be back again:)
,.
I like their Tuan yuan braised pork rice. S$5 ++ 😋. It is flavorful, the pork is more on a lean side, but not dry. I strongly recommend to order this instead of plain rice to match with their bak kut teh.
,.
Tuan yuan pork rib soup, S$8++ there are 3 choices, No pepper, normal pepper, MORE pepper. We just go with the normal one. The soup is prettily good 😋. I would try more pepper next time though. For their pork rib is lean, I like those with some fats, more tender.
,.
Of course they come with free refill of soup. 😋

Amazing service and very attentive staff who never fails to top up your soup without even asking! Also, the dishes were served very quickly so if you're very hungry, this is a great place to be! Dishes taste very yummy too! The soup is very flavorful and youtiao very crispy! The chye poh omelette is really good too!
Decent home cooked style bakkutteh. The food was not too oily and the amount of flavouring was just right. There's a bit of tze char style involved too.
We came with a group of 10 people. I like that there was a good variety of side dishes to choose.
However, my ahma only enjoyed the bah kut teh, the pork buns & the muah chee. The rest of the side dishes were pretty mediocre.
Overall, this is still a good place for family gathering & you must try the muahchee! So good that i had to dabao 1 box home!
Been here countless time. Delicious soup (rare place with really tasty fish slice on top of bkt), great air con environment, nice friendly staffs and owner. Period. Best bkt place for sg style bkt!
Update on mar 2020: they have since revamped their menu and have 10x more stuffs ! From braised to fried stuffs !
I love all Ba Kuh Teh and really enjoyed my premium bowl. However as a tourist I cannot say my palate is all that discerning. I also ordered a Kang Kong vegetable dish (very nice), meshua noodles (ok), the egg omelette (so so a bit oily), and an Aiyu jelly drink. Definitely too much for one person… 😅
Bak Kut Teh was above average, with fresh pork ribs used. Broth was customisable, with a fresh peppery zing. Service was lacklustre, as Frankie was away and the staff was not as responsive.
Oil crullers tasted of rancid oil, a definite area to improve on. Overall, an above average experience.
From being greeted at the reception all the way to receiving our final bill, the service staffs here were fantastic. The pork rib soup served here has 3 different levels of 'pepper-ness' to choose from. Their strongest soup is still a only very mildly peppery. What you get instead is a very savory fragrant bowl of goodness. If you like the heavy strong stuff, turn away immediately and head elsewhere. The braised side dishes are a let down. Braising liquid needs some work. Trotter and skin needs more time on the stove. Stewed minced pork on rice is sweet. Highlight of the whole meal for me is their fried fritters. These are freshly fried in the kitchen to order only, as their wonderful staff kindly pointed out. 3 stars for food. Excellent service deserves 4th star.
The service level of this shop is very good,
the soup is refilled without interruption, even after dinner,
I still have to come to drink their soup.
The food level is 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and the service level is 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Super Value service 👍
The Bak Ku Teh Xiao Long Bao taste really unique. Recommend everyone to try. The food serving is super fast. The Crispy Orh Luah is also a must try.
Really delicious peppery soup and cold refresh jelly, affordable price. Definitely will come back for decent meal with family.
Very friendly and attentive staff! Half the battle is won.
The delicious food served is very consistent.
The dry bak kut teh is definitely a must try. They really surprised me! The original Bak kut teh is good as well!
Do reserve your seats and call ahead. They can get very busy.
Will definitely be back for more!
Pepper rich spare ribs soup is a must try. Bean crud skin not bad. Braised pork set van try also.
Friendly staff! Love the Free flow soup service where they will auto help u to top up! Soup are super healthy with 3 rounds of bones stew as coached by the boss in his kitchen! Meat are very well managed which gave a great taste! No joke! Their dessert is so creative! Enjoyed much :)
Good bakut with free flow soup..one bowl is 8 dollar and can mix with another type of pork meat.
Good place for an authentic Pork Ribs soup n many other dishes experience located in a neighbourhood area very near to Tiong Bahru market n plaza. Loves to eat here every Sundays after church service.
Delightful visit ! Never knew of this long time local brand aside from the usual suspects . Soup was flavorful , you have a choice of opting for the level of pepper. Service was prompt, seating was comfortable . Owner was very friendly and personable . Will be back !
One of Singapore’s favourite Bak Kut Teh’s around. Whenever we have guests in town, this is the go to place to bring them for a try. Always end up with great praises. The founder is really nice too! He goes about topping up soup for everyone.
Highly recommended! The best pork ribs soup in Singapore. This restaurant is very different from traditional bak kuh teh. They serve clear pork ribs soup and their soup have different type of spice level from normal, medium to hot peppery spicy (3 levels). They have indoor seating and outdoor seating available. They also serve braised pork legs, salty vegetable, dough stick and etc. Their service also tip top with very efficient waiter and waitress. During meal time it would be crowded and the queue might be long.
Savoring the pork ribs soup at Tuan Yuan was a treat! Exceptionally flavorful broth and perfectly tender ribs made for a comforting meal. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff enhanced the dining experience. Highly recommend for a delicious bowl of goodness!
Decent place for bak kut teh. Spacious dining areas indoor and outdoor. Business is brisk here. I like the fried dough fritters here (油条 you tiao). Soup base is good.
Yum yum BKT. Got the spare ribs and mixed kidney and youtiao. Very nice. Got ePay
Great restaurant, nice bakut. Fried yudiao very recommended.
Owner handled himself
Very comfortable ambience for a meal with friends and family. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bak kut teh is on the peppery side. I like the adoption of mobile app to order.
The most cozy HDB restaurant ever! Just enjoy the quiet moment here outdoor with their creative tea, feels very satisfying!
The bak kut teh xiao long bao is very interesting to try, though I don’t like very peppery bak kut teh soup. However, I do like this xiao long bao.
If you like peppery soup, this is for you! 3 degree of pepper soup to choose from! Must try - Premium ribs, You Tiao, meat balls.
Very tender pork ribs and yummy peppery soup.
Salted veg and tau kee didn't hit the spot but this is still a well kept neighbourhood secret yummy place. Definitely try... especially on a "cold" wet day in Sgp.
One of the best BKT around but the pricing has went up quite significantly, which has become a deterence to patronise as often as we did previously. Service is attentive and a big plus is their proactive approach in topping up soup. As an old time customer, I really wish they can bring back their watercress in oyster sauce... even as a special every now and then - it is something special that you can't find anywhere else.
Neat and clean restaurant, brilliant taste for both pork rib soup and all the other dishes (but especially the soup), TOP notch service (I mean it!), and an enthusiastic boss. This is the go to place for bat kut teh.
Fried yu diao is great, recommended. 1st time i went service was very good, not 2nd time
Not bad pepper soup. Normal ribs a bit tough but overall still decent
I really love the soup. The spices is not overwhelming and it keeps you want to have a lot more. I am surprise the soup is refillable when you dine in. Do not order the mushroom soup as you still can taste just out of the can flavours instead of it being immerse with the soup. It should be boiled longer with the soup. Pork skin is average, once cold it is hard to eat. Rest of the food was average. A little pricey. You will still feel like coming back it will be the kind of occasional feeling.
Imo, the best bkt in Singapore!!! The comforting soup, that's not too salty is perfect. The dishes are great too. My go-to place whenever I feel like I need a taste of home :')
Arrived at 12pm, did not make a prior booking but still managed to get a seat in. Noted the indoor seating was already half-full. Food all round is yummy. Some food highlights - Bkt meat is very tender. The normal pepper is not that peppery so could still be acceptable for older kids. The oyster omelette looked pricy at $18 but the portion, oyster size & crispy texture made up for it. Claypot veg was very good too. Fermented fried pork was a hit with the kids. Muah chee was not so sweet - i like it as such. 1 teapot good for full table. Will return.
nice food,reasonable price. 2person abt $40. W a pot of tea. W visit again.
Always my go to for awesome Bak Kut Teh. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Needless to say, the food is fantastic, especially love their broth and we always ask for the spicer version of the soup. Their homemade you tiao rocks my socks so hard.
Kudos to Tuan Yuan for the delicious food and service. It’s a place that not only satisfy your taste bud but also warm your heart with their thoughtfulness service. In my opinion, The Gwee family set a good example to their staff & also the F&B industry. So humble and always on the ground chatting with customer and making sure our tea pot and soup bowl are filled piping hot. During this Covid period, they have impress me again by revamping their menu and operation hours to serve customer even better.
I’ve brought oversea friends and client. Tuan Yuan till date never fail to make them leave with words of praise.
Pork ribs were nicely cooked and the soup was just seasoned with the right amount of pepper. The only peeve point was the really slow service for food - I waited for 20 mins before our order came. I expected it to be quick as everything was pre-cooked apart from the dry BKT and the fried fish cakes.
Not missing anything if you give this a miss. Would advise to visit only if you are cool to wait for your order and to be seated. IMO, the BKT at Ng Ah Sio (Rangoon Rd) is equally good and order arrives quickly (usually under 10 mins).
We patronised on 19 March at 7.10pm.
We had returned for that thick peppery soup but was utterly disappointed. SOUP WAS WEAK and not as before. Other dishes quality remains as we had ordered usual, the simple peanut, salted vege, tau pok and you tiao.
Ordered the following:
Tuan Yuan Pork rib soup,
Porkball soup,
Braised pork knuckles,
Watercress in oyster sauce
Verrmicelli in soup, and rice.
Soup based foods had a strong but pleasant pepperiness. Braised pork was very tender and the skin melted in my mouth. Watercress in oyster sauce's sauce felt a little too runny but still tasted pretty good. Service was good too even though there was a little mix up at the start. And the air conditioning was definitely a welcomed relief.
Good pork rib with choices of no pepper or double the pepper and good selection of side dishes
Very nice places enjoy your dinner with family and friends for car park visit HDB very easy to park ( very nice to eat enjoying.).
Great bowl of Bak kut teh. Reasonable prices and prompt service.
We had both the pork ribs soup and fish (garoupa) versions. Both were delicious.
Soup is generous and flavourful
Generous amount of meat
Long rib is soft and tender
Short rib is hard n dry
Dou miao is abit hard
Price is good. Not too expensive.
Overall is ok but not to my liking.
This is probably one best bkt you can find in singapore. The peppery garlic soup mix with the freshly fried youtiao is a definite must try. Very cozy place with attentive service! my oversea friends enjoyed our dinner tgt... will come again soon!
Wide variety of food beyond bak kut teh. Restaurant is clean and there’s indoor and outdoor seats available.
Servers are attentive and served diligently. Food quality is good and do not see visible remnants of oil on the soup surface
The food was very well done. Surprised that they have some much choices too. Other outlets mainly pork ribs - Ba kuet tea.
Tender pork slices served in authentic-flavoured broth makes this place stands out from the crowd. The flocks of regular customers frequenting this place testify to its superior food quality.
It awesome, the soup is fit to be pepper well and you can ask for the soup for refill. Advice order their specialise crispy Fritters(油条) for the soup. Saw a lot of kids love it.
Love this place!
The spare ribs extra pepper soup was the best! 💖
Would definitely recommend and came back.
Great service, beautiful soup
Nice ba kut tea but over price
One of hidden gem in Tiong Bahru. Their servers are generally very friendly. Their bak kut teh was as good as Song Fa.
still delicious after years
Food is good, particularly the fish which is fresh. Friendly boss and wife make lunch a positive experience.
Super flavourful and peppery bak kut teh. Teochew style. No msg. Reasonable priced. Fantastic!
Nice ambience, Good food & service!
Parking is easy. Better make reservations on weekend or public holidays.
Staffs and boss are very friendly. Steam fish very fresh.tang yuen at last makes our gathering.圆圆满满
4.3. The rice quality can be improved and should be more franrance. The chinese tea quality can be improved.
I love the pepper soup base and the comfy environment. Clean and suitable for family gathering.
Well priced with good range of other dishes. No pepper options for kids
Food is delectable, sevice is friendly and fast. Comfort good at its best! 💓
Food not bad n great for family gathering. Price reasonable n service is good.
Excellent food and services. Higher recommended.
This is my second time going to this shop and I ordered Bak Kut Teh, Pork Offal Soup and You Tiao.
1. Bak Kut Teh is very delicious😋, the soup has a strong peppery flavor, and there are 3-4 ribs in it. The ribs are very fragrant and cooked to perfection. Soak the fried dough sticks in the soup and you'll be full in a small portion. Highly recommended👍🏻!
2. The pork offal soup is also good, the crispy pork offal is delicious😋, there is no smell, and the soup base is almost the same as the pork rib soup base. Also recommended👍🏻!
3. Fried dough sticks are a side dish. They are okay when eaten in soup, but they are average when eaten alone. If they are freshly fried fried dough sticks, they are especially good and are generally recommended.
The overall service is very good. The staff will always help customers refill soup for free. There are always many people in the store and there are bathrooms. I will continue to come here in the future.
Among the Singaporean bak kut tea restaurants, this is the one where I think the fried bread is the most delicious.
The sparerib meat is soft and tender in the translucent soup with a hint of pepper, and the meaty kidney (liver) is plump and delicious.
However, the fried bread is the best!
I love bak kut teh and eat it often, but I don't usually eat fried bread.
However, the fried bread here is on a different level.
The fried bread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making it the perfect match for the peppery soup!
Even if you don't eat fried bread often, this is a place you should order and try.
It is the best when you dip the oil articles into the pepper soup. Of the little-known spot where a lot of celebrities come in. Price is reasonable. I can recommend here!
It's great if you dip the You Tiao in the pepper soup. This is a little-known restaurant that many celebrities visit. The price is also reasonable and I can recommend it.
The food is very delicious, delicious, especially the dry bah kih teh (black sauce)
The first time I tried Bak Kut Teh after arriving in Singapore! It has a very strong peppery flavor, so it tastes like clear gamjatang. Since coming to Singapore, I've never really eaten properly because the school food didn't suit my taste, but on this day, it cleared up perfectly⭐️
It is very delicious to eat pork ribs soup, seasoned bok choy(?) cooked in oyster sauce, and fried flower bread together.
+ In the case of wet wipes on the table, a $1 fee is charged for use, so only the person who will use them should use them..!
Even though it's inside a housing complex, it's a proper restaurant-style bak kut teh shop. I ordered brown rice instead of fried bread. Instead of brown rice, it contained beans that looked like azuki beans, which gave the rice its color.
I went because a relative who lives in Singapore recommended it. I think it was Songpa, the pakkutte chain restaurant that Koreans go to the most. It's more expensive than there, but it's delicious and worth the money. First of all, the restaurant is clean. The side menu is delicious and you can enjoy unlimited pakutte soup refills. If you add garlic and pepper to the soup, it will be spicy and spicy for Koreans. Even if you eat it on its own, the soup itself will be delicious. If you pour a bowl of rice into a bowl of pakkutte, you can find yourself walking out of the restaurant in a state of happiness, stroking your swollen belly with the comfort of a bowl of soup.
If you look at the picture, it looks like there isn't much meat on the bones, but when you eat it in person, you won't notice anything lacking.
Here's a tip: order something like a piece of bread and dip it in the soup. It's delicious. (I'm not a weirdo, but this is the menu you're supposed to eat, and it's surprisingly delicious.)
I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat really delicious Pakku Teh even if they spend a little money, and to women who don't like crowds and unhygienic things.
I will go here again next time I come back to Singapore.
The bak kut teh is light and spicy. It suits Korean tastes well. Delicious and friendly. I want to come back again.
