Reviews of Two Chefs Eating Place
Food is great, and the crowd is not a crazy as the one in commonwealth. The cold cockles are to die for - very fresh, very clean, very tasty! Coffee ribs and prawn paste chicken are great. Veggies were well done. The yam ring was so-so. The yam paste dessert was yummy, but be warned that they put a heck load of coconut milk over it, so if you don't like coconut milk, ask them to put it separately, and they'll gladly do so. Overall really value for money. We ordered 10 dishes for 9 folks, including two kids below 5, and the total was SGD$180 (cost 184 but they gave us a discount). Most definitely must try if you're around the area.
Is a kopitiam so don't expect it to be fancy but I was in awe of their Industrial fan. OMG it was not hot eating there. They have multiple big tables fit for groups of 10. Loving it.
Their service was super fast (disclaimer we went at 530pm on a Sat evening)
We ordered about 10 dishes and it came out to $172. Super adorable for a family.
Food was generally tasty. They have some new creation but not all are fantastic. they just trying different food.
The only downside is the drink stall only accept cash so do bring some cash hor.
Went around 6-ish pm & was quite crowded but managed to find a table. We ordered a few dishes to try & food was served quite quickly probably 5mins later.
There were all very delicious. The staff recommended steam fish with cai po & yes it's very good except that the cai po on the fish is a little too oily. The staff came to ask if food was good & I told him about the oily cai po, he brought over more cai po which wasn't oily. Very warm, friendly & customer focused. Deserved a 5*.
Will definitely be back to try other signature dishes on the menu.
Love the food which were served so quickly that we didn't even had time to settle down properly yet. Service was good as well as our server decided on the portion for us. Very affordable as we had 8 dishes for 9 adults at only $130. We will be back again :)
Food is generally tasty. Price is reasonable and food portion is reasonable as well.
However service is slow, given it is not too crowded when we visited for lunch.
Parking is available and HDB parkong rates applies.
Not my first time dining here. I’ve been eating for 10 years at the main outlet at Commonwealth.
Food always consistent. Today I ordered claypot seabass. Very well flavoured.
All dishes always good.
My regular dishes: herbal chicken (soup), butter pork, 回香豆腐, and fried egg omelette
Overall rating 3.5.
Food: Food was served fast and I agree with other reviewers that many of the dishes are precooked and served warm and not piping hot.
Toufu 4🌟, Roasted chicken 4🌟, 3 egg Spinach 3.5🌟, Floss Prawn 3.5🌟
Value for money 3🌟
Quieter ambience and easy parking at the multi story car park above are plus points.
The food here is just so good! Fresh drunken cockles is the best, together with the butter pork ribs! This is a must try for food lovers.
Butter Pork Ribs, Prawn Ball with Floss, Fragrant Beancurd, XO San Lau Hor Fun, Fried Lala with Ginger and Spring Onion. First time at this second outlet of Two Chefs at Sin Ming, for the uninitiated, the OG outlet is at Commonwealth. Located in a new estate in Sin Ming, the environment is not as nostalgic as its OG stall but the food is just as good.
23 Feb 2022: Clean, spacious, non-aircon place but well ventilated. We ordered san lau hor fun, coffee pork ribs and stirred fried yam…...enjoyed our lunch and the prices are reasonable too.
Came here for lunch at 11am+. Food came really fast. Waited maybe 5mins before the fried rice came.
Salted fish fried rice was not bad. Well seasoned but salted fish was not very prominent.
Butter pork rib was good. Deep fried pork coated with milk powder and mixed with curry leaves. Pork was tender. Milk powder was sweet. Good combination.
Hotplate tofu was ok. Deep fried tofu with egg and minced meat. Sauce was a little on the thick side.
Shrimp paste chicken was so so. Could be more flavourful. Shrimp paste was not prominent at all. Chicken was crispy though.
Overall food was served very fast and taste of food was both good and average.
Very fast servings... just like I ordered 5minutes ago and it serve to our table, maybe we ordered 2 dishes only. want to try drunken cockles but as they mentioned it was not fresh hence they don't serve at that moment.
Tried out their chef recommended butter pork rib, it was soft but not to my favorite. 3 eggs Spinach is pretty standard for me. definitely will come to try other dishes.
Good zichar if you live around the hood. We ordered the super popular butter pork ribs , xo san lao horfun, fermented beancurd kang kong, fragrant tofu and crispy yam sticks (the best). Lots of people like the cockles too but we don't eat them
Good food, good location, good price. The signature buttermilk pork chop is just a tad sweet. Come early to avoid the long weekend dinner crowds that typically comes in abt 6.30pm!
Butter pork ribs had an overdose of milk powder over it. XO fish hor fun was average, no sign of wok hei at all. Cockles was good, rest ok. Would i come back again - unlikely.
Quick service though, seating no issue, mult storey carpark just beside.
I really hesitated if I should pen a review for this, as I've only savoured 2 dishes when I last visited this place -- Butter Pork Ribs and XO Sauce Hor Fun. But I guess I should still do so, but not in a conclusive way.
Butter Pork Ribs is touted as a must-order by a couple of reviewers and food bloggers out there, but I honestly just didn't find it smashing. I mean, I felt like I was eating dessert before the main course, as the pale yellow condiment powder, which really isn't anything butter but sweetened milk powder I believe, was just way too cloying for my tastebuds to bear.
And while the XO Sauce Hor Fun totally absorbed the intense wok-hei from deft stir-frying over high heat, it was dripping with seriously too much oil. And it didn't really taste like XO sauce for some reason I can't explain. I had expected it to taste something like a hor fun version of XO sauce carrot cake we commonly get to eat at dim sum restaurants, but it was somehow remotely similar.
I think I'll probably return to try the other offerings they have. But on my return, I'd most likely cross out these 2 dishes from my order list. 😅
Decided to go there for lunch after hearing so much hype about their "milk powder chicken" aka Butter chicken. Car park is located conveniently next to where Two chefs is located. Food came really fast (maybe after barely 10mins after ordering) however all the food came barely even warm. We went during lunch time about 12.15pm on a Tues, there were lessthan 15 people dining there at that time, to be served food that is barely warm is really a disappointment. Their signature Butter chicken taste good; similar to cereal prawns except for a slight sweet taste. We ordered black pepper deer meat (very small portion for $14; counted about 10 thin small slices of meat, taste is just average, to me its not really worth that price tag). We also ordered their signature tofu dish with meat sauce and spinach with century egg. These two dishes were almost tasteless. Overall the dining experience was barely average at most. Their Butter signature dish was the only thing that saved the day.
Food are very original in their own style. The bosses took effort to interact with the dinners. Can see that most of them know the bosses.
Serving was fast.
The signature "butter pork" was a powdered milk base generously sprinkled over the fried pork. Every munch of it bring sweetness followed by the tastful pork. You will ask for more.
Many other dishes to recommend, but will not flood this page.
You go try yourself!
Absolutely delicious dishes - esp the HK bee hoon, pork ribs, roasted chicken and shark’s fin soup!
Owner was friendly and service very efficient too!
Highly recommend this place!
If u want a different taste of the comon zi cha. This is e choice, must try is e cream powder pork. One of e stall u can find lunch also open.
Uhh maybe too high expectations, but I feel that the tzichar here is below average.
The signature butter milk powder pork ribs was interesting but very gao.
Healthy beancurd tastes as lackluster as the name suggests.
Trio egg spinach was pretty tasteless.
Same for claypot chicken.
Prawn omelette was decent.
Service was quite fast though, but overall nothing special about this place.
Good alternative to the busy branch that is Commonwealth . We tried their 辣子鸡 for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised by it! Portion was fine for 3pax too
However have to say that the 回乡豆腐 was a tad costly at $12 for the serving size. It looked overpriced by plating as the tofu was pretty small. For that reason, Would not order it again. However, taste wise was pretty fine.
Despite the disappointment with the tofu, would still rate 5 stars!
This outlet is run by 1 of 2 founders so quality is definitely taken care of. Great experience!
Ordered fish head curry, pork floss prawn roll (med), cockles (large) and long beans (med) cost $88. Taste ok. Price on high side
Sin Ming neighbourhood Kopitiam zi char, good value for money. Average per pax include beer $20.
Sin Min two chefs has moved to a new location. Just a few block away from its previous location. The dishes are great and flavourful. The location is great and there is a multi-storey carpark with lift which is wheel chair accessible and friendly. So much parking lot, do not have to worry about parking space if you are driving. The new area is so much spacious and windy. It is usually jam packed during the Chinese New Year. So be sure to make reservation to avoid having to wait for seats. There is also two popular atms and a FairPrice supermarket. Very convenient for withdrawing or money and do some grocery shopping after a sumptuous meal.
Had the Asam fish curry and the Seafood fried rice as well as the garlic and onion fish. All were fantastic, love the asam fish curry it was just the right amount of spice coupled with tang.
Shall definitely eat here again.
Absolutely great zichar! We got the sanlo horfun, fried rice, butter ribs (coated in milk powder) but the best dish was salted egg yolk prawn, never tasted any salted egg yolk as rich as this! So good :)
Good food at decent prices. The main outlet seems to have better quality.
Specious but maybe the dishes we ordered are not to our taste. Out of the 3 dishes, we give a better grade to their Claypole fish head.
Will we be going back? Very low chance despite only 10 mins drive away.
we like that the dishes were all served at the same time, rather than staggered.
fwiw, for the 6 of us, we had the curry fish head ($46, market price, a bit pricey, but portion was huuuge), long beans, milk powder pork chop, three egg chinese spinach, honey chicken, and dry hor fun.
the cfh was one of the better ones we’ve had. the mother liked it so much she ventured to the next-door supermarket to see if they have bread to dip with.
the dry hor fun (干炒河粉) is not on the menu, but is a must have for us every time we go. $8 for a medium portion - very reasonably priced.
[editing to add the following]
we came back the next day for father’s day dinner part 2 (with the other side of our family) and ordered pretty similar things. (see second picture)
restaurant was noticeably busier (with walk-in crowds getting told their wait time to get seated to be 1h) so the wait to get food served was understandable.
what was consistent, though, was the food quality! same dishes, same yumminess, diners equally pleased.
crab was excellent. could be that we asked for >1kg crab, which in our experience, are usually tastier. It helped that the restaurant did the crab justice.
Pretty good. Will return to eat.
Food nice, worth going the 2nd time and price wise reasonable.
Value for money and fast service. Recommend to go early like 6pm. Queue starts after 7pm.
One of the best Zi Char I had eaten.
Portion is good, food is reasonably priced.
The butter pork ribs is a must have!
Will definitely come back again
The coffee is always good. The tea is reasonable but on 23rd Feb my family went over for breakfast and the hot drinks very very bad. It was a different lady. I hope the usual lady will be around next weekend.
The food serve very fast. Nice and delicious.
Good food and service. Nice place to enjoy variety of fresh food.
Love the butter pork ribs and the mince meat tofu which goes well with rice
One of the better zi char in the area. Also with very reasonable and affordable pricing. Reunion dinner at this zi char place.
Had lunch at the zichar outlet here for the first time last month. The service crew is attentive as the weekday lunch time crowd is small. The horfan is served hot and the portion is good for the price. As it was a rainy day when I visited, it is quite cooling to dine alfresco. Will visit the place again to try their other zichar dishes.
Pretty good value for money, good selection of Singapore Chinese food
Food was served pretty fast. good price reasonable
Have not revisited since covid and went back for dinner. Only the fish head curry was ok, the rest of the dishes were mediocre at best. Especially disappointing was our favourite deep fried yam. Standard dropped drastically, coating not crispy like before and overfried. The signature butter pork ribs was also on dry side and taste overfried. Unfortunately I think their food now taste below average from normal czechar and yet more pricey so we won't be returning.
Went with family on Sunday before noon. Environment very relaxing, overlooking the lush greenery of bishan park, clean and spacious.
Had steamed red grouper, shark fins soup, fried venison with ginger and shallot, pork frost prawn ball, and three eggs spinach. All very yummy. Family enjoyed very much. The service is prompt. The food serving also super fast.
It was a delightful Sunday family lunch at reasonable price. Will be back again.
Great place for large groups to order food for sharing in a typical Chinese restaurant style. That, however, made it rather hard to reach across the large table so perhaps a lazy susan would help. Food was good but seems like it used to be better. But can't complain since it was cheaper than expected.
If you are in a rush, do not even consider grabbing a fast bite here. After order, usually it is a waiting game. But if you have all the time in the world, then this is a place. Due to the long Q, there's too many customers but too few crews to serve the dishes. The food really is yummy but make sure you have the time to wait.😉
Their business is really busy, suggest to make reservation.
Food is really tasty and many choices.
I like the coffee pork ribs, tender and flavourful.
The fried yam came last, we take it as dessert as it was deep fried till crispy crust and coated with sugar glaze. Nice! A little Heng Hua style.
Took the $338 set. Fish maw soup was tasty. Crab was fresh and decent. Other dishes like herbal chicken etc were average. The place allows cashless payment via SG-QR payment. Overall decent.
Milky pork ribs taste a little sweeter and saltier than before. But still a good place to get a nice variety of of tze char dishes. Price point is still value for money!
✅Good tasting
✅Affordable
✅Food arrives quickly
No reservation usually needed if you're early at 6pm
Order the dried fried mee Hoon and eat with the chili paste, soup of the day is great value for our small family/young kids, prawn roll, pork ribs are all great. Haven't really been disappointed by the food here before except for their crabs.
Prices are very affordable and nothing to fuss about if you are looking to feed a big group. Call in early to get your table reserved so you won't have any issues (esp. during Phase 2). The only downside is that some of the dishes are quite cold (lukewarm at best) as I suspect (which other people have commented) is they prepare in bulk beforehand. I won't be back in a hurry but it is worth a bookmark (given the cost). Worth noting that they accept PayNow so it helps with alternate payment.
Serving staff is polite and responsive. Food is tasty and enjoy the Hor fun got the "wok hei" taste. Portion wise just right.
Had lunch at this restaurant tuck away within HDB estate. The food were inexpensive and very good. We tried the butter pork rib, toufu and fried vegetable. There were other dishes but a party of two could only eat that much. With definitely return for more.
Book 2 tables of Dragon Year Reunion Dinner. Wheelchair accessible.
Boss Mr Hua very friendly and patient.
Had dinner there the red grouper is amazing the honey fried chicken was amazing too herbal chicken soup is a must try. Beside it also has a big supermarket to let ppl who were living in the area
We ordered ahead and collected. Food was ready on time. Prices are very reasonable and food quality is excellent.
Have not been to this Sin Ming branch but have been to the Commonwealth branch several years ago where i enjoyed the milk powder pork ribs, coffee pork ribs, lala in chilli padi soy sauce etc. At this branch, had the 3 eggs spinach and fish which were pretty good. Had higher expectations of the milk powder pork ribs which tasted hard and dry on that day though.
local zi char delicacies. Simply good and reasonable price. the milk powder pork rib is good. Their signature dish. Can shop fairprice supermarket after dinner which is next to the coffeeshop.
Good place to dine , must try butter pork rib ... Advice is when order their fish , becos mostly their fish of medium size good for a family of 4 to 6.... so when u going with 3 person can ask for smaller size fish ... Customer service is to standard ....
Cost n clean place to eat dinner with family
Decent tze char food that's not too expensive. We had the San lo hor fun which was served very fast and it was moderately tasty. Plenty of parking nearby.
Don't order the salted egg pork ribs but I highly recommend the garlic chicken, tofu and of course their signature the hor fun extremely delicious
Was there on valentines day night. It was empty . Price was reasonable. No service charge n GST .
"THE PRATA IS MUST TRY" Damn you pay less for super big portion of tasty food...should try the butter pork rib...simply awesome
Pretty decent food for a great price. Try the milk powder pork ribs!
Quite unique food option here, like the buttered pork ribs, flossy shrimp balls, and rejuvenating tofu.
Pretty much the whole food court is owned by this stall.
Came here after seeing all the good review.
Service is good and fast.
Food is above the standard. We ordered fried egg, hot plate tofu, black pepper beef, fish slice hofun, fried bee hoon.
There is nothing particularly delicious in ordinary Chinese restaurants. The food is served very quickly and seems to have been prepared. The food is brought out immediately after the customer orders.
Nice Chinese Zichar (Zhu Cha) store under a HDB block. The San Lao Hor Fun is recommended.
Delicious 😋
