Reviews of Warm Up Cafe @Mackenzie Road
Location is near Litter India MRT . Just a turn is like out of Singapore , really really a Thai style cafe , feel like in Thailand !! All the Thai food are so delicious and authentic! Must try they lemongrass grilled chicken skewers and boat noodle ! Price are so reasonable! Atmosphere 5 stars!!
Hidden gem in the city.
Make me feel like I’m in Thailand.
Basil pork rice is awesome. Will be back again!
Free dessert at the end because mango out of stock when we wanted mango sticky rice.
Authentic little Thai hideout.
Good for late night hangout.
Not exactly cheap. We paid about 40 per pax
Be careful if you request dishes to be spicy.
They ain't stingy with the chilli.
Absolutely love the Thai coconut coffee!!
Another late night spot which we found when we were googling on late night cravings food list.
Conveniently across a carpark so no need to worry where to park when we have to dash across.
Full blown Thai vibes when we get there with great song choices.
Now because is supper, we decide to tackle straight into noodles instead and it was the right choice!
All the workers there were mostly Thai and bustling with Thai languages.
Tom yum egg noodles was awesome with the Al dente noodles texture and the spicy soup (you can ask them to be less spicy), beef noodles were full on and the broth was thick and cling well to every bit of the Thai rice noodles. Portions were generous too!
We also ordered a fish sauce cabbage and it goes well, crunchy and a palate cleanser.
Next time definitely will come back to try out other ala carte dishes.
Favourite is their raw prawn. Highly recommend and go with some beer. Parking is directly opposite.
They have an open space area at the back. The vibes bring you back to Bangkok
We have order few dish for trying. Chili paste chicken a bit sweet and we prefer more spicy. The Tomyum seafood soup, braised pork belly, boat noodles and ruby dessert is recommended. Outdoor quick hot and environment so far is ok but during afternoon will be very hot. You can request to sit inside with aircon but limited place. The price a bit high but service is good. All the food price on menu excluding of GST. To be honest I felt very thirsty after had dinner. Hopefully will reduce the usage of MSG, thank you.
I had pad Thai and chicken skewer for lunch. Pad Thai was authentic and flavourful. But the chicken is a little dry for me. The service was impeccable. Overall dining experience was great. Will definitely return to try more dishes
A nice Thai restaurant with good food and drinks. The atmosphere is great. If you miss Thailand food you must give here a try.
Food were great and tasty, cafe was cozy and well lit. Sticky rice was a little too lumpy but the rest of the dishes were amazing.
4.5+ stars. Went in end 2022.
Food quality:
+ Very authentic Thai food, looking at menu reminds me immediately of Bangkok! Friend told me the owner paid million to buy and bring recipe from chef in Thailand to Singapore!
+ Steamed fish very fresh and tender, Chinese restaurant standard, spices are Thai store and goes very well with fish.
+ Thai boat noodle delicious and authentic, suggest to get small bowl of sharing other dishes.
+ Big steamed prawn is very fresh.
Food portion / Price:
+ Portions are good. Prices comparable to restaurants in Singapore.
Service:
+ Very attentive waiters.
- They might get some orders incorrect so make sure to also check the bills upon payment. However the restaurant will correct any mistakes quickly.
Crowd:
+ Expect crowd during mealtime for both indoors and outdoors seating. Would recommend making reservations even as small group and especially for larger groups.
Payment:
Card, cash accepted.
Food quality:
Authentic Thai food just by looking at the menu. The fish is fresh and tender and first time eating this style. Not bad but still love the steamed fish. The somtum is nice and spicy. The sticky rice is a bit hard.
Food portion / Price:
The portion is just right and price wise is standard restaurant price.
Service:
Most of the staff can speak Thai and really seems like you are in Thailand. They were attentive and friendly. They greeted us goodbye when we walked out of the door.
Crowd:
It was not crowded when we were there during lunch time on a weekday for the outdoors seating but indoor were full house.
Payment:
Card, QR code and cash
Wonderful authentic Thai food in a relaxed setting. Friendly service too!
Food here, never fails to satisfy. Good food, nice drinks and desserts with ample parking.
Seemed very underwhelming at first! But when we entered, there was this back alley which led to a really rustic and authentic thai feeling! Best part of it was that it was cooling and clean!
Food wise, ZERO complaints! The prices were all nett and the food came quickly! Then when we tasted the food… wow, no regrets coming here! Both aesthetic and delicious, really hard not to come back again!
Recommended by an Isan friend. Mentioning that they serve really nice Isan food here and also especially their boat noodles.
6 of us shared all these in the pictures.
We had:
Esan Sausage. It is a typical sausage you would find in the northeastern part of thailand. Unique sourness to it, an acquired taste which not many people can accept. I find it authentic.
Braised Beef Tendon and Pork boat noodles. The boat noodles were definitely delicious. It's a good portion where 2 can share 1 bowl to be able to enjoy other dishes. Highly recommended to order.
Premium pork jowl. Nice grilled pork cheeks. Nice fattiness and the meat is so tender. Dip into the chilli sauce that comes with it. Boomz!
Steam fish with spicy lime soup. This is a definite must order if you are dining in with a group. Best dish for sharing. Fish is quite fresh and good portion.
Isan chicken and salad set. This is a grilled half chicken and a som tum in a 2-tier dish. Chicken was ok although meat slightly dry. Som tum is really good, spiciness can be requested.
Crab meat fried rice. Normal portion like DTF. Crab meat pieces not really alot but the rice is nice. Yummy.
Thai fried omelette. We ordered the plain one without any ingredients. Very good indeed. Will order this again if revisiting.
Overall the food is nice. Service provided is efficient. Great dining experience.
update: the owner was super nice and refunded us
the restaurant charged us x2 of every drink when we only ordered 1 of every drink (and were only served 1 of every drink)? i know it's our fault for not checking the bill properly, but the place was dark and screen was very small so we couldn't see the bill clearly. there's obviously something wrong with the ordering procedure and system. food was good though and nice atmosphere outdoors.
Was nearby and decided to try out this place based on the reccomendation of a friend. It is a hidden gem!
We had the phad thai, creamy crab omelette and braised beef rice. Every dish was on point. Wow.
The drinks were great too. We had a cold lemongrass drink and a coconut ice blended. Drinks were not diluted. Thick and flavorful.
Food also came promptly.
The only downside is that it was pretty warm (is that why the cafe is called warm up cafe?), the aircon was pretty much non-exsitent and we were perspiring as we ate even though it was in the night.
Other than that, atmosphere is chill and cosy. Music isn't too loud and it's easy to have conversations.
Despite it being a thai food place, their menu consisted of many non-spicy options too and their menu is pretty extensive.
Very authentic!!
I went there with my Thai friend and she said the taste is very authentic.
You can enjoy the real Thai flavour in little India/ Newton without going to Thailand!!!
Most of the foods are very spicy 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
You must ask staff not to make foods spicy if you have low spice tolerance.
They sometime forgot to make foods less spicy even you ask.
Emphasise staff to reduce chilli as much as you can .
Boat noodle is amazing.
Small bowl is only $2.10 and you can choose noodle.
Outdoor table is recommended.
Beef boat noodles is very hearty and came with lots of ingredients (but might just be a lil overly salty!)
Thai iced milk tea really hits the spot!
Food was good, especially the fish! The atmosphere was great too, and service was superb! Had a birthday celebration here and our friend loved it!
The boat noodles were fantastic!!!! I love the broth and the meat was tender. 5/5
But sadly the tomsep was very disappointing, it was tasty enough, and the meat inside was tough, didn’t feel authentic and definitely not worth it at all for $15, another bowl of boat noodles would definitely be better. Amount of meat was pathetic and there was minimal mushroom.
Fried pork was ok, omelette was good!
Nice boat noodles. One of the better few Thai boat noodles in Singapore. Tom yum ok ok. But overall good food. Recommended to make reservations if going in a big group. Saw a group of 6 waited for more than 40 mins
Spicy beef boat noodles was spicy for me (I am mala xiao la pls, thanks). ~$9.90
Can choose the type of noodles you want. The beef is really tender and the beef meatbowl is firm and chewy. Ordered Rice noodles. Not bad lah.
My friends tried the Tom yum, not bad. Spicy, tangy and not too salty ~$10.90
Thought that it is quite expensive though for boat noodles, and in such a ulu place.
Thai crispy pork came a little wetter than expected but it was pretty good. Very crispy..not for those who have issue biting into cripsy tough skin.
Indoors and outdoors seats, outside is really hot!
Drinks are pretty standard .
Superb authentic Thai food. Food is strong in flavour and comes with huge portions. I've ordered pork boat noodles, crab omelette, and thai milk tea. Everything is as good as recommended.
A really good place to try authentic thai food in sg while having the feel that you were flown striaght into the heart of Thailand! Staff are also really good and friendly. Definitely a good place to check out!
Excellent sweet blue 🦀 salad! nice ambience friendly staff. Many items to recommend, for 1st time highly recommend beef boat noodles must try!
1st visit. Really like the braised pork boat noodle. The taste is so flavourful n very authentic.
Highly recommend n can’t wait to try other dishes. U can see they have a lot of Thai staff working there.
Good supper spot as they open till late.
2nd visit. Order the pineapple fried rice & it’s so good that it’s like top 3 for me in sg. Highly recommend
Also order the normal pork boat noodles which taste similar to braised boat noodles. Still good
The clear seafood tom yum soup comes with a lot of seafood although not
Very fresh. It’s not too bad.
Pretty authentic and very nice Thai food (except the desserts which cannot fight with those in BKK). Price is reasonable as well. Highly recommended.
Food was pretty good. The front of the cafe looks unassuming, but there are more seats at the back with a pretty nice ambience.
Overall would come again if we crave Thai food.
## ♥️ The great/must try:
* Premium Pork Jowl
Meat was very fatty, very shiok.
* Pineapple fried rice
Very fragrant. Loved it.
* Green curry
One of the best in Singapore. If there is any place that does it as good, I don't know it.
## 👌 The ok/still good:
* Salted egg prawns
* Tom Yum soup
* Tom Sup (pork flavour quite strong, so see preference. If you don't eat pork liver, don't get this)
* Basil pork
* Steam fish (fish was fresh and doesn't have a lot of bones)
* Papaya salad
## 🤷 The meh:
× Boat noodles (maybe personal taste, I thought it was okay only)
× Mango sticky rice (the coconut milk v watery, mango is sour. Maybe seasonal?)
Authentic Thai food!
Went at 6pm and was informed the outdoor seating are fully booked for the evening.
However staff was kind enough to check the bookings and was able to give us a table which was booked for 7pm..
Nice cosy ambience and outdoor seats are well ventilated. They also provide giant cooler fan to cool down the place.
Ordered the Thai Beef Boat Noodle, Phat Thai and Crispy Pork ..
Thai noodle was full of flavour and a bit spicy which was very much to our liking.
Phat Thai was delicious too, just like what we had in Thailand. Comes with big prawns too.
The crispy pork was well marinated and was really crispy but not hard. Chilli sauce to compliment the dish was abit too little though.
Ordered a lemonglass drink to go with the food.
Total damage $39
Definitely recommended and will be back to try the other dishes.
Amazing, authentic food. Boat noodles were excellent, and surprisingly (only because none of the reviews mentioned it) so was the pad thai. The basil chicken & Kai yang were okay
Had a great experience dining here at warm up cafe on a busy Friday night. Reached the cafe quite early at about 7pm. Initially I stood at the front Entrance while waiting for my partner to arrive. However, didn't notice anyone inside the cafe and also saw that the indoor dining area was very small and cramp. When my partner arrived, she told me that there's actually a outdoor dining area behind the indoor area and it is pretty huge! Do rememeber to book your slot especially during peak hours on weekend and weekdays as the indoor and outdoor dining area can get pretty full quickly.
They serve primary Thai food in this cafe. This includes mookata and classic Thai dishes. I ordered the Thai basi pork rice, Boat noodles as well as their signature Tom yum soup in thick broth. The Thai basi pork was on point but I think it can be a little bit spicier. The texture and flavours of the basil pork is just right and taste. The Thai tom yum thick broth is one of the best I had so far. The thick broth is full of flavours and wasn't too overwhelming in terms of the Tom yum flavours. One thing I didn't like was that they added too much lemon grass to the soup. The boat noodles tasted very herbal, I'm not sure if the noodles were hand made but it tasted very soft and silky.
Overall, I recommend people who love Thai food to come and visit this nice and cosy cafe in the outskirts of Little India Mrt Station. It is within walkable distance and this cafe also open until late night in order to cater for people who wants to drink as there's a mini bar inside the indoor area. Just remember to call in and make your reservation!
Pretty authentic Thai food cafe. Less than 10 mins walk from Little India MRT, this cafe tucked in Mackenzie Rd was a pleasant find. The food was good, slightly salty but still delicious. Really liked the Thai boat noodles as the soup was very tasty. The meat on the moo ping was a bit too thin but nicely grilled. Crab omelette was one of my fav dish. Felt it was better than Flying Pig. Less oily and very creamy. Thai omelette was delicious too, nicely fried and juicy (probably cause of all the oil 😂). Overall had a pleasant dining experience.
Food is nice and Service is good. Ample parking!
Highly recommended 👍Authentic Thai food hidden along Mackenzie Road. 3 minutes walk from Little India Station exit C.
Just order what you see👏👏👏
Food and service was really awesome and authentic. Recommended to visit!
Was drinking nearby and friend wanted supper and was told to try this Thai food place. Both food and price is acceptable. We choose the outdoor seat coz the indoor have some funny smell. As it was our 1st time there so not too sure about the smell and do not want to jump to conclusions. I love the coconut shake.
Amazing and delicious thai food! Totally worth all the rave and popularity. We had Boat Noodles Beef which was 10/10 flavourful and I loved the beef tendon! Tomyam Egg Noodles came in a huge bowl and its the clear soup version, more on the tangy spicy side. The best dish that you MUST ORDER is Fried Garlic Pork!!! Omg its so damn crispy and with the dipping sauce together was perrrrfect. Highly recommend! To end off we had Red Ruby to share, legit huge chestnut red ruby.. very crunchy and great mouth feel. Its topped with jackfruit, not too overpowering.
Will definitely revisit!
Came here on New Year’s Day. Ordered the Pandan chicken which was recommended dish on menu, Mooping, Tom Yam Egg Noodle, Boat Noodle (Pork). Pandan chicken and mooping were average even though it’s a recommended dish on menu. Tom Yam egg noodle & Pork Boat Noodle were very good - broth was excellent and noodle al dente.
Authentic Thai food in a secluded valley, would love to come back! Most of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, though a few seemed less welcoming—perhaps just having her bad day :)
Hidden gem for authentic thai food. Nice place outdoor feels like on the rooftop! Good food and good for hangout. Close very late at night.
Are you a fan of Thai cuisine like me?
Woohoo I am so delighted to have found this cosy place that serves up good food!
A hidden gem in this area. Those in the know will know is authentic.😋 Always crowded and suggest to make reservations before you head down. Keep up the great work and stay safe. 🤗
This is my second time here!!
I had ordered alot of food and all of them are authentic Thai taste and nice but salted egg sotong was really hard to chew and abit disappointed with crab omelette with rice.
Staffs are nice and friendly , except the one that received orders from are frustrating because we asked him if we could keep the menu first to see if we will order more later but he rejected and kept away the menu immediately with unhappy mood and tone and said “ there is not enough menu” which after that he just put it back with alot of them on the shelf.
The environment is nice and suitable to chill.
Recommend to try 👍🏻
Authentic Thai is served here. Their specialty is guay tiao reu or Boat noodles. Seabass with herbs is excellent
Tom yum and pork boat noodles was full of flavour, spicy, sweet, sour, smokey, spicy, rice noodles smooth af. Make a reservation in advance for weekends to avoid disappointment.
Food was good. The yum mana salad was mind and tongue-blowing. 😋 would had been 5 stars as timeliness of food was better and communication of status of order was better communicated.
Had to wait 30-40 mins for our order to come and we had to check with staff on our order 3 times. Only when we checked with them then they process our food and for food that was out of stock, we were only told when we did a check in of the status of the food.
Their fried pork is great! Highly recommend to get it. Basil pork with rice was okay, fried egg that came with it was on point.
I saw this place via TikTok & it’s really delicious & amazing!
Especially the boat noodles, very flavorful
Customer service staff, namtarn was very polite too :)
Appreciate their help
We used to frequent the one at POMO mall before it shuttered for renovations. The new place at the marina square unfortunately did not live up to our expectations as the taste of our favourites was somehow different. On a hunch we tried the Warm Up Cafe and boy were we happy to have tried again. The original flavours were back and we are going to be regular here.
Never thought it would be possible to fall even deeper in love with Thai food than I already am. This place made the impossible happen. EVERY. SINGLE. VISIT.
I know, the queue can be a little (lot) long, and it may take awhile to get served. But trust me, it's worth it. If you can't wait, call to make a reservation. MAKE PLANS TO EAT HERE CAUSE IT'S WORTH IT.
Every mouthful made my heart tingle.
The spicy, sour steamed fish filled my heart as much as it filled my tummy and this is my MUST ORDER dish.
Crab omelette was a surprise order on my 5th or 6th visit here! Surprise! I love it and it's probably gonna be a dish I'm gna order everytime now. The silkiness, hot, oozy runny omlette paired really well with the thick chunks of crab meat.
Phad Thai was so good, I had to order another one for takeaway as my next day's lunch. The rice noodles - perfectly cooked, seasoned and fresh ingredients.
Is near Little India MRT, walk 15 mins. Remember to bring umbrella you might need it.
Foods there really nice and they open until 3am. Highly recommend for night owl 😅
What a gem! Cozy Thai restaurants with amazing authentic Thai food. Boat noodle and their Tom yum were spot on. Highly recommended.
Best thai food ever!! Especially the Amazing Boat noodles, I can say this is the best boat noodles in Singapore. Nice place for hanging with friends and ur loved one. Good service and friendly staff. Feeling like home away from home. Recommended 👍🏻🥳❤️
Food and staff are great. Would recommend the tomyum soup (loved it), basil pork and the creamy crab omelette. The coconut milk custard dessert was surprisingly yummy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Good food but the power went down. There’s mosquito at the outdoor area. Otherwise, I’m coming back with insect repellent.
Very good food. Finish everything. Will come back.
Food is delicious and reasonable priced. Good ambience. Ordered too much for 4 pax!
Very good service from Mahesh. Always leave us a smile every time we visited here. Good food and nice vibes.
Good food! I love the pad thai!! Good atmosphere toooo~ Love sitting outdoors
Make a reservation if you are coming down as it is super popular and the food and staff are very helpful and friendly and offered us water while we waited and it was worth the wait
One of the better Thai restaurant in Singapore. Very busy during peak hours. Highly recommended!
Nice and cozy
Have both indoor and outdoor dinning area
Both the Boat And Tomyum Yen Ta Fu was good
The rest is just so soo
Crab omelette was tip top delicious, wasn't in time to take any photo and it's gone. Ordered 4pax Mookata and the meat was overflowing and prawns were big and fresh. Very little places in Singapore uses the traditional charcoal style anymore. Visit while you can!
Their Thai omelette, boat noodles and roasted pork belly are the best
The staff are friendly and the boat noodles (pork) is superb!
Unlike other Thai restu, which the Thai cooks for Singaporeans. This one the Thai cooks for fellow Thais. Generous with portion too.
Amazing! Very nice food! The staff was so friendly
The amazing part about this place isn't the exterior looks but the backyard of the restaurant. The ambience was amazing and the food was just as good! Just a heads up, we did experience a few power trips while we were there but apparently it happens quite often, which replicates dining in Thailand so I would say it really adds to the mood too!
Food is always good. Will be coming back soon.
Nice food and environment.
Great vibes, staff are friendly.
Boat noodles are really good! I highly recommend the beef boat noodles and the crab omelette.
Probably one of my favourite Thai places in Singapore! Boat noodles flavours really on point. Other dishes such as omelette and Pandan chicken are really delicious too. Basil pork is slightly dry for my liking, can make do with more sauce.
Generally the portion sizes are quite generous justifying the slightly higher price point.
Aroy Mak! Very good food and friendly staff.
Nice ambience
Authentic Thai food
Cool settings for outdoor dining area
Food is delicious but the drinks were bad, especially the thai milk tea and ice blended coconut. Thai milk tea was diluted and coconut ice blended was very sweet. Food wise the crab omelette and the premium jowl were good.
Went there for late supper, they didnt allow us to take the outdoor seat. Kept waving no.. dun bother buying the small boat noodle cuz it’s a only one mouth bowl of noodle only. Boat noodle is nice but the soup is way too salty to drink for comfort… ask for peanut garnish n they stare blankly. Yes thailand garnishes serve peanut… music was a tad too loud for comfort as well. Chicken tendon n crispy pork is nice but pretty high price. Tom yum soup is meh.. n phad thai is nice.
The boat noodles are very nice and authentic. Their portions of the dishes are very big and very tasty.
Highly recommend!!!
Cosy place for group dinner. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Place is run by Thais so I think the food is authentically Thai. Had the outdoor seating at night, and found it to still be cooling as the restaurant provided sufficient fans and coolers. There is also a public carpark opposite the restaurant. Would highly recommend, especially the Tom Yum soup, Pandan chicken and fried omelette.
Chill restaurant with a lot of seating, ample parking lots which is very convenient. Food was great and good service. Boat noodles and Thai fish was delicious and awesome place to hang out with friends.
Love the vibes and the food. Very authentic Thai food :)
Best boat noodles I've had with yummy beef tendon meat(ordered 2nd bowl). Nice Moo Ping too.
Nice Thai food place with an equally nice and relaxed ambience. Like their steam fish and the green curry.
Delicious Thai food The taste is more delicious than many famous restaurants in Thailand. Give it to this branch.
Very delicious, very Thai flavor
Great place! In the area, the best we've had. I wouldn't even hesitate to say that the food is worthy of Michelin. Very nice guys, I feel like I’ve been to Thailand, in the best sense, from the heart of Kapunkaa! 🙏🥰
Thai restaurant, very delicious.
very good food and service! staff were very friendly and food was very authentic ✨ tried the coconut chicken soup, pork jowl and boat noodles. all the dishes we tried were hits! we'll be back :)
Authentic Thai Food. Nice boat noodles compare to Golden Mile. Price is pricey, but food is nice. Still worth it!
Authentic Thai food! So yummy 😚😚
