Reviews of West Co'z Cafe
A halal zi char gem at West Coast! Every dish pictured here was so good. I was too late to capture the full sweet & sour fish dish cause we ate it too quickly. Very polite and attentive service staff too. 🙏🏻
Other dishes ordered:
1. Sweet & sour fish
2. Sambal kangkong
3. Chicken beancurd
My friend made a reservation, if not i think we would have to wait for very long.. It was full when we reached on a Saturday night, about 7:40pm. The food came pretty fast! It was a great meal! We forgot to order rice so the aunty asked us and it wasn’t paid yet. We also forgot about it until we received a call from them after we have left the mall 😅 So we head back to pay for it and they were nice enough to just charge us $8 w/o gst.
Halal cafe. Sedap assam fish head 👍 Many varieties in the menu.
Attentive staff, food serve fast. My regular eating place.
We ate the fish curry whereby we can choose head or tail part. We chose the tail part. Curry was not too spicy, fish meat is tendered. There r other ingredients lik tau pok, long beans, Brinjals n some cabbage. We also ordered drinks lik the sour sop n it had the fruit flesh in it, tasted v nice. The waiter n waitress served our meals fast n they r friendly.
However i jus felt the seating arrangement is slightly cramped. No doubts tis is to get as much customers as possible.
The cafe has a variety of other zi char dishes as well.
Visited during peak lunch hour and took a while to get the attention of a staff member. After what was longer than necessary, we were finally noticed. After being shown to a table, the efficiency improved and menu was promptly made available. The food came in an exceptionally short period of time, which is a plus point. However, of the 3 dishes we ordered, only the fish head curry was good. The beef was extremely tough, and resembled rubber. The sauce for the hot plate tofu was too salty to be enjoyed, and I have a decent amount of tolerance for seasoning. Despite asking for condiments, like chilli etc, nothing of that sort surfaced even when we were done with the meal. Awarding this 3 stars solely for the fish head curry, the only saving point for our entire meal experience.
Brought my family of 3 to dinner here again (been here for a few times before). Although it’s crowded with 3 other families in queue ahead, the staff have a queue system where they take down your Hp number on an order chit. One of the staff even brought a chair for my elderly dad to sit down while waiting because they do not have a big enough waiting area.
We waited for about 10 minutes and got a table smoothly. While waiting I’ve already checked out the menu and ready to place order once we got our table. The food came very quickly within 5-10min.
- Sweet & Sour fish slices
- Fried beef kway teow (Must order! Got wokhey!)
- Claypot bean curd
- Spinach soup w mince chicken meat
Overall service was good and prompt with good food and short wait time! 👍🏽
Amazing dining experience here with the curry fish head being the star of the show! Do try the char kway teow too, and 3-egg spinach. Service is rapid, the food is good and in large servings, and very filling.
Just visited the restaurant on 10 Jun (Sat) with friends. Curry fish head was as yummy. Fish head was big and very fresh. Oyster egg and french beans were also delicious.
This is a popular lunch time venue for great zichar, curry fish head in a aircon place. The restaurant is always full, so do make a reservation if you are in big group.
I highly recommend the claypot golden chicken, curry fish head, fried egg oysters and fried kway teow. They are a halal restaurant which completely surprised me. I have never been to a halal restaurant which cook delicious zi char dishes. The price is very reasonable and portion is good. For a 10 pax dinning, the best deal will be ordering a set menu plus a few extra dishes. You then get to try a little for all their popular dishes
Went for a light dinner. The curry fish slice is a change if u don't want to eat the curry fish head. The curry fish head is their signature but the portion is too huge for 2.
Sambal kang kong is a good size portion. Enough sambal for us, not too spicy and could taste the har bee.
Their set menu is not bad too.
Can call and order.
Payment by card, fave or cash.
Been ard west coast plaza the longest and restaurant has been renovated.
Not a very eye catching restaurant tucked at level two of west coast plaza but it’s always crowded with people. This halal restaurant serve Zhi Char dishes that tasted like Chinese ones even though it’s halal. Curry fish head was really good and black pepper beef was tender surprisingly. Salted egg sotong was addictive. Tie ban doufu was quite disappointing and panda chicken was a tack too tasteless imo. Better to come here early or call for reservations as seats are quite limited.
Have been eating their food for many years. Really like their claypot golden chicken. The chicken is crispy and the sauce is really great tasting.
The Assam curry fish ahead is also a staple for my family. We will wipe clean everything with only bones left.
Their Kang Kong is also pretty nice. These items are basically the standard items that we get here.
Curry fish head is nice! The fried fish is not too bad for the promotional add-on price. Rest of the dishes are meh but acceptable. Will be back to try the assam fish :)
Yummy Tze Char. Food served very quickly 👍🏽👍🏽 the fish doesn’t taste fresh, a bit fishy but the sauce is good. The Tofu is sweetly sauced and taste great.
Wonderful curry fish head! It's spicy, creamy, a little sour and savoury. It's everything you want in a curry fish head. The fish head was also quite meaty and you can get quite a lot of meat from it. I liked the beancurd rolls too, soaked in the sauce. It was so good I ate twice of what I usually eat, diet begone. Would completely be back again, even though it's not very convenient for me. And it's halal! So it's quite easy to bring large groups of friends too.
Food taste better than it looks . Dishes around $10 (small).
Environment was calm & peaceful. One of my companion said the tom yom noodles wasn’t that good. But the beef fried rice & minced chicken beancurd was awesome.
Food is yummy, portion is not stingy. Atmosphere is cozy, we can still chat among ourselves. Service ok
Pineapple rice was quite bland. Mee goreng and Thai milk tea were within expectations. The overall taste could have been better.
Tried their signature Curry Fish head for 20$
Absolutely fantastic pricing
Their food used to be better however for a Zi char stall in west coast plaza it fairs pretty well amongst the competition around the area providing similar cuisines choices
All of the dishes ordered were very yummy 😋
Price was decent and the shop was spacious.
Staff was attentive as well.
Would definitely recommend this place.
Halal friendly
The food here is so good!! They are best known for their curry fish head and it’s for all the good reasons 🤤 You can easily clear your rice with this. They also surprisingly have the best tomyum I have had - it’s perfectly balanced in spice and sourness!
I love it thier curry fish head. Oyster ommlet also nice.
Food are okay. But have to wait quite long after you ordered.By the way,Its Halal.Prices seem reasonable.Services are good too. So overall is good. You can give it a try.
Loved the Assam fish head, nice salted egg sotong. Value for money and fast in serving orders. Crowded during meal times.
The service is excellent and staff are very friendly. They know where to seat me everytime I come to eat.
Great place to have lunch with friends and colleagues!
The dishes here are generally nice. I would recommend getting the Dry Beef Hor Fun, Prawn Paste Chicken, Oyster Omelette and Sweet and Sour Fish.
Finally, we got to taste their famous fish head curry. And now I know why. The fish is freshest I have tasted in years.
At $22 per serving it is a steal. At $20 for the "shark's fin" it is way overpriced- but tastes good.
$63 total bill was a bit unexpected.
Noticed lots of families with happy faces throughout the meal. So must be a well kept secret. Given the almost full house everyone knows the place - and we stays in the West.
This restaurant one of the few options available in west coast plaza that offers decent food.
The meals I find to be tad overpriced for the quantity and quality though, but as I mentioned, it's the best of the lot available.
Good thing is they have not deteriorated over time. The quality is same as what I had 3-4 years back.
One of the cons is that they close early, but such is the case with all the stores in west coast plaza.
The best part: affordable and the food is really flavourful. My favorites are the lo han jai, the fish head curry, and the chicken fried rice.
The good: this place evokes nostalgia. In the early days of the west, this restaurant is one of the earliest tenants of west coast Plaza.
The bad: some waiting time on Sundays.
The place is quite comfortable. I like the open air environment.
Bz at lunch and dinner.
Food always stays the same taste from 10yrs ago till today.
Curry fish head was delicious as always
Worth every penny.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch this afternoon at West Co'z cafe at West Coast Plaza.
Was recommended this place for its good curry fish head. Indeed, l was not disappointed.
The piping hot and aromatic curry fish head was delicious and the fish was tender and fresh. The claypot chicken was well done and flavourful. Both the french beans with shrimps and hotplate mixed vegetables were also nice.
The cafe is clean and service is prompt and friendly and l certainly would return to try other dishes.
This is a halal seafood cafe, the food taste great and the serving portion is big. Try the fish head curry if you are looking for spicy dish.
Delicious food, especially the fish head curry. The curry is fragrant and goes very well with the rice. All other dishes were served piping hot with no delay.
The set meal for 4-6 people gives a good amount of variety and helps a lot in deciding what to order.
If coming for lunch, arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Excellent customer service. We have been regulars for many years. Crowd favourite is the fish head curry but I prefer the Assam Fish head. There are lots of dishes to try. Keep up the great work. 👍
It was my first time there eating with my family yesterday. I wasn't so sure what to order and I ended up ordering their signature dish which was the Fish Head Curry and my my it was the best and the first time I tasted a Fish Head Curry that was so delicious alongside Sambal Kang Kong. The service crew was good and they kept up with customers orders. I would highly recommend people to have a taste of it there!
Nice place and very friendly staff. However in 2024, curry fish tail price increased from $28 to $34.
The Assam Fish Head is a MUST order list! The sour taste just nice to whet your appetite. Overall portion is big and really worth the money. Other dishes are great too, would recommend their oyster egg omelette. The lack of 1 star given is because I noticed their 2 persons set meal don't seem cheaper than À la carte though.
Ordered double fish fried rice, lemon chicken, hotplate tofu, tapioca leaves, cream sauce prawns. Although we didn’t order their signature curry fish head, we still had a wonderful meal!
Great food and super friendly staff.
The Dry beef Kway Teow is my favourite but plenty of options to choose from.
Service is quick
Nice food but price increased recently. Oyster omelette is good
Ok not bad but there's no sting Ray and cockles
Their signature curry fish slices was good
Our favourite curry fish head restaurant in Singapore. Very suitable for family gatherings. Many round tables for large family gatherings with many baby chairs available.
Seriously the best tze char in SG, both curry and Assam fish head very affordable, besides that my favs are cereal squid, har cheong gai, hotplate tofu and sambal kangkong. Island wide delivery available.
Affordable and tasty good food. Our family's typical weekend lunch! Love their Assam fish head curry.
Superb Curry and Asam Fish Head !! Pricing and other dishes also tasty.
Very very nice Asian food at affordable prices
Good Curry fish head. It's halal. Reasonable price. Servers r good. Maybe crowded at times
Our first time here. Good food, reasonable price. It was crowded when we came on a Sat night and had to wait quite awhile before there was a table for us. So, best to reserve ahead
food is pretty typical, nothing too special! food took ard 30 mins to be served
Good affordable zichar food in air conditioned comfort. The fish head curry is awesome!
Must Try place for fish head curry.
Can accommodate large group (we were a group of 12 incl. kids). Food was good quality. Can get really, really crowded though.
Authentic assam and fish head curry. Worth the trip! Plus, it's in a small local mall.
Very good food, fast service. Halal Chinese. Prices ok, but beware service charge added.
Omg this is a halal restaurant well known for their fish head curry. Of cos we tried the fish head curry it was so shiok!
Great that they are open today on Eve of cny. Service was good and food was ready for takeaway within 7mins.
Mee goreng so nice..Got wok hey! My fav 😋
Chinese style food. Reasonable price can bring family here.
Minor changes after its underwent some renovation, have not change its great service and taste! Welcome back!
Salty but tasty halal Chinese Singaporean food at a reasonable price in air con comfort
Happy eating here and I am satisfied.1st time eating here and sedap sangat.!
Nice zhi char food, with good and professional staff in servicing the customer.

Tze char in an air con environment. What's not to like. Food is good too.
Went only once. It seems full always. Food is ok
Good fish head curry at decent prices
Great place for group gathering, food is good.
It's OK
Assam fish head is yummy
I had an invitation for Indonesian fish curry with rice, kang kong with sambal, kailam, shrimp with oatmeal. In addition, well-seasoned noodles and tofu, chines. Tea. Wonderful
Black pepper beef sweet
The seafood sizzling tofu tastes very ordinary
The environment is not bad.
