Reviews of Terra & Ember | Ceramic Pottery Class in Singapore
I attended the 5 weeks introductory wheel throwing class in January, and it was a really good experience for me, covering the full breadth of taking a piece of clay from the pack to firing it in the kiln.
I really like that the class size is small (for me it was 6 pax) and conducive for learning. Alan was very patient in showing us the ropes (even when I wasn’t ha ha) and takes care to explain all the relevant concepts and techniques to us.
The studio is quite new and very neat and is rather centrally located. There’s also an open studio membership where you can come and practice in your own time, which I will be back for as well.
Attended the 2 hour workshop and it was an interesting experience. It looks easy but doing it is tough and you really don't know how much you are not in control of your body until you have to use it. Alan, our instructor was really patient and helpful in rescuing our clay when we have difficulties shaping our pots.
Went to one of their experience class. The teacher was through and helpful as we make our pottery. After 6 weeks, it was ready to pick up. Came out smaller than expected so make sure you see a demo piece.
Highly recommend the mini pottery workshop. Sarah and Alan were super friendly and guided us patiently throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the class, thanks for the experience!
Had a superb experience with the mini-pottery class at Terra & Ember. To everyone trying pottery for the first time, I'd highly recommend for people to try the mini-pottery class from this studio. Instructors are amazing (huge shoutout to Sarah and Alan once again!), they balance a fine line between guiding and allowing for free play, studio is extremely spacious and central (in location) and adequate amount of time is allocated for each segment of the workshop. Will definitely go there again!
Started with their Stay-Home Potters program and was pleasantly surprised! Alan is the most patient teacher who puts up with this wise-cracking student who managed to collapse her pots several times. Expanded to go for their wheel-throwing experience and loved every minute of it. Alan's patience and hands-on teaching is excellent! 10/10 would recommend for pottery lessons. Bonus: the location is awesome. Seriously, awesome.
A cozy and refreshing experience of our first pottery class! :) Instructor was very thoughtful and gave us a lot of help along the learning and taught us in a fun and engaging way. Moreover, when I told him that we were celebrating birthday, he made the extra effort to decorate the place and taught us how he made a nice flower pot and gave it to us! Instructor is very passionate about what he's doing. Highly recommended if you're a beginner wanting to learn the basics of pottery.
The mini pottery workshop was really fun! The studio was clean and bright, the instructor was really friendly and patient. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun new experience to do with your friends/family!
Signed up for the 5-weeks introductory course and it was amazing!!! The class size was not too large and Alan was very patient to each of us. He constantly checked on us and guided us personally. The classes were very therapeutic. Can't wait to see the final outcome after heating in the kiln!
Did the introductory package with Terra & Ember. Our instructor Alan was really great and was always teaching us different things about pottery. Was able to make a few pots from the class and can't wait to see the outcome once it's fired! Would definitely recommend anyone interested to try out.
The 7 of us had an amazing session learning pottery from Alan. The session was everything we wanted to celebrate my friend's Hen's night. Thank you for specially arranging for a session that has both wheel throwing and mini pottery for us! Alan was so kind, patient, and welcoming. Terra & Ember is the place to go for a relaxing and enriching pottery experience!
A first time at pottery and wheel throwing, I was disappointed with the instructor for his lack of patience to everyone. Exposure to the art of pottery/wheel throwing was albeit pleasurable, his professionalism was marginally below par. Would appreciate if he were more forbearing and tolerant to questions and mistakes made by everyone, the first timers. Other than that, I recommend this place. A bigger banner would help market, though. ✏️
Had been looking forward to visiting this unexpected find above a temple in Geylang. It's a well-equipped space with bright lighting and a conducive playlist, and the mini wheel session was a fun and no strings attached intro to throwing. Excited to take home the end products. Frankly, we were let down by the instructor's comments throughout the session directed at one member of our group, which came across as unnecessarily condescending and accusatory. Judging by other reviews, our experience was an outlier. Everyone is fighting their own battles we know nothing about – that works both ways.
Definitely 5 stars. Going back again because its good! Love the zen environment with aircon. Most pottery studios I went to has no aircon. Sometimes there is plants selling doenstairs, very complementary!
Alan really cares and he is very kind, helpful to students. Appreciate the patience and amazing touches like royce chocolate to share at end of course! Love it!
took up the five lessons course on a whim and really enjoyed it :) Alan and Sarah are really friendly as well, a fun experience ^-^ ✨
The instructor was clear in his instructions and made the class engaging and stress-free! He was very helpful and patient too!
