Reviews of The Write Connection - Toa Payoh
I got excellent marks in my English composition in the End of Year Examination under the help of Mr Jared. His composition techniques are very useful. I would highly recommend this teacher to anyone else. 😀
TWC Toa Payoh has help my boy a lot in his English writing. My boy seldom sing praises for teachers and is never enthusiastic about attending tuition. However he’s very committed to go Ms Kamilia’s classes as he truly enjoy her class and learns so much during the class. His compo writing has indeed improved a lot. Teacher really plays a part.
Mr Jared Ho has been teaching my son for a year. He is extremely patient in helping my son build his essay structure. My son has shown significant improvement since joining Mr Jared’s class.
Mr Jared is extremely caring. He goes the extra mile to build a positive connection through interesting conversations about pets and travel experiences which my son can relate to. This helps to keep my son engaged and eager to attend classes. Thank you!
The lessons are very fun 🤩. I really enjoy interacting with my classmates and teacher — mr Jared. His teachings were clear and he ensures we enjoy his lessons, I was able to improve my writing skills with these lessons. 👍🏻 the teachers are friendly and cool 😎 🤙
We attended this centre before and I must say their material is good and well structured on writing. Customer service is top notch and communication is clear. However teacher turnover is an issue and quality of teachers vary as can be seen how detailed they mark the paper and compo. Open ended comprehension could be improved by discussing common mistakes with more techniques imparted how to avoid them in the future. Generally TWC is a good centre to try out but do a thorough research on teachers.
Ms Bernice Tan is a rare gem in Twc safra. My boy started in p4 and the 3 other Teachers he met in the span of 6months ( high Teachers turnover rate unfortunately) was ok but when we finally met Ms Bernice, it was really a blessing!! She goes beyond her scope of work and really dedicated and cares for her students. My boy loves attending her classes and his compo has improved tremendously !All thanks to ms Bernice’s guidance!! I hope the management treasures her experience and dedication and she will stay on and I will definitely send my other kids too!
Update (8 May 2023): Starting from Jan 2023, TWC revamped its curriculum. The new curriculum emphasised on learning model essays so the students can score well in exams. The earlier emphasis on co-creating story line with students was removed. Students were also not required to do a Draft 2. Doing draft 2 used to be a very effective learning method for the students as teachers gave very precise useful feedback to allow students to improve their writing. One can always see great improvements in draft 2s. By doing away draft 2 implied that teachers' comments/feedback can be more generic. Students are encouraged to study the model essays and regurgitate. For weaker students, the new curriculum will be helpful. For strong writers, TWC is no longer a good place to enhance your creative writing skills. TWC is able to make special arrangements if you bring up to their attention but it is a tiresome and time-consuming process.
[Old review written in 2022] The writing program is well-structured and teachers are dedicated and professional. Special thanks to Ms Bernice for her commitment, always going the extra mile for the students. Her classes are always fun and engaging. She gives specific feedback for each student and helps them improve. She constantly encourages them to do better. My daughter has benefited tremendously from her tutelage.
Kudos to the administrative team at TWC. In the past two years of Covid pandemic, the numerous changes from online to physical classes have proceeded seamlessly. They also take special care to communicate clearly and promptly to parents. I truly appreciate their efforts to keep us informed.
A big thank you to Ms Bernice Tan from TWC Toa Payoh for her dedication and commitment. Appreciate the constant feedback and going the extra mile to provide extra time to help my child work on his weaknesses. Her teaching style really engages the children. Thank you for helping my child to explore new techniques and getting him all pumped up for lessons!
The front desk lady is helpful. And Coach Ian is caring fir their studies. He makes extra effort to help studies for their national examination. A caring coach is important
