Reviews of Lim Chee Guan New Bridge Road Store
When it comes to Bak Kwa, personally nothing beats Lim Chee Guan. When I have bak kwa crave, when I don't eat pork, I will buy their chicken version which comes fragrance n tender.... Will not buy it during the insane queue during before Chinese New Year... I like their Bak Kwa as it is chewy and yet tender; very smoky and aromatic, and has that caramelised flavour. It’s a treat anytime.
This is my second round with the spicy pork. It’s good—don’t get me wrong—but it didn’t quite spark the ‘I’ll be back’ vibes. Maybe I need something spicier to keep me coming!
The queue was 4 hours a week before CNY. I arrived at 8am ahead of the store’s opening at 9am and only managed to purchase at 12pm. The bakkwa is good and better than other stores but not worth the arduous wait. Would suggest to preorder during CNY period instead! There’s probably a better way to manage the queuing system than to make people take queue number and also insist they wait in line for the entire duration which defeats the purpose of the queue number which was not verified by the staff. There were many elderly folks queueing to buy and it would have been nice if more consideration was taken.
I really like this place. They have pork jerky done right. It's not too sweet, and the texture is just right.
Very good bacon and gold coin pork.
As the days inches towards the Chinese New Year with about a week to go, the queue is both crazy and madness. Expect long queue without the expectation that you are able to lay your hands on the signature BBQ pork. Although the queue is a big turn off, there is no turning back once you have tasted their signature. Goes best with beer. You will be surprise that friends and acquaintances are made during the 8-9 hours long queue. Would have been a 5 star for me personally if not for the queue during the Chinese festive season. They do have an assorted of flavour ranging from pork, chicken, chilli pork, prawn and beef.
The staff was so friendly. The signature sliced pork was really really good!
Before heading back home we still managed to buy some grilled pork from this one of the famous place, the aunties who served us is really friendly and informed us about other products

01.05.2018: i like to heat up the signature bbq pork 8 sec in microwave, it will taste a lot better than at room temperature, staffs were very nice, no black face at all, when i requested to cut in small pieces of my 500g purchase and separate for 2 packs, i wish their signature bbq pork can be pre-packed in small pieces individually..
One of the reputed bak kwa stall which is known for their long queue during Lunar New Year. The bak kwa is slightly sweeter & more meaty as compared to other brands.
Local Favorite among the Singaporeans. It is a much better alternative to buy if u pass by Chinatown, instead of Bee Cheng Hiang.
Overall their bak kwa is good as compared to the rest
Service and bak kwa are better than Fragrance near by. I like the spicy pork bbq more than the signature. Kinda pricy but yummy! Will be back for more someday!
This is the best Bak Guan (meat jerky) in town, no joke! Once you've tried it, you'll see why it's most jerky lover's favorite. Often, a long line of customers, especially during festive time when gift giving is required. The jerky is made fresh daily. U buy by weight. They will wrap it nicely with wax paper, then vacuum sealed in a resealable bag. Shelf life is about a month from the date of purchase. It is best to store in a fridge once opened. Put them in the microwave on low heat for 20 seconds. That way, your jerky will taste divine.
Went today after a failed attempt yesterday. Managed to take a queue number and was given 90. Started at 9am and finally reached my turn at 1pm. The queue was really crazy during CNY period, each person max is 10kg and usually people max it out. Unfortunately, there is only one staff packing it into 500g packs and serves the customers one by one. Apparently I heard the bak kwa were prepared and grilled in factory before bringing over. Not sure why they could not have more staff to do the packing. So far I tried the bak kwa, tastes still as good! But I really believe the queue could be better managed, seems like they are keeping the hype up by making the queue long. Dropped a star due to the long queue.
Delicious, not expensive
Good place for souvenirs, with long history.
Bought the minced meat bak kwa (coin), 2.5kg for $103 SGD. Also tried the spicy bak kwa, a must try for those for love spicy food. Never leave Singapore without these as gifts for friends! Be expected to queue and wait for awhile.
Bak Kwah (Grilled meat) has been a must during the Chinese New Year. And some home every year Lim Chee Guan is the name on everyone's mind to get fresh and delicious tasting Bak Kwah. It has a unique char grill taste and doesn't stick to your teeth after eating it.
Its still 2 weeks away from CNY and the queue is pretty long already at 9am. (Gets longer throughout the day). There are actually tourists who also joins in the queue!
As extra service, they have staff who periodically distribute bottled water and their new product, Bak Kwah Pie to people in the queue. 😋
Anticipate for 5-6hrs queue on a good day during CNY. Come after CNY if you want to have a taste of this delicacy without the queue!!!! . Worth queueing for though!!!
Institutional BBQ pork slices established in the 1920s. Prices are now $39 for 500g ahead of the Lunar New Year. Snaking lines, but a definite pit stop if one’s visiting Chinatown in Singapore.
The minimum they sell is about 1.5 pieces.
Very Quiet after CNY.
But worth to try one of Singapore favourite BBQ pork brand.
My favourite bak kwa shop, I prefer here than other . The thickness of the bak kwa here is just right , not too hard and not too dry.
Best Bak Kwa after trying out the recommended stores in the previous years. Went this year again and queued for 4hrs during this peak Chinese New Year period!
Bought bak kwa before cny one week ! Long queue but waited less than 30mins.
The original bakkwa (BBQ pork jerky). I prefer the tenderness and fragrance. Fragrance brand would be my second choice.
My brother favourite bak kwa. Always get it during non CNY period. Because no queue :)
My personal favourite because it is soft and tasty
Perhaps the most popular sliced meat shop to the Chinese in Singapore. There is often a long queue along the narrow road waiting to be served...
Q 1 hrs ++ to buy this bakwak😅
A bit pricey but the taste and the presentation are good ;-).
Yummi!!! Once you tried it, you will get addicted.😊👍👍👍
I could not any special than other jerkry brands. But it is unique brand in Singapore.
Queue for 4 hours to get family’s favorite bakkwa. Worth every bite!
Staff were polite and well informed. They were able to advise us on our querries and provide good alternatives.
Really delicious and yes i have tried the others ... dont mind q-ing for this one.
Crispy pork floss, bak wa 😋
Great choice for sending to families and friends, friendly staff, helpful advice on purchase
Go there in the morning. Cheaper then online but need to Q.
Not as dry as the other brands. A little too sweet for my preference.
The legend.... simply the best. Second to none... the others just followers
Great food and choice. Better order online and come pick
Delish bak kwa. Just avoid the queue during CNY.
Crispy pork floss nice!
My 1st choice
Love the Bak Kwa. Our family loves it.
Fresh but sometimes taste so salty
Convenient location to get pork jerky
Good
Nice 👍
Abit disappointed... Not hot
Food was nice and tasty
Delicious! Taste good!
Superb
not bad the place
Always good
It can be seen that the meat paper is carefully grilled with charcoal, and the bacon is the most distinctive. It would be great if it can be paired with a lettuce salad, but I personally think that Taiwanese people may not be used to it. reason:
1. The sweetness is twice that of Taiwan. It feels like eating candy meat.
2. Different from the meat selection method of famous restaurants in Taiwan, famous restaurants in Taiwan will not use boars to avoid the smell of pig.
3. Friends in Taiwan will make a special trip to buy "Jiang Ji Hualong" and Weifeng "Guangdaocheng". Buy one piece first to try the taste. If you like it, buy more. Don’t wait in line for too long and buy too much on impulse.
This is my favorite among the three restaurants in Chinatown
The price is relatively reasonable, and they even offered to cut it into small pieces for us to eat easily.
It’s really thoughtful and the jerky is delicious.
Recommend the signature meat jerky. Unlike the booth next door, the meat jerky here looks more handmade, and you can taste the meat when you see and eat it. Although it only lists 100/300 grams, you can also order 200 grams or other amounts using a scale. I will buy it every time I come to Singapore. You can tell the clerk which one you want to try.
You can buy a small amount of 1-200 grams, no need to pay the price, it is very delicious.
Especially recommend the bacon, super fragrant
It tastes greasy, and many dried meats in Taiwan are much better.
2018/09
The meat here was the most delicious. There are famous restaurants nearby (there's also one at the airport), but this one is by far the best. This is a store you definitely want to visit when you go to Singapore. Many local people were also buying, and we had a steady stream of customers. There are many different types, each with their own characteristics, so it might be a good idea to find one you like. Perfect as a souvenir!
This restaurant was recommended by a Thai person living in Singapore. He is an ancient ruler. Rich flavor Every time you come to Singapore you must try to shop at this shop.
There are many choices of jerky, and the texture of the meat is good. It is not too dry or too woody. It tastes sweeter than the Meizhenxiang jerky. It is sold on a scale. The service staff is quick and quick. You can try it. Be sure to try it first to see which one compares. It suits the taste. I personally prefer bacon. It tastes fragrant and the meat is soft and delicious. You can't take it on the plane after eating it. If you want to take it on the plane, it must be fully vacuum packed.
One of the must-buy souvenirs in Singapore
You must try this jerky when you come to Singapore. The more you eat, the better it gets.
I waited in line for more than two hours to buy Lin Zhiyuan meat jerky today. It was really worth it. The meat jerky was so delicious and fragrant. So many people were willing to queue up and it was worth buying. . .
The taxi driver introduced it and said it was a local favorite.
Tastes good
It's not super delicious, but it's cheap, soft, and delicious.
If you like beef jerky, try it.
The jerky is delicious, but a bit expensive
The waiter is very friendly and the beef jerky tastes great as well as the price.
Every time I go to Singapore, I have to go to Lin Zhiyuan to buy dried pork and meat floss.
The jerky is soft and tender...but the taste is too sweet for me
Delicious jerky, tastes sweeter than others
Most delicious bak kwa in Singapore!
Best bak kwa brand in sg!
Many people queue up and souvenirs are a must-have
Well-deserved reputation. . Delicious😋😋
